I ordered this pan, thinking it'd be perfect for melting chocolate, but this pan can't be used on glass or ceramic stovetops. Just be aware of that limitation before you order!

Amazon needs to be more descriptive of this product. It says right on the label not to use on a glass cooktop, no where is this mentioned in Amazon's description of the product. It looks like a nice pan, but it needs to go back. Lots of people are using glasstop ranges, these days. Amazon, please update your description of this product.

I have never double boiled anything and this product leads me to believe it's easy because I was able to melt my chocolate effortlessly and cleanup was a breeze. I love the sturdiness and yet it's so so light at the same time. I would buy more pots from this brand and style.

This is great! It was perfect for dipping cherries. Anything bigger would not have worked as well. It reminds of the roaster my mom used to have. It is the same material. I am sure to have years of use from this.

I got this for my wife as she likes her milk warm-hot for her coffee in the mornings. Well if you have ever done this you know that milk will boil over and cause a huge mess. After witnessing this 50 + times and knowing a double boiler would do the trick I finally found one reasonably priced for what we needed it for. It works perfect and have yet to have anything boil over and mess up the stove. Lightweight for sure, not for the "Williams -Sonoma" kitchen but great for the normal people in the world.

This pan is an absolute steal (no pun intended). I have been cooking with all-clad for 8 years, and just picked up one of these, and I can not tell the difference from a performance standpoint. This thing heats up quickly and evenly, and does everything that I look for in a pan. Now the only remaining question is how it will hold up over time, but I am optimistic that I will support my five star rating 10 years from now.

If you are in the market for this type of pan, I would get one of these before they figure out that they could charge considerably more for this outstanding product.

Also, as another reviewer stated, this does review not apply to the other products made by this company. The tri-clad is well-made, substantial cookware, while the other Tramontina cookware seems to be quite lacking.

I wanted to buy the whole set, but it was sold out so I settled for just the pan. I'm very happy with my purchase, it cooks everything perfect. The only issue I have is that it is smaller than I expected it to be. Just be aware if you purchase this pan you may be a bit disappointed cause it might be smaller than you want.

Best Deals for Tramontina Prima Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Saute Pans

NOTE: I am going to say some complimentary things about THIS pan. PLEASE, do not assume that the same holds true for every pan in this product line, because I can tell you that it does not. Some of their stainless uses the much less desirable "bottom plate" approach, and is not remotely comparable to a clad pan. Evaluate one pan at a time, and be wary of buying sets in order to get a "bargain". Some of the pans will likely be less desirable, and in any case, you will end up with stuff you will never use. That said, Cooks Illustrated did review the Tramontina 8 pc. set favorably in its price class. However, they also suggest you not buy sets, and they have a "build it yourself set" they recommend in order to cherry pick among manufacturers and get the best collection for the money. Look for the article "Essential Cookware" in their July, 2009 issue. It is also on their web site, but that requires membership, so try the library, or a friend who subscribes. The review of the Tramontina 8 pc. set can be found in the May 2009 issue of Cooks Illustrated.

Now for the review:

As I write this, the listing says that this product has not been released yet. But I picked one up a week ago for a little less than half a century at a local branch of the ubiquitous and obnoxious Arkansas based big box place.

I bought the pan with the purpose of giving it to my son, who is trying to ramp up his cooking game a bit. I wanted him to have a decent stainless pan, so he could learn about de-glazing, using fond, etc., and without having to fight uneven heating and all the problems attendant to inadequate cookware.

Having now spent an afternoon cooking with this pan, I have to say that it really isn't bad. It is an obvious knock off of the All Clad tri-ply, and they have done a presentable job, at least at first blush. While it is definitely not as good as my All Clad Copper Core, it is also only about 1/5th of the cost. If you're on a tight budget, and All Clad's prices, even for their less expensive lines, have you in cardiac arrest, this pan might not be a bad compromise. Having spent a little time with each, I would pick this pan over the same type of item in the "Emeril Lagasse Emerilware" line, which is (tragically) manufactured under the All Clad imprimatur, although not here in the regular All Clad plant.

