I purchased this set to go with the Silver Tear flatware set. Both are beautiful. I would have to agree with an earlier post that both the flatware and hostess set are substantial and heavy; a good thing in my opinion. Very pleased and would highly recommend!

I cannot say a thing against this Silver Tear pattern. I found it at Amazon when looking for new stainless for my new condo that I am decorating with a beach/coastal theme. The pattern name may be Silver Tear, but to me it looks just like some twisted rope that one would use to attach an anchor to a boat. The individual pieces are LARGE and heavy and feel VERY expensive! I get many complements on them!

This hostess set matches my Hampton Carousel Flatware very well even though it is a different company.

They are sturdy perfect!

These pieces are heavy, very well made and stylish. Matching tableware is just as nice. I've purchased multple sets of stainless silverwear over the past 25 years. These are by far the nicest pieces I have gotten.

I needed a new tea kettle and like other reviewers have stated on reviews for various styles, who would have thought it would have been so involved finding one I liked? The thing that was most important to me is a removable lid. My last tea kettle cost me probably less then $10.00 and has lasted for better then 15 years. The only thing that was wrong with it was the handle. It had begun to become loose and did not have screws that could be tightened. It was becoming dangerous due to the fact that when I was pouring the boiling water into my cup, with the handle being so loose the 'pot' of the kettle would swing and I was afraid that one day I would end up with boiling water all over myself so off I went looking for a replacement. I love shopping on www.amazon.com so I looked and I looked and read reviews til I was cross-eyed! Although this one had no reviews (and I am pleased to be the first!) I liked the looks, the fact that it has a removable lid, and a stationary handle that stays cool and has a button you push to open the pour spout. With my old one, I had to remove the whistle from the spout and as you can imagine it could be very hot. The whistle on my old tea kettle was piercing; this one is softer but I am able to hear it if I'm in another room. I like the fact that the lid fits very snug. I have arthritis in my hands and the button on the handle that opens the spout is easy enough for me to push open and closed. It's a good weight and does seem to be very well constructed. I have been using it for my nightly tea ever since it arrived and I am loving it! It really looks nice sitting on my black smooth top stove too. I think I'm going to be using this one for a very long time.

This is an excellent tea kettle. It holds 2 quarts, it heats up quickly, pours perfectly and doesn't spill a drop, handle stay comfortable. It has a lining on the inside and I can't see any way it could possibly rust (I do empty it every time), and it whistles loud enough to be heard anywhere in my house. What more could you ask of a tea kettle.

I have read lots and lots of reviews on other kettles (as well as this one). I couldn't believe all the complaints on some of the other kettles. This one seemed to be just right for me and it is! It is also a beautiful kettle with a nice modern look, and I love mine. Thanks again, Amazon 5+ stars for you and the kettle.

this is just what i was looking for i had been looking for a whisteling tea pot for sooo long and i read a ton of reviews before i buy anything. and this item did not really have all that many good reviews but i thought i would take a chance with it so i did and i'm glad i did. it whistle so loud with time first you will seem steam coming out of the whistle tip but then after about 10 min after that the whistle will slowly get louder. so don't worry the whistle does get very loud. but works great and always love the "me coffee" brand.

Honest reviews on Gibson Mr Coffee Harpwell 1.8 ? Liter 2 Qt Whistling Tea Kettle

The tea kettle is ok. I love the shape and look. It is very large, larger than I need. I love the the trigger to open the spout. You click it and it pops open and stays open until you shut it. The thing I find disappointing about it is that the handle gets very hot. I find I have to us a pot holder when pouring which is very disappointing. Because of the hot handle I would not buy again, and will probably keep an eye out for a replacement.

I shopped long and hard for the perfect tea kettle. This one is great. It not only is affordably priced, but also has my must-have features. This kettle has a loud enough whistle, is not too big, is attractive, has a very substantial stay cool handle, has an easy to reach spout opener button which avoids steam burns, and it heats the water quickly to a full boil. I highly recommend this kettle.

