Buy Edgeware Standard Sharpening Steel

Edgeware Standard Sharpening Steel

This doesn't actually take metal off your knife or scratch the metal, so I use it on my pretty and expensive knifes. It will straighten out the edge, much like a leather strop would only more aggressively.

My problem with diamond steels is that while they work well, they will actually remove metal and scratch up the edge of the knife. I would rather maintain the straight edge with this type of steel and actually use a sharpening stone when I want to sharpen the knife, because I can go up to a higher grit stone and polish the knife. Also, it is easier to do a better job on a stone as you are working on a stationary surface and not waving both hands around.

Great for knife maintenance, at a great price. Use it to hone all my knives about once a week. Minimizes the need for sharpening, prolonging the life of the blades.

It does the job at a good price. Seems well made. Not much else I can say about it. If it lasts it's a great deal.

Honest reviews on Edgeware Standard Sharpening Steel

This is my first sharpening steel, and I used it for a couple knives that I was given for Christmas (11 months ago) that had become quite gnarly.

Directions for use are right on the label, and by following them I was able to refine the blade of both knives within a couple minutes.

I did subtract one star from the product for build quality, though. The handle is very cheap feeling, and has jagged edges on it as if it came out of a mold and was never polished/buffed. Nothing major, but I did feel it was worth noting.

Bottom line: I am very happy with the purchase, and I can see myself using it for many years to come.

I've tried several of these over the years and some of the more expensive ones have ended up in the trash, especially the ceramic models. The handle and guard are comfortable and well designed. Love the hanging hook. It also puts the blade back in true with just a few swipes. You can't ask for more than that.

I originally got this so I could make a big Turkish Coffee every morning, and that's all I did with it for weeks, and it is excellent at that, keeping the boil/foam in, making enough for a big drink and a snap to clean with just a nylon scrubbie and dishsoap in a moment. It heats quickly, looks great after dozens and dozens of uses and works great for the purpose.

HOWEVER, I've also used it to do reductions, melt butter, cheese, reheat gravy, quickly make hot tea, blanch grape tomatoes, and a bunch of other little things that you'd normally use a small or medium saucier to do. The base on this is heavy: it heats evenly... across the flat bottom. Keep the flame within the diameter of the disc... which is good. You won't use as much energy and your water/sauce/gravy, whatever, will boil!

The only warning I would offer is a handling one and a cleaning one. The handle does get hot, because the pot is not very wide, so heat rising up the side heats the extra heavy gauge wire handle. Use a mitt or potholder. Also, NEVER EVER USE STEEL WOOL OR ABRASIVE POWDER on the inside: the reason is that the measurements are lightly etched, not deep etched, on the inside. You could wipe them away in a few cleanings if you're not careful. Soak for ten minutes, use a nylon scrubby if needed for burnt milk or chocolate, and you're good to go. Remember to keep the disc clean from any build up so you don't get hot spots!

Great, useful little pot you'll go to often!

this is the second one i have had of this item...the first one i had for a few years...i used it every day...basically, i used it for water, but periodically it was called into service for things like oatmeal or soups...i loved the size, the ease of cleaning it, although how dirty can it get from boiling water...i loved that the handle never got hot...this item was called to duty several times during the day and it always sat on top of the stove...i loved that i could see from the inside how much liquid i was pouring into it...

one day, i was cooking the water for tea...i went into the bedroom to look something up on the computer and somehow, i got involved with my computer...i totally forgot about the water on the stove...about twenty minutes later, i returned to the kitchen and an awful smell, only to find that my water was gone and the bottom of the pan was black inside and out...i scrubbed and scrubbed, but most of the black would not come off...i then tried to boil water again in it only to find that it sat and rocked on the burner because i had warped the bottom of it...i tried to use some different pots, but i found that i missed the measurements on the inside and the ease of the handle that stayed cool for pouring and after about 5 days, i searched the computer for another one, which i found on amazon and we are now living happily ever after together...now, when i am boiling a cup or 2 of water in it, i hang around in the kitchen until it is done...

so, thankfully, my story ended well... purchasing this item on amazon was great...it arrived in a few days...i have always had good luck purchasing on amazon and delivery has always been speedy...my first pot has now been relegated to watering a plant or two and will probably end up as a plant holder or be relegated to my grandchildren's sandbox, but the problem was with me, not with it...i guess it would be great if it had a loud whistle that could be heard all around the house, that would go off when someone left the room and forgot about it...i bet i am not the first person that has done this...hope you don't make the same mistake....

