The idea is a good one: a stainless steel pot for cooking, plus a bamboo sheath to use as a cover when serving from a hot/cold pan, plus independent use of the sheath as a bamboo serving bowl. The bamboo bowl itself is fine, and the stainless steel 3.8 qt. pot with perky glass lid seems fine too.

But... the sheath doesn't quite fit properly. The handles of the steel pot are necessarily attached under the pot's rim, meaning that they stick down lower than the rim itself. Yet the rim of the bamboo bowl is perfectly even, without indentations into which the pot's handles could slide. So the pot touches the bowl only by its handles when it's nestled inside the bowl, leaving the rest of the rim between the handles free-floating over the rim of the bamboo bowl. This means the steel pot can tip a little bit either forward or backward -a bit disconcerting when trying to move the filled combo or scooping out food.

Second, the handles on the pot stick out a very long way beyond the bamboo sheath. So, if the pot was really, really hot when you put it into the sheath, it would be awfully easy to knock your hands against those still hot handles by mistake when trying to serve yourself, pass the item to someone else, or carry it from stove to table. Especially given the potential for the pot to tip inside the sheath (see previous paragraph)!

Third, because there are no handles on the sheath, it's not easy to pick up the filled pot/sheath combo. You have to compress your hands tightly against opposite sides of the bamboo (CAREFUL not to burn them on the pot's handles!), raise the combo a little, and then slide your hand under the bottom of the bamboo bowl for a better grip if you want to pass the dish around the table or take it to a potluck. Of course you then need to reverse the procedure to put it back down. So to me the sheath seems best as a sort of fancy trivet, already placed on a buffet, to which you bring the hot (or cold) pot for insertion, but which you never move when full of food. It does have some additional insulating properties that way, of course, but the combination doesn't really work for me if you ever need to move it full of food.

This combo was available a couple of weeks ago at an exceptionally attractive price, so I was happy to try it out. I originally thought I might want to get a second one, but I don't think I would now, even at that original price (which is no longer available).

But I'm a huge fan of Cat Cora's food line available from Amazon, especially the tapenades. Try Cat Cora Gaea Green Olive Tapenade, 3.5-Ounce Jars (Pack of 6) or Cat Cora's Kitchen by Gaea Sundried Tomatoes Tapenade, 3.5-Ounce Jars (Pack of 6), for example -both are stunning. She has several other flavors which are probably just as good, too. I keep at least the green olive and the sundried tomatoes versions stocked in the pantry at all times, both for use by themselves as dips or sandwich spreads, and as ingredients (there are recipes printed inside the cardboard sleeves, and the stuffed mushrooms made from the Sundried Tomatoes are world class!!). They're perfect as last-minute appetizers with crackers or a good bread and have made many, many guests of mine incredibly happy! :)

Bought them all: 1.5 (from another site-not sure why this pot is more expensive than the 2.5 qt), 2.5 (still waiting for this one as this is part of my order is fulfilled by another source), 3.8, 4.9 & 5.9; I love all things bamboo-and while trivets are a lot cheaper, the bowls are a nice touch.

I almost did not buy these as the one reviewer left some pretty negative feedback. The only reason I would have taken .5 star away-this should be offered as a set and not just have to be bought pot-by-pot, but that is not an option. Saw these on another website, did some searching and found them here at fairly the best price-except on three of the four pots, I had to pay sales taxes.

1. Shipping: arrived quickly

2. Packing-very well packaged no damage to the outer box

3. Unpacked, stacked-to check how well they could be stored. The bamboo bowls fit into each other is very tight and might take some work to get back apart. No issues with the pots. With the pot in its serving bowl, there is a little wiggle, but nothing of the sort the other reviewer conjured in my mind. The pots fit into the bowls fairly well. I would not like the bowls to have handles, unless they were made for the pots' handles to fit into also. That would help with carrying. However, you can get around that by placing the bowls on the table, then carrying the pots out of the kitchen afterward.

4. Everything is very well made; I did not find any sharp edges or blemishes. Bottoms are flat. No warps.

5. Washed and dried-so far no issues

6. -AND cooked. I had picked up lots of fresh veggies from our local farmers market-okra, yellow squash, zucchini, tomatoes, onions-then some broth, last some polenta to thicken it. Yum.