Perhaps the looming arrival of mass market tri-ply provided the impetus for All Clad to develop the D5 line ? I won't be giving up my Copper Core All-Clad Copper Core 12-Inch Fry Pan for this stuff, but it is decent starter ware.

Bon Appétit !

The dinner bell is big and has a loud distinctive sound which is what we were looking for. Assembling the dinner bell was easy if you are creative as there were not any instructions. Our only disappointment was the bell does not move smoothly as the swivel points are rough and will need grinding and sanding. Good value for the price but expect to do some work.

This was a perfect example of what I feel was a bait and switch. Will always wonder what the Cajun Dinner Bell would of been like. Once burnt by that seller I will never know. I did not receive the Cajun dinner bell. Was switched to the Independence Bell 1776. If I would have wanted that bell I would of ordered it over the Cajun bell. (Independence Bell) Which is a cheaper bell, very poor quality, was bought for a gift and no way could you give this bell as a gift. The bell hung at a 15 degree list (tilt) in the cradle and the paint is coming off the product.

This is the best way to cook a chicken or turkey, at home. With this v-rack, I was able to cook a 20 lb. turkey for Thanksgiving that was juicy and flavorful, without any of the muss and fuss of basting or brining.

Your white meat will come out very juicy, since cooking your bird upside down will let gravity pull the fatty juices from the dark meat down into the breast. However, this means the breast will not brown. I recommend flipping it over to let the breast brown for the last 15-30 minutes of cooking. Otherwise, this product works very well, and I am very happy with my purchase. Easy to clean!

This chicken rack is really the most intelligent invention. So easy to just pull the chicken out of the package and directly onto the rack. There's no way I am spreading possible salmonella around my kitchen with this simple step. The back of the chicken gets a really nice crisp skin on it and that's delicious, but the breast is not getting the same crispness, although it is extremely moist. I am going to start turning the chicken over for the last 15 minutes or so and see if I can really brown it.

The only worry I have is the appearance of a non-stick coating on the rack, that isn't all that non-stick, and seems to be peeling off in some areas. The entire rack is black so it's hard to tell, but I'm not finding any specks on the chicken itself so am hoping everything is okay.

This is so awesome, I love the way you can flatten it to stir the bottom of the pan.

This thing is great, in theory. So is peeing in the shower. Then you pee, the steam exacerbates your coffee aftermath and you kinda wished you didn't do it. That's how I felt about this thing. The handle is awkward and the "head" reminds me of the Blender Bottle's "blender" mechanism. You whisk your eggs and spend a good amount of time trying to shake the "egg white snot" off the whisk. If you're looking for something to fully incorporate your whites and yolks and spices and milk (to make the egg whites fluffier, of course), you'd be better served purchasing an immersion blender. Like Cuisinart CSB-75BC Smart Stick 2-Speed Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed Chrome, but less chrome and more SAUCY. See what I did there?

Product arrived very fast. I use it to steam corn on the cob (17 minutes of steam time). I cut off the stem end of the corn at the widest part, and steam the corn with husks and silks still on. When done, use an oven mitt to grasp corn by tops of husks and silks and shake the corn cob free. All silks are automatically removed and the corn has that wonderful cooked-in-the husk flavor.

They work well and hold up in dishwasher after many years of use.

Best Deals for Amco Nylon Soup Ladle

A lot can be said about books, music, computers etc. But honestly what can you say about a soup ladle? Except of course that it looks nice, has a pleasing design and performs the function of transferring the liquid--be it soup, chili, spaghetti sauce or whatever in a smooth and efficient manner. And my Amco ladle is pleasant to the eye and performs all of its' tasks in a workmanlike fashion. And the price was right. Oh,I also stuck a nail in my kitchen wall and hung the ladle among a gaggle of kitchen utensils--and you know what--it looks pretty cool.