I bought this pan in a department store on a whim; I had a gift card that was about to expire. I have some All-Clad and was hoping to find another All-Clad pan to add to my collection; I was not too surprised when I could not. I "settled" for this pan. It's not much of a "settle" because this pan is great.

I am an avid cook it's how I relax and I use this pan all the time right along side my All-Clad. I will be purchasing more Cuisinart pans in the future. For the price and the quality, you can't beat them. They are great on a ceramic top stove.

I did notice that food stuck the first time and that discoloration did appear the first few times. This is normal for stainless steel pans. Just heat up and deglaze to remove the food. For the discoloration... just keep going, all my stainless steel pans, that have been discolored, have gone back (to a stainless appearance) after I use them a couple more times. Just keep in mind that because this is a quality pan, the heat will not need to be nearly as high as with other pans. Heat being too high can cause permanent discoloration and can ruin a pan.

Over all great pan great buy.

I follow a strict regimen of man cooking, which allows for just one cooking vessel, one serving/dining vessel, and optimally, one utensil. This pan meets nearly all needs: part saucepan, part wok, and part saute pan. Brilliant.

I waited a year after purchase to review this pan so that I could mention durability -but within a month of buying it, this became the most-used piece of cookware in my kitchen. It's big enough to do a quick saute for 1-2 persons, but if like me you do much cooking that requires reductions (stocks, sauces), you'll adore this pan. I'm crazy about it, and it's also shown such durability that I've subsequently bought 4 other pieces of Cuisinart stainless steel. As good as All-Clad products are, I honestly think these Cuisinart pieces are just about comparable to them... for a fraction of the price.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart 735-24 Chef's Classic Stainless 3-Quart Chef's Pan

First off, I am a devoted Cuisinart cookware fan; I own nonstick hard-anodized, stainless steel and Multiclad pieces. I bought this piece because I couldn't find a Multiclad Chef's pan in any size.

It's very nice great, mirrored finish interior & attractive brushed exterior, with a safe, good-fitting (not too tight) mirrored lid. It's lighter than Multiclad in weight, as you'd expect from stainless steel. Heating is even, the capacity is generous and the shape accommodates most utensils down in the 'seam' where the pan bottom meets the bowl. If you know how to cook with & care for stainless steel, Cuisinart's will not disappoint you -it's very forgiving and easy to clean.

I tend to use my glass lid (their lids are completely interchangeable) when cooking with this, and I think it's a little too small to use in place of a wok, unless you're only cooking a meal for one or two people. But it's versatile and effective, and fits a valuable niche in my kitchen.

Now, if only it was available in the Multiclad line....

Cooking with this pan is not like using a light aluminum pan with vented lid, so take your time to adjust.

The domed lid allows moisture to return to the food, down the sides, which helps reduce scorching and keeps nutrients and flavor in the food. This is not for high temperature cooking, as is the case with all stainless steel cookware. You can use much lower temps and the lid keeps the heat that would be lost out of a vent IN the pan. Remember to use a dishtowel or hotmitt to grab the handle, which is riveted and sturdy.

This pan can do many things: you can do fast stir-fryups in it as well as single-pan dishes, remembering that the center bottom of the pan is hotter than the sides, which the flame should NEVER touch. Use the electric burner, if you don't have gas, that fits inside the diameter of the base disc and you'll avoid LOTS of problems, as with all base-disc cookware.

Clean this pan VERY thoroughly: there is a machine oil coating on it you can't see or feel that will come off with dish soap, and then warm the pan, then get it fairly hot and THEN add some high-temp oil (canola is fine) and roll the oil inside the pan over the heat. Turn off the heat, continue to roll the oil to cover the entire inside, and then let it sit for a moment, get a paper towel, crumple it and wipe the hot oil out. Be careful to keep your fingers off the metal and oil. Leave a light film of oil behind, let the pan cool for a few minutes, rewipe with a fresh paper towel thoroughly and you're ready to cook: you've just pre-seasoned your pan and it won't give you the "first cook scorch" that others complain of. I've NEVER had that happen, and have been cooking for decades with many materials. As with any other material, you have to learn to treat and use it right and it will treat you right!