7. The pot's handles only warmed slightly

8. Handle on the lid did get fairly hot-not hot enough to burn, but hot enough to not hold comfortably.

9. I like these sizes. and they work very well on my glass top range.

I have not bought a set of pots in about 15 years. My other pots are still good (an enamel set I have had for over 20 years, several cast iron pieces and a calphalon set) All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and now with the weather cooling off, I look forward to lots of good stews and soups. Several of you have blasted Pyrex concerning their "shatter" problem and stating they would now be switching to Anchor Hocking.

I suggest you read this first, particularly paragraph 5.I will repeat the relevant paragraph.....

Corning currently licenses the use of the Pyrex brand name to World Kitchen LLC for sale in the United States, having sold its Pyrex cookware manufacturing to Borden KKR in 1997. The other main competitor in this field is Anchor Hocking Glass Co., which has made a similar soda lime silicate glass product for over 60 years. Both World Kitchen and Anchor Hocking now use the soda lime silicate glass instead of the original Pyrex borosilicate glass composition."

I read another article on MSNBC less than 2 weeks ago that devoted time to a discussion of the "instructions" for using this glass cookware and just how easy it is for those who fail to heed these instructions to end up with shattered glass.

I am not suggesting that all instances of shattered glass are user error but I personally know people who have misused this cookware and had it explode. The most common problem is attempting to roast a chicken or other meat by adding NO or insufficient liquid to the cookware. If the bottom of the cookware becomes dry, yes, it could explode. Glass cookware is not the same as a roasting pan.

One should either heed the instructions carefully or should consider not buying glass cookware at all. It is obvious our glass cookware, Pyrex or A-H, is not the same as years ago and the rules have changed.

I was diffident about making this purchase, considering some of the negative reviews about the so called "new Pyrex" and its propensity for breakage, or as some people so graphically described it, explosions. Eventually though, it was the competitive price point, the covers, the sizes, and of course, the brand that made me risk it.

And I'm glad I did. I've been using it for a solid month or so now, and pretty frequently at that. No breakage, no damage, no cracking, no overheating, no destroyed meals or lacerated body parts. Just good, evenly heated, food. And a nice looking cooking utensil.

About the covers not fitting, again, something I did not experience. Maybe I got lucky, I like to hope that happens some times, but if my experience were any indication, it might be worth taking the risk. Shipped quickly and in perfect condition.

P.S: I hope I haven't jinxed it.

Purchased this two months ago. Baked with it twice. But today, while cooking a chicken in a conventional oven the glass baking dish exploded into many pieces. What a shock. My mother used Pyrex and never had this happen. Just grateful it didn't explode around the kids. After this happened, found it online as a common occurrence. Pyrex should not be able to sell their exploding bakewear to unsuspecting consumers.

Followup: Pyrex has a designated hotline taking phone calls from distressed customers. The person is nice, compassionate and sent me extra items besides replacing the dish. However,

I don't think there should be ANYTHING in our kitchen that could shatter glass everywhere without warning and possibly injure someone. They have known about this for a long time.

I was quite pleased when I came across this two pack. I've yet to be disappointed by the quality of Pyrex products and I felt that being able to purchase two casserole dishes for under $20 was a nice deal. One thing that initially put me off about them was the unusual design of the plastic lid, but after one use with the 3qt oblong made me realize that it does a good job of what it was designed for. Keeping things in. They do tend to sit fairly close to the top of the casserole, if you are making something that fills the dish and is particularly messy, you may want to keep that in mind. In general, I'm happy with the purchase.

First use of this "Pyrex" 3 Qt Oblong purchased through Amazon involved preparation of a simple dish of scalloped potato with pork chops. The "handle" section of the dish made it too large for the 3 quart oblong to fit in my large microwave. Had to use an old Pyrex 3 quart dish to do the microwave cooking. Put the 2 quart in the pre-heated oven on bake at 375 degrees bake the chops and finish off the meal preparation. At approximately 5 minutes, the sound from the oven, a small explosion, told us all was not well. We ended up with a chunky glass scalloped potato mix coating the racks and interior surfaces of the oven. My old Pyrex dishes and bowls have been used in the same manner with never a hitch. Perhaps I mis-understood and this "Pyrex" product is just an expensive substitute for tupperware and intended for storage use in the refrigerator only!

I was gifted this tea pot from my mom a couple years ago. It was a Gevalia promotion that she had gotten with tea. I used it *DAILY* for a couple years.

Pros:

Water boils quickly.

Whistle is just right, not too loud or too quiet.

It looks nice enough to be left out all the time.

Tips: Drain the water completely. Leaving water in it for a long time can make it rust. Don't go above medium heat and you will lengthen the life of this tea pot.