Honest reviews on Amco Nylon Soup Ladle

While not in this particular item description, here on Amazon and elsewhere these Amco nylon utensils are described as stainless steel with nylon coated business ends, be it spoon, spatula, or ladle. None of them are in my experience. The business end here is small and flimsy nylon mold with a thin metal handle stuck into it. Even so I find it useful and for the price and not worth bothering to return.

If there actually was a sturdy, full stainless steel utensil with a nylon coated working end I would be interested in trying it out on non-stick pots, woks, and pans.

Amoco (and/or their distributors) get a big fat zero for deceptive advertising even though this utensil is not complete junk. The thin handle is uncomfortable but this utensil is still useful and dirt cheap.

Got fed up with teflon coated pans, the coating is just too fragile so they wear out quickly and the food ends up sticking anyway. Plus, I'm sure they're not the best for your health. So, I went for a plain old stainless pan instead and I don't regret it! This pan is well made, it has a nice weight to it, and the silicone grip makes it easy to handle. It heats evenly, and retains that heat beautifully. I find I don't have to turn my burner up nearly as high as I did with my old pan. I've mainly used it for cooking eggs and bacon in the morning, so I can't really comment on cooking anything else. But for those items, it's been a dream.

There's a bit of a learning curve with stainless though, you can't just turn the heat on, throw some oil and food in and expect things not to stick. You have to heat the pan for a couple minutes before you put the oil in, then let the oil heat up for a bit. The goal is to get the pan and oil hot enough to cause the water in the food to vaporize, creating a cushion between the food and the pan (or at least, that's what google told me). You'll have to experiment with different temperatures; you don't want it too cold, but you don't want it too hot either. Too much heat will break the oil down and cause things to burn and stick anyway. It takes a few tries to get the balance just right, but you'll figure it out. Once you do, it's better than non-stick! I can slide a serving of scrambled eggs out onto a plate without leaving a trace in the pan. I simply wipe the remaining oil residue out with a paper towel and it's ready for next time! And yes, you have to use oil for EVERYTHING. Even greasy things like bacon, or else it'll stick. The cold fat will adhere like glue. You don't need to use more than a teaspoon though, so it's probably not going to kill you.

By the way, if things do start to stick badly (and if you're anything like me, it will happen in the beginning... a lot), simply pour a bit of hot tap water into the hot pan on the stove (not cold water, you don't want to warp the metal!) and scrape around with a spatula. You'll easily get most of the gunk out that way. Then take it to the sink and use a scrubber pad (you can do that with stainless, yay!) and some soap to clean out the rest. Good as new, no big deal.

So, if you're willing to do a little experimenting and develop the skills required to use it, buy this pan! The ladies dig guys who know how to use a stainless steel pan correctly. At least, that's what I like to believe...

Nice heavy pan. The weight is a real pleasure. (Yes it is heavy, it's supposed to be, say thank you, don't complain.) Takes longer to heat up on my crappy electric stove than a thinner non-stick pan. But it's supposed to. I can also cook with almost exactly half the heat that my Calphalon non-stick pans require. I haven't cooked with All-Clad or any of the high end pans, I specifically tried this hoping I wouldn't have to pay the premium price for those. (Though I do have a few pieces of Le Creuset cast iron. The big dutch oven and an 11.5 inch skillet. So I do know what good performance is.)

My only complaint is the color of the red/pink silicone handle cover. This is commercial cookware, so I get it. Bright colors in a fast and busy kitchen. The color doesn't look bad, it's just not a color I especially like.

Another reviewer complained that the silicone handle cover was too short. It is a heavy pan, I suppose I can understand the point if you wanted to use two hands or if you didn't have a lot of strength in your wrists. But once again, this is commercial cookware. Anyone working as a cook is going to be able to manage a pan one handed. The cover is certainly long enough and with some to spare, to grip safely with one hand and even two if you're careful and need to move a full pan across the room.

All in all, it cooks a lot like my Le Creuset 11.5 inch cast iron in terms of heat distribution. Not quite as good, but it cost 25% as much too. And it's a lot easier to take care of.

