I bought 2 more one for our mountain cabin, one for my daughter, who loves mine. Beautiful to look at and cooks beautifully as well.

This pan astonishes me. My wife and I are not professional cooks, but good home cooks, to whom food means a lot.

La Chamba is amazing. We roast fruits in the oven, bake/roast meat. We use it on the stove top. It cleans easily, comes with its own special wood scraper. There is no fault in it I can find. I am recommending it to all my friends.

I thought it was a decent size until I received the mini tartlettes Set. Each measures about 1 inch by 1 inch. If you decide to go with personal bite, this is it. If you are planning to go with sharing size, I do not recommend.

I bought these tartlets because I needed them for afternoon tea bit size treats. There are the perfect size for me, great shapes. The quality is OK, since there is a lot of fat in tart shells, I don't need non-stick ones anyways. The only thing is, the tartlets are very very sharp, I cut myself while cleaning it and it won't stop bleeding. Prepare to get a sand paper and sand the edges of the tartlets before you start to use them.

Don't understand all the negative reviews given the set says MINI. We used these at a tea party last week and they worked great. Anything tin plated will rust!

Honest reviews on Fox Run 36-Piece Mini Tartlettes Set

the metal is actually sturdy and quite solid for its metal type and for the price.

and i received mine complete 36 pcs.

they are mini's so that's around an inch or less in bottom diameter and about half-an-inch in height.

dont expect a 2-inch bottom diameter or more than an inch in height -product specifically identifies the set as "mini"

These tins worked well for my granddaughter as she could make the same product that I did and we had a great baking day in our kitchen. Many memroies made and the tins were great.

I'd say I'm a coffee snob, and use a lot of different brewing methods, mostly pour-over (Hario) style. From a sheer quality-of-taste perspective, the Le Creuset blows them all away. The flavor is dramatically better, both black and with creamer. So, so good. The convenience trade-off isn't too bad, and I found it surprisingly easy to clean and the total process doesn't take more than 10 min. or so. Totally worth it. Buying another one for the office.

My first piece of Le Creuset and it makes delicious coffee. I recommend Trader Joe's Italian Dark Roast Coffee which is delicious with the press. Here's another hint .... after the recommended 4 minutes of brew time, push the plunger and cover the press with a tea cozy. (Look it up!). This will keep other cups warm..

Best Deals for Le Creuset Stoneware 27-Ounce French Press, Flame-(Volcanic)

This french press is a beautiful addition to my morning. My coffee is warm is a sturdy container. No glass (that breaks easily) or plastic parts. It just took me a couple days to figure out how to use the spout with out having grinds in my coffee. Don't fill it to the tippy top and ensure the screen is open.

Honest reviews on Le Creuset Stoneware 27-Ounce French Press, Flame-(Volcanic)

I got this press to match the rest of my cookware since it will sit on the counter all the time. I like it as it has a good weight to it, but the plunger is at times difficult to disassemble for cleaning, the upside it that it does come all the way apart and you can take the stem out of the lid. This is an improvement over my previous one from another brand.

I bought this for my mom for Christmas. She had been eyeing it at the store, but would never buy it for herself. I'm glad I bought it on Amazon, because it was not as expensive as it was at the store. My mom really loves it. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful! Le Creuset always does an amazing job with their products... very well-made and sturdy. It keeps the coffee nice and warm :)

So about 8 months ago I tried out my first set of ceramic pans. They were really nice and I liked them because they were a "green" and non-toxic solution to nonstick pans. They worked excellent with eggs and frying veggies and lighter fare but had a really hard time standing up to meat (and yes even with seasoning the pan appropriately yada yada yada). Every time I cooked red meat on my 10 in ceramic, it degraded the coating. Then one day I tried doing some fish on it, thinking it wouldn't be as bad, and it destroyed the pan in one shot. The fish skin stuck to the coating and nothing I could do would save it. I am certain this was partially do to the slow degradation over time but I was really miffed by this. Ceramic pan last 6 months and died. So, I decided to try something else. Found this stone earth pan and gave it a shot. WOW! What a difference. This seems to be one of those instances where the fad is winning out over good tech because this is superior in just about every way. Heat is more consistently distributed. It is more sturdy. Best of all, this cooks eggs and veggies just as well as ceramic but can stand up to heavier foods like steaks, burgers, fish, chicken, heavy sauces, etc. I wish I had found this first. Out of every non-stick solution I have tried old non-stick, hard anodized, ceramic, and now stone this is by far my favorite pan I have ever owned and I was sad to see it has gone out of stock and that I could not find this in 8 in and 12 in sizes with a crock pot and the whole nine yards. I want a whole set!!!!