I accidently set my too hot tea pot on a cheap trivet and melted the trivet to the bottom. I searched high an low, and finally found that Amazon carried this one. So I purchased it hoping it would be the exact same one, and it is! It still has the great quality and quick boil time. I've been using this one, again daily, for a couple of months and it is still in perfect condition!

I can't emphasize enough Buyer Beware! Beware of most off-brands these days, even those touting "stainless".

Because they're sinFULLy stainFULL rather than stainless.

This kettle developed rust stains on the inside base corners, after a couple years of use. By then it was too late to return it to a local store. You better believe, I was furious at the ripoff.

Another off-brand example of stainFULL is the "Chefman" electric kettle. Just read some of the reviews and see. I'm so thankful to those reviewers for bringing it to my attention, since they helped me avoid a repeat-letdown of my CreativeHome experience.

Sorry, but rust is NOT supposed to happen to stainless steel! Nor should you be required to swab it down! After all, I have another stainless kettle by a well-known brand (complete with GH seal of approval) which really had alot of use, yet never developed rust stains despite not "babysitting" it.

Yeah, I use the term babysit because it reminds me of diapering a baby. So if you feel like owning kettles which you need to diaper every so often, you'll find that both Creative & Chefman (and no doubt lots more imported junk) meet your requirements.

Milton is a good enough name in india when it comes to casseroles...but unlike other miltons that my mom used to use this one didnt have a good finish...BUt the thermal insulation in the product is great!...I have managed to make curds in it ..in winter..by pouring wamn milk and a spoon of danone...to put it to test...considering it made the curds in 6-8 hours...i think it maintained the termperature good enough. rest i used it for regular dinners mainly in winters as my foods cools down really fast...functionally..the product works for me..only if the finish of the black trim was better ..i would have given it 5 stars...its all quite pricey with the shipping...53$..so 1 star out for that too.

Excellent Dishes. I haven't tried trying to keep anything cold, but for keeping food HOT these are wonderful. Great for transporting food, or when you get some parts of the meal ready quicker than others or when you are going to have a delay.

I have not noticed any chipping, but have not had the set long.

Based on the picture and the description of "stainless steel" casserole, I expected this to be a bit more substantial. It looks and feels like a lightweight, plastic container.

I used it this weekend as an insulator to make yogurt (the purpose for which I bought it) and it worked fine, so it did maintain the temperature.

The main problem I have with it is that the lid is very hard to lock into place and once locked, it very hard to get back out. I am not sure if mine is just a dud, or if this model just has a poorly fitting lid-lock. None of the other reviews mentioned a problem with the lid locking into place, so maybe it is just mine.

I can't say enough about this product! These insulated servers really work! I use my set almost every day at dinnertime! They really do keep foods hot or cold for hours! I can fix one dish for a meal ahead of the rest and just put it in my insulated server and I don't have to worry about keeping it nice and hot! I have even used them when I have to take a dish for a holiday or "get together". I never have to reheat or refrigerate the contents. These are definitely well worth the money!

For some reason the Amazon page doesn't give the actual height of the sides once its out of the box; it is about 2 7/8" if you want to know. I bought this to replace an All-Clad Petite Rosti pan. To me this is the better pan hands down.

Here's why. (1) This pan is actually clad, with stainless steel surrounding an interior aluminum core. The All-Clad pan does not have the aluminum center. So I expect this one to conduct heat better. (2) This pan is certainly is a lot lighter (I compared the weight before I gave the old one to Goodwill). I think its lighter because it has the aluminum core. (3) The bottom is pretty flat. The bottom of the All-Clad is kind of convex, which makes it harder to use over an electric burner or flat stovetop. And it is hard to make gravy in the All-Clad since the juices you're cooking down roll to the sides, but the flat bottom of this pan makes it a snap. (4) Both pans include a roasting rack, but this one does not have the two bars across the bottom that come on the All-Clad so it is much easier to clean. I have not seen a problem holding chickens in it even though the two bars are not present. (5) This pan is significantly less expensive, at least here on Amazon.

This is a great, sturdy roaster that also browns food very evenly. My only complaint would be that it is a little on the small size. I can't knock points off for that, since I knew it was only 14 inches when I bought it, but I guess I didn't realize just how small that would be when actually using it. If you're looking for a heavy-duty roaster that you can use for chickens or smaller turkeys, then this is a great buy for a Tri-Ply pan. But if you're looking to roast monstrous birds for special occasions, then I would suggest something larger.