My first dish was a flash-pan-fry: normally not a good first choice, but I wanted to see if it could do the job of a wok, and for the most part, it can. The graduation in temp up the sides is different than a traditional wok, which is also normally thin steel or iron, btw. The speed of this pan is excellent, and if you keep the food moving, you won't need much oil. The veggies came out very bright, hot and crisp, and I did not need to add liquid until the very end to make the sauce and turn the food in it. Very easy cleanup, too, even though this was a sweet/hot glaze type sauce. The sugars did not burn or scorch and the pan looked the same after the very easy cleanup (soak for a few minutes in hot water, use a nylon scrunch to clean and done).

If you soak bare-metal pans that are seasoned properly in plain hot water, use a nylon scrubby/scrunch to clean, you'll never need soap, and oils will build up just enough to create a nonstick finish that is as good as teflon. In fact, after a dozen or so times, the metal will still be bright, not dirty, and you'll be able to do sliding fried eggs... on a pretty low temp. The key is to keep the food moving. That is SO important!

To avoid spotting, try not to handle the exterior if your hands are oily, and always hand dry bright stainless pans in and out, unless you don't care about the spotting. Use a normal sponge on the exterior, a nylon scrunch if you spill over and must, and it will stay glossy.

This pan has so far made soup, pasta sauces, boiled pasta, steamed (with a generic small insert), and pulled off a pretty decent risotto the first time I tried in it. It also made very good egg-foo-yung style small, thick omelettes. I don't eat meat, so I haven't tried that, but based on performance with with eggs, it should sear small cuts or cubed meats very nicely, allowing you to push done pieces to the cooler sides while the rest gets done. I have yet to dare to try doing a pan fry of tofu in it, though it did a shallow fry of tofu fine.

Tofu is nature's stickum food: it sticks even to teflon coatings if you don't keep it moving and oiled. I'll let the pan season more and try. I'm not into sweets, but I suspect that this would handle making pan-style confections pretty well.

I like it, and I can see this and the small chef's pan with a small fry becoming my most used pans for personal meals. It's not a substitute for a large saute or fry, and it's not quite a big dutch oven, because it's only 3 qt and frankly, shaped wrong for some of the dishes that work in a dutch oven, but for some stews or small pan roasts, I bet it will do a great job at a lower, less destructive temp, keeping food moister and brighter looking with more intact nutrition.

For under $30, shipped, if you are a Prime member, it's a great pan, and for a decent sized family, might be worth having a couple of them!

Oh, diameter is a very manageable 10", so it's not a stovetop hog!

Ginsu 04817 International Traditions 14-Piece Knife Set with Block Review

Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Suddenly, I feel like cooking again. Chopping onions, dicing carrots, making perfect juliennes with red peppers and mincing the garlic fine for my famous (!) vegetable medley is...effortless. All because of these knives. Ooh they are sharp! So be careful or you may end cutting yourself!

I love the fact that the knives are sharp right out the box. Many people swear by their forged knife blades but that makes the knives heavier. I have another set from Pinzon (Amazon's brand) and yet another from Cuisinart that I barely use as they are heavier and not as sharp as these knives. I think stamped blades are great as they are lighter and thinner like these Ginsu knives. If you cut vegetables more than meat then you need knives like these. For meat you need heavier blades with more balance and "brute force". For slicing a tomato so fine that you can see through it you need a Ginsu. With a Ginsu in your hand you'll end up sculpting roses from your radishes!

Update 11/5/08: I have been using these knives for 1.5 years now. They're still doing fine and are still very sharp. I regularly throw them in the dishwasher and they have not shown any signs of rusting. I love these knives and miss them if I am cooking somewhere else. I use the steak knives as everyday knives for slicing veggies and they work very well. If I ever purchase another set I will go with Ginsu again.

Update: 8/27/2013: Still using these knives after 6 years. Still going strong and are pretty sharp. Although we took to using some as box cutters and for other reasons and lost a few of the steak knives. Luckily, Amazon sells steak knives separately in packs of 4 Ginsu Essential Series 4-Piece 4.5-Inch Stainless Steel Steak Knife Set with Triple Riveted Polymer Handles 4805 so I ordered more.

