Ok, so like almost everyone who is reading this review...my first thought was "Why am I going to pay THAT kind of money for a hyped up blender!" I can sum it up in two words...snowball fight!

Seriously though, I took the plunge and am not upset that I did. This makes a great addition to any party, whether it's a couple of friends, or a crowd. And nobody's walking around chewing on ice chips from their blender drinks! My kids love the shaved ice to play with, and it makes great snowcones/slushies.

Setup is easy, cleanup is easy (seriously), the only problem that I have found so far is creating the right recipes for the drinks. It comes with some standards...but I like to play!

Originally, my wife wanted to get a professional maker, but we found they were thousands of dollars. After buying the DM3000, we could care less about the profession model anymore...this one makes 3 different drinks in a cycle, is fun to watch, and easier to maintain! It is quick and effortless, especially if you pre-mix your drink ingredients and have them on standby.

In my opinion, if you have the extra money to spare, and you like to have friends over or have kids, this is a great product!

The unit works as advertised but the fit and finish is not what the marketing leads you to believe. The entire unit is plastic including the jars. I sent an email to the manufacturer voicing my disappointment and they said they can't control the descrptions placed on third party web sites. Well, the description is the same on their web site. For the price, I was expecting this unit to be built like my Kitchen-aid mixer, but it's not... it's cheap.

That being said, I decided to keep it because it does make three different frozen drinks all at once and it is fun to watch. It is a great conversation piece, just don't mention what you paid for it or your guests will think you lost your marbles paying that amount for a hunk of plastic.

I'm giving the unit three stars. I subtracted one for the build quality and one for manufactures customer service.

UPDATE 12/2/2010: I figured since I was critical in my review I should update this since I've had it for some time and used it for multiple parties. My major complaint was the fact the unit was all plastic other than the knobs, switches and blades. Well, I must say that it has held up very well. It's super easy to clean and there have been a couple times I was glad the jars were plastic instead of glass or else the party would have ended. I've had tipsy buddies spill drinks everywhere on this unit and it always cleans up and looks great. Guests love watching as drinks are being made and I'm now glad I made the decision to keep it.

IT DESERVES A HUNDRED STARS!!! When I first saw this, I didn't know that it automatically deposits the ice in each picher. I saw a video of this being demo'd and I was mezmorized. My wife wanted one of these for Christmas and it was the coolest thing I ever bought. The ice is amazing and I can't look away from it when it's running. This is my second Chantal product. I've used their large fry pan for 3-4 years. It looks brand new. Sticking is not a problem. I deglaze with water and sometimes add soda before washing. Not a scratch on it.That is why I bought the second piece. Love it too.

I love to bake but lack the artistic ability to decorate fancy cakes. Nordic Ware comes to my rescue with fabulous bundt pans that turn tasty cakes into centerpieces. The star pan is perfect for Christmas (I make chocolate peppermint cakes), July 4 (just put two red, white and blueberry cakes in the freezer), or any time you want to make someone feel like a star. As long as I spray the pan thoroughly to grease it (Baker's Joy is the best), and let the cake cool in the pan for fifteen minutes after baking, everything works perfectly; and the pan is so easy to clean. And it's hard not to love a cake that shines best with just a dusting of powdered sugar! Nothing could be easier, but people react as though I cut the star shape by hand.

This beverage dispenser was used for a Christmas Party which we hosted this year at my house. The shipment was prompt and all contents were in good shape upon arrival. After a good wash, I put it to use.

The dispenser tap was installed and was just hand-tightened. I ensured there were no leaks. Through its usage, not a single drop leaked, either from the tap or where the tap was installed. The provided washer kept things tight.

In searching for a drink dispenser, I needed something that wouldn't take up too much room on the kitchen counter. For that reason, I chose this slim model.

There are all sorts of drink dispensers out there that range from $20 $200, the single most important thing for me was the dispensing of the liquid.

Majority of these types of products, if you look carefully, the dispensing tap is about two to three inches above the base, which means if the liquid reaches below the dispenser's tap, you'd have to tilt the dispenser which I'm sure all of us have done that at one point or another at the restaurants, birthday parties, or family gatherings.

This was a HUGE concern for me since there are kids who would be trying to get a full glass of drink and would have the potential need to tilt the dispenser to get a full glass as the contents reached towards the bottom.

