We were using an oval pyrex roasting pan with a rectangular pyrex pan on top as a cover to roast chicken. Worked fine although the seal was questionable. And then one day it smoked out the house. We bought the Granite Ware 15 Inch Covered Oval Roaster to solve the problem. It did. Fits a 5lb chicken no problem, with plenty of room for vegetables. We have owned two other roasters like this one. One, I left at work while taking a pot luck dinner. The other, my wife used the roaster for "on top" of stove cooking....the burner was too high and the bottom of the roaster burnt, so we threw it away. We had been without a 15 inch roaster for quite awhile, then my wife seen this on Amazon. We just finished a roast made in this new roaster. This cooks evenly, and the clean up isn't difficult at all. I would recommend this roaster to anyone who is in the market for roasters. Thanks Amazon! As other reviewers had noted, there are sharp edges on this product, and the metal is not as heavy as the ones Mom & Grandma had. I also noted a few dings, probably caused by shipping, and where these were the enamel was also chipped. Still, for the cheap price, it worked good. I doubt it will last like the ones they used to sell, but is worth it for the current cost.

I unfortunately had to throw these whisks in the trash. I was whisking some pancake batter when I noticed drops of brownish water getting sprayed around the bowl. Upon further examination I saw that the water was leaking out of the handle where each of the silicone pieces is attached. I checked out the other two whisks and all three of them had water trapped inside the handles from when they had been washed. Very disappointing.

I bought these to use with my Anolon cookware. They are great. The different sizes allow me to use them with any size pot. I use them for mixing, whipping, gravies, etc. and I don't have to worry about them scratching my cookware. Would definitely recommend!

I really enjoy these whisks. They come in handy and look very nice. One has fallen apart, but I was able to put it back together. The silicone part isn't very sturdy, so sometimes it is necessary to have a more solid whisk for thicker foods.

I was unfortunate enough to get this as a warranty replacement for my old KitchenAid immersion blender and this new model is worse than the old model in almost every way I can see.

The old model had nine continuously variable speeds. This one has three speeds and the highest does not seem as powerful as "9" on the old model.

This model comes with a 3-cup mixing cup. The old one held 4 cups. The cup's top also does not fit as snugly.

On the older model, you pressed a couple of buttons to release the attachments. On this one, the blender attachment twists on and the motor does not actually attach to the chopping cup at all. Instead, it just sits on top, which means you have to be careful you don't accidentally take it out while chopping. The old model also had a separate rubber base for the chopper. The new one has just a rubber o-ring on the bottom.

I'm sure all this was done as a way to get the price down, but we don't buy KitchenAid based on price, do we? We buy based on quality. They seem to have forgotten that with this immersion blender.

Sadly, the KitchenAid website no longer lists the old model. If you can, buy one of the older models while they are still on Amazon. I'm going to give this one away and do that myself.

I like the previous reviewer, I was unfortunate enough to get this as a warranty replacement. I had the Handheld Immersion Blender KitchenAid KHB100ER1. That was a work horse and I absolutely loved it!! I got this in the mail the other day as a replacement and decided to test it before sending off my other unit. I put it in the beans to make refried beans and the thing barely moved. Not only that, but the thing popped out of the blender attachment. It barely cut through the beans at the highest speed. I was so disappointed. I had such high hopes. I contacted kitchen aid immediately. I requested that my old hand held be fixed and sent back to me. Unfortunately you can only do that at your expense. They say this is an upgrade from the old hand immersion which had a motor based upon wattage. Which means you get so many revolutions per minute based upon the speed you selected. This unit is not based upon wattage but a D.C. motor, which isn't based upon revolutions per minute based upon the speed you select, but on what you are blending. So, if you are blending a salad dressing at the highest speed it will whip right through it but if you are blending a thick soup it will slow down the motor so it takes you longer to blend it. It will do it but it sounds like its going to stop any minute. I am not sure about other people but I'd rather not have the motor decide for me if it needs to slow the revolutions per minute down for me. I spend alot of time in the kitchen as it is, I want to cut my time in the kitchen so I can enjoy doing other activities. Disappointed? Yes, absolutely. It was wonderful for Kitchen Aid to send me this upgraded but somehow cut back model as a replacement for a superior model it discontinued. If you have never owned a Kitchen Aid hand immersion blender before you might not notice. I would recommend the other model KHB100 while they are still available.