Having already owned one of these for 5 yrs, I decided to order a second one for the camper.

This little pot is THE PERFECT SIZE, fits EXACTLY over the small burner on your stove. MEASUREMENTS are MARKED INSIDE !!! How perfect is that?? "Add water to here, add milk to here, add mac/n/cheese mix, etc"

I have also found that it is PERFECT for boiling One Dozen Eggs.

If you do happen to burn the outside when cooking over an open fire, etc, it CLEANS UP EASILY with one of those little Scotch Pad sponge things.

What else can I say, I LOVE this awkward looking little pot.

We received these as wedding gifts in mid-2003. We have several other Wusthof Classic knives purchased as open stock. The steak knives we received as a 6-piece set. We treat these knives better than we treat our friends. They get touched up by the steel, they don't soak, they are hand-washed and they go in the block when not in use. However, last night an approximately 1 cubic centimeter chunk of the handle nearest the blade fell into my wife's dinner. She was shocked, as was I. Upon closer inspection, another steak knife from the set was about to suffer the same fate. I think it must have been a bad production run given all our other knives, received at the same time (and which get used about the same amount) all look fine. I sent them back yesterday so I'm interested to see how well they honor their warranty.

Update 1/23/07: Received replacement knives today. Putting them back into the block was bittersweet because I noticed another one of the original set is developing a crack, this time at the bottom. Not sure what the issue is...

Main point: They appear to honor their warranty.

Many people might scoff at a set of steak knives at this price, My only retort is to relate the story of sneaking around (because of my wife's non belief that there was a difference) and buying a set of the Wusthof Classic Steak Knives and using them for the first time. No matter what knife you have laying around and how sharp it is, the Wusthof is superior. It is the most obvious in steak knives because you use them everyday.

The edges are plain edged, honed by hand. These are NOT your STEAK HOUSE knives no serrations. Your SLICING fine meat not disposing of a lost tourist in Texas!

Hand washing only, even with today's more sophisticated dishwashers with knife compartments preventing dinging and other damage to the blade, the high water heat and chemicals in the diswashing soap will ruin ANY knife. Think of the glass that you've had for years that you've run through the dish washer. Look closely and you'll see the glass is actually ETCHED from the detergent. And the old wood handled paring knives. Notice how they are duller and harder to sharpen? The dishwater temperature and chemicals from the detergent have damaged the steel. By the way, there is no SUPER steel that isn't known to all knife makers. Metallurgy is an exacting science, a formula to be followed, not magic with the Sorcerer and Mickey Mouse as his apprentice. Wusthof PROUDLY stamps the which metal their knives are made of right on the blade. It may be heard in a sales spiel from the college kid selling complete cutlery sets, that knives can be dishwasher cleaned. Nope.I don't put my saw blades, drill or router bits in the dishwasher either. They are precision edged tools just like your knives.

I'm very happy with this purchase everytime they come out for a meal. They feel comfortable, familiar like an extension of your hand, as all the Wusthof Classic cutlery do.

Good weight, balance and excellent hand honed edge. This knife is the one my wife reaches for first for her needs in the kitchen. Never argue with a woman with a knife in her hand. Especially a Wusthof!!

I love all the Wusthof knives we have. Before we got married, we had a functional set and a really crappy set from lord knows where. We had no idea just how good knives could be. We were blown away when we tried these for the first time. We had these since July and haven't had to sharpen them yet (I was sharpening my last set all the time). When were were looking into the steak knives, we really couldn't see the difference between the expensive version and the cheaper ones. We went on faith that the expensive ones really were better. We got them, and tried them on some filets. Huge difference from our old set. Then I went to visit my father and found he had the cheaper Wusthof steak knives. They too were better than the crappy ones we previously had, but there is a significant difference in quality and ability to cut between the two Wusthof choices. If you have the money, go for the more expensive set. You won't regret it.

Honest reviews on Wusthof Classic 6-Piece Steak Knife Set

These are damn sharp knives, comfortable to hold, and of course they cut a ribeye like the proverbial butter. Heck, they cut an overcooked, leathery skirt steak the same way!

These were a follow-on to the complete Wusthof knife set. I'd recommend Wusthof highly to any halfway serious chefs out there. This is serious German steel at a reasonable price.