Well, this product is ingeniously designed where 99% of the liquid can be dispensed as it sits on its base, without any tilting. If you look at the picture of this product, the dispensing tap is at the very bottom of the liquid/drink line. In reading the description on the mfg's website, I recall reading something about using all the liquid as well.

During the upcoming spring and summer, we plan on using this frequently as we'll be entertaining more outdoors, in our backyard. I recommend this product and gave it 5 stars for what it does and its design and construction.

These are very large... they are slimline, as advertised and are much longer than I expected, as a result... that was fine with me! They are sleek looking, very functional. I am still amazed at what great value they are! I like this as a light-weight alternative to my existing pans, it's cheaper too. But the coating doesn't look as good as the other alternative pan I've tried from SilverStone2. Well, it's cheap enough that once I see anything bad like potential peeling off on the coating I can just throw it away. I don't like to bake, but a few times a year, when I feel the romance meter in my marriage is dropping, I pull out all the stops and open a cake mix from the grocery store. I simply add the proper ingredients and bake up a "love cake". My wife is a very romantic person, so the shape or taste of the cake doesn't matter, so she says. "It's just the thought!", she squeals. (Lucky for Me). But, when I saw these cake stencils, I thought my troubles were over. Now, I could jazz up my pathetic gift by sprinkling sugar or cocoa over the cake through the stencil. That is,if I could get them out of the box without shredding! Popping the stencils out by hand was a total failure and after 4 hours in my garage "shop", using any specialized tools I could get my hands on, the project, as well as the designs were scrapped. The plastic is cheap and the stencils are immpossible to open without tearing. As far as reuse, not with the blood drops still remaining from the paper cuts I received during the "easy preparation". The designs are amateurish and this is one time my wife's love of childish crafts would lose out to her question of, "You didn't pay for these did you"? I'll still give her my silly little gifts of love, but at least I won't have to apologize for someone else's artwork, artwork I paid [money] for! I bought these stencils recently and loved them. So ok, they are plastic and maybe a little hard to break away but their stencils. They definitely get the job done and allow you to create a decorative flair in no time. I use powder sugar or color sprinkles to top off my desserts.

Like almost everyone who buys this kind of implement, I have many examples of quality cutlery including Wusthof, Henckels, Shun, and Kyocera as well as assorted Chinese and German examples. As this was a birthday present for myself, I wanted something really special. I was first attracted to the Ken Onion Santoku and then to the Shun Premier 8 inch chef's knife. The Ken Onion design is obviously beautiful, but I found its balance awkward and its handle surprisingly small and uncomfortable. It came down to the Premier Chef's Knife and the Premier Santoku. It was a very close call, but I found the santoku to have a slightly better balance. The hammered finish on top of the blade is not just attractive, it effectively releases thin slices from the side of the blade as you work. The handle is also very distinctive and beautiful, slightly bulkier and more contoured than the Classic Shun and providing excellent comfort and control.

In my judgment, the Premier Shun santoku is just about a perfect chef's knife. Is beautifully made for practical use. As a bonus it is simply beautiful to look at. I have plans already to buy a slicing knife in the Premier line.

The Shun Premier Santoku Knife is a great knife. It is well built and very high in quality. I bought it to thinly slice items like onions--and it works well. I can make near paper thin slices that fall right off the knife. It is exceptionally sharp, which for me is great. My wife, however, nearly cut the end of her finger off because she didn't give this knife the proper respect. So, like all great knives, you need to be careful.

BOTTOM LINE

This knife is made with the similar technique as traditional samurai swords. After months of moderate use on the toughest items, my Shun Premier Santoku hasn't dulled, chipped, scratched, or otherwise marred its initial perfect finish. I know what I want daily in the kitchen and by my side in the Zombie apocalypse. However, consider looking for a better price elsewhere.

SHARPNESS AND STRENGTH

I use my Shun Santoku to debone poultry, and it cuts through skin, muscle, and ligaments with ease. I also use it on harder to cut things, such as pineapple, which I would normally use a serrated knife for. Cutting through the outside of a pineapple is like cutting through wood, and this does it with only gentle application of force no sawing required. After months of use on only the touch stuff (I use different knives for pairing, etc), this knife still hasn't dulled noticeably.

BEAUTY

This knife is a thing of beauty it has a beautiful wooden finish on the handle, and the knife has this pretty blotted ink look, referred to in the description as Damascus. I love to show off my $160 knife to all of my friends.