3 month update: I have put this pan through it's paces use it at least every other day and it has shown absolutely no degradation in the nonstick coating. This is with seasoning the pan with oil each time and not turning it above medium as directed on the box. This pan continues to stand up to all kinds of food and cooking.

For my review on Quick Tattletials I received one STONEHENGE Ultra-safe 100% PFOA-Free Non-Stick Stone Coating From Germany, Stone Earth Pan, by Ozeri! This is the most awesome frying pan! Nothing sticks to it. You can fry eggs, veggies, burgers, chicken and everything else, without anything sticking to it! It's not light weight, nor is it heavy. It's just right! It's very easy to clean, just take a wet soapy paper towel or sponge to it. Make sure you season your pan, with ½ teaspoon of olive oil or vegetable oil. This pan is very Eco-friendly and perfect for everyday use. I would highly recommend, The Stone Earth Pan, by Ozeri!

This pan makes my 4th attempt at trying to find a good non-stick frying pan. What a relief to finally find one that does what a non-stick pan is supposed to do...cook food without the food sticking and burning. And the cleanup is wonderful. Because what I mostly use it for is stir frying chicken tenders with onions and peppers in a small amount of olive oil and in the other pans the food eventually sticks some and would leave a burnt residue on the bottom of the pan that made clean up a chore.

The pan has a solid, balanced feel to it, looks good, the handle feels good in the hand and has a solid heft to it as well. The pan is very flat on the bottom which is another huge plus!

The sides of the pan are almost completely vertical which I also like. I believe that this pan will keep me cooking for quite some time. I would like to see it offered in both a smaller and a larger size as well, if possible.

Even though I haven't had the pan long, I use it everyday and so far it has certainly met my expectations and by far exceeds the quality of the other three pans I purchased hoping for the quality the Stone Earth pan has provided.

I would definitely recommend this to others.

Honest reviews on The Stone Earth Pan by Ozeri, with 100% PFOA-Free Stone-Derived

I have been pleased with its nonstick properties so far. It also is a very attractive frying pan. Is heavier than most frying pans which I like. After ordering I found out that it should not be heated above medium heat. The instructions said this would not be a problem as it has superior heat transfer. I have not found this to be the case. It seems what you save in cleanup time is counterbalanced by what you lose in cooking time. I have cheaper nonstick pans that I feel free to use at high heat. I reckon they will not last as long but for the price perform better if cook time is included in the equation.

We've had the pan for a few weeks now. Love it! Takes only a small amount of oil and nothing sticks to it. I've made pancakes, eggs, stir fry, fish & chicken. No problem! The 10" pan is a nice size for cooking everything. I never notice the handle getting hot like my stainless steel pans. Directions say to not heat the pan more than medium heat, but I don't turn it up higher than that anyway. Not sure what would happen to the pan if I did. I don't put it in the dishwasher either, just hand wipe clean. My only gripe is that the pan is a little heavy but that may just be my wrist (injured years ago). Other than that, we use this pan everyday!

I had non stick pans that were losing their coating which made me nervous. Were we eating that coating? I did a lot of research and this pan was very highly recommended. It exceeded my expectations. It cooks great and cleans up like a dream. I love it.

I thought this pan would be perfect for eggs and breakfast stuff. Seemed great for the first couple of months, but then slowly I started noticing little pinhole pits in the ceramic coating. I have been nothing but extremely and overly "delicate" with this. Always washed separately to ensure nothing banged into the ceramic coating. I use nothing but bamboo and silicone utensils to cook so there should be no reason for this pitting. I think I'll stick to classic indestructible stainless steel and cast iron. I'm about done with all these "cookware fads" of disposable cookware.

I've been using this regularly for about a month now and I have to say that it's pretty fantastic. It's great looking (I got the blue) and nothing sticks to it. I still give it a quick spritz of non-stick spray but that's more habit than necessity. It really is a great value and a well made, durable product.

Honest reviews on Bialetti 10-Inch Aeternum Easy Saute Pan, Blue

I have had this pan for well over one year.

**When I need to sear, I use a stainless or cast iron pan.**

It STAYS on my stovetop, almost all of the time (cleaned).

