I love the colors and textures of Emile Henry products, and this one is the same as I have come to expect. It is another nice color to add to me kitchen. I also prefer the 45 degree decline with the wide opening, over some other options that are 90 degrees and one size through the entire opening. I find this more easily accessible to my larger hands than the other options.

I thought this would have a brushed coarse look but it doesn't, it is definately a glazed ceramic and I would have selected another color had I realized that. It is AWESOME though, I love it! Miraculously keeps the salt dry and I'd recommend to anyone, it's a bit pricey but I haven't looked back.

I used to have a small dish near the stove with some sea salt to sprinkle on stuff. I always felt funny that it was "open" to the air or random bits of oil splattering from cooking etc.

This design protects the salt a bit, though not fully. It is also attractive and has a nice heft to it. It sits solidly on the counter and doesn't slide easily. Size is perfect: I have small hands and they fit in easily to grab the salt. Someone with larger hands could still use it.

I've been using this pan for cooking eggs every morning for several weeks now. It's working well, but to keep it that way, I plan to

cook only eggs in it and use the minimum amount of heat needed. Sometimes it does stick a little but comes loose with a little push. I do use "better butter" (part butter and part canola)and try to spread a thin coat also a bit up the sides sometimes by using a pastry brush. There seems to be no pan that maintains a perfect non-stick ability. This pan is heavy which does make it function better. I bought it because of the resaonable price, because the non-stick surface is supposed to be more eco-friendly, and because of the Farberware name.

bought it as I did not want to buy teflon.it was difficult to clean from the start -it didn't feel like non stick. I used it to make omelet, and heat some indian tortillas---the gray surface turned brown --with 2-3 uses and now 1 mth later the pan is completely black. It was a total waste of money. I never put it in the dishawsher. I don;t want cookware to last forever but this didn't last even a wk .. would never recommend to buy it .

I wanted an Earthpan because I heard great reviews of them in Consumer Reports. I am a pretty serious home chef and was willing to pay an inordinate amount of money for a non-stick pan that cooked well and cleaned easily. So I was pleasantly suprised to see this was reasonably priced. This pan cooks well but the pan is not easy to clean at all. I have had to use steel wool to get this pan clean. That's sucks. I mean I had to get out all kinds of elbow grease to clean this pan and I was upset by that.

My Earth Pan Hard Anodized Nonstick 10 inch skillet was a big disappointment. Because I have had many non-stick fry pans over the years and I realize that their life span is short even though we follow all the directions, I thought that this product seemed more durable and more able to fit my needs. I followed all the many directions for use (including ones we weren't warned about because we have a Corning stove top) but it was purchased August 18 online from Amazon, and here it is May 18, 2011 and a cast iron skillet compares favorably to it (and would have been much cheaper).

I recently purchased this 12qt stockpot with a pasta insert and cover, and I couldn't be more pleased. The pot is beautifully made, with very confortable handles (another reviewer noted the finger grips -a nice touch) and the lid fits perfectly.

I used it for the first time to cook 2 chickens and make stock. Both chickens fit easily in the pot, yet allowed enough space for adequate water. It was very easy to bring the pot to a boil and then reduce to a very slow simmer, just a bubble or two breaking the surface. I used the simmer burner on my gas stove, and for the first time was able to maintain a simmer with the lid tightly on. With my old stockpot (large enough for only one chicken) even with the simmer burner at the lowest setting I could not maintain a simmer with the lid tightly on the pot.

The pasta insert made it a breeze to remove the chickens when they were cooked, and reduce the stock while I picked the meat off the bones and returned the bones to the pot in the insert to cook longer, more fully flavoring the broth. Removing the insert removed the bones and other parts, making straining the stock a simple one-step process. This same process with the pasta insert will make blanching vegetables from the garden MUCH easier and faster, and I'm looking forward to freezing the veggies from next summer's garden.

The pot is weighty and solid, yet With a full pot of water I can still lift and carry it, which I could never manage with an All-Clad 12qt stockpot.