PRICE

Surprisingly, the price on Amazon is not the best price I've seen for the blade. You may want to check your local high-end home-goods or kitchen-goods store like Crate and Barrel. I received mine as a gift, so I don't know where my sister bought it, but I've seen it for as low as $160 or possibly even $150. Still, I would consider ordering from Amazon, simply because shipping to my door is so convenient.

SHARPENING

Shun allows you to sharpen their knives easily by sending it into a discounted, professional service center for professional sharpening and restoration. The price is cheap (25% off of $3 per inch of sharpening). Just google "Shun Sharpening."

I won't risk sharpening my knife at home because I don't know how to properly use a whetstone. I have a Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Sharp Duo Knife Sharpener for use on my cheaper knives, but the instructions on the Shun recommend you don't use that kind of sharpener, since this knife is sharpened to a different degree than European knives.

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

I'm so impressed with my knife's ability to cut through poultry, ligaments and all, that I'm already planning on how to adapt my knife for the zombie apocalypse. Considering this thing is made like a samurai sword, I'm confident I'll be more well-equipped than my regular knife wielding buddies when we're out of bullets and the zombies are inevitably bearing down upon us.

First off, let me start by giving a little background on myself. I am a chef by hobby and a tech guy by trade. I did extensive research into German or Japanese knives and I am very glad I went Japanese! This knife is AMAZING! It is extremely sharp, right out of the package. For the 4th of July I made my first gumbo which took A LOT of slicing and chopping. This knife glided through everything I threw at it. I am in love. This knife will be an heirloom I will pass on to my children.

I also highly suggest getting the Shun honing stone because it has a guide that helps with honing it. The Shun knives are angled at a 16 degree edge where most other knives are at a 22.

After reviewing a few different youtube unboxings I figured out why this item is on sale for 99. All videos on youtube show the knife arriving in either a bamboo or cardboard box with felt or foam lining. To save money the company is selling the knives cheaper using a simple cardboard box and placing a plastic sleeve over the blade. The sleeve will scratch your blade if you do not remove it carefully or if you insert the knife back into the sleeve. The sleeve is extremely tight and abrasive against the knifes fine shiny finish. If you are getting as a gift do not take it out and gaze at its beauty and place it back in the sleeve. Once the sleeve is off get rid of it. As for the knifes review read other users posts as for they are correct. This knife is beautiful and performs amazingly. I posted a photo on the knife and sleeve that came in the box.

First of all this is called a lasagna roaster and to me that means 9x13. This isn't 9x13 and I most likely won't be using it for lasagna. However, it is a beauty! The most delicate shade of pale pink you can imagine, with a good weight to it. This roaster comes packaged beautifully in a box that I will keep for a long time. It's almost like getting a free gift (the box is so nice!) I love collecting pink items for my kitchen and sometimes they are hard to find. I'd recommend this to any "pink" fan.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)This "luxury" damask runner is a lightweight, single-ply, polyester runner with gold tassels at each angled end. The background is ivory, with a two-tone gold/beige floral pattern. Unfortunately, because the material is both slippery and thin, it can easily slip from its position unless something on top holds it in place. It does look nice, however, and it serves its purpose. I just wish it were heavier, either because of another layer of fabric on the back or a better material. Still, I got what I paid for.

I recently bought a Swiss Diamond Saute Pan on the basis of a limited lifetime warranty and this claim in the product description:

"Swiss Diamond cookware features a revolutionary new non-stick incorporating diamond crystals ... to form a virtually indestructible non-stick cooking surface that will not crack, blister or peel. So durable its metal utensil safe."

After my experience using this pan I take issue with the terms "virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe" and feel that I have been deceived.

I've followed Swiss Diamond use and care instructions *to the letter* but not long after I started using the pan the surface became pockmarked. I would submit that the product is certainly neither "virtually indestructible" nor "metal utensil safe."

Interestingly their lifetime warranty does not cover "scratch marks," which is puzzling because they've just claimed it's "virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe." How is a "virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe" surface going to get scratch marks on it? Maybe they know something we don't?

I am a serious cook, and I have tried just about every non-stick cookware available, and been disappointed--it either didn't work, or it didn't last.

