This is my very first piece of Staub (have several Le Creuset) and it is simply adorable! The first thing I did when I unpacked it was set it on my stove and it has been there ever since. I always wanted to try Staub and I doubt that I will be disappointed. I decided to try this piece first, as I knew it had to be beautiful and with Valentine's Day so near, I felt it was the one thing I should try.

The quality is obvious, as the finish and color are gorgeous and it is very heavy for the size, with a snug fitting lid.

I plan on serving red and white heart-shaped ravioli with Alfredo sauce (didn't think the usual tomato sauce would look too good with the bright red ravioli hearts) for Valentine's Day dinner and I will use the Staub heart to heat the sauce and serve it at the table. This piece is a little small, so I will probably primarily use it as my sauce and gravy pot year round. I love the idea of having a cast iron gravy pot as I feel I can leave it on my "warmer" burner while dinner is being prepared, and I won't experience any scorching or burning.

If I experience any problems when I actually start using it (I really doubt it), I will update this review. But, as for now, I recommend this to anyone who cooks with enameled cast iron and is looking for a cheery addition to their kitchen!

I bought this for my daughter to use to heat milk for her new baby girl. It's cute and is just the right size for a baby bottle. They suggest that you not microwave baby bottles, as the rays kill all of the nutrients in breast milk and regular mill as well.

I originally got this so I could make a big Turkish Coffee every morning, and that's all I did with it for weeks, and it is excellent at that, keeping the boil/foam in, making enough for a big drink and a snap to clean with just a nylon scrubbie and dishsoap in a moment. It heats quickly, looks great after dozens and dozens of uses and works great for the purpose.

HOWEVER, I've also used it to do reductions, melt butter, cheese, reheat gravy, quickly make hot tea, blanch grape tomatoes, and a bunch of other little things that you'd normally use a small or medium saucier to do. The base on this is heavy: it heats evenly... across the flat bottom. Keep the flame within the diameter of the disc... which is good. You won't use as much energy and your water/sauce/gravy, whatever, will boil!

The only warning I would offer is a handling one and a cleaning one. The handle does get hot, because the pot is not very wide, so heat rising up the side heats the extra heavy gauge wire handle. Use a mitt or potholder. Also, NEVER EVER USE STEEL WOOL OR ABRASIVE POWDER on the inside: the reason is that the measurements are lightly etched, not deep etched, on the inside. You could wipe them away in a few cleanings if you're not careful. Soak for ten minutes, use a nylon scrubby if needed for burnt milk or chocolate, and you're good to go. Remember to keep the disc clean from any build up so you don't get hot spots!

this is the second one i have had of this item...the first one i had for a few years...i used it every day...basically, i used it for water, but periodically it was called into service for things like oatmeal or soups...i loved the size, the ease of cleaning it, although how dirty can it get from boiling water...i loved that the handle never got hot...this item was called to duty several times during the day and it always sat on top of the stove...i loved that i could see from the inside how much liquid i was pouring into it...

one day, i was cooking the water for tea...i went into the bedroom to look something up on the computer and somehow, i got involved with my computer...i totally forgot about the water on the stove...about twenty minutes later, i returned to the kitchen and an awful smell, only to find that my water was gone and the bottom of the pan was black inside and out...i scrubbed and scrubbed, but most of the black would not come off...i then tried to boil water again in it only to find that it sat and rocked on the burner because i had warped the bottom of it...i tried to use some different pots, but i found that i missed the measurements on the inside and the ease of the handle that stayed cool for pouring and after about 5 days, i searched the computer for another one, which i found on amazon and we are now living happily ever after together...now, when i am boiling a cup or 2 of water in it, i hang around in the kitchen until it is done...

so, thankfully, my story ended well... purchasing this item on amazon was great...it arrived in a few days...i have always had good luck purchasing on amazon and delivery has always been speedy...my first pot has now been relegated to watering a plant or two and will probably end up as a plant holder or be relegated to my grandchildren's sandbox, but the problem was with me, not with it...i guess it would be great if it had a loud whistle that could be heard all around the house, that would go off when someone left the room and forgot about it...i bet i am not the first person that has done this...hope you don't make the same mistake....

Having already owned one of these for 5 yrs, I decided to order a second one for the camper.

This little pot is THE PERFECT SIZE, fits EXACTLY over the small burner on your stove. MEASUREMENTS are MARKED INSIDE !!! How perfect is that?? "Add water to here, add milk to here, add mac/n/cheese mix, etc"

I have also found that it is PERFECT for boiling One Dozen Eggs.