I bought this to replace a large non-stick roaster that was peeling and no longer safe to use for making gravy from the fond in the bottom of the pan. I wanted a tri-ply roaster this time that would give me more even heat when making gravy, and I wanted a smaller one that would not be overwhelmingly large for roasting a chicken. Because it's just my wife and I, we usually cook a 12-14 pound turkey on holidays, so this seemed like a good choice. Mostly it was.

I used the pan for the first time for our Christmas turkey, and (other than the rack thing below) it performed admirably. The pan itself is sturdy and of high quality. It's not as heavy and some top-end tri-clad skillets, but it feels good and solid, and it handles well.

The only thing I really dislike about the pan is that the rack sits freely in the bottom of the pan without anything to keep it from sliding around. Our old one had a rack that laid onto four 'knobs' on the ends, securing it completely. This one takes great care, when sliding it into and out of the oven, to keep the rack from sliding to the side. Still, as I look carefully at the images of other high-end roasters, it seems like they all do that, so I guess that's just how it is now.

People considering this should be very conscious of the size and how it will meet their needs. The box the pan comes in says it will hold up to an 18-pound turkey. That's ridiculous; it wouldn't come close. Our turkey was 14.2 pounds and it just barely fit. By just barely, I mean that there was only about 1/4-inch left on all four sides. Combined with the insecure rack, it took some fiddling each time I basted it to keep the rack in the right place. Even then, I had to be very careful with the basting. If I angled the baster toward the back side, the juices would shoot off the turkey, past the edge of the pan. I had to drizzle it straight down from the top. Unless my turkey was mislabeled, I would say you should consider this for 14 pounds max. I'm not complaining about the size; it really meets my needs well. I just wanted to make clear what you're getting.

Overall, I really like this pan. It performed superbly on the stove top and it cleaned up nicely. The inside bottom is (was) mirror-shiny, and so pretty out of the box, but the whisk I used for the gravy pretty much took care of that. That doesn't worry me, though, as pans are tools, meant to be used. A recommendation is always relative to price, so mine is this. I bought it on sale via Amazon just before Christmas in the high two-digits and I would give it a high recommendation at that price for someone looking for a smaller pan. As I write this, it's already back to its normal price about 50% higher, and I think that's more than its worth. For that price, I would instead go with the larger, but much more affordable Cuisinart MCP117-16BR MultiClad Pro Stainless 16-Inch Rectangular Roaster with Rack.

I love Amazon warehouse deals. This lovely roaster was on discount because it was marked used. I bought it without much thought and when I received it, I found it to be brand new! Excellent choice! I love that it is tri-ply for even heating and stainless steel which is healthier than non-stick. I like that the handles are riveted on. The rack and lifters are a cool addition to the roaster. I saw that episode of America's Test Kitchen where this one was the highest rated. Awesome! I really had contemplated paying way more than what I did for a roaster of this caliber. I own this pan in the 8" and just love it. I was looking for a good quality egg pan and this is it! I use it everyday. All the teflon on my other pans eventually peeled up and I was afraid we were eating the product! I tried other types of pan, but my eggs always stuck. I went down to the outlet and found this pan. Yes, it was pricey but if I never have to buy another egg pan...I'm happy.The very first time I used it for my eggs, they did seem to stick a bit and I started to get discouraged...don't. The pan will season itself with each cooking. By just the third time of egg cooking... no sticking what so ever! The pan has a nice beefy weight feel to it without being heavy and looks beautiful. I could not be without this pan anymore. Le Creuset continues to make high quality products and you will not be disappointed with their non stick pans.

Update: I did purchase the 12" too. Needed more room for cooking eggs for more than one person. Just as perfect as the 8" no sticking what so ever even with the first use on this pan. Definitely my favorite pans. You will not be disappointed if your looking for a superior non stick.

We just purchased this pan because we liked the idea that the exterior is non-stick as well as the interior. We have used their enameled cookware in the past and found it very difficult to keep the enamel clean. This one may not be as pretty but it sure should be a year from now. In addition, the pan comes with a 10 year warranty for the cook surface. It also has an extra thick flat bottom which is great for our flat range top.

I can't believe this pan only cost me $40. After spending the last two years complaining about my All Clad pans loosing their non-stick quality, I couldn't take it anymore.

I found this pan on Amazon and ordered it. It came yesterday and I just used it for the first time this morning. I cooked two eggs in the pan and couldn't believe it. Not only did they NOT stick, they almost flew out of the pan when I picked it up and made a swirling motion. I flipped the eggs like a pancake!!

