Very disappointed! Just received these and although the design is pretty, the metal is very whimpy metal comparable to a frozen pie plate, and the enamel is visibly thin in spots over the embossed design. They barely support a pot sat on top of them. The ones I had before were very sturdy and fit the burner element rings closely. I expect a minimal usable life. They weren't expensive and clearly I got what I paid for. I'd avoid any design from this manufacturer.

The smooth surface side is not very smooth but acceptable.

Be awared that the measurement of the outside rim diameter is actually 13.5 inches and NOT 14 inches. The griddle area diameter is 12 inches. The box said 11", a misrepresentation due to Metric conversion over to English measurement.

The product came and made from China which is alright since China has a very long history with cast iron cookware and their cast iron cookware are just as good.

The product arrived fast and well packaged. Customer service at Shopperschoice.com is quick in replying.

It arrived with a broken handle. As you can see in the picture, the handle is a little samll for a heavy skillet like this one. But no problem, I packed it up, returned it, and a replacement was received considabily fast! (for super saver free shipping, Amazon probably lost money on this purchase for sending the heavy skillet 3 times (original, return, and replacement). Great service Amazon!

I had no experience using cast-iron cookware prior to this one but I consider myself and pretty good cook. I did a lot of reading and research on cast iron, and gave this a try. It works great! The pre-season coating worked as promised. I use it to prepare steak mostly and the result was nice. I am still experimenting and adjusting cook time as this piece works differently than any other cookware I had before, but I like what it can do so far. I have seen the same skillet (except for the boy scouts logo) selling cheaper at Walmart. But for something that heavy, I can understand the extra cost even just for shipping. I have not seen one with the boy scout logo anywhere and I think it looks a lot more handsome that the regular one. Combining the 2 factors, I think the extra few dollars was well worthed.

Ever since I have the skillet, I am constantly watching for good steak on sale from the local georcery so I can do more (rewarding) experiments.

This is a second one of my cast iron Lodge pans. I am very happy with it, as it proved invaluable in my kitchen. Thick cast iron provides even heat throughout the pan, without cold spots or hot spots. I don't have to use high heat to get amazing results. True, I do have to use both hands, but this is a minor inconvenience (and I get a workout). I suppose gradually I will replace all of my fancy non-stick aluminum pots and pans with those made in the USA by Lodge. They are not only "as good as", they are "better than", when it comes to cooking performance.

Bought this cast iron skillet some years ago and could not be happier. It comes preseasoned but that seasoning doesn't last long. I had to un-rust the skillet and reseason a few times but it was totally worth the effort. Now it cleans like a dream with little more than a soapy rag and cooks SO well. This pan has become a staple in my house and will cook anything. I can't even remember what I used before. I know I sound like a raving fool but this really has worked out well for me.

The Boy Scout emblem is nice but I think I initially chose this skillet because it was the only one that was part of an Amazon promotion: buy 3 get 1 free in cookware. I bought a lid to go with it and a couple of other cast iron items included in the promotion. The pan is heavy as most cast iron cookware tends to be but I'm so used to it now. I wouldn't trade my cast iron cookware for anything. So glad I upgraded.

Fits nicely on the wall in my teeny-tiny kitchen. I've got it set up to hold 6 pots and pans plus a couple of small items, and my cookbooks are up on top. It's perfect for about that amount of stuff (especially after I wall-mounted a lid holder next to it).

It's attractive, it's sturdy, and it was actually surprisingly easy to install. They include a set of high-end anchors that allows this to be installed *anywhere* on the (drywall not plaster) wall, instead of requiring that you mount it on a stud. First off I would like to say that this rack was not difficult to assemble as some reviews have said. It only has about 6 pieces and there was really nothing tricky to it at all. I had it assembled and on the wall in less than 1/2 hour.

This rack does seem a little overpriced, but it is very good quality and quite heavy duty. This fit perfectly in my kitchen pantry and is holding five frying pans and two strainers. Plus I have a pressure cooker and a couple of mixing bowls on the shelf. My wife is thrilled with it.

One thing I should mention is that it really takes two hands to take a frying pan off of it. You really need to hold the hook with one hand and slide the pan off with the other. Otherwise the hook will come off the rack when trying to slide the pan off. I suppose you could crimp the hook down a little more to help prevent this, but seeing as we hung ours at a height where it is easy enough to hold the hook, it is really not an issue.

Great little rack that freed up quite a bit of cupboard space!

I want to like the rack. It is a good price. It is solidly built. It looks really sharp. It comes with nice hardware to let you hang it on a drywall wall without studs.

However, it is quite a pain to put together. I have a bachelors degree in Computer Science, so I generally think I am good at following directions. I have had great success with Ikea directions. However, the directions on this thing kicked my butt. I had to read most lines 10 times to understand what it meant. Then I would still miss some subtle detail and have to redo the step. Trying to get the sides aligned perfectly square so that the holes would be the prescribed 20.75 inches apart was very hard. You would adjust it one way, and it would lean the other way. So much harder to get square than it should have been. The bolts I was working on were also very soft, so after 2 or 3 adjustments they would be stripped out, and that was all the adjustments you can do.

The included hardware assumes no studs. So if there is a stud where you want to hang it, you are out of luck. The included hardware also assumes 1.75" of empty space behind the drywall. If both these conditions are met, it will work great. If you have less than 1.75" of space behind your drywall, you will need to find another way to mount it.

