This is a really cool concept, poorly executed. The clear sleeve slides up and down on an aluminum cylinder. The top of the cylinder is a rubber gasket that seals the sleeve, thus preventing leakage between the sleeve and the cylinder. All of that works fine.

The problem is that at the bottom of the aluminum cylinder is a plastic ring of a larger diameter than the cylinder. This ring stops the sleeve from sliding below the top of the cylinder, and also acts as a foot so you can stand the measuring cup. Unfortunately, the ring is made from a fairly hard plastic, which can become brittle and crack. But it doesn't break away cleanly so you're left with a measuring cup that won't stand up straight. That might be fine if you're measuring things and dumping them straight into a bowl, but if you have to sit the thing down while it's full, forget it.

I received this set as a wedding gift two years ago and all three pieces work well. I especially like the spoons they save so much space by having multiple measurements in one spoon (as opposed to a separate spoon for each measurement). They are easy to clean and easy to use. The cup is good for peanut butter and shortening, but I don't use it for liquids. I really like my adjust-a-measure set and would recommend it to friends and family.

The sliding measuring spoons were very difficult to slide even for someone not having arthritis making this item not very user friendly. The big measurer did not easily expunge the food I was measuring and with having to grease the plunger to make it move easily added to prep and clean-up time. Liquids tended to leak. I think I am better off with a regular set of measuring cups and spoons.

If you have already purchased the noritake colorwave dish sets, then this sugar bowl is a great investment. The only downfall is not having a place for the sugar bowl spoon. Received this as a gift. Was very disappointed with the very poor workmanship. You can tell the materials are the cheapest available; not a nice, thick apron as I was expecting. The strand going around the neck and through the sides is very cheap, too. I could probably at least forgive some of its quality if it wasn't for the fact that you can't hang the apron up. When you attempt to hang it up, hung from the neck, the white strand falls straight through the sides. Unfortunately I can't return this item, otherwise I'd do so in a heartbeat.

There is only one slight thing that I would do to improve it. The sash that is used to go around your neck and the one that goes around your waist are the same one. So if you are looking at the apron, the sash goes from under your arm, through the top of the arm and then down the same path on the other side thus the loop at the top becomes the part that goes over your head which is OK but you can't hang it up by the neck piece without it coming through and out of the apron. I know this sound confusing but it is the only way I can describe it. It makes sense to me.

I was very hesitant to spend close to $160 on a single fry pan, but I had heard so many good things about All-Clad and thought it would be a wise investment. For the first 6 months, the pan was great. I loved the large size and used it often. I was just about ready to invest in an entire set of All-Clad cookware when my pan warped. I was using it on an electric stove as usual, and the pan just simply warped. I was thoroughly disappointed that a $160 pan would warp during normal use. I won't be spending this kind of money again.

****Follow-up. I contacted All-Clad regarding the warped pan-they had me send it in for evaluation, and yesterday a brand new one showed up at my door. I'm impressed at their customer service and the fact that they stand behind their product.

I got this pan a month ago, mainly to round out my collection (wow, it looks great hanging on my rack!) To be honest, I was a bit worried about how much use I'd actually get out of it.

How wrong I was! It's absolutely spectacular for recipies that require large amounts of sauted vegatables. I love being able to saute several large onions, peppers, etc. at the same time.

Where it really shines is searing meat in prepartion for roasting. I love to roast, particularly pork and lamb. Only a pan like this lets you sear an entire pork tenderloin without any acrobatics.

It's definitely not for everyone, but I really enjoy using it.

Yes, it's a REALLY big pan! A perfect cookware addition for the serious cook. Surprisingly, the pan isn't as heavy as I expected and is a manageable size. It will easily saute 6 to 8 chicken breasts at once without crowding and is perfect for large batches. It heats evenly and lives up to the All-Clad quality I expected. Easy cleanup, too! Highly recommended.

This pan is very thin along the bottom. It warped the second time I used it on my flat electric stove. It might be more useful on another type of stove, but this pan is definitely not for electric stoves.

