I bought this shelf for a very specific use in a confined space. It is sturdy and fit like it was custom made, so I paid the price. For general use I would have bought a less costly version that is every bit as sturdy, I tried to do that, but they were no longer available. Nothing special about this to justify the cost, unless you just happen to have specific dimensions to satisfy. It would have been 5 star, but the cost is exorbitant and I downgraded it for that reason only.

Best Organized Living Large Cabinet Shelf, Nickel Deals
I can't decide between this and the Deep Jumbo Storage Shelf by Panacea Products so I ordered both. By looking at the picture and the title, you'll think it's made out from a Nickel metal but when it arrives, it's just a wire coated with epoxy coating, the Nickel is the color of the epoxy coating. Not really a big difference between this and the cheaper Deep Jumbo Storage Shelf by Panacea Products other than the color and the Panacea is even a little bit longer.

Review of Granite Ware 0730-2 Pressure Canner/Cooker/Steamer, 20-Quart

I had never had a pressure canner or cooker in the past. I do a lot of canning/preserving, but had always done the basic "hot bath" type for pickling & jellies. I needed a decent pressure canner so I could (safely) do low acid veggies & meats. This item was given to me as a gift. Just used it today and it is very easy to work with. The instruction manual was precise and to the point. So much so, I was glad to have my canning book and some other info on pressure canning from elsewhere as it seemed they assumed you had already used one in the past. But I won't mark it down in rating for that. Could just be me and my interpretation issues. This Granite Ware 0707-1 21-1/2-Quart Steel/Porcelain Water-Bath Canner with Rack is a heavy duty, quality made item. Looks to last me years of service.
Anyhow, if you want to pressure can some quality foods for storage, be that veggies from your garden or the local farmer's market; or make up your favorite baked bean or beef stew and can it for later use, this is a great cooker to invest in. This will hold up to 7 quart jars, OR up to 8 pint jars, OR up to 24 half-pint jars (using both the canning rack and the strainer rack).
This is the first time I've used a pressure canner/steamer and there was a bit of a learning curve. My regular pressure cooker came with a great manual with precise instructions and cooking times, recipes, etc. and I expected that with this one. This barely has instructions on how to put it together and operate it, plus one chart about cooking times. I've had to research everything online to be sure I don't blow up the kitchen. :)
That said, it is a great product and we've used it a ton this week. My husband and I put up a lot of produce this time of year and we've canned 8 quarts of apple pie filling, 20 pints of applesauce, 2 quarts of condensed apple juice and 9 pints of pickles -and that's just in a few days. I'm sure we'll get our money's worth from it! Once you get the hang of it, it is easy to use and I love my new canning options.
One last note-I bought this less than a month ago and it was $20 cheaper than it is today. There were no reviews then and now there is a positive review, so I wonder if that and a few purchases triggered a price increase? You might want to watch the price for a short time and see if it continues to fluctuate.
But it does work. Still disappointed in the rubbery-coated rack melting and burnt-looking after the first use. And it's getting worse with each use. It doesn't affect the usability of the canner though. Someday, I would like to get one of those gasket-less cast ones....the expensive one.

I bought this after seeing it advertised in a garden catalog and looking for a better price online. I have a regular pressure cooker and a canner, but I wanted to be able to can more fruits and veggies, and I was sold by the ad on the box (not shown here, shown on other product pages online for this model) that advertised you could steam 60 tamales in it. I'm still trying to find out how to do that, as the steamer comes with NO recipes and almost no information at all in the manual. This is the first time I've used a pressure canner/steamer and there was a bit of a learning curve. Best Deals for Granite Ware 0730-2 Pressure Canner/Cooker/Steamer, 20-Quart
I have been canning for a few years now, and decided to take it to the next level, more foods more canning. The water bath method si not possible for a lot of foods so it was a necessary purchase. I looked at a bunch, as I am sure that you did and finally settled on this one. I could not be happier. The packaging was very well done, and shipped in just a few days. The cooker itself is very sturdy and well made. Cleans easy, loads easy, works great, heavy duty construction.Honest reviews on Granite Ware 0730-2 Pressure Canner/Cooker/Steamer, 20-Quart
This canner is big. It can fit 8 pints and 5 or 6 quart jars. It is very nice quality and the annodized bottom didn't discolor like my Presto pressure cooker did. The jar rack is very nice quality too and a nice bonus. This canner may come at a lower price but it is super-high quality.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Granite Ware 0730-2 Pressure Canner/Cooker/Steamer, 20-Quart
After my first use, the coating on the wire rack came out melted and almost burnt looking. There was plenty of water in it right up to the 3" mark. So for a "new" wire rack, it looks very old and worn. Also, the jars don't sit evenly on the rack without some wrangling around. I'm new to canning and enjoying it, but I found it strange that while this canner will hold 7 quart jars, using pint jars only allows for one more jar, 8. It seems that if this canner were manufactured just a tad taller, pint jars could be double-stacked and allow for a more productive use of pint jars. 16 pints or 7 quarts would be a nice option. Also, it would be nice if it came with a gauge. But it does work. Still disappointed in the rubbery-coated rack melting and burnt-looking after the first use. And it's getting worse with each use. It doesn't affect the usability of the canner though. Someday, I would like to get one of those gasket-less cast ones....the expensive one.