Oh yes and the quality is not as good. It seems to be more plasticy and lightweight in comparison. It has a twist and lock method of connecting the attachments instead of a click and safety release button. The 3 Speed selector is more cheaply made. Even the blade looked smaller. Had I bought this for myself, I would have taken it right back to the store and got my money back.

Kitchen Aid offered the 5 Speed of the same Unit, at a cost of $50 Plus tax and shipping. For that money, I'll go buy the original unit I had ;-).

I love pretty much all of the kitchen aid products, and this one is no exception. It is built well, and I like the extra-long shaft and extra speed on this model. I also really appreciate the bag it comes with, it is SO much better than just having the pieces lying around on the shelf.

I purchased this one over the next model down since there are a LOT of times that I really like my food processor . . . but only need a small amount. This is perfect for that, plus the booklet gives great suggestions on speeds to use. Obviously the mixing cup (which has a great lid, I use it a lot to make dips and I can store them right in the jar in the fridge) and food processor don't fit in the bag.

My only two complaints (and they are tiny ones, and not enough to take away stars) are that the top of the mixing shaft is plastic and the mixing jar is plastic. The whole mixing shaft is stainless except for the part that connects to the motor. I realize that plastic is really good, and the chrome on it is so good it is almost impossible to tell . . . but I just prefer metal. It is a personal preference more than anything. The plastic mixing cup is great and extremely high-quality, but you essentially have to just resign yourself to the fact that it will get scratched up on the inside as you use it. It doesn't change the usefulness in any way, but I would love it it was glass.

The basic design of this product is OK but is has one major flaw. The button to turn it on and off is way to hard to press and is fatiguing when using it. It has 3 speeds, lots of attachments and comes with a cool storage bag. If only the button was easier to push!

My husband and I love soups, and we had been making pureed soups by transferring small batches to our food processor. The system was always messing and lengthy, so we finally bought this immersion blender. Pureeing the entire pot of soup takes maybe a minute and a half, and there is no extra mess. The pieces clean up quickly, and the device hardly takes up any storage space. It's fun to use too. We love it.

We moved from teflon to stainless and worried that it would be hard to keep food from sticking. Definitely not a problem.

This is a high quality product!

Edit: I should have added that it is extremely important that you pre-heat stainless steel cookware before you add food to the pan. If you toss the food into a cold pan and then heat it, the food WILL stick. You must heat up the pan first.

I like to cook with Dutch Ovens. I also like to experiment with new recipes that are not necessarily designed for a Dutch Oven. I have four other Dutch Ovens: Two 12 inch, one 10 inch and a 14 inch. Over the years I have done my experimental recipes in one of the larger ovens. This is fine if everything works correctly and I have 6 to 8 people to feed, but for much smaller groups and/or bad results, I like the smaller oven.

Within a day of receiving the oven I tried a dessert recipe, but cut the amount by three quarters. Although it came out good, it still made six servings, but this was better than the 24 servings the full recipe made. My wife and I had dessert for three nights. I have now used it at least a dozen times in the past month for cooking everything from desserts, game hens, roasts and homemade spaghetti sauce. I am thinking of buying a second, and a friend (a Dutch Oven cook) is looking at acquiring one for himself.

For small groups, couples, etc, this 8 inch Dutch Oven is an excellent addition to anyone's Dutch Oven and cast iron cookware collection.

One final note: All of the cooking was done in an outside BBQ area designed for Dutch Oven cooking using charcoal.

Bought this specifically for camping. Took it out for the first time and cooked cornbread. Excellent results, nicely browned all over and no sticking whatsoever. My wife commented how surprised she was with the even browning.