If you do happen to burn the outside when cooking over an open fire, etc, it CLEANS UP EASILY with one of those little Scotch Pad sponge things.

What else can I say, I LOVE this awkward looking little pot.

It's so nice when a simple cooking device is done well. The heating is uniform, the pan is light (read: easy to hold while rinsing) but lies very flat (no runoff of liquids), and nothing sticks (we add butter for the flavor). I like the feel of the soft grip handles but it does get too warm to handle because our gas rangetop shoots heat across and around the edges of the griddle. It was a great way to get my husband to cook for me since there is next to no cleanup involved for his quesadillas and eggs. Lots of space for bacon too although the low rim will permit more splatter than a deeper pan. Enjoy!

Bottom line, you buy one of these mainly to make pancakes. The Anolon Double Burner Griddle is better than a traditional frying pan for pancakes because you can fit more on it at one time, which means less time in the kitchen and more time eating those tasty little crumpets while they're still hot. The kids also get less whiny when you can serve them all at once instead of doling out a few pancakes here and there or worse, serving them all at once when they've gone cold.

Turns out, it's also good at French toast, eggs, bacon, quesadillas and grilled cheese sandwiches. Added bonus: you only have to add butter or oil if you like the flavor, because after owning and using this thing for two months, I have to admit, it truly deserves to be called nonstick (unlike so many "nonsticks" that have disappointed me after the first few uses).

Some might point out that at 10 inches wide, this griddle is too narrow to fit all their breakfast items at once. Well get two, they're a slim profile and lightweight and at about fifteen bucks less than the Circulon, you can probably afford it.

My 22-year-old recipe for Frickin' Fantastic Pancakes:

1 cup Buttermilk, 1 cup flour, 1 egg, 2 Tablespoons oil, 1 Tablespoon sugar, 1 tsp. baking powder, ½ tsp. baking soda, ½ tsp. salt.

Heat your griddle to med-low. Mix ingredients in a large bowl with a balloon whisk until just a few lumps remain (no overworking allowed). Pour on the griddle (you know what size you like) and watch for the bubbles in the center of your pancakes to signal it's time to turn. Flip, cook a few more minutes, serve, and notice how much better this is than that mix stuff.

Works perfectly. We have a Wolf ceramic cooktop and so a decent griddle must be perfectly flat. This is. We've had it for months. It wipes clean in hot water with a once-over with a soapy dishcloth. Nothing sticks. Of course, we take care of it. We don't overheat it and we don't immerse directly into water when it is hot. Our stove has a bridge element between the two round elements and we get perfectly even heat across the griddle within degrees when tested with an infrared thermometer. The handles have silicone or something to insulate them so you can position or move the griddle without grabbing for a hot pad. There is a pour spout at one end for draining bacon or sausage grease. Cook breakfast for a crowd in nothing flat. You can manage 6 hearty pancakes at once or 6 fried eggs can be done to a perfect over-easy without overlapping or crowding. Suddenly I look like a seasoned short-order cook for a house full of company. Solid value. Easily worth more in my opinion.

I have owned two of these pans. The first wore out after several years of daily use. Note that the package says "non-stick" and not "non-stick forever". Eventually, all non-stick pans wear out. Out of the box, this pan is magic. Nothing will stick and it cleans up beautifully. The pan is also nice and thick. I have never had a problem with warping, however heating this pan really hot and then rinsing it in the sink could cause warping. To maximize the life of the pan, be sure to NEVER use aerosol oils such as PAM on the pan. The propellant in the can burns at a lower temperature than the oil, and ends up burning in the pores of the pan surface. It will not take long to destroy the non-stick finish. Also, allow the pan to cool COMPLETELY before washing it to prevent any warpage. No gritty cleaners either. The pan should last for many years and then you can buy another one.

I have a KitchenAid ceramic/glass electric cooktop that has the ability to combine two burners into a single oblong heated surface and have been looking to find a suitable griddle for this burner. This griddle is sized perfectly and seems to be highly recommended, so I gave it a shot. Granted, the manufacturer does not outwardly say that this griddle will work with an electric cooktop, but after reading a few reviews it seemed like a safe bet. Unfortunately the first one I received was warped very badly and did not sit flat on the cooktop (very important for a flat electric stove). I exchanged it for a second griddle, and to my disappointment, it was warped as well. I'm sending it back and will be continuing my search for a griddle.

