I bought this to keep in my oven to help with oven temperatures. I took it out to wipe something off of after using it for just two days and it broke in half. Since I wasn't planning to use it for pizza I just kept it and put it back in the oven. Definitely be gentle with this stone though, it breaks VERY easily!Tuesday, September 30, 2014
Cheap Italian Origins 14-1/2-Inch Jumbo Pizza Stone and Rack with Jumbo
I have never used a pizza stone before so I cannot compare this stone to others. It is a great improvement over cooking pizza on a cookie sheet. The handles on this stone are quite useful. The size seems just right for a medium size pizza. We have used the stone for over a month and it is holding up quite well. My only complaint is that it is impossible to clean. You are not suppose to use water or soap on the stone, but how do I get burnt cheese off the stone?

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This pan has been very very good. It is very well constructed and has an even heat inductance. It's heavy, but has a very comfortable handle and the non-stick surface has been the best I've ever used. This is certainly the most expensive pan I've ever owned, so I cannot comment on its performance next to other pans in it's price range, but it FAR out performs my previous fry pan (a $50 Calphalon pan from Target). In the end, my only real concern is the price. So far, I really do feel it's been worth it, but only time will tell. If the pan holds up well under extended use then it will prove to be a wonderful product worth the high price.
Quality and craftsmanship is something that Scanpan takes seriously. The pan is Pfoa-free and while it's safe for metal utensils, I've never used them on my non-stick skillets. I always use silicon or plastic utensils and I always hand wash them. Even though they almost always say dishwasher safe I just never like putting expensive items like this in the dishwasher. If you keep care of it, the pan will last a long time. With that said, the pan has gotten a bunch of use and has cooked all types of food. It has held up considerably well. It's not easily scratched and surface (inside and outside) maintains its finish.
I've not had any problems with food sticking in this pan or any other Scanpan that I've owned. Cooks evenly and works on smooth glass top surfaces (as well as most other cooking surfaces). Clean up is a snap.
The fry pan is oven safe up to 500 degrees. I find the weight of this particular pan to be of medium weight. Certainly not heavy, but not the lightest I've ever held. On the lighter end, somewhere in the middle. Of course, something of this quality is bound to have some weight to it, but it's still easy to handle and use. My only gripe with Scanpan are the sizes of some of their pans. At 10.25-inch, you'll likely find that most of your existing lids are not going to work.
Heats evenly, cooks beautifully with oil or dry -even made pancakes to test the heat conductivity, cooked them perfectly! Even better than my griddle designed to cook pancakes. This pan would be ideal for crepes also.
This is a fairly shallow pan, lower edges/sides than any other saute pan I have ever owned, I really love it -easier to remove eggs, pancakes and other delicate items. While the sides of pan are not deep enough to stir fry large amounts of veggies like fresh spinach or chard, it works great for most everything else including onions, asparagus, bell peppers, eggs and sauces.
The handle has a nice padded grip, easy to hold and the overall weight of the pan is very good, not so heavy it gives me carpel tunnel, but sturdy and solid quality -the thickness of the bottom of the pan keeps the base perfectly flat, even tho my oven burner isn't! And the non-stick coating may be the best quality I have ever used.
Excellent!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've owned a few Scanpan pans over the years. I also recently purchased a new ceramic glass top range and have slowly been replacing my cookware. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a solid, heavy pan. Strange instructions to heat first then add oil. Not sure why. Heats very fast. Handle is comfortable but I don't love the plastic feel. Although heavy, I did acquire a dent pretty quickly...maybe one of the kids dropped it. The non-stick is excellent. I would highly recommend this.Honest reviews on Scanpan IQ Fry Pan