This is a good double boiler but nothing great. I was expecting a bit more, but for the price and free shipping I guess I can't complain. I don't know if they are all like this but my top pot tends to slip around a bit on the bottom one. The grove isn't deep enough to hold it fast enough or something. Also, it would have been nice if they had designed the handles where they were close enough together to grasp with one had at the same time, but it's still ok. I know I sound like a general complainer, but I'm usually about 150% satisifed with everything I buy from Amazon and this one is only about 95% so, I'm happy but not estatic. Hope I haven't made your seach worse :)

I originally got this, because another reviewer commented that the upper section was perforated, more like a steamer (I wanted to make Christmas pudding) than a double boiler. I had also seen the product displayed on various sites and it appeard that this was true. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found it wasn't perforated. Still, as a double boiler, it works fine. The metal is a bit ligher in gauge than I'd like, but unless you are intenionally trying to damage it, it should stand up to normal use.

This pot came with my set and I really had my doubts as to how it would work out. Well, it is fanatastic. Cooking spaghetti, lasagna, crabs legs a pure pleasure, everything fits perfectly. I make my soups in it and no matter what I cook NOTHING sticks. I recently made a sweet and sour brisket surrounded by stuffed cabbage and everything came out perfectly. To my surprise I didn't have to use 2 pots to cook everything. I truly don't know why people are having trouble but I've found that you have to use a much lower heat setting as the pot conducts the heat quickly.

I ordered a spaghetti pot like this from QVC in early January. Thinking ahead (for once) to get a nice Valentine's gift for my wife. The QVC ad said it might take several weeks for the order to be shipped. After three weeks and with no delivery, I started to worry about QVC not delivering the item. I contacted QVC and they said there was a problem with my credit card and they cancelled the order without contacting me. At that time it was too late to order one somewhere else, so our Valentine Day was ruined. The product seems good, in fact, I bought an entire set, without the spaghetti pot from someone else after Valentine's Day in an attempt to make up for the ruined day.

I just used this pan for the first time and the handle fell off. I tried to reconnect it and the handle was stripped so the screw would not go back in. The pan is a good size but this is ridiculous. I am very disappointed.

This pan is awesome! It's size is very impressive and the manufacturing quality is also outstanding! I've been using it for preparing a Japanese dish called "Sukiyaki" on a portable gas stove. It feels very firm on the stove, which was great, since the Sukiyaki is prepared on the dining table and everyone is allowed to stir it. Since the pan has a high-grip texture in its bottom, it really felt as if it was bonded to the stove, which was great since we felt very confident that no accident would possibly happen.

Also, we were not able to detect any kind of issue regarding its bottom (some reviews state that this pan has something like a convex bottom, which would prevent it from seating firmly on the stove).

I would definitely recommend this product!

Last year (2008) our little planting of grapes finally started producing. We borrowed a steam juicer and were able to can about 42 quarts of grape juice (along with eating a bunch and selling some). The juicer was so nice that we decided to purchase our own. This Norpro Juicer Steamer has many of the features we were looking for. Stainless steel. Good capacity. We also liked this unit because of the glass lid which allows you to know how the process is going without opening it up (one thing we didn't like with the steamer we borrowed last year). I also noticed that the handles are designed to remain cooler than the other unit another good feature of this steamer.

I was already familiar with juicer-steamers when I went looking for my own. This one is easy to clean and care for being stainless. The larger pan at the bottom means less chance of cooking off all the water. The glass lid makes it easy to check your progress on the fruit. The only downside is that the hose connection is mounted higher on this juicer than other models. It will retain a little more than a quart of juice below the hose which just means that you have tip it to get all the juice out after each batch. Not a big deal, but the first time you use it you think you aren't getting very much juice. I rate it a 4 only due to the hose positioning. Great product.

I was a bit skepitcal about the Norpro s/s steamer juicer and its price but read through the reviews and found them so favorable, I decided to give it a try. Specifically, I was looking for an easier method to extract juice from fruits and veggies for wine making, and I can say without a doubt, it's the best! It is heavy-duty; the top part held 4 gallon bags of currants and the bottom held 8 quarts of water. You do need to watch the pot so it doesn't dry out, but I had all the juice before I ran out of water. It's easy to clean and the glass lid allows you to look at the fruit as it's releasing its juices without lifting the lid. It was a bit pricey but excellent quality; it was worth every penny! And such a time saver. Thanks!

