We purchased this block after deciding that a) We had more knives then our old block could hold b) We had upgraded our knives to Henckels c) It looked fairly attractive in the picture.

This item looks great in the picture, what we received left us feeling a little disappointed. The picture illustrates nice wood grain with even finish and a 'beechwood' quality texture. What we received was a block with uneven finish, made from birch (I think). (Made in Canada) Much less attractive than illustrated.

There are an adequate number of slots for a basic knife selection. However, forget about using the carving fork slot unless you have a Henckels fork. Most other forks have a curved surface and won't fit the slot (we tried). Not so bad since it can be used for a sharpening steel instead.

All in all, not a bad purchase for the price. It's functional, but loses points for attractiveness.

Attractive block with a Henckels' logo to inspire brand loyalty ;-). Looks good and does its job well. Holds a honing steel, kitchen shears, two large bladed knives, four medium bladed knives, and two small bladed knives. Some items may stick out the back, but the open-backed design grants the luxury of not having to worry about blade length (this may be common in knife blocks, but this is my first one).

There are little rubber pads on the bottom which keep it stable and prevent it from scratching your counter-top. The only issue is that the block can really only hold 8" knifes at the longest. The holes for the knifes extend all the way to the back of the block, and if you try holding an extra long large cleaver or bread-knife it will poke out the bottom.

Boy, do I LOVE this piece! I got mine for a LOT less at an outlet store and it's just wonderful. I LOVE the purple color it's just gorgeous in a tuscan kitchen and this piece looks marvelous on the table. It does wonderfully in the oven it's not overly big so don't get it to feed a family of 5 or so. It's about 1.5 quarts. I get tons of compliments on these pieces and the purple, well, it's just original and if you're afraid of it, don't be. It's just a gorgeous color and one that I'm very glad to have introduced into my kitchen. I'm getting more! Highly recommended piece.

This covered casserole has been on my kitchen table nearly every night for the past twenty-ahem years, and has served us perfectly. It holds plenty of a main dish for 4-6 people, and if I'm serving a side dish from it, I can easily serve a dozen portions from it. The china is easy to clean, doesn't stick to food, and keeps food hot all through dinner. It's sturdy enough to make it through countless school and church pot luck dinners, and even little kids can't break it. Unfortunately after nearly a quarter-century of constant use, the casserole dish didn't withstand being dropped on its lid, handle side down. (the knob fell off)

As you might have guessed, I can't imagine serving dinner without my faithful old companion sitting in the middle of the dinner table. I'm just delighted that Amazon has my casserole, in the right color (black), and for a reasonable price: about two bucks a year, or half a cent per day. If you're looking for a stylish, sturdy and well made companion, you can't go wrong here.

I had the same skillet for about 3 years but the handle broke. I could not find a replacement in the stores but I liked it so much I searched on the Internet and found it at Amazon. I liked it enough to seek out another even though I know the handle may break again. It is because of the quality of the coating. Others I tried or saw other people use seemed weaker to me. However, it does scratch but it is superficial. I do not use metal utensils on mine even though it says you can. It does not come with a lid so I found a flat lid to use with it when needed. I have been using the new one several weeks and am pleased with the way it cooks and does not stick at all. Clean up is always a breeze. That is why I gave it four stars. I even use the broken one for a back up when I need two.

This pan is advertised as 12 inches, it even says so on the box, but is only 11-3/4. It is a nice looking pan, stainless steel with a hard base for even heating. I have no doubts about the quality of the nonstick on this pan, I researched nonstick coatings before deciding which pan to buy and Eclipse (also advertised as Innovex) which is what this pan has, is one of the best nonstick coatings around. It's just that I was purchasing a replacement for a worn out 12-inch pan, for which I have an expensive glass lid. It does not fit on this pan and all of my other lids are too small. The flat surface of this pan is small as well; only about 8-1/2 inches, where my old 12-inch pan has a flat surface of nearly 10-1/2 inches. Also beware that if the pan doesn't suit your needs, Ace Hardware Outlet has a restocking fee for returned items.

Works well but must flip it over after 1 min or one side done before the other side and omelet will be dry on one side and runny on other side. Never used one before so just learning. Bad thing about product there are no instructions on how to use; just have to experiement.

I have a bad back and I'm very tall, so standing at the sink is a real pain. This dishpan is perfect. It's HUGE, so even large items fit in it. Now I don't have to lean over the sink to wash dishes. It's also very attractive and very durable, so it's great for hauling a big salad to a party. The pan itself is okay. I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks extra for a bit thicker steel for better heat dissipation, though.

However, there is a big issue with packaging of this item. Amazon ships it in 2A6 box where the pan barely fits. The first one I ordered arrived in bubble wrap but, because of the tight fit between the pan and the box, the bubbles around the edge of the pan were deflated. As a result, one of the edges of the pan was bent and the porcelain coating chipped/cracked at the bend. I requested a replacement the replacement came in the same box type with no bubble wrap around the pan at all just some paper thrown into the box. Fortunately, it was in somewhat better condition the edge was slightly chipped, but not bent, and the chipping is on the outside so porcelain touch-up can be used to repair it (the touch-up should not come in contact with food).