I use it everyday.

I use no more than Medium Heat ever.

I do not overheat while preheating.

I use a VERY light coating of oil, or residual oil from previous cooking.

I wipe it clean with a paper towel when possible (usually).

If needed, I wipe it with a sponge under tap water.

If xtra crusty, I soak before sponging (rare!)

I NEVER use any sort of scrubbing surface.

I only occasionally use soap.

With the above care, this go-to pan looks and cooks as if brand-new.

This pan is not only easy to clean up but you can actually brown food in it. I made home fry's that came out golden and crispy. High heat was not needed to obtain this. Nothing burned. You do need to be careful not to use metal and I wouldn't stack other pans inside it unless you have something soft in between.

I have these on the table when it's just me or a few friends. Because of the size, they need to to filled often. The good thing about the size is that they aren't obvious when they're on the table. They also don't take up a lot of table top space. The shape is a little odd, but it fits well in your hand, so you don't have to worry about dropping it.

On the plus size, they match all of my Fiestaware! They really aren't that bad. They are functional and are great to have on hand for eating popcorn on the sofa or on the table when there are a few people over.

Should Homer Laughlin China, Company improve on these, I would make them a little less like the candlestick holders and perhaps more like a smaller version of the stove top S&P shakers.

These are the cutest salt & pepper shakers ever! I had read that they were way to small and required frequent refills. However, unless you prefer the taste of a salt lick to food or are serving dinner to entire hockey teams, you should be fine. They are actually a little on the large side for a dinner set. But at any rate you can't beat the great mushroom shape and wonderfull colors. A must have for anyone who loves Fiestaware!

Best Deals for Fiesta 497 Salt and Pepper Set

What a nice addition to your table! They're quite pretty and very easy to grab, especially for those with arthritis and for toddlers, without them spilling all over the place. They look really "retro" and can start quite a conversation at the table. I've found them to be just fine, size-wise, but you do have to refill them quite often. Great product though goes from the table to the dishwasher (top rack) without problems.

Honest reviews on Fiesta 497 Salt and Pepper Set

These shakers are adorable. Very small and cute... BUT, unless you look closely at them, it's very easy to mix them up. My husband has fits over them and swears he'll find a way to mark them "S" and "P" if I don't switch them out. Often we'll use the larger range shakers by Fiesta instead of these. Buy the range shakers instead of these if you can find them. I bought mine from Amazon.

These are really great shakers. They're pretty small though so don't plan on serving corn on the cob to 10 people and expecting it to last through the dinner. They look fantastic on a table display and really add flair to your decorating. They're functional, but they really could stand to be a little bigger. I'm happy with them though the plum are just gorgeous!

Love, love, love these beautiful cannisters. Best of all, they are large enough to hold a bag of flour or sugar. As others have said, the seals are not really tight but I think they will be fine. I've been looking for a while for pretty cannisters large enough to be really useful and these fit the bill. Most cannisters have removable seals which don't work well and fall out of the containers. The seals included with these slide over the ceramic and stay there. Did I say how pretty they are?

Over the years, I have bought several "non-stick" griddles, but those coatings always turn gummy, flake off, and don't clean well. Finally, I came to my senses and realized cast iron doesn't flake, is truly non-stick, cleans with hot water, and if it turns gummy, a little re-seasoning always fixes the problem. I love cast iron; love the shiny black non-stick surface that develops over time. Food always tastes great on iron, also. But I had never had a piece of pre-seasoned cast iron, so I was a bit skeptical about skipping the seasoning routine. The griddle got a good hot-water-only rub down out of the box, a generous coating of oil, and set on the stove to preheat for pancakes. The first one stuck just a little, but that was a temperature problem. All the rest of the pancakes were perfect no sticking at all! And they were actually fluffier and had a crispier crust than usual, while the insides were oh-so-tender. Best pancakes ever! If this griddle cooks this well straight out of the box, I can't wait till it develops that beautiful shiny black patina!

Don't wait as long as I did: order this griddle soon! You really can use it immediately, and like all good cast iron, with proper care, it will last a lifetime!

Great little grill for just two people! I grill burgers, vegies and more on this. I was going to get the larger size but decided this would be perfect for what I needed. It isn't too hard to clean up as long as you don't leave the food or grease on it for too long. Just wash it with water and a stiff brush and then dry and season. It will last you a lifetime and more with proper care!