I have owned this for almost a year and I love it. It takes some getting used to and is much thicker than cooking twine, but it always holds the bird together and the stuffing inside. Have only used it once, but what a breeze to sew up a turkey, so nice to be able to start at the end of the turkey cavity, sew all the way to the top, leave the loop in place , while it cooks, cut loop and turkey skin out, all is one piece, only trick to is make sure you do not cut the loop, when you go to get the dressing.

I buy many kitchen gadgets, some I use only once, then they go to the cutlery drawer, never to see the light of day again, others, I really like and use all the time, the silicone loop will be reused many times, it is so handy and makes stuffing a turkey so much easier. Any one that likes to cook should invest in this handy little tool. So far I have bought 8, have given them to friends and family. First of all, let me say the set is beautiful to look at. They are all shiny, even on the inside. However, that's where the story ends for me in positive light.

In this day and age where almost everything sold is made in China, we take special effort to find items that touch our food that is not made there. With this in mind, I first wrote to Berghoff USA asking where they were made. The response I got is that they are imported from Belgium, but specifically where they were made was smoothly avoided answering.

Anyways, wanted to give it a try and ordered. No where on the box nor the cookware does it state where they are made (very strange, indeed), which made me suspicious. Alright, then we noticed small imperfections and scratches. Alright, since it was a hassle to unpack we wanted all the reasons to keep this and decided to try it. After just one use, we noticed the floor of the pot was blackened in several spots, like pits. The chrome was taken off after one use in such spots. This raised all sorts of alarms for us. After mulling whether to go through with the difficult packing we decided to send it back to Amazon and order something made in France in lieu of it. I would say this set is not worth the price. There are several sets that are cheaper that are made in China by famous labels (typically their mid to lower end models) that are much better quality. I would say I would not really recommend this.

I currently have Cuisinart stainless steel set as well as other pieces of cookware and when I saw this BergHOFF Earthchef Acadian 12-Piece Cookware Set on lightening deal, I decided now is the time to upgrade. There was one other review when I purchased this set rating it 3 stars because it is suspected this set is made in China and I do not know about that.

When the box arrived I was surprised at how heavy this cookware set is. For the amount of money I paid, I was expecting a lighter-weight set as the heaviness usually is roughly equivalent to price and this is a very heavy set. The bottoms are very thick and that is where most of the weight is I think. The set looks very well made and well packaged and very shiny. On my cuisinart set, the bottoms are slightly angled in whereas on this set of BerHOFF Earthchef Acadian, the bottoms continue to same line making a very sharp clean attractive edge and design that I appreciate.

While the heaviness is something most people would look for as a sign of quality, I am in the kitchen often and don't want to get a gym workout just from cooking. I prefer lighter weight pieces so I don't need to strain from the weight when the pots are full.

This is the first set of cookware I've bought in many years. We have a ceramic top range and most lighter pots and pans spin when heating. These are heavy enough to stay put but not so heavy my wife can't lift them when full. They transfer heat better than most other stainless I've used and frankly they are the best pieces I've used since I was in the restaurant business. I've recommended these to friends who were looking and a couple of them found the BergHOFF line to be just great.

I received the set in excellent condition. They look very good hanging on my pot rack that I built from an antique cast iron floor register grille, shabby sheik. The only thing that I noticed that might be a concern for some, is that the outer edge of the pan lids is very thin, and if you drop a lid, it can and does bend the edge, a rolled edge would help, but would then make the set more expensive. I was able to straighten the edge out. If like me, you hang your pans up, you still need a place close by to store you lids. They are made in such a way that a crafty person can make a lid rack that holds them vertically from small to large. I made mine from old steel and then after welding together and dressing of the welds, I sprayed it with clear satin lacquer, once again very shabby sheik. My wife loves them, and that was a hard sell because as she said " we don't need pots and pans, we have a set of circulon pans that u had to by" . That was ten years ago and the coatings was almost completely worn away. These new pans are not coated, and should last much longer. Another reason I like this set is it consisted of a complete range of lidded pans, and not a bunch of skillets. We fry and sautée with cast iron skillets, so I did not want a set with more skillets. Been using the new set for two months now, cook every meal from scratch, so we have used them extensively, still love them, worth every dime.