A note-I did season it again once I got it as I have found the factory seasoning to be less than ideal on other preseasoned lodge fry pans and ovens.

Although I have a cast iron skillet from another manufacturer that is used primarily for cornbread, this was my first piece of Lodge cookware. I absolutely love this piece. At 28 lbs., it's a little big and heavy for frequent dishes that can be made in a smaller DO for just our family. However, until our 12" comes in, I've learned to modify the coal arrangement to use the 14" deep for breakfast casseroles, home made pizza, cobblers, chicken & dumplings, etc... The size makes it excellent for doing racks of ribs and whole chickens. I'm looking forward to winter camp cooking when it will be filled with chili and stews. Based on our experience with this one piece of cookware, we ordered a 12" for the camper and I just ordered 3 skillets for the house. I'm throwing out all of my "nonstick" skillets and replacing them with Lodge cast iron. Clean-up is a breeze. Even cheesey home-made pizza wipes out with just a paper towel. The pre-seasoning is an added bonus.

Years ago, my parents insisted that I have at least one piece of cast iron cookware. I can't believe I waited 16 years to purchase more!

This is the cutest dutch oven and so functional. My kids are all grown and it just me and grumpy, I mean hubby now :) and I don't always need a big pot. I absolutely love this little dutch oven. It works when almost anything for 2-3 people or side items like cobbler and cornbread for more people. It's packaged well and constructed well, yet a bit pricy, but you can't find this size just anywhere. I say buy it. I'm happy I did.

There is an ongoing and eternal debate among dutch oven users as to what is the best brand available. For years I have held that Lodge was the best but the difference in quality wasn't worth the difference in price. Of course at that time I didn't even own a Lodge. Well I heard about this one an sale and had been wanting a 14" deep so I ordered it (the free shipping didn't hurt, either). It arrived within two weeks, was already seasoned from the factory (seasoning is a pain, but very necessary), and when I started using it I found out why so many people will only buy Lodge ovens. It really DOES cook better! I highly recomend this oven for anyone who needs a large D.O.

It seems like a design flaw but the water will boil out of the pot between the walls of the pot and this colander. You can't boil items with this in the pot without making a large mess. The best way to use it is pour items into the colander to drain after you are done cooking them.

This is by far the best cookware available. My advice, READ the manual before using if you are not familiar with the way cast iron cooks. I made the mistake of turning my burners to high heat when they function on low to medium! You will burn your food and ruin your pan if you use the high heat! Other than that (which is entirely my fault for not reading) this is so nice to have in my collection. This set is perfect to round off a cookware set.

I bought the Dune set on a lightning deal. The 5.5 qt oven had a pitting problem. Two deep pits on the bottom interior surface and many minor pits on the outside. It would be a second in the Le Creuset outlet. I contacted Amazon and they were great and sent out a replacement set, not only the oven. The second set had one pit mark on the interior side of the 5.5 qt so I keept it and sent the rest of the second set back with the first pitted 5.5 qt oven. It was a pain since the box weighs 40 pounds. Amazon did well by me but Le Creuset needs better quality control.

P.S. I lost out on the bonus since I had to order lightning fast to get the deal, so be prepared if you are tracking this set for a deal.

Had this saved in my cart for about a year, and it finally hit a price point that was too good to pass up. A great complement to the 5-piece set I had purchased last year. I have not seen any pitting. Each piece will get a workout in my kitchen. A great set for those who are looking to upgrade their cookware. Satin Dune might not be the most exciting color, but it will blend in with most "standard" kitchen decor. I'm not big on everything being perfectly color matched (I have Le Creuset items in about 3 different colors now), but I know it is a consideration for some. I have had a set of these pots and pans for over 30 years and love them. My son just got engaged and wanted a set of these for their new home. This is a great price, you can't beat it and a very useful set for a start. He and his fiancee were so happy to get these. I just had this pot rack installed and it looks great in my small kitchen. It's sturdy and functional. The finish is matte black with chrome grid, hooks and mounting hardware (all the hardware needed is included... even the ceiling hooks which are not included with some racks). The description here at amazon doesn't say how much weight it can hold. It's made by Rogar and you can get extra hooks at their website. For the price this one can't be beat... I even got it with free shipping from Target. I recommend it to anyone with limited cabinet space.