I have lots of cast iron, mostly Lodge.

I was contemplating getting the wider Lodge grill Lodge Logic LPG13 Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle (the one that's good for straddling two burners -that one measures 20" by 10.5"), but decided on just the single one (10.5" by 10.5"). I use the smooth side for pancakes and crepes, and recently started using the grill side for steaks and chicken.

I used to use my skillet for steaks (a la Alton Brown), but I just love the grill marks. Especially since the grill of this Lodge piece goes diagonally, I put my steaks (and chickens and pork chops) at a straight 90 degree angle. While I normally cook my steaks by letting it sit there for about a minute (on high, of course), with this grill, I've gone to moving/rotating the steak another 90 degrees. It gives it that great criss-cross pattern (hey, part of good tasting food is good looking food).

With my steak sizes, I can only cook 1 steak at a time. Not really a problem since it takes me only two minutes or so per steak (rare to medium rare).

If you want a bigger area that straddles two burners, get that version instead (and, at the time of this writing, the other one which is twice the size is only a scant few dollars more; great value!). For me, this is perfect. Basically, choose your weapon. :)

These are a great addition to any kitchen. Designed for fajitas, they have many other uses. I grill steaks in my Lodge Logic grill pan and have these heating in the oven. There is nothing worse than having an expensive steak go cold and these pans prevent that. A wonderful gift very attractive as well as functional and a must have for steak and fajita lovers.

Honest reviews on Lodge LFSR3 Pre-Seasoned Fajita Set

I bought 2 of these Lodge logic Pre-Seasoned Fajita sets because I was tired of cooking steaks and other meals and putting them onto regular plates and having them get cold. If you have ever been to Apple bee's and ordered any of there skillet meals you know how nice they are while you are eating, your meal never gets cold fast. So I decided to buy my own and try them out for home use and I love these skillets. I give these skillets 5 out of 5 stars. They are very nicely made and come with the heat board and the little oven MIT so you can grab it off of the grill or out of the oven. Since I bought 2 of them I have had some family members and buddies over and I pulled these out and heated them up on the grill and then put the steaks on them and brought them to the table after they tried them out they loved them and are now trying to get there own for there own homes. I am now looking to buy 2 more so my buddies don't fight over who gets the hot skillets when it comes to cooking steaks, fajitas or what ever it might be.

We love to make our own fajitas (especially in a slumping economy). We used to cook the meat and vegetables and set them on a plate. By the time we got to our second flour tortilla, the meat had become cool/room temperature. Finally, our fajita meat stays hot through the whole meal. The only issue I have, it is VERY difficult for me not to put dish soap on these and wash them as I do other dishes. They always feel sort of oily fron the oil I have to put on them before I heat them in the oven. The handle hot pads are great. Careful....They come out of the oven SUPER hot, but it makes the experience so authentic.

Orgreenic Flip Jack Ceramic Non-stick Pancake Maker, As Seen On Tv Reviews

Orgreenic Flip Jack Ceramic Non-stick Pancake Maker, As Seen On Tv

I have seen the ads on TV saying just how good this thing is so, when I found one at a local Walgreen's, I bought it. I used it a couple of times and, as of today, I tossed it in the recycler because it is useless.

OK, the good news is that it cooks well and I never had a problem with food sticking BUT to keep it from sticking you HAVE to apply some cooking spray to both pans before you start to heat them.

The bad news is just about everything else. First and foremost--it leaks. When you try to flip the pan over if there is anything that is even slightly liquid inside it will leak out the joint between the pans. It could be egg white or batter, if it is still liquid it will leak. Second, and something that the commercials never mention, you cook in the lower pan while the upper pan is still upright. You close the upper pan and flip the thing over. Now you have to wait while the (used to be) upper pan heats up and begins to cook. Also, in the commercial they show a woman blowing on a pancake to make it slide out of the pan and it is nowhere near that easy. While the food doesn't stick badly. at least for the few times I used it, it often has to be nudged with a spatula to make it slide out. On top of everything else it is VERY cheaply made, the handle broke the fourth time I used it. This needs to be re-engineered so that the edges of the pans overlap rather than just meeting. That would help stop the leaking. The heating of the second pan is something we would just have to live with. Do I recommend it? Absolutely not!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I bought this hoping that it would be good at making eggs over easy. Unfortunately, it's not so good. The non-stick just doesn't work and the eggs end up stuck to the upper lid of the pan. Even after i seasoned it like the instructions say. Eggs definitely don't slip around the pan as in the commercial. Well it's only $20. i'll try it using cooking spray.