I like this pot so much I just today ordered the Chef's Classic 7 piece set with bonus 2 1/2 qt sautee pan. I can hardly wait to have a lobster feed and sacrifice some of Maine's finest lobsters in this pot, served with sides cooked up in pots from my new set. I highly reccomend this stockpot and this cookware line.

No I don't need the huge several gallon type pot that I use to use when my family was at home, but this is just the right size to fit and boil corn, asparagus, and the chicken for soup or stew.

The handles are very comfortable and they really DON'T get hot. It, along with my other very small Cuisinart Chef pot are the only items I can ever recall that got a comment from my husband saying.. Whatever you paid for this it was worth it.

And he doesn't cook.. just puts the food away.

Cleans up well and I don't have to worry about scratching some coating or other.

I like it. It is very functional and nice looking..can't beat that.

Best Deals for Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Stockpot with Cover

This review is very similar to one I wrote for another item in the Classic line, because the flaws I mention are endemic to the design of this particular series.

These pots come with a cover that seals if desired (using steam to form the seal). That's a plus, for further cooking process while the burner is off.

Another plus is that it heats evenly, and stays very warm even after sitting away from the burner for a while. (Five stars for this feature.)

The quality of the material is great and the pot is easy to clean in that it is made of stainless steel.

I do definitely like the weight of these Cuisinart pots; regardless of which line they're from. The Classic line is a bit heavier than the Everyday line. The Classic has a thicker bottom. (Another five star feature.)

But, it does have its flaws. The negatives have to do with the rivets, which are large to the point of absurdity. The rivets on a one and a half-quart saucepan, are the same size as those on this eight-quart stockpot. I was raised with riveted pots, and the rivets were never an intrusion back then. They were flatter and smaller, and they held just fine.

A very large, sturdy rivet makes sense with cookware that is designed to hold extreme weight. This pot simply isn't that big.

The rivets on the cover make it more difficult to clean because they stick up. The way they're attached on the outside of the cover is sloppy, and unnecessarily bulky. The outer fasteners holding the cover's rivets, catch on sponges and cloths, and irritate me no end.

In the case of this pot, one of the rivets leaks. Not only is it annoying, but it raises questions in my mind regarding sanitation. If it can leak, it means that small amounts of liquidy foods can plant themselves between the rivets and the interior side of the pot. That's not good.

Unless the level you're filling the pot is to be fairly low, the ingredients will probably have contact with the rivets. In the case of a stockpot, boiling at some point is usual, and contact is then, most likely inevitable.

I rarely use this pot. It doesn't hold a candle to the five quart Cuisinart stockpot I bought here. THAT pot is a dream. See the next paragraph for my rave (between the asterisks) about it.

This is not a cruel and unusual complaint, but a statement of fact. I am surprised that a company like Cuisinart would be so careless in design. *Another item, from a different line of theirs, the Everyday line, is the best pot I've ever owned, and that includes my Le Creuset ware. * See my review of that item for comparison, if desired.

Knowing what I do about this item, I would not buy it again. I got it here on special for under $30.00. A bargain price to be sure. But it sits in a cupboard untouched, because I simply hate the way it's made.

The handles get very hot. The handles on both the saucepot of this line, and the stockpot of the Everyday line DO NOT get hot.

I'm a cook of the old school. I always use potholders, no matter what kind of handles there are on cookware. Just a habit of mine, but it's a good one to cultivate.

There is one case where I will/do use this pot, and that is for making thick, dried bean recipes. It's very well made in terms of material weight/thickness, and the composition of the bottom, which is almost as good as cast iron, such as you, have with Le Cruset. For the purpose of slow cooking as with many dried bean recipes, it's fine.

If this pot were available in the Cuisinart Everyday line, I'd jump on it like greased lightning, and give this one to the Salvation Army thrift store.

As a postscript to this comment, I must say that these pots are covered by a good warranty, and if it were not so much of a hassle for me to return the pot that leaks, I'm sure I'd get another one from Cuisinart with no problem. If I had paid more for it than I did, I would go to the trouble of returning it. I do perceive Cuisinart to be a very reputable company.