Ordered these steak knives to add to some Wusthof pieces we had recently purchased. As with the previous Wusthof knives, we are so pleased! These are excellent knives. They're a little larger than the 25-year-old steak knives we were replacing, but they don't feel heavier or cumbersome in any way. And they are unbelievably sharp!

For cleaning, the Wustof website states:

"If you value your tools, we recommend washing your knives with warm, soapy water after each use. Rinse carefully and dry with a towel. Technically, WÜSTHOF knives are suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher (except knives with wooden handles), but there are a number of reasons why precious knives should not be cleaned in a dishwasher..." The website goes on to state the reasons why you should hand wash their knives, but I was happy to know the knives would be okay if they ran through a cycle in the dishwasher. In a busy household, a knife is bound to sneak into the dishwasher now and then (that's what happened to the old wooden-handled steak knives that we are replacing) and it's great to know we won't ruin the knives if it happens.

The only drawback is they're so darned expensive, but we think they're worth the investment. Would buy again, and recommend.

We have had the 10" griddle for 2 weeks. My husband uses it almost every morning. How do I clean it? Rinse it out with a little dish soap! This is the best piece of non-stick cookware I have ever owned. It is so much better than the old Teflon, and easier on the environment.

07-24-09: Here's an update, Gang. We have two of these now, and they are still going strong. Do not put these in the dishwasher. My son made that mistake, and ruined his little griddle.

04-15-10: Another update. We still use these almost every day. The surfaces are still great.

09-10-11: RIP Little Griddle. After about a thousand uses, the thing finally developed a rough spot. My son told me it's because I washed it while it was still hot. So, won't make that mistake again.

My reason for purchasing this plan was as to replace a so-called green-pan sold by a "celebrity" chef from one of the shipping networks that ended up being a piece of junk. I cook primarily cook with stainless steel but wanted one or two non-stick pieces for cooking items like eggs, pancakes, and the occasional crepe. I purchased this griddle/crepe pan first and really felt like it was a good decision.

I have read some reviews regarding complaints about the nonstick wearing off on the GreenGourmet pans. I think the problem is a few issues:

1. Users are using too high heat with these pans.

2. I would recommend hand washing these pans only.

3. Do not let food or oils dry in this pan. Its best to wash immediately after the pan has cooled.

So after several months of learning how to use the pan and cooking with it I went ahead and purchased the 10-inch skillet. I think these pans should have a good life cycle but using them with care is key...this is not stainless steel.

Best Deals for Cuisinart GG23-24 GreenGourmet 10-Inch Round Griddle and Crepe Pan

We bought a full set of these, and we are not thrilled with the results. The surface becomes impossible to clean if you ever use oil to cook the food. I understand not using cooking spray (which we haven't), but sometimes you need to cook with oil for flavor and texture. I agree with the commenter who complained about the warranty we called the company and when we found out the cost to get the pans replaced, we decided it would be better to buy new ones NOT very "green" or functional.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart GG23-24 GreenGourmet 10-Inch Round Griddle and Crepe Pan

Initial Internet posting were wrong about these green ceramic pans.

The glazed-like surface can be heated quite hot to brown (even blacken) steaks and toasted cheese sandwiches. The hard annodized surface heats way more evenly than cast iron.

I also love the Analon Allure series which has a hard "marble" glaze surface on the exterior but a Teflon derivative inside. Since unsealed hard anodized aluminum stains over time, the ideal pan would have the Cuisinart ceramic interior and the Allure marble finish outside. Until then, this is my primary cooking pan.

I got mine after it was marked down $10 and then used a 20% off coupon. This skillet works great with a common 10" high dome lids, unlike the non-standard sized 10 1/2" cast iron skillets.

***** I bought this pan as my "try me pan" at Bed,Bath & Beyond. I was so impressed with it after 6 months I bought the 12 in fry.

Friends also have bought them now and really give them a workout in the oven at very high temps. We all love them.

I have seen some very high end companies now using this coating, which Cuisinart has the patent on, called Ceramica.

Just remember it's a nano ceramic coating so you can chip it,like Le Creuset cast iron enamel, if not careful.

Should last a liftime with proper care.

This skillet is made with the typical Lodge quality and attention to detail. While I'm sure that it is functionaly identical to the regular 12-in skillet, the Boy Scout emblem on the bottom makes it stand out. Perfect for the campsite, back yard BBQ, or the kitchen.