UPDATE:

Having used it for a few weeks now, I've figured a few things out. First, I have to use cooking spray. Without question. And I need to spray it on while the pan is cold. Spraying it on when hot just makes a mess. Second. I need to flip the pan and pre-heat the top before putting anything in it. Third, I think this pan will completely fail when the hinge fails. It's made with very small rivets. They don't look like they will stand up to a lot of use or abuse. So I think there is a life expectancy that I have to look forward to.

Best Deals for Orgreenic Flip Jack Ceramic Non-stick Pancake Maker, As Seen On Tv

I followed their seasoning instructions and tried to fry some eggs. I had to use a spatula and they still stuck to both sides.

Honest reviews on Orgreenic Flip Jack Ceramic Non-stick Pancake Maker, As Seen On Tv

I saw this on TV and thought, hey great concept. I actually don't have much trouble cooking eggs or pancakes, but if you can make it easier, hey, why not, right? My next trip to WalMart, I saw it on the shelf, and bought on impulse. I wish I hadn't.

ON the informercial, you see them all happily cooking their eggs and pancakes, and nothing sticks, and just simply blowing onto the pan slides the food right off! WOW! Right?

Wrong.

My first thought, as I opened the package, was, hmm, this looks extremely cheap and flimsy, and will probably leak out the sides, and likely break in time. Not worth $20. You can get a really nice skillet for $20 that will LAST. My next thought was, hmm, is this dishwasher safe? Probably not, with my luck... so I look, and I'm right, it recommends hand washing. Okay, no big deal, this thing is supposed to be as slippery as a banana peel, so it won't need much washing, right?

Wrong.

Next, I read the instructions, and it tells me I have to season the pan. Seriously? This isn't cast iron, it's not a wok, why do I have to season it? It's supposed to be non-stick, right?

Wrong.

So I dutifully seasoned the pan, exactly as instructed. And I'm not new to seasoning pans. I just so happen to have some cast iron, and a fancy wok, and both need seasoning. So I season. Season, to my hearts content, and deciding that season doesn't really stick to this pan, I decide to season it once more for good measure. Afterward I wipe the excess oil as the instructions say (which shouldn't exist if it were seasoning!) and I feel like all I've done is waste oil, but I figure, maybe some of it soaked in there and did the trick. I decide to test my shiny new contraption by making a fried egg. Over medium, my preferred way to eat. And this egg, it comes out perfect. I'm somewhat impressed, though worried about the edges should I try more than one egg, or runny crepe batter. I wipe the pan out with a paper towel, and not much is there to wipe. I'm happy. I think, cool, so far so good. Will test more tomorrow. I put the pan away, and the next day, I decide to try 2 eggs. On TV you see them doing 3, so surely you can do 2, right?

Wrong.

I'm thinking my earlier success with 1 egg coming out perfect will mean success with my second attempt, too, right?

Wrong.

I grab my handy-dandy flip jack pan, and heat it up, I even put a light coating of oil on it first just to be safe, because I always use a bit of oil with other seasoned pans. Not much, just enough to make it shine. I crack 2 eggs into the heated pan. I cook it until the point of needing flipped. I flip. I lift the lid, and what to my wondering eyes should appear? 2 egg yolks spattered onto the bottom of the pan, while the whites hang out happily on top. I grumble, I scrape my eggs out, and kind of have this not quite scrambled eggs thing but certainly not overmedium. I choke them down and ponder what went wrong. After the pan cools, I clean it out. It's a bit harder this time as there is some egg stuck to it. But I clean it, and get it spic and span, and try the seasoning process over again. Repeat what worked the first time, right?

Wrong.

I tried again. Two lovely eggs cracked into the freshly seasoned heated pan, and cook until time to flip, and flip, and... same thing as the second attempt. Yolks on one side, whites on the other. Again I scrape up my egg mess, and this time just toss it out.