Review of BOURGEAT COPPER CASSEROLE WITHOUT LID 7 7/8"
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $473.00
Sale Price: $330.02
Today's Bonus: 30% Off

I have owned this pan for about 4 years and it is the most used pan in our kitchen.
It has been used to cook many of the meals it is designed for and others such as risottos. I've discovered it can cook other foods that some say you can't in such a pan. Yes folks, I have cooked a great fillet steak and a tuna steak in this fabulous work horse! Just quietly ;-) it will also do a good stir fry if you are careful.
As a casserole, it is so good, I don't bother using my Le Creuset anymore. In fact, I hardly use the oven to cook stews or casseroles thanks to this pan, it's that good.
Cooking with copper is like driving a car, it responds to changes on the cook stove heat like a car does to the accelerator.
Cleaning up is easy and handling thanks to it's two handles, is a breeze.
If I was forced to use just one pan, this would be my choice.
Highly recommended!

Perfect platter for my needs. Great size and weight, BUT the finish was dinged in several places on the second one to be delivered. Not sure if it was just one platter, or a batch, as the first one to be sent to me was smashed, having been packed poorly. I didn't have the patience to order a third one.Best Deals for BIA Cordon Bleu 20 -Inch Porcelain Oval Serving Platter, White

I ended up buying it from shopko.com since Amazon did not have it in stock. The item that I ordered (and received) is the exact part number that was reviewed by Cook's Illustrated.
All I can say is that Cook's was right. This pan has amazing non-stick properties. I've been using the pan for several months now on a daily basis (I'm on a carb-restricted diet, so I eat fried eggs for breakfast every morning) and the non-stick properties of this pan are simply amazing. No sticking. Clean-up is a breeze. I'm VERY satisfied with this pan and will not hesitate to purchase another when this one wears out (hey, nothing lasts forever).
and prometal pro interior). After buying Calphalon, Cuisinart and other nonsticks over the years, I have been very disappointed because they really aren't nonstick and don't hold up well. This pan is amazing! I use it for omelets, vegetable sautes, meat sautes and general stovetop uses. It is lighter weight than most cooktop pans, but it is wide with slightly sloped sides so I can get a lot in it. And things saute to a nice brown with minimal fata winner in my opinion! I sure hope Tfal makes this product available again!

Those who complain that they found this pan model (E9380864) at a lower price elsewhere are confused. They were looking at a different, quite inferior product. This model has been out of stock in stores and internet for months. The other, cheaper model has been mistaken for this one. I know; I bought one of them. The model number was completely different, but I thought it was a replacement. Not so.Best Deals for T-fal Professional Total Nonstick Oven Safe Thermo-Spot Heat
OK, I love this pan's non stick... the CI review and the amazon people were right... however the one I got has a definite "hump" in the middle. If you put a tbs of oil in it as per a recipe, it all runs to the sides, leaving the middle dry. if you put eggs in it to fry, same thing. I wish I would have returned it, as no one else has had this issue.... so long story short, check it when you get it, and return it if you get a bum one like I did... I would order another and simply check it for this issue...Honest reviews on T-fal Professional Total Nonstick Oven Safe Thermo-Spot Heat

I purchased this Ovente KS93 electric kettle in December 2011. It is attractive, sturdy and does the job quite loud, though. However, the product began failing after less than 90 days of use. The "ON" toggle switch will not stay down, so the kettle will not heat unless you place something on top of the switch to keep it in the on position. So much for convenience, and certainly not safe.
Save your money and buy a better quality kettle.