You can spend easily $200.00 and more for a pot this size, but why do that if you can buy this Cuisinart for less than one fifth of that. It has the same 18/10 stainless, the same bolted handles, the same tight fitting covers, but not the same price. The encapsulated aluminum disc bottom does the trick. Heat rises from the bottom of the pan to the top which means this type of pan will heat up just as fast and just as well as the competitors $200.00 pan will and at a fraction of the price. The Cuisinart was top rated in the leading consumer magazine just a short time ago and they take no ads and answer to no one.

If you have money to waste, spend $200.00 or more on the leading competition's pot, but if you's rather not blow the extra $150.00 then buy the Cuisinart.

As the others have said, this is a well made and attractive piece of cookware. The aluminum disc in the bottom provides for very even heat distribution. The heavy stainless steel construction helps to retain heat in the pot rather than sending it out into the room. I was able to maintain a low simmer for over six hours with my electric stove near its lowest possible setting. I'm very pleased with the performance of this pot.

If you happen to get a defective one like one of the other reviewers, you should be able to return it to any reputable store that sells this item, even if you don't have a receipt. The pamphlet that came with it specifically mentioned that you could do this in California and I can't help but think the big chains that carry Cuisinart would do the same thing no matter where you are.

The sizes and types of knives in this set are all you will need for any cutting, slicing, fileting, carving or chopping. There is also a knife perfect for cutting bread and one for sushi. The scissor is a handy feature. I have them in cobalt. The color is a true cobalt color. I love the fact that the handles are soft and the silver top is very attractive. They are comfortable to hold and easy to use. They are much better than wood handles, because wood handles can't sit in a wet sink without getting ruined. Wood handles also crack and peel after a while. These knives will last a lot longer. Only the bread knife is serrated. The others are easy to sharpen. They look like forged steel and are very sturdy. They wont bend while cutting. They have a good weight to them. The block is a real space saver too. These are my favorite knives by far!

Been using these for nine months now. Still as sharp as when I bought them. We hand wash all our dishes, so I can't say how they hold up under more vigorous cleaning, but I can say none of mine have rusted or shown any other signs of wear. We use at least two knives daily. The bread knife is great. We did keep one knife from our previous set, a skinny boning/paring knife we use daily, it happens to fit in the block, in the same hole as the scissors and resting on top of them. My only complaint, the block I got doesn't show any wood grain, like this picture implies. However, the block looks great as it is, the color is true and has held up as well. I am very happy with these, would recommend them and even buy them again if for some reason they disappear or my house burns down, gets washed away, blown away, you know, something like that.

My mother bought this for me after she bought one herself and loved it. She's a housewife and a crazy good cook, so she liked trying out the different recipes that the website offers. I am a college student and a pretty lazy/impatient one too, and this tray takes all the annoying parts out of cooking. I love crisp steamed veggies that you get at restaurants and this does a fantastic job of recreating that in my lonely apartment kitchen. I've even divulged a few times in making some entrees with it too. It's a big help when you want to eat healthy but just don't want to do the "cooking" portion of it. My favorite part of this is how delicious green beans and asparagus turn out when I use this steam tray. Crunchy, but not raw. Perfectly delicious.. I think it's a good buy if you're a poor college student who has to cook on their own, and also if you're a busy (or not busy, just love to cook) mom/wife/dad/husband who has to make food all the time for their family. It's pretty fun to experiment with too!

I got this as a gift in Feb '13. For 2 months I loved, LOVED this product. Used it almost everyday.... I steamed things, baked things, it was so easy. Veggies were crisp, but cooked. Meats were juicy & tender. Cleaning (if you don't have a dishwasher is annoying). BUT..... at about the 3 month mark, it started to smell more and more "plastic"... a weird silicon-ish version. And then it made my Veggies pick up this taste too. #*$@&(##$*$$ SIGH!!! Thankfully they are letting me exchange it. But, they & I have no idea why it got strange in the first place. My only guess is that it says it can withstand heat up to approx 220C which is about 420F. Sometimes I'll cook meat in the toaster oven at about 400, but never more than that. Maybe it couldn't handle it?? **TEAR**

I am in love with Lekue. I bought this steamer in addition to the Lekue Ogya, which is unfortunately not yet being sold on Amazon. The design is so smart that you can easily strain out leftover water without having to open it up or burning your fingers: just tilt it to the side and the water will stream through the cracks.