Finally this really is a 3-ply pan, layers go all the way up the sides. Very uniformly made. I almost didn't try this because it has so few reviews. I'm glad I did. Pick up some barkeepers friend and you're set.

Best Deals for Winware 3-Ply Stainless Steel Fry Pans

This skillet is one of the very best I have ever used. It is very easy to clean, not to heavy and the silicone handle really helps.I would highly recommend it.

Honest reviews on Winware 3-Ply Stainless Steel Fry Pans

This is a good quality pan and is heavy and sturdy. My only complaint is that the silicone sleeve isn't long enough over the handle. My hand has to hold the metal part also, to balance the heavy pan, and it is not comfortable at all. The handle is very thin and rough to the touch. Otherwise, the pan cooks food very quickly and cleans up well.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Winware 3-Ply Stainless Steel Fry Pans

I bought this hoping the price wasn't necessarily indicative of quality, and my risk paid off! The stainless surface isn't as smooth as, say, an All-Clad or Calphalon, so it usually takes a bit more scrubbing to clean thoroughly, but it works just fine for cooking crepes and omelets. Additionally, it is still pretty slow to heat up, but it does get very hot, and cooks evenly. And, though other reviews say otherwise, I didn't find this pan to be too heavy; I have a DeBuyer Mineral B Iron skillet (lighter than lodge cast irons), which is still significantly more heavy than this pan. I'm not a body-builder, but I can still toss vegetables with it while sautéing them.

Probably the one thing that bothered me (though it really shouldn't have), was that though the brand is "Winco USA," the pan is made in China. I thought this would be the case, but held out my hopes anyway.

At the $30 price tag that's been on Amazon for a couple months or so, and for a skillet that does just what it should, this is an amazing deal.

I have used these since Christmas 2011. I bought them to replace an aging T-fal set. The T-fal non-stick is better than these even after hundreds of cleanings. For some reason, the non-stick is rougher than most other non-stick. Also, I heard cracking from the lid for the fryer when I cooked with it. The noise is no longer there but I won't use it much anymore. I don't trust it now. I have an electric stove. The smallest pan does not sit flat when empty. It looks like the handle is too heavy for small pan's size and weight. The problem is, that size is the one I use the most. For the price, I'm disappointed. I will use them for now but I would never buy this set again. I would probably go for a higher end T-fal or Farberware.

We replaced a 10-year old set of Cook's (JCP) cookware earlier this year, with the Oneida 10-piece set. I'd go along with virtually all of the other reviews reflected here. The cookware seems to perform very well. Good heat distribution. Cleans easily. Good finish and non-stick properties. Good, heat-isolating handles. I'd say that the only limited drawback has been the relative sizes of the cookware especially the large skillet and the large stockpot. For larger entrees or bigger recipes, both the skillet and stockpot are pushed to their maximum capacity in terms of their ability to accommodate large recipes and actually be able to stir the contents safely, without spillage. Overall, this a great set for the price, but if you do larger quantities, you may want to invest in a larger individual stockpot purchased separately.

Sproutease Sprouter Jar Tops ( 1xSET/3PC) Reviews

Sproutease Sprouter Jar Tops
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I think using lids like these on a mason jar is the easiest and most sanitary way to sprout. If you don't know how the jars work, just search the web. It will show you. This review, though, is about why this specific product is a particularly good set of sprouting lids.

This product "Sproutease" (Sproutease Sprouter Jar Tops ( 1xSET/3PC)), a.k.a. "Sprout-Ease" (Sprout-Ease Econo-Sprouter Toppers Set 3 Piece(s)), is an excellent set of lids. Notice that I said *set*. This is 3 lid set, not just a single lid. Why is having 3 lids important? Because they are lids with different sized holes. Yellow lid: small holes. Green lid: medium holes. Red lid: large holes.