I read all the reviews. I saw the number that talked about on switch failure. I banked on getting a good one that would not fail. Unfortunately the kettle lasted less than 6 months before it would not stay on without holding the switch down. I used it maybe once a week. Pretty expensive Kettle for so little use. This is the best way to cook a chicken or turkey, at home. With this v-rack, I was able to cook a 20 lb. turkey for Thanksgiving that was juicy and flavorful, without any of the muss and fuss of basting or brining.
Your white meat will come out very juicy, since cooking your bird upside down will let gravity pull the fatty juices from the dark meat down into the breast. However, this means the breast will not brown. I recommend flipping it over to let the breast brown for the last 15-30 minutes of cooking. Otherwise, this product works very well, and I am very happy with my purchase. Easy to clean!
The only worry I have is the appearance of a non-stick coating on the rack, that isn't all that non-stick, and seems to be peeling off in some areas. The entire rack is black so it's hard to tell, but I'm not finding any specks on the chicken itself so am hoping everything is okay.

This chicken rack is really the most intelligent invention. So easy to just pull the chicken out of the package and directly onto the rack. There's no way I am spreading possible salmonella around my kitchen with this simple step. The back of the chicken gets a really nice crisp skin on it and that's delicious, but the breast is not getting the same crispness, although it is extremely moist. I am going to start turning the chicken over for the last 15 minutes or so and see if I can really brown it.The only worry I have is the appearance of a non-stick coating on the rack, that isn't all that non-stick, and seems to be peeling off in some areas. Best All-Clad Stainless 10-Inch Fry Pan Deals

List Price: $105.00

This is probably the best fry pan available. You might want a nonstick pan in addition for cooking things that need a nonstick surface such as omlettes, etc. This pan is good for cooking everything that does not require the nonstick surface such as sautés, meat and fish, etc.
The stainless steel shell with aluminium inner core is a great design in that it evenly distributes the heat to all areas of the pan, including the sides. Some cheaper pans only have a heat conducting layer on the bottom of the pan, not on the sides.
I like everything about this pan. It's beautifully made, looks great and performs wonderfully-form follows function. It's the perfect size unless you routinely cook for a large family. I debated getting the 12" version of this pan at first, but when I took a look at the 10" I realized it will be fine for 99% of my cooking.
I admire good manufacturing of quality products. This pan is true quality through and throughout and should last you a long long time.
The 10-inch size is great for most everything. Every once in a while I could use a 12-inch version for more volume but not often. I use this guy for eggs, meat, stir fry and more. The pan heats really evenly and feels great in my hand. The handle does a great job of dispersing heat and staying cool, too. And, though it doesn't come with a lid, the large lid from the stock pot fits it well.
When things do stick, I don't worry about attacking it and scratching off the surface. I can use a scraper, sponge, or scouring pad without any problems. And it is safe in the dishwasher although I recommend handwashing as much as possible.
Some cooking tips I learned with this type of pan: Use a lower heat, not because you have to (like with non-stick), but because it heats so evenly, you often don't need that higher temperature. Also when you throw something in, whether you are using butter, oil, a spray, or nothing, let it sit and cook a bit before you try to move it around. Hamburger, for example, will adhere to the pan at first and if you try stirring it up right away, small pieces will be stuck and are more likely to burn. Rather, wait until it has a minute or two to cook on that side. The parts that adhere will cook, separate and lift away from the pan so you can stir it easier. And when you are done, if there is any food stuck to the pan, put some water in it and let it boil for a few minutes. This will help lift it off and make cleaning easier.
Again, a great pan, a great brand, and definitely worth the money since it will last you a lifetime with the warranty they give you.
This pan cooks so quickly and evenly that it's hard to mess up. Foods brown nicely but don't burn. The handle is sturdy and never gets too hot.
I often use this this in place of a wok, but it's really too shallow for that and has a bit of a spatter and spillage problem if you try to rapidly stir-fry. I wish it came with a lid. Also, I have not been able to cook eggs in it they stick to the bottom like glue no matter how much butter I use. But a good soak and a couple minutes of elbow grease cleans that right up.
Please note, there is a learning curve that comes with owning these type of products. If you're used to cooking with lower quality cookware like farberware or anything else you buy at Wal*Mart, you'll find yourself burning almost everything when you start using these pans. Because of the high-quality design and aluminum core, I've found that I needed to lower the temperature drastically to achieve the same results with the lesser pans. I'm still learning how to cook eggs without burning the bottom, but fortunately, with a short soaking in soapy water, the pans clean right up. Great for cooking crepes, sautes, meats, etc. With the all metal construction, they'll move easily to the oven as well. Read the literature that comes with the pans for tips on cooking with all-clad stainless.