So in conclusion, if you are good at reading complicated directions, and want a sturdy pot rack for a good price, get this guy. If you are not very handy, you might be better off with a different one.

I needed more space for my smallish kitchen and I knew a pot rack would be a bonus but I wanted one that was wall oriented and small enough to fit anywhere. I searched the site and read all the reviews of this item and the references to small kitchens so I took a chance and am I thrilled with it!!!! This is something that had been on my wish list for a while. I had not used one before but I liked the concept. Finally got one for my birthday a couple of years ago, and this has grown into one of my favorite tools. For bacon, nothing is better. I cook up 5 pounds at a time and freeze in 4-slice packs, and this little beauty makes the cooking process easy. Nice flat pieces that are great for that after-work BLT. Works great for panini and is definitely cheaper and easier to use than a specialized machine that does the same job for 5 times the price.

This is a real low-tech old school way of cooking that proves over and over again why its still so popular.

I only wish this came in a size that would properly fit a 12" frying pan for when I'm cooking breakfast for a crowd.

When you grow up with flat bacon, nothing else is good enough. So I made the plunge and bought this press for the sole purpose of cooking flat bacon in my cast-iron cookware. That makes this an expensive uni-tasker for me (which, along with the screws, is why I only gave it 4 stars), but I still think it was a good purchase.

The construction of the press seems high-quality. It is indeed heavy, but I have no concerns about the handle coming off or anything like that. You do need to assemble it, requiring a flathead screwdriver and an adjustable wrench or pliers, but it isn't difficult. The screwheads sit in an indentation on the bottom of the press and are exposed to the food/cooking surface. The hygiene implications of that might be a problem for some, but those people would probably not like cast-iron anyway. However, the screw indentations are deep enough so that the screws aren't capable of scratching the cooking surface. Cleanup means wiping with some warm water and using a stiff bristle brush if necessary. Dry off and coat with a thin layer of oil.

Use is quite simple. I can't imagine using the press on steaks or burgers since that would press all the juice (not necessarily fat) out of them and make them dry, but it's perfect for bacon. With extened use the wire handle will get warm, but never necessitated the use of mitts or gloves. One thing I noticed while using the press is that you will want to use a pan at least somewhat larger than the press. When I used the press with my cast-iron pan with a 7" bottom, the fat from the bacon had nowhere to go and would end up rising up and over the sides of the press, pooling on top of it.

Overall, it's a well constructed press with the only real downside being the exposed screws on the bottom. The handle stays cool and my bacon stays flat. A bit of a luxury, but worth it for me. Also, if you are going to use this for bacon, do yourself a favor and save the bacon grease to cook with or to season other cast iron vessels with later.

The press functions well enough, but as other reviews have mentioned the handle is shotty. It's held on with bolts which get gunked-up with grease and crud. I have to disassemble the handle (with tools) to clean the press thoroughly. The coiled handle doesn't stay cool enough to touch anyway, so why not use a one-piece design like the Lodge panini press? One good bonus this press offers is I can use it as a lid for the Lodge 6.5" skillet, which doesn't have an available lid.

My issue with ordinary oven mitts was that I would accidentally dip the tips of the thumb into food all the time, not sure if it was lack of coordination or incompetence, but the grip on this glove is easy to clean, as well as being great at gripping glass and almost completely heat resistant. This pan is made of thin aluminum that can get easily bent. While it is coated, it isn't actually very non-stick (I don't expect most things to be non-stick anyway, but it's good to note). Aside from that, it works in smaller ovens, but if you shop around, it is possible to find muffin pans that fit six muffins, are around this size, and are made of steel with rolled edges.

We were looking for stemless martini glasses everywhere! Could not find any elegant looking. Most looked like cheap dessert glasses. These are elegant and heavier than they look. You will not be disappointed.

Adding to this review. Still using these all the time and still 5 star. Now we put a bit of water in the bottom of the glass, put into the freezer, and when we are ready to make our straight up martini, it stays cold due to the ice formation.

Heavy duty pan with comfortable handle. Have use several weeks now and love the way it cooks. I have used these forks for more than 30 years. I carry one in purse at all time because I never know when I will be eating my beloved crab legs. These are the best forks I have ever found for crab legs. Every time I go out with someone and they see me use one, they want one, so I give them one. Over the years I have purchased more than 50 of these forks and will continue to purchase them. One end works like a can opener and the other end pushes the meat out. They work very well on the small snow crab legs--better than any other fork. You won't be disappointed.

Seriously, we all use tall jars, right? Some of those are also narrow, so spearing things in them with standard forks can result in spills, loss of marinading fluid, messy counters, etc.

I can't speak to using them for crustaceans because sadly I am now allergic to those, but I'd been seeking forks that would work perfectly for tall and thin jars for some time and these are wonderful!

The wood finish is very nice but I found that the compartments for tea bags are tight. A regular Bigelow or Twinings individually wrapped tea bag will fit but it is a very tight squeeze. The lid will not close all the way if they are placed in the box standing straight up. Also, the chain broke as soon as I opened the box. All in all, the tea chest's wood is very nice and the compartments many.

Like others have noted, the size of each compartment is too small. Most tea bag brands (not just Bigelow) are both too tall and too wide to fit comfortably whether they're placed sitting upright (usual), standing on their side, or laying on their backs. When sitting upright, as is usually displayed in these type of products and which works the best, the lid doesn't close. I'm not sure what tea bags the maker of this box think the rest of us are using. If you use dainty little tea bags this one will work. If not look elsewhere.