This pot rack was a perfect fit for a rather small kitchen. It is solidly built at a fairly reasonable price, especially compared to other pot racks. The simplicity of design was just what I was looking for; not only are other potracks sometimes excessively decked out in wrought iron, copper, etc., but this seems to be one of the few rectangular pot racks out there (or that I could find). The chains may be a bit short for taller ceilings (brownstones, for instance). A trip to the hardware store could easily fix that, though. My ceilings are about 9 feet high, and I can comfortably maneuver pots on and off.

The only thing you have to be prepared for is the installation. The rack itself, not to mention the pots it will carry, is quite heavy, and as such must be anchored into wooden structural members in the ceiling. If you have a drop-ceiling, you can't just use heavy-duty wall anchors; the rack is likely to rip down your ceiling. If your ceiling is concrete, you may just have to substitute some of your own hardware to allow you to anchor hooks into the concrete. This would be adventurous, but not impossible. A drop-ceiling, however, is probably out of the question.

This is a nice addition to my apartment. I only hope future apartments I live in will have the right structure to put it up.

Luckily for me, the previous owner of the house had a pot rack, so the hook was already in place for immediate placement of the rack to hang from the ceiling. Since I have a high kitchen ceiling, I got some additional chainlink so it would hang down low enough, and voila, it was up and holding 8 pans/pots. I only needed the 8 hooks that go along the perimeter, but they include some additional S-hooks which I haven't used. I have no complaints it does what it's supposed to do.

I am so glad I purchased this hanging rack. Installing it was a breeze and the look and feel to my kitchen now is very homely.

Word of advice, buy a good stud finder. I had the cheapest zircon model and was getting very frustrated. Your ceiling can be made of different materials then your walls. Plus, ceilings have a lot of wiring and insulation. The zircon was giving me false readings and was constantly becoming uncalibrated. I opted for the Stanley stud finder which was only a couple bucks more and made all the difference.

This Flan Panis wonderful! It does not stick. I lived in Germany for three years and bought one of these pans before I left. That was 30 years ago. However, my old one was all banged up and rusty. So I searched to find a new one and this was exactly the size and the type I wanted. I had no idea what the name of the pan was. I just searched for German cake pan. I am now making German cakes again in strawberry season.

This tart pan is perfect! Within days I received it, I made a apple tart with great results. I did spray the bottom and sides lightly with oil,which maybe i didn't need to. Wanted some of the smaller ovenproof ceramic leftovers containers to throw directly (minus the cover) into microwave after refrigerator storage instead of the Tupperware or Ziplok plastics because these latter don't hold up well to oils in foods and become either mishapened or stained, even with 'lowest power' heating cycles, over time. We've had ORIGINAL Corning French White items for over 30 years and these have stood the test of time. These aren't those. This 'Corning' is actually just the purchased/leased trademark that World Kitchens is using (also Sunbeam, etc, I believe) to ride on the coattails of the original Corning Glass Works quality reputation. These have the rubber/plastic covers, too, but they are NOT sized properly to fit 'airtight' for effective containment. They are off measure by about 1/8th inch in the diameter too big. This is also the same problem with their 7pc set which I also purchased for someone else. One (the larger) of the two rubber/plastic covers for the two different sized casseroles was defective in this regard. See that review, too. Not worth the money, unless you don't care about using the covers. We're looking into Pyrex products for better satisfaction for our needs. Maybe Amazon should drop this company's products to avoid disappointing its customers?

I am pleased with my purchase. I use them for baking an egg casserole ahead of time and then take to work to reheat in the microwave. They are perfect for this. I rated it four stars as one was slightly chipped on the underside of the lip. This was not caused from shipping as they were packaged very well. I did not return it as it wasn't worth the hassle, and I might chip it myself through constant use.