After going with a non-stick version and having problems with that (not knowing the best way to use it), I exchanged it for the stainless version. This was a great decision. First, it showed me that All Clad does stick by its lifetime warranty. Second, because I learned that I don't need non-stick for everything and I found out the best way to use this type of cookware.

I am a careless and brutal cook and destroy cookware all the time. I can't use nonstick because I'll ruin pans by leaving them on max heat and forgetting about them. So this one was worth the high price because I've had it for almost two years now and it's still good as new. Handwashing seems to leave a little discoloration after heavy use so every so often I pop it in the dishwasher for a gentle scrub (though that's not recommended, you can still do it).
Honest reviews on All-Clad Stainless 10-Inch Fry Pan
I have this and several other all-clad stainless pans. For anyone looking to purchase a stainless pan and move away from teflon coated or lower quality cookware, all-clad stainless is a must. They are expensive, but well worth the cost. I bought this pan and love it. It has the perfect slope to flip food. As far as the handle goes...well, that's another story. All-Clad quality is top notch but they fall short on the handle design. The handle does stay unbelievably cool, but it's dam uncomfortable. I compensated for it being so narrow by purchasing a suede handle cover. I still rate it a five though.Wednesday, August 6, 2014

Wow! Gift from my girlfriend. What a great pan. I'm not much of a cook, and have long been using cheap teflon coated pans. Now that I'm raising chickens and cooking eggs every morning I'm learning what a difference a great tool like this can make in the kitchen.

This really is more of an omlet pan, or a pan for cooking up a single serving of meat. The copper requires polishing but it functions great.Best Deals for Mauviel M150 Copper Cookware with Cast Stainless Steel Handles
The pan seems to function, but the sticker in the middle of the pan DOES NOT COME OFF!!!! I tried peanut butter, coconut oil, olive oil, warm soap and water, multiple times like other people suggested. The sticker residue is still there. I cooked on it hoping it will come off, but the circular residue is still there. I wrote to the company asking for some response, but no response after 4 weeks. I will NEVER buy from this brand again. I use it because I paid $100 for it but I will NOT RECOMMEND.Honest reviews on Mauviel M150 Copper Cookware with Cast Stainless Steel Handles
Not has heavy as I expected, but it is a good product for the price nevertheless. I would probably buy it again.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Mauviel M150 Copper Cookware with Cast Stainless Steel Handles
This is a beauty of a frying pan. A wee bit smallish but for certain things it is excellent and a very good backup sized for a large frying pan. Extremely even heat as would be expected with a near solid copper pan. I'd like to buy its big brother.Thursday, July 3, 2014

Good quality at a very reasonable price! No need to spend more money.....these are perfect for the grill or smoker!!
This set of tongs works very well and is just what he was looking for.
Pros:
They're very comfortable
They're long enough to not get my fingers toasted, but not too long so as to feel like I'm holding a sword
Grippy enough to pick up sausages without dropping them
Open wide enough to pick up bigger pieces of chicken, steaks, etc.
Clean very easily
The handle stays cool even when working over the grill for a long time
Works well on the grill and on a stovetop, but I would NOT recommend these for non-stick pans (get silicone-tipped ones instead, like these: Orka 12-Inch Stainless and Silicone Tongs, Blue)
Cons:
The grips are just press-fit into the metal housing, so they might eventually fall out and get lost. This hasn't been an issue yet, but just be aware that they're not glued in or anything.
Overall, I love these tongs and would definitely get them again.

We searched local stores for something like this that my husband could use to lift and stir assorted cut vegetables when grilling them (with a little olive oil, and containing the pieces in a metal 'basket' we bought at Lowe's).This set of tongs works very well and is just what he was looking for.