It arrived with a broken handle. As you can see in the picture, the handle is a little samll for a heavy skillet like this one. But no problem, I packed it up, returned it, and a replacement was received considabily fast! (for super saver free shipping, Amazon probably lost money on this purchase for sending the heavy skillet 3 times (original, return, and replacement). Great service Amazon!

I had no experience using cast-iron cookware prior to this one but I consider myself and pretty good cook. I did a lot of reading and research on cast iron, and gave this a try. It works great! The pre-season coating worked as promised. I use it to prepare steak mostly and the result was nice. I am still experimenting and adjusting cook time as this piece works differently than any other cookware I had before, but I like what it can do so far. I have seen the same skillet (except for the boy scouts logo) selling cheaper at Walmart. But for something that heavy, I can understand the extra cost even just for shipping. I have not seen one with the boy scout logo anywhere and I think it looks a lot more handsome that the regular one. Combining the 2 factors, I think the extra few dollars was well worthed.

Ever since I have the skillet, I am constantly watching for good steak on sale from the local georcery so I can do more (rewarding) experiments.

This is a second one of my cast iron Lodge pans. I am very happy with it, as it proved invaluable in my kitchen. Thick cast iron provides even heat throughout the pan, without cold spots or hot spots. I don't have to use high heat to get amazing results. True, I do have to use both hands, but this is a minor inconvenience (and I get a workout). I suppose gradually I will replace all of my fancy non-stick aluminum pots and pans with those made in the USA by Lodge. They are not only "as good as", they are "better than", when it comes to cooking performance.

Bought this cast iron skillet some years ago and could not be happier. It comes preseasoned but that seasoning doesn't last long. I had to un-rust the skillet and reseason a few times but it was totally worth the effort. Now it cleans like a dream with little more than a soapy rag and cooks SO well. This pan has become a staple in my house and will cook anything. I can't even remember what I used before. I know I sound like a raving fool but this really has worked out well for me.

The Boy Scout emblem is nice but I think I initially chose this skillet because it was the only one that was part of an Amazon promotion: buy 3 get 1 free in cookware. I bought a lid to go with it and a couple of other cast iron items included in the promotion. The pan is heavy as most cast iron cookware tends to be but I'm so used to it now. I wouldn't trade my cast iron cookware for anything. So glad I upgraded.

It has been difficult to find a non-stick fry pan that will work on an induction cooktop (I carry a magnet at all times). This works very well, heats evenly and cooks quickly. The removeable handle made it great to pop the pan into the oven to finish a dish, re-attach the handle and remove from the oven. I bought a larger and smaller pan and both exceeded my expectations. I'll probably order other products with these same features.

I never realized what a difference a quality loaf pan would make! I had been using a cheap metal loaf pan that someone had gifted to me. Each time I would try to bake sweet breads or regular bread, it would stick and be unevenly baked. I decided to try this ceramic dish and what a world of difference. My breads rise beautifully, are evenly baked and never stick! If you've never tried baking in ceramic, I highly recommend it!

I looked at what seemed to be a million blenders. I do a lot of vegan and raw foods but I didn't want to spend upwards of $400. I love this blender! It has handled everything I hoped it would, including frozen fruits for smoothies. It is very quiet for a blender. I like the die-cast base, the simple controls (who really needs 14 settings?), and the pulse setting. The only minor flaw is the difficulty in getting out the last 1/4 cup of whatever I've made. Overall, I very much recommend this blender.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

After my 15th cheap blender in the past 4 years, I decided to quit buying garbage and put my money to better use and bought the cuisinart CBT-1000 poweredge 1000watt Die Cast Blender. Sure it cost $$ compared to the ones I had bought, but I wanted something durable and THIS thing IS durable! It has a really large 64oz jar that's made of a nonbreakable BPA material. Normally I would say glass or nothing, but realizing that a jar that size in glass would be highly unwieldy, I decided to let that slide.

Operation of the blender is simple. There aren't 20 buttons to sift through to try to find the perfect thing. Honestly, how many of us know the difference between puree, cream, and whip functions anyhow?!? It has HIGH, LOW, SMOOTHIE, ICE CRUSH, and Pulse. That's all you need! It also has a tiny digital counter that counts UP how long it's been blending. That's a good thing to know when you are trying to decide the perect consistency of a smoothie or even a frozen margarita.