We needed some new knives, but I couldn't see spending hundreds of $$$.

Yes, these are at the lower end and there are undoubtedly much better (and more expensive) sets out there.

But these feel OK, are very sharp (as other reviewers reported), seem to be sufficiently sturdy, and have ably carried out the various mundane tasks we've put them to.

For $24.99, what a value!!!

--------------------------------------

Update 11/21/08: We've had these 2 years now. The very sharp edges have gone, but the steak knives still are OK cutting, not great. But, I never sharpen them. I don't like the long thin knife (it's not serrated, so not a bread knife): the blade isn't stiff enough. (Hey, we're talking less than $30 for the set!) I really don't use the others.

I liked the steak knives so well that I ordered a second set of just them. It's a little weird at first doing paring with a serrated blade, but then you get used to it.

I'm still very pleased with the purchase overall and regard it, even as the price has increased a few dollars, as a true bargain.

Best Deals for Ginsu 04817 International Traditions 14-Piece Knife Set with Block

We bought this set 2 months back after reviewing them on Amazon. Since this is our first knife set I can not really compare with other name brand products in the market. But these were cheapest among the lot, and we are very pleased with their initial quality. As mentioned by other reviewers they are very very sharp, and easily cut through straight. The blades are thick and the handles look solid. We always wash/dry them by hand right after the use and never put them in dishwasher. We have not seen a single rust spot or any discoloration of handles. I will definitely buy more of these to gift friends and family.

Update on Sept 30, 2007:

After 6 months of use, I still stand by my review. The sharpness is intact and there are no rust spots at all. Very pleased with the quality and super low price. I regret not picking more of these from Sears Clearance, where I bought them for less than $20.

Update on Nov 26, 2010:

Just wanted to give a quick update that these knives are still performing great.

Sept 28, 2011:

Still going strong. No issues. No rust. the two knives that we use every single day, have lost some of their sharpness, but they still have few more years left in them.

Honest reviews on Ginsu 04817 International Traditions 14-Piece Knife Set with Block

If you are on a budget but need good sharp knives to last you for a little while...these are great! They are sharp and they do their job well. But be warned, these do rust after about 8 months if you aren't careful. I suggest washing after every time you use them and don't put them in the dishwasher to make them last longer. Other than that, they are sharp enough for general kitchen cutting,

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Ginsu 04817 International Traditions 14-Piece Knife Set with Block

Okay, so we'll be honest here... These aren't the BEST knives ever. They aren't nearly as heavy and solid feeling as some might like.. but for this price you absolutely cannot get a better knife. I bought this set as a gift for someone who has a bit of a love-affair with "sharp knives"... and he was absolutely 100% pleased with this set. They are incredibly sharp and easy to manage. Best knives ever? Of course not-but do they get the job done (meaning, do they CUT well?) absolutely yes!

As a side note-in response to those who are complaining about rust spots-that is what happens when you put knives in a dish washer. All knives should always be washed BY HAND and dried immidiately (regardless of what the packaging says!) Complaining about rust spots after having put them into a DISHWASHER is like complaining about ruining your silk shirt after putting it into the washing machine. With proper care, these knives will not disapoint someone looking for a good, sharp everyday kitchen knife.

This is a foundation set of high quality cookware, suitable for any serious home cook. With stainless steel exteriors over aluminum cores, the pots distribute heat evenly, yet the cooking surfaces are non-reactive. While they do not have non-stick coatings, when used as directed (preheating oil in the pans before adding food to be fried), food usually doesn't stick to the pans, and you certainly don't have to worry about Teflon flaking off into your food. The stainless steel surfaces are also easy to clean.