I hate tongs that fight back at you when you're trying to use them. To me, that means they are too tight. (I've also found some that are way too loose and never really come together.) These are the perfect length for turning things on the grill!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for GrillPro 40259 Stainless Steel Tong
Is that the little piece to make it function to keep it from opening automatically really keeps it in place. That's all I really cared about.Monday, June 30, 2014

This received top ratings from America's Test Kitchen (Cooking Illustrated & Cook's Kitchen). I was skeptical because I have tried about a dozen different grill pans in the 18 months, but none have really worked. This is the best I have used yet.
One was a square-ish pan and the corners snapped and became unusable. A common problem with many pans; they are welded and not stamped or folded. The welds usually break due to the high heat in the grill.
My old favorite is a bowl style; it's decent, but the problem is the top is bigger than the bottom so there is not a lot of actual grilling space. As a result you either have steamed veggies or you have to keep stirring.
The biggest complaint I have about most grill pans is the holes. Either they are too big and things like cherry tomatoes and sliced onions fall through, or the holes are too small. Small holes have many problems: difficult to clean, too many and the food gets too charred, too many holes and the metal separating the holes breaks...etc.
This pan is the best pan I have used yet. It it made of one piece with NO welds; the sides are bent up to create a lip and give the user an edge to flip and turn food. Also, the holes are not actually holes, they are slits. This means that one does not have to worry about food slipping through the spaces; from time to time sliced onions get stuck, but not really a BIG deal. It works great for Portabella mushrooms though it is not just for veggies, it's great for fish. Another big seller is that this is stainless and easy-ish to clean. It's not going to be non-stick easy to clean, you will have to scrub, but with a Brillo pad and elbow grease it's not a big deal.
The only complaint I have is the size. I have a two burner grill (unless I can talk my wife into getting a new grill next summer) and the pan can be a little too big for this type of grill. This "complaint" is not that big of a complaint since I usually don't do veggies at the same time as the meat.
If Weber updates this pan, I would recommend making it available in a smaller size and upgrading the metal; it's a little light weight. It's not bad, a little more heft would be nice.
If you have a grilling fanatic in your family (even if it's you) then buy this pan. It's great! You won't be disappointed. Get this pan.
When I was growing up in the Midwest the outdoor grill meant only one thing, MEAT! Fortunately people are becoming more sophisticated in what they choose to grill. Now it is not unusual to find fish, shrimp, mushrooms, asparagus, you name it, cooking right next to burgers and steaks.
The only problem is, of course, smaller foods can drop through the grill and onto the fire. I have purchased screens and disposable grill pans before and they worked just okay. When I saw this pan and how reasonable it was priced I had to get it.
I like the build of this pan, very heavy-duty without being too thick. The raised sides keep the food from falling off and makes the pan easy to carry. It takes a little effort to clean (I use a SOS pad) but that is to be expected.
I use a small Weber--the Q200-and it is just big enough for cooking for 4-5 people. This grill pan fits perfectly on it but if I want to cook both meat and veggies at the same time I would need a bigger grill. I thought that I would make this little video to show the pan in action. Thank you!

Best grill pan ever. Raised edges keep everything in the pan. Small openings in the bottom of the pan makes certain that nothing falls through. Big handles make it easy to move around the grill. I've been grilling for 37 years and this is the best grill pan I have ever used.Honest reviews on Weber Style 6435 Professional-Grade Grill Pan
This was chosen by the equipment testers at "America's Test Kitchen"/"Cooks' Country" and I saw it reviewed and rated on one of their PBS shows. They rated it highest. It is a really efficient way to grill vegetables. I just clean zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, etc., toss them in a very small amount of olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper and fresh herbs. I arrange them on the grill pan for my husband to cook after he's finished cooking the meat or fish. The result is delicious, cooked just to the preferred doneness and without heating or steaming up the kitchen. The small openings in the bottom of the grill let the vegetables brown and carmelize just the right amount but keep them all together and out of the fire. (A tip, carry the grill pan on top of a cookie sheet to transport it back and forth from the grill; this keeps anything from dripping on the way to and from the kitchen.)With the free 2-day shipping option from Amazon this is an even better buy.

This pan saved our grill! We have a low-end gas grill that was given to me and my husband as a Christmas gift. No matter what settings we tried it would either burn the food or leave it raw. With this pan, we can turn the heat up to where it should be and the food doesn't burn! The only downside is that it is a bear to clean. Other people have recommended Easy Oven Off but I haven't tried that yet.