Our first time out, we deicded to go full steam and make smoothies for the family. Having a family of 7 means that I don't have time to waste making smoothies then cleaning out and making MORE smoothies and cleaning out and making MORE smoothies. So the pitcher size is great! Right now one batch can cover the entire family since all 5 children are 10 or under and that means a happier smoothie making parent! So our first smoothie was a chocolate green protien powder, chocolate milk, and ice. The smoothie came out beautifully. In one cycle, we had perfectly blended smoothies, with no ice chunks. It was so smoothe, it was like a really good milkshake. Although, since I DID use a lot of ice, I chose to go with the ice function over the smoothie function. I'm sure the smoothie function could have handled it, but I think that if something contains large cubes of ice, it automatically means ice function. After a month of near daily smoothies for the family, the machine is STILL cranking them out just as smoothe and delicious as the first time.

We also decided to give our blender a whirl at making several other frozen treats like margaritas! They came out perfectly frozen and blended smoothe as well. I haven't had a really bad experience with this blender yet. The closest thing was that I wanted to make a blizzard type ice cream treat with ice cream and oreos and the blender was so powerful that it turned the cookies into utter dust in a mere 2 secs! In the future, I'll whirl the ice cream and then mix the cookie bits in by hand or something, but even though it didn't look very appetizing, it tastes really good and there were no white spots, to show where it hadn't blended well. Milkshakes come out perfect every time. Even if you like them EXTRA thick and dreamy!

After using the blender, cleanup is a breeze. The entire bottom with the blades screws right off and a simple rinse in soapy water is all it takes to clean. Be warned, don't get your fingers or tongue! anywhere near the blades! They are blood hungry! My husband who NEVER listens when I warn him about the dangers of licking the blades, actually cut his tongue pretty bad on the blades and while washing his dried on bloody mess off after returning from the ER, I actually cut my finger(although no where near as bad)using a scrubber on them. My advice is to first of all(don't bleed on your appliance by doing stupid stuff) but if you do, just put a little warm soap water in the blender and turn it on for a few secs and let the power do the cleaning for you.

All in all, I'd definitely reccomend this blender to anyone who is looking for a good blender with power that gets the job done and who isn't afraid to pay a bit more for it. I love this blender and will probably look to cuisinart for the next tabletop appliance I plan to buy.

Best Deals for Cuisinart PowerEdge 1.3 Horsepower Blender with 64-Ounce BPA Free

This review is from the standpoint of a smoothie maker. It is all I use it for so my review will be constrained to how it functions as a smoothie maker only.

Every day this blender makes a perfect smoothie for 2 to 3 people in one batch.

It is a high quality, extremely well made and designed, high quality blender.

It is high power and is not one of those that runs very fast.

It does not emit any electrical odors, even when run at high speed.

The blades are very thick and well made.

The plastic jug is made from a high quality, restaurant grade plastic.

It has a smoothie setting. Click it and in less then 30 seconds, this blender easily auto makes a smoothie out of these typical ingredients.

12 oz bag of rock hard frozen strawberries

16 oz of Yogurt

3 bananas

3 oz whole oatmeal (the unprocessed thick kind)

Handful of raw almonds (about 25)

Orange juice

TIP: I add juice last and have to poke a hole through the yogurt to allow the juice to flow down to the blades. Otherwise, they just spin. When done, a perfect smoothie results. I like to blend it on high an extra 8 seconds. 8 seconds in this blender is a long time and a lot of work is done.

TIP: The blade assembly screws on very tight and seems almost impossible to get off the blender jar by hand. A simple solution I found was to put the entire blender jar and blade assembly on the blender base. Then, turn the blender jar counter clockwise while the blade assembly is securely engaged on the base. The blade assembly then comes right off with little effort.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart PowerEdge 1.3 Horsepower Blender with 64-Ounce BPA Free

***EDITED AFTER 3 MONTHS OF USE***

After 3 months of use I feel like this blender was absolutely not worth the money. I fear that the oil leaking means this will be dead within the next 3 months. Here is my list of cons.

CONS:

I noticed OIL leaking from where the blade connects to the base. This can't be a good sign.

Very loud. The pitcher sits on a plastic base with no vibration dampening. If you don't hold the top down while blending it is even louder.

The pitcher does not lock into the base. I fear if I don't hold the top down while blending then it's going to jump off and spill everywhere.

The o-ring does not form a good seal. No matter how tight the blade is screwed on the o-ring always gets dirty and sometimes leaks onto the base.