The Swiss Diamond cookware is miraculous. It is so non-stick that you can almost get it dry with a shake or two-the water doesn't stay on it! I have probably used the pots and pans in my collection over 500 times, and nothing has taken more than a few swishes with a brush and a finish swipe with a plastic scrubber if I had cooked something on. And the non-stick covers the entire pan inside and out, except for the bottom that contacts the heat source.

One warning, which is made in the instructions: you must be careful to clean the pan thoroughly before using it again. Food left on the pan can cook into a permanent stain. This is true of every non-stick surface I have every used. My pans look like new after most of a year, and it hasn't taken more than a little extra care.

Unless you need to use very high heat, or just have to bang your pans around, I wouldn't buy anything else.

I really liked this pot when new. The distribution of heat is excellent, the nonstick coating was great, and it even had the neat feature that butter spreads out (usually on nonstick pots the butter sort of beads up. In this one it makes a lovely smooth coating you can fry on).

I still like the vented glass lid, which I have kept although I threw the pot in the trash.

After six months it was noticeably less "nonstick" needed a little extra work to get it clean.

After a year it was not "nonstick" at all.

After 15 months, it has nasty brown bits of unknown material that are very hard to clean off it. I don't know if it's burned food or some part of the pot itself that is peeling off yuck.

Sorry too expensive for a pot that only lasts a year. I'm back to my 20-year-old Revereware (but, alas, I see in the reviews that the Revereware brand is now cheesy Asian import junk instead of real quality American product. Sorry, I don't know what to recommend anymore, except maybe trying to find some old Revereware at Goodwill)

Update (2009) consider the ScanPan. It's working well for me.

I destroy cooking pots. I'm especially lethal to the light-weight teflon lined variety you'll find at the supermarket. My secret is simple: I like to cook on high heat and I get easily distracted. That guarantees that I'll forget what's on the stove and produce a scorched (and warped) utensil. If a lightweight teflon pot lasts me two years, it's extraordinarily lucky.

I now own four (different) Swiss Diamond pots. And even my brutal habits leave them unimpressed. Despite regular disasters, they seem to shrug off what would vanquish a lesser pot. (Admittedly, I do avoid metal spoons and spatulas and clean them with non-abrasive means.) They have excellent non-stick characteristics, superb heat-spreading, and -love it -are approved for very hot oven use. Adding up to ESSENTIAL cooking tools!

And when you factor the price of regularly replacing "cheaper" pots, their cost becomes more than bearable.

HIGHLY recommended!

It's hard to find small cooking spoons with a short handle like this. I have had no problems with breakage so far. Of course, these tools are meant to use when cooking smaller things. I would not try to turn a pot roast with the flipper, for instance but it works great for burgers and chops in my sauté pan . Also, because it is fairly stiff and sharp-edged, the flipper makes a great in-pan chopper for fresh mushrooms and such. The spoon is just right when working in a smaller saucepan. I have ordered three sets so far, mostly for the small spoon. I would not use on the grill, or leave propped over/in a pan on a gas stove. My stove is electric induction, and my pans do not get too hot up the sides, so no heat problems for me. 4 stars because I can see how others might find these too brittle for their use. Just have to use a light hand!

I wanted a small set but the spoon snapped at the handle the first time I stirred a casserole with it. The flipper lasted a couple of weeks longer but also snapped of at below the handle. Would not recommend this set.

I do have other turners and spoons but this is ridiculous. I ended up trashing the food I was cooking along with the turner and basting spoon! Waste of money!

We now have over 20 quarts of pickles thanks to this year's canning. We had been borrowing a very old pot from my parents. This one is much nicer, roomy, works well. I know the description says for "beginning' canning, but I don't know what else you could want our of a canning pot. My mother who has been canning for 60 years now wants to replace her old one and get one of these.

I have used the black coated canners in the past and needed a new one and saw it in stainless steel that was quite heavy. So, I thought, well aluminium is lighter and what a great product! Love it and have used about 5 times now. Easy to clean up, love the thermomenter and vent. Five Stars!

I searched everywhere to find a water bath canner that was approved to work on my flat-top stove. Everything that you use on the flat-top stove should also be completely flat or it could create air pockets and explode the glass stove top. So, this was it, I was so excited, this was the one that was approved for my stove top. Yippee! Or NOT, it was too large for my stovetop and my stove wouldn't even heat the water. So sad!!!