If you are used to cheaper cookware, there are a few differences with these pots that you will need to get used to. First, since the pots are heavier than single-layer pots, the balance point for pouring a pot with one hand is right up against the pot itself, rather than out along the handle. And since the handles are solid steel, that means you will definitely need to use a pot holder for pouring, although you can usually touch the handles bare handed if you're simply moving the pots around on the stove. Also, the handles for the lids are steel, so you need to use a pot holder just to lift a lid (and remind visitors to do the same, so that they don't burn their hands). While the cookware is made in the Canonsburg, PA, the lids are marked "Made in China."

I was reluctant to give up my worn out non-stick pots and pans, but due to potential health issues associated with them, I bought the All-Clad 10 piece cookware. Surprisingly this cookware is very easy to clean. For the tougher jobs, a little pre-soak is all that is needed. Although a little pricey, these pots and pans cook food evenly and fast. They are heavy, and the handles will get hot so pot holders will be necessary. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I would love to have attended the Culinary Institute of America. However, that didn't happen. So, the next best thing was to try one of their sauce pans. It was more expensive than most similar pans but, worth every cent. It has perfect balance, weight and heat distribution. After using this saucepan I now plan to replace most of my cooking pots and pans with CIA products (I am also planning on winning the lottery). If you love to cook you will love this saucepan.

I ordered this for my three kids. We love roasting smores on a campfire but do not get to do that too often. When I saw the low Amazon price, I had my doubts. I was still so excited to try this out. It came in and the kids and I tried it for dessert. It was just as easy as promised. It took only 30 seconds to cook the marshmallows evenly and perfectly. The chocolate doesn't really start melting until you take it out of the microwave which is good. It is less messy that way.

I could not recommend this enough. We use ours very regularly. I have already bought three more as Christmas gifts. Wonderful, simple, inexpensive. What more could you ask for? Go get your own!!

Honest reviews on Progressive International GMMC-68 Microwavable S'Mores Maker

I got this as a joke gift (for my pregnancy craving of s'mores) and it actually works well. The plastic arms hold the crackers in place, and all of the s'more was evenly melted--with the crackers still crisp. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 since it's really not much faster than making a s'more over a burner or fire. Still, the product does what it promises and makes a great s'more.

It seems like a silly thing but having the water provide steam and the arms tamp down the smore makes it neat and keeps it from burning. No muss no fuss and although it's not as cool as roasting marshmallows over a fire, it makes smores a regular treat. We use this a lot for an easy treat or dessert!

After I ordered this griddle from Amazon, I read reviews of Emeril cookware, and was really scared. It seems the bottom of pans *melt*! It was too late to cancel my order (in this case Amazon sent my order through immediately), so when the griddle arrived, I tried it out right away. It worked great and was totally non-stick.

I concluded that the griddles are made differently than the pans, since they're one layer of anodized metal and don't melt like the pans do which have layers of different metals on the bottom. So no one needs to avoid buying this griddle. I compared the quality with griddles at Walmart, and it's heavier and of better quality. The griddle heats up fast and cooked my pancakes quickly, so there's no need to use high heat for cooking.

The instructions that came with the griddle did warn against melting aluminium, but I doubt that those instructions apply to the hard anodized griddles. Perhaps because of poor reviews of Emeril cookware, this griddle was heavily discounted, so the price was excellent, about 50 percent off list price.

I did some research and found the quote below about anodizing, so there's no worry about high heat with this griddle:

"Hard anodizing produces an extremely durable pan that has twice the hardness of stainless steel. This cookware has an extremely long lifespan and can resist abrasion and corrosion. The surface will not chip or peel and it can handle extremely high heat levels without damage to the finish."

I have several pieces from this line that were purchased over the past few years and have not been disappointed in any of them. This piece is so light weight. It slides all over my cook top. Not good for baby-on-the-hip, one-handed cooking. Today I was making pancakes on this griddle and realized is had warped. I've had the pan since December and have not put it in the dishwasher. So I'm not sure why it warped. Anyway, disappointed in this piece...

My Wife and I received this "griddle" for a wedding gift. We had to return it because of warping....

I cook eggs every morning so I used this pan only as my "egg" pan. It survived the first 30 days of cooking eggs. Then it slowly started to warp. It has warped a 1/4" high in the middle. Returning it to Macy's was no problem. BUT now...Macy's stopped carrying it.