This unit looks bullet proof in the photos but it is not. The handles are welded on not riveted and the pieces do not fit together well to the point that the whole unit is unstable. Don't waste your time. When dealing with scalding hot liquids stability is a must. Very dangerous.

I appreciate that the 18/10 stainless steel they use seems quite thick. I appreciate that the handles are spot welded 10 times (instead of the typical 4 on competing models), although I would have preferred rivets. I was willing to put up with a glass lid, although in my experience they are pretty much useless: you can't see a thing once they start steaming up, and they eventually fall on the floor and break, leaving you with nothing. But for me the deal-breaker was the way the steam container fits into the water pan.

There is a concave channel formed around the perimeter of the water pan about an inch below the top that the steam container is supposed to rest on. But instead of a nice flat 90 degree ledge, the channel forms a nearly imperceptible bump that doesn't stick out from the inside wall more than 1/16 of an inch. As a result, there is no solid place for the steam container to rest. You place it in and it tilts to one side. You try to straighten it, and it tilts to the other side. I'm guessing the poor fit also allows steam to escape, although I didn't try it steaming anything -I packed it up for return immediately.

There is no reason to put up with bad design like this. Chinese factories can produce decent quality cookware if the quality control is in place (the Sur La Table brand multi-ply cookware, for example). In this case, unfortunately, Norpro quality control seems to be non-existent.

I bought this as an omelet pan for my husband who loves to cook us breakfast on Saturday mornings. It heats evenly, the edges are turned up just enough to allow easy flipping of the eggs. The size is great for a 2 egg omelet, and it cleans up very nicely too. My husband does not get very excited over kitchen accessories, but he is very proud and very particular about his "omelet pan". I make vegan crepes which are much more prone to sticking then their eggy counterparts and this pan is a miracle (as long as you season it correctly and take care of it) plus it's a great price.

You get exactly what is advertised, an 8.625" crepe pan.

I ordered two Paderno crepe pans. One from this page and a second listed as 8 5/8" instead of 8.625". The size should have been identical! The 8 5/8" pan cost a lot more, so I wondered if there might be a difference in quality. Both crepe pans appeared to have the same specs from the same company. Perhaps the more expensive one is made in Italy and this cheaper one in China?

The 8.625" pan arrived and is exactly as described. The actual cooking surface is only about 6.75 inches in diameter. The pan is much thinner, lighter weight than the Paderno 9.5 inch Frying pan I recieved. (The frying pan was labeled as being made in China.) The lighter weight of this crepe pan may be appealing for some cooking applications. I will probably use a lower heat setting when using the thinner, lighter weight pan. The crepe pan is a nice weight and not cheap or flimsey.

The higher priced 8 5/8" pan was mislabeled. I received a 7" in diameter pan. It appeared to be the same quality as the 8.625" pan. Except for size, it appeared to be identical in materials and workmanship. Since the 8 5/8 inch pan I received was mislabeled by the Paderno company, I do not know how a correctly labeled 8 5/8 inch pan would rate in a side by side comparison to the 8.625 inch pan. Maybe the pans are identical, maybe not?

NEITHER crepe pan was labeled with a Country of Origin. I thought this was mandatory under US law.

I ordered the Paderno 9.5" carbon steel frying pan at the same time. The Country of Origin is CHINA!!!!! I thought I was purchasing Italian cookware, so I am not a happy camper. The front of the label states: Paderno, an Italian manufacturing company serving professional chefs since 1925. But, on the back of the label, by the UPC, it clearly states: Made in China.

I suspect that even though the two Paderno World Cuisine crepe pans I purchased are not labeled, they were also made in CHINA.

Grrrrr....