I have not used the tray insert at all yet, because I use this as a regular dish: it fits two sliced apples or two sliced potatoes, so it's a bit lower than expected. The Ogya I have is green, but I bought this one in red and would recommend the red color if you ever plan on using tomato sauce with it!!

Quick recipes I love:

1: Thinly spread outmeal on the bottom, slice two apples and spread stevi or a Tsp of sugar over it, and nuke the whole thing for 10 minutes.

2: Slice 2 potatoes and spread out layers of potatoes, tomato sauce and ricotta, cover with parmesan cheese and nuke for 10 minutes.

3: Nuke sliced tomatoes for 5 mins, then add frozen salmon for a few more mons, drizzled with lemon and sauce of your choice.

Also, check out Lekue's incredible recipes on either their Youtube channel or on lekue.be. Incredible because you never thought you could do all this in a microwave, in such a short time!! There is no faster way to eat healthy!

I bought this for center pieces for my daughter's birthday party and I added in movie snack/ treats. The bowls are absolutely adorable. Only thing I wish is that it was a little bit bigger but it is an individual size so I did expect it to be small to medium in size. The bowls are nice and durable. We have had it a little over six months and have used it perhaps once or twice a week successfully. It now shows the three L's. The instructions say that the temperature is out of range when you see that. In my case it shows the L's when I open it and shows the temperature when I close it making it unusable. I wrote to Taylor and got no response...so much for customer service. I am sending it to Taylor under the one year warranty and will update this when I get a result, good or bad.

As promised here is the update:

First: I changed my rating to a five star because of the wonderful return experience I had with Taylor. Sometimes things just break, the sign of a great company is how they deal with it. Taylor immediately shipped me out a new thermometer and the turn around time was great...Hooray for them. They have a customer with me. You can depend on them to stand behind their products.

This is exactly what I was looking for a solid, heavy, stable rack for my pots that was exactly the right size for the space. This is an industrial strength and made product there are places where the steel is welded together that might send some to the therapist if they were not interested in having the added strength that these welds provide. This is a seriously heavy pot rack and there is no way it should be installed unless into the joists of the kitchen read the manual carefully. Once installed properly, this is very stable. The grid and hooks that are enclosed are seriously strong, and stay in place when pans are removed from the rack. The simple reason I got this from Amazon was the price. The only complaint was that delivery required a signature, UPS left a note on Tuesday saying they would be returning wednesday between 2 and 6 PM. Circumstances changed and someone was home all the next day yes, UPS showed up at 10 AM I would have missed it and been down to my third delivery chance before the thing was returned to sender next time use FedEx if you can...

I received this pan today and made dinner for the family with it. It works well. The lid is reasonably well-fitting. I'm commenting here to note that when I saw this deal I wondered if it was too good to be true, but it's in fact the genuine article. And also this pan is significantly lighter than my fiveor six-year-old all-clad stainless 12" fry pan (which needed replacing after operator error) about 1.22 kg vs 1.38 kg according to my kitchen scale. That's a plus for ease of use and cleanup, but the reduced mass must mean less heat retention if the design hasn't changed.

This pan was recommended by America's Test Kitchen, and I can see why. It is the best pan that I have ever used. It is very even heating and has a large, useable cooking surface. It cleans up well with Barkeeper's friend cookware cleaner. It looks as good as it cooks. The pan is normally $130 without the lid, so at this price it's a bargain. Don't think twice, it's well worth it.

I bought this 12 inch All Clad skillet based on the reviews, the fact that it came with a lid, the price was great at Amazon. My landlord replaced my old 4 burner stove with a smooth top, and I needed to replace my 40 year old copper bottom Revere Ware because the bottoms were rounded.

I've been using my new All Clad pan for two or three weeks now and really like it, although I must admit I did have a learning curve to go through. The first time I used it, I burned the food and really made a mess of the inside of the pan. The temperature was way too high. It cleaned up nicely, though. I just used a little water with baking soda and let it soak for a while, then Barkeepers Friend and it was as good as new.