I CONTACTED CUSTOMER SUPPORT TWICE to get a required RMA #....So far, it's been two weeks and I haven't heard back from them.

Emerilware should be Illegal....It's simply ripping off the consumer.

Honest reviews on Emeril by All-Clad E9191364 Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Inch Square

This is the second square griddle I've owned thus far, the first being an Anolon one which has lost all of its non stick properties and is warped(bowed out in the center area). This one seems to be going the way of the first. The non stick properties are ok so far (as is with most non sticks in the first six months of use), but the originally flat surface has "bloated" up in the center to the point where liquid will run to the sides and cooking pancakes and sunnyside up eggs has become a bit tricky. Might be my fault(or might not be?) as I used it a few times on med-high heat on the gas range to sear meat, but still disappointing for it to warp so.

Also on a purely cosmetic note, the pan looks really cheap(to where I wouldn't have paid its price if I saw it on a store shelf). The handle in Amazon's picture looks shiny(like 18/8 stainless) but in reality it has a dull stamped metal look to it(because it is:). Sure it doesn't affect the cooking but it also doesn't add to buyer satisfaction.

I don't think it's an especially great deal at it's current $25 price.

While I really liked this fry pan initially, I am disappointed with the anodized finish on it. I have had it now for about 2 years and the finish has not held up. I would like to find a non-stick finish that holds up.

I just found a fry pan, which was Anolan Advanced. I have enjoyed using it so far. The Emeril fry pan went in the garbage. I did find out that it is Martha Stewart who put out this piece of junk fry pan... I thought it was Emeril.

I own other Tramontina products and heavily depend on the quality and dependability of this brand. I have owned other lesser quality products and paid premium price for them in the past. Tramontina is the real deal. You do get more than what you pay for with these products. Properly maintained they will most likely last you a life time. This is my brand of choice ! You can't go wrong...

This is our 4th Tramontina product. Three are skillets of varying size and all well worth the money. I did warp the bottom of one by overheating it. My fault.

This 5.5 qt. was purchased at Costco. It came with the clear lid and a third piece that is a splash screen. Paid $30, not 70 or more.

These are enticing the way you toss in bread with cheese, and a few embellishments all so effortlessly. The pocket keeps in warmth from the bread to evenly heat what ever you want for a sandwich. This provides you with getting a grilled consistency and the option for adding variation to the cheese and flavoring. I think the great part is keeping the toaster clean, and also getting the full serving out just like the time before.

I received this from Boska and Culture Magazine to try. I found that my bread slices were too big for the bag, so I had to cut the bread to fit inside the bag. And my original sandwich was too thick to fit into my toaster, which may be my toaster's problem, not the toasts bags fault. So I took some ingredients out, leaving just a thin layer of cheese. It turned out OK, but I like a heftier sandwich.

Picked these up after hearing about them from a friend, there are many types of these bags out there, these were the best for the price I could find on Amazon.

The bags are a very thin material, treat them carefully, while it doesn't seem like the bag itself will rip, the seams seem pretty weak.

The bags aren't very large, I suspect this is to keep the material from hitting the heating elements in your toaster, but don't expect to put a thick sandwich into them either, not without squishing it down first. Standard sliced bread, a few pieces of cheese and maybe one or two things like tomato slices and bacon, that's all you're going to fit into the bag.

They do protect my sandwiches from being burnt and leave a nice brown on them. Can get messy on the bottom if your cheese drips. Washes out with plain soap and water, just be gentle with them. Drying can be difficult as the bags want to close, have to prop them open on the rack.

A good idea and product, I'll keep using them.

Really convenient way to make a grilled cheese without the clean-up. You can even add other ingredients in-between the bread and cheese (I put apple slices, Yum!) and the bag holds everything together while melting the cheese and toasting the bread evenly. I use a toaster oven and it keeps the cheese from making a mess dripping everywhere. The best thing about this product was how I could slide the bread and cheese into the toastabag, then slide the bag into a plastic sandwich bag which I put in my lunchbox, and just pop the toastabag into the toaster at work and have an ooey-gooey grilled cheese sandwich in a matter of minutes! I do kinda wish they came in different sizes or shapes, as some of the breads I eat are too cumbersome for the toastabags.