The lids stay on, but are not tight, so liquid would spill out if a cup tipped over. Plastic wrap would be a better protection to keep the contents from drying out. The prices here seems to fluctuate.

Oh, I can't tell you how happy I am to have this well-made honing steel--it feels so good that I don't even have to force myself to go five strokes on both sides of the blade before I start chopping (as Dinosaur Jr. would have it). This is a very nice and solid piece of equipment, it looks pretty good, and it does what it's supposed to do very well.

Now, for those who say "it's not a sharpening tool!"--you're right. Then again, since I got this thing, and have started using it very regularly, I have not had to sharpen any of my knives, and yes, even blades that seemed all too dull were not beyond salvation. I cannot tell (though I know the definitions) were honing stops and sharpening starts, but I have the feeling that if your knives aren't in too bad a shape they might well benefit from a serious application of the steel. Don't offend the purists and call that 'sharpening'--but as long as your knives cut better as a result, who cares what the purists call it?

One final thing: as with many tools, size counts: 12 inches seems, to me, to be some sort of a minimum length for a honer--this one is long enough, and I certainly wouldn't consider a 10-inch steel.

You'll need one of these bad boys if you want to keep your knives in any sort of sharp condition.

I hone my knives on this steel a couple times before using my knives, and a couple times after using, to maintain a sharp edge. Periodically, every 6 months or so, I break out my Chef's Choice Diamond Sharpener to really sharpen my knives.

I have Wusthof Classic and Henckels Pro-S knives, which work fine with this steel. There may be other knives which have a hardness rating higher than that of this steel. This steel has a hardness rating of 66, so keep that in mind when you purchase your knives. And, Japanese knives must be sharpened at a different angle than German knivesI think it's ~10 degrees vs. 22.5 for ze Germans.

Most of us know the importance of sharp knives for proper food preparation and gracious serving. Of course, I had to learn the hard way by mashing a tomato instead of chopping it, by "sawing" a roast rather than slicing it, and by cutting and pulling off a plump roast turkey leg rather than carving it. After trying both a stone and steel, the steel is my favorite for ease of use and appearance. This steel is not only utilitarian but handsome with a ribbed handle that's easy to hold and silvertone handle guard and hanging ring. First off, a good way to test whether or not your knives are sharp is to hold a piece of paper by the top corner and then attempt to "slice" it. If knives won't do this head for the steel! You'll be amazed sometimes it takes only a few strokes on the steel to make your knife sharp, sharper, then sharpest.

Remember to place the metal end of the steel on a sturdy surface, such as a butcher block table or cutting board then position the base of the blade on the steel and begin. This Henckels sharpening steel is certainly a cut above any other. Gail Cooke

This 12" steel performs its job admirably, providing a nice long surface to stroke a blade across and developing a distinctive ring characteristic when the blade is struck across correctly.

I've been maintaining my blades for about six months with it and have had no need to pursue any further sharpening as of yet.

This pot came with my set and I really had my doubts as to how it would work out. Well, it is fanatastic. Cooking spaghetti, lasagna, crabs legs a pure pleasure, everything fits perfectly. I make my soups in it and no matter what I cook NOTHING sticks. I recently made a sweet and sour brisket surrounded by stuffed cabbage and everything came out perfectly. To my surprise I didn't have to use 2 pots to cook everything. I truly don't know why people are having trouble but I've found that you have to use a much lower heat setting as the pot conducts the heat quickly.

I ordered a spaghetti pot like this from QVC in early January. Thinking ahead (for once) to get a nice Valentine's gift for my wife. The QVC ad said it might take several weeks for the order to be shipped. After three weeks and with no delivery, I started to worry about QVC not delivering the item. I contacted QVC and they said there was a problem with my credit card and they cancelled the order without contacting me. At that time it was too late to order one somewhere else, so our Valentine Day was ruined. The product seems good, in fact, I bought an entire set, without the spaghetti pot from someone else after Valentine's Day in an attempt to make up for the ruined day.