After experimenting for a while, I find if I cook at medium temperatures, everything turns out great and there's minimal sticking.

The balance of the pan is good, and weight is also good for it's size, but when the pan is full it's a little heavy. If I could make one suggestion on how to improve this product, I would say add a helping handle. Over all, I'm very happy with this purchase. I would rate this pan 4.5 stars.

After using this frying pan I will no longer buy the non-stick pans. This pan cooks so even and browns up so much better. I've purchased top of the line non-stick pans in my life only to be dissappointed shortly after I buy them. This pan is also beautiful. It shines up great. The lid is a plus. It is clear so you can see right thru it. Since I bought this pan and I like it so much, I also plan on widening my collection of the All Clad brand. The only down fall is the price. But if you shop around like I did, you will be able to find a pretty good deal.

In my zeal to pick up an All Clad 12" skillet WITH cover, I ignored all the posts declaring this poor quality. Oops. Not only did I buy one, but two. They arrived and when I took them out of the box, I noticed very course circular buffing in the steel around the edges--like a really bad wax job on a car, only these marks were in the metal. The rim around both pans was sharp! I felt my old All Clad skillets, and they are all smooth, perfectly shiny, nothing to notice. And that's their beauty. But these...impostors are horrible! They are, indeed, lighter in weight. All Clad should be ashamed of themselves for putting their name on them. It really cheapens the brand. Anyway, to anyone who is even remotely thinking of buying these, SKIP IT.

Did I mention that Amazon rocks, easy returns, no biggie. I lost $8 shipping. I deserve it.

We now have over 20 quarts of pickles thanks to this year's canning. We had been borrowing a very old pot from my parents. This one is much nicer, roomy, works well. I know the description says for "beginning' canning, but I don't know what else you could want our of a canning pot. My mother who has been canning for 60 years now wants to replace her old one and get one of these.

I searched everywhere to find a water bath canner that was approved to work on my flat-top stove. Everything that you use on the flat-top stove should also be completely flat or it could create air pockets and explode the glass stove top. So, this was it, I was so excited, this was the one that was approved for my stove top. Yippee! Or NOT, it was too large for my stovetop and my stove wouldn't even heat the water. So sad!!!

I have been using this cookware for a few weeks and I am very happy with them. We have a glass top stove and they are very flat on the bottom making for excellent heat conduction. Water boils twice as fast as the old pans we were using.

They go in the dishwasher and come out clean and shiny. We'll see how they look over time, but so far, they still look like new. The glass tops have a metal edge around to protect them. I love being able to see my food without removing the top.

The only complaint I have is that the insides stain a little bit when making tea, but it's no big deal.

I shopped numerous stores, read numerous online reviews, and consulted the top consumer magazine before buying this cookware. Many other sets had pans we don't need, and lacked pan sizes that my family use frequently. This combination of pan types and sizes fit our needs perfectly. For a while, I couldn't decide whether to by non-stick pans or uncoated. But my family is not careful with pans, so even the best quality non-stick surface won't last long. So I'm glad I bought stainless steel. Separately, I purchased a non-stick sautee pan, which is handy for times when non-stick is most helpful. The extra-thick, flat base on these pans conduct heat great on our ceramic stovetop, and don't warp like thinner pans. I did let a pan boil dry one time, and the base discolored very slightly as a result of my neglect. But it is hardly noticable when you compare the bottom with the other pans. The glass lids are nice, since you can see the contents when cooking (except when moisture obscures the view). One caution is that the lid handles get very hot, so you need a pot-holder to remove them. However, the pan handles themselves do not get too hot to handle. The pans look gorgeous, even after many uses and machine washings. And the pans nest/stack nicely, minimizing storage space. Before buying any cookware, be sure to check whether or not it is dishwasher safe many (especially non-stick) are not.

My daughter says these pans are great, the non-stick and able to go from stove top to oven option is terriffic. KitchenAid always makes great products. we always buy there line of products after we bought a stand mixer years ago, it was the only one that would last through all of our holiday baking.(I still have that stand mixer by kitchenAid today 15yrs and still going strong.)these pans i'm sure will last her a long time.