This was a free product which I received from Boska. When I saw the little bags my first thought was that they were some kind of a bad joke! That was before I tried one. My sandwich was fantastic and the bags worked as described even in my vintage Sunbeam automatic two slot toaster.

However, getting the buttered bread into the bag proved to be a bit of a challenge. The bags could use gusseted (expandable) sides and bottom to allow a more properly shaped opening for your sandwich. Still these are worth a try and a great conversation starter.

I was so excited to get this since it was so affordable, I thought! But you get what you pay for! This smelled like enamel, so I don't know what type they use. It didn't smell completely safe, though! It looks like only one layer of enamel and you can see the metal through it with imperfections in the iron peaking though. The edges are rough and uneven. I bought one 11" Lodge enamel pan for about the same price as this and it was worth that and more! The Lodge has excellent quality!

I bought this thinking it would be safer than the typical Teflon pan and easier to clean than a cast iron but after a month it literally exploded on the stove and I had to shove my daughter out of the kitchen to keep her from getting hit by the pieces.

I tried to return it but Amazon will not accept it back because it's been more than 30 days. I feel completely cheated. This was not only bad quality because it exploded but it was clearly cheaply made as it was very light (not like a cast iron pan should be) so I suspect there is very little cast iron in it at all.

DO NOT PURCHASE THISthe Lodge cookware, it may be more expensive at first but since I'll have to buy Lodgeware now to replace this hunk of junk I'm very sorry I didn't just buy it in the first place.

I purchased these pans about a week ago, and I've been making scrambled eggs in the largest one every single day since I bought them. This morning I put the eggs in like normal and walked over to the sink to grab a cutting board; thank goodness I turned away because I heard a LOUD POP and then another LOUD POP. I jumped out of my skin. The enamel had exploded off quite violently, and there was enamel shrapnel all over the stovetop and contaminating all of my food. I bought these pans to get away from using toxic Teflon but exploding enamel is hardly safer.

Please be aware that the size shown on this site includes the handle -so the pans' actually usable space is much, much smaller.

I purchased these in 2008 and one of the skillets exploded on the first use. There were tiny shards of glass all over my kitchen and in our dinner. I tried to file a safety hazard report with Amazon, but couldn't make it through all the legal disclosures. I wasn't able to return them as I waited longer than 30 days to use them. We threw them in the trash. I have several Lodge and Le Creuset enameled pans that I have used for years without any problems. I saw these today while searching for something else. I'm surprised they are still being sold. Please don't buy these.

very bad metal quality. Easy oxidize with white patina after every wash. First few grounded peaces always have black color.

Not worth buying.

Worked well first 3 times. On the 4th broke (goes in reverse, but not forward). Turns out 5 weeks old and already out of warranty. I never heard of 1 months warranty on new products before. Found stories of people shipping defective products to them at great expense ($20+) and never getting anything or even hearing back.

Honest reviews on West Bend Dba/Focus Electrics 4500 Electric Meat Grinder

My wife and I bought this model several years ago, and it worked fine the first time we used it. She ground about sixteen pounds of venison into hamburger. It took all day, but it worked.

Now, some years later, I attempted to make more venison hamburger from this seasons catch. It did not go well.

After four pounds made, the grinder blade suddenly stopped turning while at the same time there was the unmistakable, loud(er) sound of grinding gears from inside the unit.

I must confess that I did not realize how lightly constructed the unit was. My wife ordered the unit and I had never handled it until today. When I did, I said to myself, "This plastic thing is too light. It can't be very strong inside."

I am a mechanic and old enough to know that light things usually are not very strong. I was right about this one.

It is not worth the low price for this unit. Get one with good reviews.

grinds well, easy to clean. After one year (about 8 uses) the on/off switch broke. Runs loud.