Cheap Calphalon One Nonstick 4-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Glass Lid

I bought this sauce pan last week. The quality is very good. The handle design is quite comfortable. I tested the even heat distribution by broiling the water and watched the water bubbles forming at the bottom of the pan. I found no hot spot. It responded to the change in the heat setting is average. It's kind of heavier than All-Clad LTD for the same size of pan. I'm not sure about how long it will last under the normal daily usage yet. For the initial impression, this Calphalon One Non-stick cookware can stand up to the more expensive cookware such as All-Clad LTD, Stainless steel, MC2. Look for the bargain. It's worth the cost.

Reviews of Woll Diamond Plus Cookware Set, 10-Piece

I have been researching nonstick cookware for months. I knew I'd found what I wanted when I discovered this Woll brand/model. This set is phenomenal in every way. I have cooked a variety of meals, including stove to oven recipes involving searing of meat followed by braising, eggs, soups, pastas, etc. I love to cook but have used name brand (RevereWare) but fairly basic cookware for 30 years. I had no idea what a difference this cookware could make in my results. Omelets have a gorgeous golden brown surface and slide in the pan. Scallops develop the beautiful caramelization and look like they came from a fine dining establishment. I just use a very small amount of oil or butter in the pan for eggs or foods I'd like to nicely brown. Water/broths/stocks seem to reach a boil much more quickly. The manufacturer had stated that lower heat settings can be used due to the superior distribution of heat, and I am certainly confirming that to be true. I am using silicone utensils as recommended, but any utensil can be used. The nonstick coating is the same on the outside as the inside. The handles are attached very securely with a patented process that avoids use of fasteners placed inside the pan, making cleaning simple. And cleaning could not be simpler with zero scrubbing needed for anything I have cooked in these. I use warm water, dish detergent, and a sponge to quickly wash and then rinse. This quality made, nicely weighted cookware is the best thing that has happened to my cooking (as well as my clean-up afterward). Not only does food look better, it cooks more evenly and better, sealing in flavors for a gourmet experience. I highly recommend Woll Diamond Plus cookware, with enthusiasm and no reservations.

Okay so these are very expensive. I decided I just didn't care this time. I heard about all the bad stuff with the Teflon and yada yada and these seemed to having nothing that could harm my health. I am still blown away by these and I've had them for three months and have used them a whole lot and these still look like new. They are sooo easy to cook with. Nothing sticks. And they are sooo easy to clean up. Usually I just put a couple drops of soap and then spray them for a few seconds with hot water using the sink hose at the setting that sprays the hardest and quickly rinse and done. I am extremely happy and am now looking forward to buy some more Woll products.

I have been in the market for a new set of nonstick pots/pans forever, but I was so discouraged after reading reviews of most of them, that I held off on buying for years, and just got by with my cheapo peeling teflon coated ones (terrible I know!). While doing some Christmas shopping in an upscale kitchen store, I came across these pans and was instantly intrigued as I had researched the Swiss Diamond brand A LOT, and I was told these actually were the original diamond pans, and I was further intrigued with the fact that they are hand cast, grinded, etc, and made in Germany. I cook a lot, and I was looking for a high quality set that a.) didn't have exposed rivets, b.) was heavy duty, but not so heavy like cast iron that you can't hardly pick them up, and c.) was nonstick. This set exceeded my expectations by far they are such great quality, you can tell the moment you pick them up. My personal favorite highlights of this set are that small saucepan has pour spouts on both sides, the lids fit all the pots and pans, and the overall sizes of the pots/pans are great. The large pot is almost double the size of my cheapo set it replaces, and the large frying pan can almost double as a wok it's nice and deep.

I can't rave about these pots/pans enough although I've had them a short time, so hopefully they will live up to their expectations. I will be back to update if not!

For $50 less, it seemed like a great deal....provided they were as advertised. I own, and cook with many Woll pieces and they are AMAZING!! However, not once, but twice I was sent the same defective set which was NOT like new. Had it been a small scuff or something of that nature, it would have been fine. But, one of the fry pans had a golf ball size dent and the other had huge gouges in the interior down to the metal! It shouldn't have gone out the first time...but twice?!?!?!