I like this as a light-weight alternative to my existing pans, it's cheaper too. But the coating doesn't look as good as the other alternative pan I've tried from SilverStone2. Well, it's cheap enough that once I see anything bad like potential peeling off on the coating I can just throw it away. I bought this pot specifically for making chicken stock, and it did the job perfectly. The contents heated up quickly and evenly on my glass top stove. I was able to bring a full pot to a boil within a few minutes. With my old 4 quart RevereWare pot, it would take 15-20 minutes to bring water to a boil. This MIU pot obviously has good heat retention and distribution. The bottom is thick and heavy and the entire pot has a good solid feel to it. The lid fits properly, and there were no problems with sputtering or dripping from the lid. The glass is a nice bonus. You can check on your food without having to the lift the lid and lose heat. I have not used the steamer basket or pasta insert. Both fit well, though. The pasta cooker, when inserted, sits about 1 inch from the bottom of the pot, but I cannot comment on its performance. The steamer basket has a handle for lifting that's hard to see in the photo. It's unlikely that I'll use the pasta cooker or steamer basket any time soon, but if I do, I'll update this review.

Recently re-did and updated the kitchen and decided to update and organize the cookware. The two stock pots I had bought at a department store while servicable were really not much more than big tin cans with lids.

Saw this unit advertised as the weekly special at a higher end cutlery supply outfit and liked idea of combining a stock pot with a pasta cooker/strainer as my old strainer was out of a counter fryer and also getting a steamer. There was a couple of similair items I looked at some lower in price and some higher but this was a really good price and I did not see this store selling sub par products.

Arrived today and they do not sell sub par. I don't know where the other reviewer's pot came from but there is no comparsion in what he/she described and I got. The steamer is a heavy one piece stamped stainless steel piece with very well rolled edges like they should be with no gaps and the handles are the same size and are fitted well. Also must add the metal has a good ring to it when rapped.

The stock pot is very heavy with highly polished mirrlored (yes you can see yourself) sides and the encapsulated bottom is centered and attached well. It almost looks like one piece. Sides are not enscapulated but are thick enough to conduct heat while resisting dings. You can tell this would heat well and quickly and hold enough heat to not need a lot of bottom temp to cook which should cut down on potential burning. The inside is not shiny polished but is attractive and finished in a matt polish.

The pasta cooker is made the same way and fits well into the stock pot as does the steamer and the lid fits all three pieces like it should. Oh by the way all three pieces outside is a mirrorpolished finish.

The handles did I mention the handless. Well made comfortable and attached firmly. The have a smooth polished texture and are big enough to get a good grip.

Found out a little more about MIU France and they make quite a bit of metal culinary items including a clad stainless steel set that is said to be comparable to All Clad.

Now I have not fired them up but you can tell the manafacturing quality or lack of and this quality is above average. Yep they are made in China which a lot of things sadly are but it is what it is and I can remember when Made in Japan carried the same stigma.

If you need a good heavy stock pot heavy in like the pasta cooker insert probably weighs more than my old two pots with some nice extras this is a item worth considering. The store I got mine from usual price is $149 if you would like to compare. I luckily got for $69 a real steal especially considering good collnaders/strainers can run in the thirty buck range.

Man I gotta make some chili this weekend.

Just so you know, MIU France is made in CHINA and the quality of the product is what could be expected from the low quality control standards of China. The Pasta Strainer insert has a seam in the metal which is very obvious and will attract bad stuff which can't be cleaned, unless you use a dental tool or something to scrape out the groove/seam. Also, the Steamer insert handles are of different lengths, one rests against the upper rim of the insert (which is the correct location) while the other one drops down into the steamer, all the way to the bottom (into the food you're steaming). These are just the first two things that jumped out at me when I opened the product, I'm sure I could find many more quality issues if I had the time. Not at all the quality I expected for the price and the deceptive name of the manufacturer "MIU France". Don't waste your money on this low quality product.

I'll admit, I'm not the easiest customer to please but that is why I paid the high price of this product and also was fooled by the manufacturers name...it should be "MIU China" which explains the poor quality of this product.

UPDATE:

I just returned the item and realized that since I opened it (which is when I discovered the poor quality and defects) I had to pay to ship it back. Using the cheapest available service though USPS it cost me almost $22 bucks! Save yourself time and money and purchase from a well-known manufacturer that has high quality control standards.