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This has got to be the nicest non-stick surface I've ever used. I am not a master chef by any means. I like a lot of things extra well done and sometimes I accidentally burn stuff and have to scrub the charred food from my pans. The non-stick surface is like something that arrived from another planet. I can practically use one pass of a paper towel and get all the crud out of the pan. Unlike other non-stick surfaces, it's fairly easy to brown your food without adding a ton of butter. It's the only non-stick cookware I've ever used that advertises that the use of metal utensils is fine. We don't have an induction stove, so I cannot review that functionality but I've been very impressed with this light weight, but very durable pan. My other pans' lids fit this one perfectly as well. A fine piece of cookware for any kitchen.Review of Swiss Diamond Induction Nonstick Soup Pot - 5.5 qt (10")

While expensive, the pans are almost worth the price. They are truly non stick, very well made and if they are not toxic, then they are worth the price. The pan is sturdy, yet manageable, and the right size for making pots of chili, stew or homemade soups. The Swiss Diamond pans (of which I have 5) are quite easy to use and can be used on gas, electric or induction. I hope to one day switch to induction as it is much more efficient and responsive than electric or gas so I have to be careful what new pans I buy and it is very difficult to find non-stick induction ready cookware. Swiss Diamond has solved my problem. Any new pans I buy will be Swiss Diamond.Best Deals for Swiss Diamond Induction Nonstick Soup Pot - 5.5 qt (10")

I've used the Kitchenaid hard anodized cookware for more than 5 years and continue to love them. They're a good, solid weight with durable glass lids. There are of course many less expensive sets available, but those typically won't hold up under heavy use.
Hard anodizing does not involve Teflon or any other applied coating; it's a process of submerging the aluminum in acid, then charging it with an electrical current which causes a corrosion-resistant coating of oxidization to build up. Hard anodized cookware is considered to be stick resistant but not completely nonstick. It is supposedly healthier since there's no (possibly carcinogenic) coating that can flake off into your food. Who knows.
If you use the cookware on high heat, after a while the black color on the exterior starts to turn ashy/spotty and the inside develops small fissures in the coating. The pots are still stick resistant, but not as much as when they were new. I'd say they're very durable but they're not going to be passed on through generations like a well-seasoned cast iron pan might be.
The pans are very sturdy but they're also heavyweights; if you have hand pain or weakness when grasping, they might not be for you.
I'm happy enough with them that I'll continue to re-order the same thing whenever I need a replacement or supplemental size.
Update It's been a while now and they're still performing perfectly. I feel an obligation to make fun of the people that gave these a one star rating because "a magnet won't stick to them" ... Yes, they're aluminum, Einstein. And, to the other person that was upset because their electric stove discoloured the bottom....Sigh. I guess some people will never be happy with anything. I wonder if they realize a real set of cookware can cost upwards of $1k. For 100 bucks, these are awesome. Don't expect a bmw when you're buying a toyota, know what I mean?

I usually write longer reviews but this one is pretty simple. The pots and pans are a very good deal for the money. Considering that this entire set costs what just one professional pan could cost, it's worth it. The pieces are light and strong, cook evenly, clean easily and are built well. They're about the same as the low-end Calphalon lines you see in the store but about half the price. I bought these pots when i was moving into my first apartment on my own, sick of using crappy pans and pots. that was about 2.5 years ago. I treat my pans well though i use them often but these are still like brand new with nonstick intact and easy cleanup. I received this set as a gift and I looove it. It pretty much has everything I needed. I like the fact that the lids are clear so I can see my food's progress without loosing heat. I was a little concerned at first about the fact that the lids didn't have a steam release hole in them, but quite frankly, they don't need one. They sit on top of your pot or pan prefectly; letting out steam easily and without jiggling. These pans are the perfect weight, not too heavy, but not flimsy in the least. I love that the handles are heat resistant. My frittatas slide out of the pan with ease and cook evenly.Discount Taylor Connoisseur Digital Folding Probe Thermometer

We have had it a little over six months and have used it perhaps once or twice a week successfully. It now shows the three L's. The instructions say that the temperature is out of range when you see that. In my case it shows the L's when I open it and shows the temperature when I close it making it unusable. I wrote to Taylor and got no response...so much for customer service. I am sending it to Taylor under the one year warranty and will update this when I get a result, good or bad.As promised here is the update:

As a young man, I was trying to perfect my grilling ways and this thermometer seemed like it has it all, and it does. The thermometer's temp settings help out a lot to be able to get the perfect level of doneness for everything from steaks to chicken. I bought one of these from Lowe's this past summer, to go in the RV while camping. It works so well, that I found myself "borrowing" it from the RV when grilling at home. To make sure I don't forget to return it before our next trip, I decided to buy a second one for the house. I especially like the bright LED indicators that tells me when the meat is rare-medium-well, in addition to the digital temp readout. Lowe's doesn't stock these right now since it's winter time, so I was happy to find one here on Amazon.ROMA COLLAPSIBLE WATER BUCKET Reviews

World Cuisine 14.12-Inch x 2.5-Inch Black Steel Paella Pan Reviews
It is what it says it is, a very solidly built pan, nicely deep, which I happen to prefer over the shallow paella pans. I seasoned it by wiping the interior with canola oil and putting it on the fire, moving it around so that all areas got very hot and darkened nearly to black with repeated applications. You can't rush this. It just takes several application and heat treatments of just enough oil to coat the surface. Upon cooking my first batch of paella in it, I got the expected and desirable crust on the bottom, but some hot water and just a dish cloth cleaned it up fine. It heavy enough steel that the heat is pretty well distributed. I'm very happy and looking forward to the better method of cooking paella on the grill. I did have some areas where the seasoning looked to have been substantially removed after the first washing, but a couple of rounds of oil treatment filled them in.

We have used this pan often since Christmas. In fact it has become one of my favorite pans. You do have to put a small amount of oil on the inside so that it won't rust. It is functional and looks good too.Best Deals for World Cuisine 14.12-Inch x 2.5-Inch Black Steel Paella Pan
I am not a certified paella master but I know my way around a kitchen, and this sure seems like a pretty decent pan, especially for the money. It has higher sides than some paella pans but this is a good thing, no spills or boil-overs when you first pour the broth in. Like any steel or iron pan it takes some curing with oil to make it non-stick, but with some time and patience it will happen. I would never want Teflon on a paella pan, given the temperature you need to get the "paella crust" (at high temperatures Teflon and other nonstick coatings can release toxic compounds). I find that this size pan makes a paella for about six normal adults, or four ravenous ones.Honest reviews on World Cuisine 14.12-Inch x 2.5-Inch Black Steel Paella Pan
I've only used this once so far but it produced a really good paella with a crunchy bottom, exactly what I was trying for. I purchased this cassoulet bowl in cherry and flame just to see how they would be for soup bowls. I think these are perfect for dinners where soup is the meal (chili, chicken and dumpling, etc.) They are a very nice size, for a generous portion. We don't fill them to the top, but about 2/3rds full, and it's a meal. I use the salad plate in the same color (or swap them, as all the colors in Le Creuset are compatible) as the liner for the bowls and it makes an attractive setting on the table. They wash very well in the dishwasher and no problems putting them in the microwave. I plan on getting at least four more as I can afford it. (These are not cheap!) The flame bowl came with a large chip, but it was replaced promptly. So far, no marks left by silverware on the inside of the bowl. Very pleased!