To other reviews, in the box says Belgium. They are heavy and shiny, very easy to clean, for my surprise because usually in stainless steel the food tends to stick, but not on this set. So far not a problem on that area...just one tip I cook on medium to low heat (mostly low),They cook faster than the other stainless steel set I had.I simply Love them, they are beautiful and well constructed, in comparison I brought another piece from Cuisinart but this set is heavier and better constructed, I would recommend it to anyone. Not disappointed at all. They look like they are going to last a long time.

This can _only_ be mounted (attached) to the wall, contrary to what the Features say: "Can be mounted on a ceiling, under a counter or on a wall". It would be very difficult to attach it to a vertical surface and also flush against a fixed upper horizontal surface (e.g. against the ceiling or against the counter bottom) due to the close proximity of the upper mounting hole to the top of the rack. The distance between the top of a drill and the center of the drill bit is larger and will limit how close the rack can be mounted to the horizontal surface.

That may be why the picture shows a non-fixed upper horizontal surface (shelf) that could be added after the rack is mounted to the wall.

With that said, the unit is sturdy and clean looking. I'll be replacing the supplied wall anchors with more robust connectors. Three stars due to the anchors and misleading (to me at least) description.

Find a stud or deal with a sagging wine glass rack. Installed it per directions but the anchors given with product are not sufficient to hold it on to dry wall only.

This pot set is a great value for the price. Not stainless steel or the other high end potsbut good aluminium pots and they work well for some types of cooking. I thought the price was too good to be true, but I was really impressed when I opened the boxI expected really thin and flimsy pots but was greeted with good quality pots.

Con: The product description section is misleading there are 2 different descriptions with different size pots in each. The first one is accurate you get the 8, 12, 16 and 20 qt pots, 4 steamer inserts and 4 lids. Hope it's corrected soon.

Would recommend if you are familiar with aluminium pots and want a good household use set, and you can handle cooking with pots other than non stick etc.

I was able to pick this product up for around $25 and at this price it was WELL worth the money. Right now the current price is about $75, and honestly at this higher price I'm just not sure if it's worth it. The largest pot is VERY nice size, large enough for us to cook about 3 pounds of pasta with plenty of room for the water. Never tried the steamers out, and highly doubt we ever will.

Either way....for the right price...this is a great product.

If I could criticize anything, I'd replace the swiveling hooks.

Sounds good until you use them, as the pot handle bumps the hook,

Unfortunately this item was returned due to the poor workmanship. I debated whether to keep it or not since it is only around $10 with free shipping piggybacked with another item I ordered, but the flaws were just too obvious to ignore, and I know I will not feel good about using it. There were many sharp unfinished edges from the casting and a few rusty patches on the cooking surfaces as well. The posted picture with this item does not seem to adequately show its true design and dimensions. On the top of the list, the handle is also annoyingly too short, making it really awkward to use. A better made and designed version is available CostPlus for 5.99 at their retail store.

I was hoping for a pan in which I could make an over-easy egg for breakfast but the bottom of the pan is so rough that when you remove the egg, there are small black pieces on the egg. I didn't want to get my iron for the day by eating fragments from a cast iron pan. I have seasoned the pan over and over and nothing changes.

Kettle emits more of a droning horn than a whistle when the water is boiling. The quality is acceptable but this is not a future heirloom. Instructions warn against using over high heat on gas range. I would rank as 5 stars if I had paid under $20.

Update: yes, if the kettle is filled to the level of the spout the whistle does does not readily sound. We rarely heat more than two servings so this is not a problem for us. Still using daily as of July 2013!

This kettle was purchased for me by my son-in-law for Christmas. It's delightfully heavy and really pretty. But it doesn't whistle. I've almost burned it on the stove twice because I've forgotten that it was on and got busy doing other things. Too bad. This wine rack is a very beautiful fixture to have on your bar or kitchen counter. You have to be careful when placing larger wine bottles on the rack because they seem to slide forward. However, once you get the bottles situated in a secure position, it creates a beautiful setting.

I needed a smaller wine rack to fill a small space, with just a bit of flair, but not too "girly". It was actually a present for my nephew's 21st birthday. I picked it out because he wanted something decorative, but just enough to hold a few bottles in his small, cramped apartment. He has nearly NO counter top space in the kitchen or dining area, so this was perfect. He received it in just a few days and loved it.

It is made of heavy steel construction and hold three bottles nicely. Once loaded with bottles, it sits no taller than a bottle of wine itself, is approx. one bottle wide and one bottle deep. So, it will go nearly anywhere he has a small place to set it.