The blade and o-ring are difficult to remove, and must be removed after every use for cleaning. It actually looks like they planned on including an accessory to tighten/loosen the blade because there are two slots on either side of the blade. Unfortunately there isn't one.

The grooves on the inside of the pitcher cause large objects to get stuck. For example, frozen bananas will get stuck and rest above the blade because of the grooves. I have to cut frozen bananas into smaller pieces before blending.

Thick frozen smoothies tend to create an air pocket above the blade. When this happens nothing is blending. I have to shake the pitcher while blending to release the air pocket.

Looking for a blender with great power and finesse, without paying over $300 for a Blendtech / Vitamix monster led me to the Cuisinart CBT-1000. On the whole I'm very satisfied. This blender has excellent power and performs quite well in a wide variety of circumstances. It's also very attractive. However there are few minor issues:

Hots:

* Power within shouting distance of the heavyweights and more than enough power for anything I do with a blender.

* Large high quality plastic jar. I was looking for glass but above 48oz jars you don't see glass anymore. The reason is weight. The jar on the CBT-1000 is a beauty with a large 64oz capacity and excellent engineering for blending liquids.

* Beautiful die cast motor housing. The brushed steel base is heavy and looks awesome on the counter. This unit is probably the most attractive blender in my opinion way more beautiful than the leaders Blendtech and Vitamix at half the price of their intro models.

* 6 razor sharp blades get good action once there's enough liquid down in the narrow neck area (see caveat below).

* Built-in pulse feature. You can turn on pulse at either power level and it will pulse automatically, showing you time elapsed.

Not so hots:

* Cover is a bit difficult to get on and off. This is a dual edged sword. The upside is that it doesn't pop off accidentally.

* The jar / base interface isn't damped, so motor vibration causes the jar to make noise which can be eliminated by holding the jar with your hand. This could have been eliminated with some compliant material where the jar and base meet. I might hack this myself at some point. This is a quibble, but a missed opportunity for some engineering polish by Cuisinart.

* The shape of the jar is wide on top, tapering down to a narrow funnel down near the blades. This concentrates the cyclonic action of the blades in a liquid, but prevents chunks of solids from getting down to where the blades are easily. In practice this means that frozen chunks can have trouble getting down to be blended into the smoothie unless enough liquids are added. Vitamix uses this deep funnel shape, but integrates a tamping paddle to push things down. Blendtech goes with a wider jar, sacrificing some liquid cyclonic action in exchange for chunks integrating more easily. So this design decision on the part of Cuisinart is a dual edged sword too. It means you either use more liquid or stop to tamp down a bit more often. This isn't a big deal. The power of this unit means that once the chunks start moving the whole thing gets integrated very quickly. But the narrow funnel shape at the bottom of the jar can delay the start of the integration if your starting point is mainly solid chunks.

* The way the buttons work is you turn the unit on or off with the power button. Then, once power is on, you select a speed and it starts to blend. Additionally you can select one of the 3 "pre-programmed" buttons (pulse (2 seconds on; 2 seconds off), smoothie, or ice crush). This arrangement means you are pressing a minimum of two buttons to get action sometimes 3. This isn't a big deal either, and enhances safety. However, my preference is for one button operation.

* As another reviewer notes, this unit is 16 1/4" tall, assembled with lid; not 15" tall as the specs say. I have to stow it under my cabinets (15" high) with the lid off in order to fit. I wish they had given the correct dimensions on the site.

Bottom line, all my complaints are fairly minor. In the most important ways, this is an excellent blender and I have been very happy with it.

I grew up having stuffed bell peppers and then as an adult prepared them for my family. My Mom used a casserole dish to prepare her stuffed peppers and I did as well. It always bothered me that the peppers would fall over losing some of the stuffing, until recently when I read about the Stuffed pepper pan in a magazine. Wow, what an easy solution for making stuffed peppers that kept the stuffing inside. I went to my favorite online store, Amazon, and sure enough they had the pan. I bought 1 pan to try and see if I liked it. I not only liked it but I loved it. Now I am going to buy a second pan and my newly married granddaughter is buying her first Stuffed Pepper Pan. The pan does what it is supposed to do and, even more cleans up easily. Two more suggestions, most stuffed pepper recipies make stuffing for 10 to 12 peppers. First buy a second pan, because you will want one after you try it the first time. Second, don't cut your recipe in half, prepare all the peppers, baking only what you need for the meal and freeze the rest for later meals. If you work it will make your life easier. By the way, I freeze the peppers I am not using in the pan and when frozen move them to a freezer bag.Chicago Metallic Non Stick Stuff It Up Pan

This was a good idea and it does work as described. However, as other reviewers noted, BE CAREFUL when removing it. It's hot and bubbles over. Even if you carefully remove it with the handles, you cannot prevent the spill-over.