I recently ordered four additional place settings as well as a few replacement forks/spoons of Dansk Torun. I have an original set from the mid 1980's. The new pieces were much lighter in weight, the spoons had different bowl shapes (both soup and teaspoon) and stamps on the back of each piece (including the 'made in China') were obnoxiously large and made the silverware ugly. I purchased these with a 'buy three get one free offe'r. Had I been aware of the poor quality of this recent edition of Dansk silverware I would not have purchased it new. I would have purchased used place settings from a replacement source.
These are amazingly inferior. Some of it is just quality: the spoons are shallower and have sharp edges. That's just cheaper forging. To add insult to inury, they also have a new shape which I don't like as well. The knife is similar to the original, but not as elegant.
If I'd known Dansk was going to do this I don't think I would have bought from them 10 years ago. I certainly can't recommend this set now.
1) Quality. I admit this is my first set of Dansk or Torun silverware, so I can't compare the quality to the product in the 1980s, but I will say I think this is very nice quality. It is 18/10 stainless steel, which is the highest quality grade. Also, it feels heavy, substantial, and expensive. And it's dishwasher safe, which is non negotiable for me.
2) Sharp edges on the spoons. I have no clue what that reviewer is talking about. Perhaps you had a defective set? I think the spoon edges are just a smooth as any other quality set.
3) Knives falling off. I disagree the whole reason why I purchased this set was because I was so impressed with a seeing a friend's set and the way all the pieces were made to balance....especially the knife. Nothing flops or falls on your plate and the place setting presentation is beautifully symmetrical with all pieces balancing upright. The product picture shows the knife resting on its side, but check out the Dansk Torun Stainless-Steel 3-Piece Hostess Set to see how it balances.

We got a set of Dansk Torun in 1999; it was a beautiful and functional set We wanted to get some additional sets, so we got this.

I had the EXACT same experience as the previous reviewers. I purchased this beautiful, and not cheap, flatware in the late 1980's. I loved it. After years of "kids", many pieces had "walked away" so I ordered some replacements. The difference in quality was truly stunning. This was the first time I really began to understand that the flight to Chinese manufacturing (read: cheaper manufacturing costs), was also a flight to inferior products. The spoons were not rounded on the edges; they were flat and sharp. The luster was not there, the weight was lighter, and overall the flatware had a "cheap" look to it when compared to the original. Honestly, you should get what you pay for. I replaced it all with Ricci and have not been disappointed. Caveat Emptor buyer beware.Honest reviews on Dansk Torun 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1
I'd like to address some of the other reviewer's complaints with my own experiences:1) Quality.

At $29.99 per place setting, Amazon is offering this pattern at outlet prices for Torun. I have owned this silverware for over 10 years, and it looks as good today as when I purchased it. The stainless is of the highest grade, 18/10, and this ensures that it will tolerate the dishwasher very well. Instructions that came with mine said to polish it once a year, but I have not found this necessary. The stainless is of a quality that it doesn't show scratches either. The design is timeless; it will be as contemporary 25 years from now as today. It is also versatile enough to use for every day and formal occasions. The only thing that takes getting used to is the knife; the curved handle allows for positioning the knife with the blade down. Also be aware that complementary and serving pieces are going to be expensive and hard to find. These can be located on Ebay or in any remaining outlet stores that Dansk may have.Monday, September 29, 2014
Discount Artland Iris Highball, 17-Ounce, Set of 4
We like glasses made of thick glass that kind of resemble the crackle glass styles of old. I think the price is reasonable: $5 apiece. We had another set of the amber color that have been our everyday glasses for over five years. They still look out of the box new. This glass doesn't seem to scuff like the cheap thin glass does.
Very disapointing.

Was searching for purple glasses I could use every day and am very pleased with this selection. The color is great. Liked the shape and weight. Also ordered the smaller (7-8 oz?) size and use them both every day. Amazon was the only source I found for this type of glass.Best Deals for Artland Iris Highball, 17-Ounce, Set of 4
These glasses, although beautiful, crack and shatter with little or no provocation.Very disapointing.

I'm in love with these cups! They are stunning in person. Not your typical glasses (which I love). They arrived on time and well packed. To me the glasses are thick and they have some weight to them. They not not likely to get chipped or cracked if they get hit softly. Overall I do recommend. The color matches the online photo. There were no surprises there.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Artland Iris Highball, 17-Ounce, Set of 4
I've had these glasses in red for over two years now and they still look beautiful! They are durable, very thick with a heavy base. They have a bubble effect, which looks great! They transition well from everyday to slightly formal dining. They have a mark on the bottom that I think is from being hand blown. Because of this, they are all just barely different heights, which you only notice when you put them away in the cabinet. If you are looking for glasses that won't break easily and look amazing, look no further!