Having different sized holes allows you to drain the seed husks off easily! Here is how I do it:

I like to sprout small seeds, like broccoli, radish, clover, and alfalfa. I start these with the yellow lid (the one with the smallest holes). Once the seeds have started to sprout and have a root of about 3/4 inch, I switch to the red lid (the largest holes). With the red lid on, I put the jar under the faucet and let water rise to the top. As I gently agitate the jar, the husks of the already-sprouted seeds float to the top and exit through the large holes in the red lid. By that point the sprouts are too large to leave through the holes. Doing this for a few minutes on the third or fourth day of growth rinses away about 80% of the husks. Nice.

Of course, if you like the husks for some reason, you can just use the yellow lid through the whole process, and they will stay in there.

I have had 2 sets of these jar tops for over 10 years. The 3 sizes of openings make hull removal very easy. I have never had trouble with mold (like i have had with those multi-tray stacking pieces of junk) because thorough rinsing is easy to do with this sprouting method.

Best Deals for Sproutease Sprouter Jar Tops ( 1xSET/3PC)

It's great to have different size holes in your lids for sprouting seeds, beans, etc... They are a little thinner that the green lid that comes with the jar, but they work great...

Honest reviews on Sproutease Sprouter Jar Tops ( 1xSET/3PC)

Quite easier than using cheese cloth or another method. I find I only use the small size, but the others seem like they would work fine for larger seeds. Easy sprouting method if you have a few extra wide mouth canning jars.

Just LOVE these things. Work on the road, so I'd normally buy one for cooking in motels from Calgary to New Iberia. Then give it away at the job's end. Now that the handle's more stable and heat resistant it's just about perfect. The plasma-embedded titanium ceramic means you'll still need some oil. But has none of the shortcomings of PTFE. You can find the same with slate-coated pure aluminum skillets for less at TJ or Marshall's, but here it's Scanpan's design features that seem superior. Don't even think about the price. I've had one for 18 years and you can see a few scratches in but not through the coating.

This is a very nice piece of kitchen ware. I first came accross it while house sitting at a friend's place and ended up using it for making most meals. I had to buy one for myself.

Just beautiful quality.

The only minus point is the lack of lid which would come very handy.

Best Deals for Scanpan Classic 11-Inch Wok

I bought this pan thinking that I am buying a non-stick pan without Teflon. While the health issue became questionable concerning Teflon, I am willing to pay extra to be safe, and at the same time still enjoying the non-stick feature. The product description somehow suggested that the pan is non-stick because it's ceramic titanium.

Well, I was wrong, and I didn't know I was wrong until I accidentally browse the company's website and read its FAQ. In their FAQ, it says: "The ceramic-titanium particles become one with the pan at that point. A subsequent application of a specially formulated PTFE provides the nonstick effect." PTFE is the problematic element of Teflon. Well, I wish the company discloses this information somewhere on the product!

After years and years of trying to find a non-stick pan that wouldn't go bad (stick...flake, etc) I finally came upon the Scanpan. The wok looked perfect. I purchased it, and a smaller frypan from a local store (what a waste, Amazon's price is less than HALF the local price!). All was well for about 5 months, then the center bottom started to roughen and stick. It got worse as the months went by. A close examination last month showed little fragments had broken off (we ate them!) and the entire center surface was rough. Since I had paid so much ($179 for the wok) I was VERY careful to use only bamboo and plastic implements....never a metal implement...never. I followed warranty directions exactly, but DID occasionally use it as a wok and used higher, but not smoking hot, temperatures. Still....it ended up looking much like the $39 non-stick wok I had purchased from a restaurant supply house two years ago. The smaller frying pan still looks good. Very disappointing.

So I think I've learned two things: always buy from Amazon, and there is no such thing as a durable non-stick pan.

We had been going through 1 or 2 non-stick pans a year. We finally got tired of people working for us scratching them with metalic utensils. So, now we use this one ourselves and use a regular heavy duty stainless still (not not-stick) for nannies/family/baby sitters to use. We have been pretty careful with it and don't use it at high temperature and hand wash with a sponge. It's lasted pretty nicely with some minor cosmetic blemishes but is still fully non-stick. Have not bought a new pan now in 2-3 years. Problem solved. I just wish the different sizes were just as affordable.