I guess if you had it on a low boil rather than a rolling boil, it may be ok. Still, it's worth the money and does what it's supposed to. Just be careful when removing!

These things are advertised as fitting the smaller 2.75 inch cans. They simply don't. They're not even close. That's why I bought the bloody things.

Nothing fancy, more along the lines of finally finding these lids available online (I always forget to look for them when shopping in person). These lids have a "lip" around the part the fits over the can which comes in handy instead of using a fingernail or knife edge to lift the lid from the can, the "lip" serves as an excellent grip. The "handy" hook is useless.....it's the type of thing you see in any market, just the plastic strip that holds unopened packages of stuff on a long strip useless once one opens the packages....I can't imagine anyone would hang the strip and pull off a package of lids as needed. Packaging (I'm a PRIME member) was overkill.....plastic lids in plastic pouches on a plastic strip in another plastic bag, in a box big enough to hold a couple of shoe boxes, filled with air puff packaging....these aren't fragile by any means. Now....let's see how these lids hold up :)

I just recieved this kettle to replace a rival hotpot. The Rival lacked an on-off switch. It also gave off some strange tastes and some say stainless is better than plastic that way.

I reheat coffee and heat canned goods in the hotpot as it's easier for me than the range and the wide opening on this hotpot allows one to clean it easily though the lid won't lift as far as you'd like.

On recieving this kettle my first thought was the base was of light gauge plastic seemed a little cheap. But I suppose that's ok if it turns out to be durable. Next I was amazed that the stainless vessel was of lighter gauge than I expected. This is probably all good though. Some reviewers of the other stainless kettles remark that they are heavy and get 'dangerously' hot. This one is actually reasonably light to maneuver. And if I boil 2 cups of water turning it off myself which is before the automatic shut off the stainless is just warm at the top; not really hot. If it doesn't wear out this is fine for my needs. Also it looks like the picture. I give it one star for the appearance of the polished stainless, but that is subjective. Have to admit though, it cleans good.

3 year later: Still works fine and I've fired it up every day 3-5 times. V Fine.

I have had this kettle for about a year, and have been very happy with it. However, a couple weeks ago I started having the problem that many other reviewers here have complained about, the on/off switch not staying on. Curious, I opened up the bottom of the kettle, and found the two wires going to the heating element had melted together, causing an intermittent short. I have reported this to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, and I hope that something will be done.

This has all the feature I wanted when I was looking for a electric pot to heat water for coffee. Its stainless steel so no plastic taste. Lid opens wide so its easy to fill and clean. No element inside the pot to interfere with cleaning the inside. It lifts off the base so that you can take it to the table. The large window shows the water level. This is our second one of this model. We had the first one for years until we broke it. The new one has a improved spout so that water pours out without spilling on the counter. I can't imagine someone buying any other model when this one has all the features you need for a heating water for coffee of tea..

This is the best I have found. I tried the Cuisinart kettle but the solvents used on the plastic parts (including inside) gave the water a terrible taste and smell. Most kettles had those plastic parts inside for the auto-shut-off mechanism but not this one (it is concealed in the cover)

It is compact and does not take much room on your counter, very quick and so far nothing negative to say about it at all.

I bought this because, let's face it, Alton Brown just rocks. He recommended it "Gear for your Kitchen". I was sick of using my regular stove top teakettle it would collect grease and dirt, requiring scouring on a regular basis. It was Murphy's Law that the kettle would whistle just when I had my hands full or was busy with something else.

This electric hot pot boils water just about as fast (I tested it myself). But it doesn't whistle and shuts itself off when it reaches a boil. AB recommended this one because of the large opening, and true to his claim, you can indeed cool the perfect hard boiled egg 6-7 at a time, actually. I love that it doesn't live on the stove where it collects grease (I've wiped the outside down twice in a year). I love that it's cordless. The only "downside" is that when I make tea, I make 2 qts at a time and the capacity on this is only 1.5 qt, so it could be just slightly larger (Oh and don't try to heat milk based things in it the clean up is horrid I tried to heat up chai in it).