I haven't tried a 4th time. 2/3 failed egg attempts really make me question the validity of the non stick claims of this pan. I am not a novice in the kitchen, I am quite the expert at most things culinary, and as I said, I certainly know how to fry an egg. I'm not sure I'm going to try and 4th time, because it seems that unless I'm just cooking one egg, it's not so great, and with a family of 4, I'm usually going to be cooking more than one egg at a time. And for all I know it's a one and done kind of pan and that very first egg was the only one that will ever work out. I will forever have fond memories of that one perfect egg. Meanwhile, this pan is going to the back of the cabinet and likely not be used again. I will just stick to my normal skillets with my awesome spatula, which by the way, only cost me $4, and flips a perfect egg every time.

Save your money, and frustrations. This pan is just all kinds of wrong.

I was very excited when I bought this, but upon getting it home I realized it had to be seasoned just like any cast iron skillet. When did nonstick surfaces need to be seasoned? It was also cheaply built. Upon cleaning after seasoning it, the rivets on one handle popped loose and the handle was floppy after one cleaning.

When I finally did test it out by cooking eggs, upon flipping it over, not only did the eggs stick to the top I now had a real mess as i had eggs on top and on bottom. I grabbed a plastic spatula to slide the remaining egg into my old cast iron skillet and had to actually scrape to get the egg from the orgreenic pan. They were not burned they were just stuck to it as they would have been to a non greased iron pan. I finished cooking the mess in my properly seasoned cast iron skilled, to which they did not stick, and tossed the Orgreenic pan in the trash.

I am one of those people that has always liked the thought of "nutritional, home cooked" dinners. By the time I think about cooking the stews/roasts/whole chickens/etc. it is already too late in the day so there they sit in the freezer while I am running to the store for something quick. It's really sad to see beautiful, fresh stew vegetables (along with great intentions) go bad in the refrigerator. Well, NO MORE!!!!

If you are thinking about buying a pressure cooker, go for it! Mine came in the mail yesterday and I made Tortellini Stew last night oh my gosh it was the most tender stew meat we've had in years. It was even better than sitting in the crock pot all day! I did not pressure cook the little tortellinis :) but everything else cooked so easily. I put the stew meat in with garlic, olive oil, tomato paste and about 2 cups of stock. That pressure cooked on high for 10 minutes. Then I released the pressure (my husband calls it "releasing the aromas" because it smelled soooo good) and added in the mushrooms, carrots, celery, spices, and more broth. I brought that up to low pressure and let it go for about 3 to 4 minutes. Then, added in the tortellinis with the lid off for a couple minutes and we had a dinner in MINUTES that used to take literally HOURS!!!

I decided on the Fagor 10-quart futuro model for several reasons:

1. It's stainless steel. I don't like cooking with aluminum.

2. The 10-quart size is awesome and it is not too big. It's just right for my family of four because we like leftovers and have company for dinner often.

3. I like that this model is made in Spain rather than China.

4. I liked the steamer basket/grater that came with this.

5. The easy handles on the lid. I went back and forth on this one, but after using it am SO GLAD I went with this handle design. It will store nicely and it really is super easy.

6. The two pressure settings of 1 and 2. It will be nice having a lower pressure setting when I cook tender vegetables.

It was so intimidating that first go-round but it was so easy! You should see the steam fly out when released. It's amazing how the cooker can sit so quietly on the stove. I was not expecting the big rush of steam, so it made me jump the first time but these are totally safe and really make cooking fun and GOOD! I had no problems taking the lid off when the pressure came down. I was a little nervous about that, too, but it was no big deal whatsoever!

I received this model as a wedding gift and have never looked back. I was scared of pressure cooking the burning of things, the exploding lids, the "is it done yet" questions. This pot has never failed me. I use it all the time to cook up legumes and veggies. No more store bought beans for our family. It cooks about 2 times as fast as my friend's cheap aluminum one, so it holds pressure well. The lid is easy to set up, the safety features don't get in the way, and as long as you remember to line up the marks on the lid with the ones on the handle, you will never have a problem. I've had it for over 2 years, use it very often and I'm yet to replace the gasket. Could not be happier.

Best Deals for Fagor Futuro Pressure Cookers

I bought a Fagor 10 quart pressure cooker about 3 weeks ago and so far the only quibble I have, and it's not a big one, is that it could be a little easier for newbies to tell when the thing is up to its cooking pressure. The manual, and the video that came with the PC both say that it's up to pressure when the little yellow button pop up. That's not actually true. When the button pops up, that means that the pot is pressurized, not that it is up to 15 psi. It is up to full pressure when wisps of steam start coming out of the relief valve.