I have been testing and looking for cookware for several years. I am tired of teflon coating and cookware that states it can not be used at high heat and keep its warranty. I bought this set and have used it for eggs, making soups, rice and frying chicken and everything else. It cleans up easily, nothing sticks at the correct cooking temp. After about a year of research talking to friends, buying "tester" pans (from Le Creuset, Lodge, Calpalon, All-Clad, etc) and talking to a few chefs, I ultimately decided to ignore all the suggestions and went ahead and bought these pans. They could supposedly go from gas to electric to induction and even in the oven, didn't need "seasoning" or complicated cleaning techniques; they could just go into the dishwasher, and the reviews were pretty good. When I received these pans in August I was a bit disappointed with them on first glance. The welding marks are easily seen, the handles for the lids look like the type to hold water in them, etc etc. I'm glad to say I was wrong.

These pans are lovely. They can be a bit tricky to clean if you don't do it immediately after cooking, but we solved that by having a kettle of water on the boil whilst cooking. Plate the food, pour the water in the pans and let them sit whilst you eat, and when you get around to rinsing them the food just lifts off even with eggs. Then just throw in the dishwasher with everything else. It's even less effort than my old non-stick pans. These do take a bit longer to heat up, but once they do, the heat is even and they are very responsive to changes, even on an electric/ceramic stove. I can't wait to see how they respond when we switch to induction. They're also convenient for storage with the way the handles for the lids slip right over the handle for the pan. Instead of having to have a separate lid rack, I can hang each pot with its lid. Lovely. They're supposed to be pans for life, and I'm really hoping they are.

All in all, I'm extremely pleased with these.

Although I don't have this newest set of Chantal cookware I thought I'd share my experience. I have had my current set of Chantal cookware for over 18 years. It cooks just as well as when I bought it. I have a large family and love to entertain. These pots and pans have gotten quite the workout over the years. Everyday use, occasional burned on food, scrubbing, high heat, low heat, banging the stirring utensils on the edge, stacking pots and pans on top of each other along with the glass lids in a drawer, kids cooking with them, ... well you get the picture. Results? Still look and cook fantastic. I will be buying a new set this year. My old set still cooks great but is beginning to look a little well loved. The enamel has held up well after all these years. No chips. There is no teflon inside, thank goodness, and wow does this set cook great! I love the durability. Pans to enjoy and last a few decades? Yep. These are the ones. Oh, and they colors look fabulous!

We just installed an induction range and between that and these pans...wow! They are non stick (if you follow the directions) and have such a beautiful finish. The color is Onyx and I really didn't want black pans but these are more of a dark charcoal with a pearlized finish..they are beautiful. Of course, beauty is one thing but how they work is the most important. They are heavy but have "helper" handles on the larger sizes which makes them easy to move. And the 4 qt. dutch oven is beautiful enough to go right to the table. They heat quickly and evenly, just as they claim. I know they are expensive but are so worth the money...I will definitely fill in as I can afford! BTW, Amazon had the best price (even better than the manufacturer!)

This cookware set is beautiful to look at. I can't tell that there is any "stick resistance" when cooking or cleaning. They still require a good soak and scrub to clean after cooking about anything. The red finish has started to chip near the base on my skillet that I am using on a regular basis. Haven't noticed any chipping on any of the other pieces. After several weeks, i probably feel like the price is a little high...probably could have found better quality for less money, but they really do look nice on my stove!!!

At the last minute before Thanksgiving 06, My Mom decided she had to have a brand new Table cloth. She ordered two from one of those junk mail catalog that arrive monthly. Those cloths came in and were the wrong sizes. She returned those cloths and I went online to hunt down a replacement. I stumbled upon the Reflections 70 Inch Round Tablecloth. We had a tough time choosing a color! We settled on the Stone Blue. We placed the order but when it came down to selecting shipping, we didn't want to pay for overnight service. We know it would not be here if we did regular shipping but we took our chances. Here's what happened, I placed the order late and the Table cloth should have been processed the next day. For some reason it was processed that same day. Amazon got this cloth to us within 3 days (not the 7 to 10 days they told us it would take). Amazon did an outstanding thing by getting this item out and shipped to us so it was in our hands so we didn't have to worry about what we were going to do about a TableCloth. Thanksgiving day were put this beautiful blue table cloth on our table for thankgiving dinner. Mom was to happy that we found suck a nice cloth that did not cost an arm and a leg. She was very happy she didn't have to spend a ton of money getting it here. Our Thanksgiving Dinner was terrific!! Nothing stained or damaged this cloth! It is easy to clean up if something does get dropped or spilled on it. We will be buying more of these but in different colors.

I bought this for my husband as he has always been a Beatles fan and the picture on the Mug is really nice. This mug was a little more expensive than some of the mugs I had seen on Amazon, but it is microwavable and dishwasher safe so paying a little extra was worth it. I received it in perfect condition and very quickly.

I have found these cups to be great for condiments & sauces. Easy to clean and sturdy. Oval shape does make decorating cookies & biscotti easy. I also used them to make dome shaped ice-cream floats for a Easter punch.