Today I made Lentil Soup with 10 minutes of cooking time. If I had started timing when the yellow button popped up the lentils would not have been done because it took (I'm guessing here, I didn't time this part) an extra 2 or 3 minutes from the point where the yellow indicator button popped up to when stream started coming out of the relief valve. If the steam is hissing out then you need to turn down the heat until wisps of steam gently escape.

I have an electric stove so there's that issue of "thermal inertia" where I make an adjustment to but it takes a short bit of time for it to respond. It is just the nature of the beast for electric ranges. A good tip from a PC cookbook said to use two burners, one to heat the PC up to pressure and a second burner turned on at the same time to a lower setting so all you have to do is move the PC from the high temperature burner to the lower temperature one.

I had an "El Cheapo" stainless steel old-style (first generation) PC and the setting on my stove for cooking was the letter "M" on the word Med. on the dial. With the Futuro all I need is the "m" on word Wm on the dial. This is a much lower setting. It is surprising how little energy is needed to maintain pressure with this PC.

The build quality is excellent one reason I bought the Futuro is that this model is still made in Spain. I've had enough trouble with Made in China gear that I wasn't about to trust our well-being to Chinese quality control. (This is a whole other issue but I now look for alternatives to Chinese made items whenever possible). If they are willing to add a poisonous material (melamine) to milk to make it test higher in protein and kill a handful of babies and sicken thousands more how much could they care about me standing in front of a stainless steel pot pressurized to 15 psi? I shouldn't have to worry that my PC is an I.E.D.

(Taking a breath now)

The bottom of the pot is very thick and spreads the heat well. As I said earlier, I made Lentil Soup today and I realized as it was nearly done that I added the lentils first so they were sitting on the bottom of the pot and I added the other ingredients on top of them. I use highest heat setting to bring the PC up to pressure (an electric stove will boil a pot of water quicker than a gas stove) so it is a very high heat. I was worried that the beans might burn a bit because I'd forgotten to stir the ingredients before heating up to pressure. But when I emptied the pot there wasn't the slightest evidence of that. The soup is delicious!

I like the short handles on the Futuro, it is easier to store. The operating valve is simple to remove and clean and the silicone gasket is easy to remove and it makes no difference which side is up when replaced so there is one less thing I can screw up. I bought the glass lid for $10 from Amazon and now I've got a very high quality 10 qt. pot for non-PC usage.

A couple of days ago I made Pulled Pork for sandwiches from a 4.5 pound piece of boneless pork loin (lower fat, ya know) that turned out wonderfully in the PC. We're having that again tonight with a cup of Lentil Soup. This has changed the way we do much of our cooking.

I'm sorry if I'm burying the lead but the new generation of pressure cookers is very, very safe. They are nothing like the ones that your mothers or grandmothers had. I'm assuming that most people who are looking at these fairly expensive PCs already know quite a bit about them so you probably know that but I felt I should make the point for newbies.

Buy a couple of good PC cookbooks when you buy your PC and you'll get a ton of good advice about using them, including how to adapt your family's favorite recipes to the PC.

Good grief! Did I do 800+ words about my PC? I need an editor after only one margarita.

If you're looking for a PC you can't go wrong with the Fagor. Enjoy!

Honest reviews on Fagor Futuro Pressure Cookers

I picked the futuro because I like the small footprint of the handles. I've had it about 6 months and was using it for beans, desserts (makes a great cheesecake and creme brulee!!), but kept finding that a lot of steam was coming out of the handle area and it was taking about 40% longer to cook to cook things then the recipe called for, so was not totally happy. One day I was reading through the instruction manual and saw instructions on how to tighten up the handles (take a phillips screwdriver and voila!). I checked, and one of my handles was very loose, so I tightened it up and now my Fagor works perfectly! So, if you get one and it doesn't seem to be working as it should, check for a loose handle. This is my first pressure cooker and I really love it! I checked out several pressure cookbooks from the library, but ended up buying The Pressure Cooker Cookbook by Toula Patsalis. Her cookbook is great if you like Mediterranean inspired food. I made her lamb meatballs last night FABULOUS and cooked in only 5 minutes!!!!!

Love, love my pressure cooker! Cooks well and fast. Compatible with induction cooktop. Easy to wash. This size is for a small family. If your family is larger than three, you are better off with the 8-quart size. Instruction booklet is easy to read, really. Definitely worth every penny. Made in Spain.