I own a few Le Creuset pots and have been very pleased. This is my first hard anodized pan from them. I have owned a full set of All Clad LTD for many years. As soon as I finish this review I will be ordering a 12" pan.

I bought these hoping they could be used as measuring spoons. They're what came up when I did a search for "bamboo measuring spoons." I wanted a spoon set where each spoon was carved from a single piece of bamboo -not bamboo pieces spliced together or bamboo fibers fused to a spoon shape with mystery adhesive. This set came closest to what I was looking for.

However they are odd sizes. I tried to measure their capacity using water and a stainless measuring spoon set.

The small one is not quite 2 teaspoons,

the large one is not quite 2 tablespoons,

and the middle one is slightly less than not quite a tablespoon and a half.

It's possible that there is variation between sets too, so someone else might get spoons that hold more than or less than what mine do. They're probably close enough for rough measurements, though not ideal if you need precision.

As scoops, the main consideration is whether they fit in the container you're scooping from, so here are the measurements of my spoons (to the nearest notch on the ruler):

The small one is and 3 3/4" long and 1 13/16" wide. (9.6 cm x 4.7 cm)

The middle one is 4 9/16" long and 2 7/16" wide. (11.4 cm x 6.1 cm)

The large one is 5 5/16" long and 2 11/16" wide. (13.4 cm x 6.8 cm)

The only thing that might make these better is some note of how much they actually hold. I am using them to scoop out dry foods from glass storage jars. They are classy and pretty when kept in my utensil crock, and match my bamboo spoons, spatulas, and othe utensils well.

I've often been annoyed with double boilers, because the melted chocolate or what have you ends up trapped in the ridges of the top pot. This product is amazing. It is completely seamless which makes transferring simple. Furthermore because the water is boiled in the contained unit when you remove the item from the heat you can allow it to sit, without the liquid cooling. Which is genius.

Seriously I will never ever ever buy another double boiler again.

The only issue is that the company's shipping practices are awful and they don't pad the box, which means the first one of these I received had a broken handled!

I filled this Orka steamer up to the top with broccoli, popped it in the microwave, and in four minutes I had perfectly steamed broccoli. Looked and tasted great. I buy broccoli in big warehouse-size bags. I often ended up with a too-big pot of overcooked bland unappetizing broccoli. Tonight, Wow! I am a believer! This little Orka is a wonderful time saver, AND a food saver if you previously tried to save time by cooking a big batch of something which quickly lost its appeal. All I had to go was rinse some broccoli, snip away the thick end stalks, pull off the smaller florets and drop them into my Orka, and in a matter of minutes I had the best-tasting broccoli. And, the bonus no saucepan and lid to wash. How much better does it get? Oh, I can't forget to praise the manufacturer for making this in my favorite bright red color.

I have several Orka silicone products and they have become some of my kitchen favorites! I especially like to microwave fresh fish and vegetables. Actually, everything I've microwaved in my Orka steam cookers has been moist and delicious, even without adding liquids. They are truly amazing. Orkas are especially wonderful for warming up leftovers. My single friends especially like them because they are perfect for preparing small quick meals. I particularly like this square steam cooker because the bottom is reinforced and doesn't bend as much as the others. If you purchase any of the Orka products, I can assure you that you won't regret it. I purchased several for Christmas gifts and know they will be very much appreciated.

Before I bought this Orka steamer I was using tons of the Ziplock brand steam bags from the store. I'm so glad I found this thing, definitely cuts down on the money and waste! I've used it for fresh broccoli, asparagus, and brussel sprouts to great results. You can add olive oil or butter and any seasonings you want before sticking it in the microwave. Pretty much anything you'd normally steam in a pot on the stove can be steamed in this within a fraction of the time it would normally take. The silicone makes it really easy to clean (and mine, despite the many dishwasher loads it has endured, still looks brand new). Highly recommended!

I ordered this to replace my small veggie steamer but it's smaller than the one I was going to replace. But I ended up taking it to my office and I steam half a bag of frozen vegetables nearly every day to have with my lunch. It's perfect for that. But tried to put a whole bag of frozen broccoli and cauliflower in and it wasn't large enough to hold that much. Beware, the size given is overall measurements not the inside dimensions. It's a wonderful steamer, just too small for most uses.

This is the best T-fal I have yet!! This Professional set is by far thicker and heavier than any of my other T-fal. The pans are nonstick and the bottoms are stainless steel. They have heavy glass vented lids, and cushion grip handles. Even the pan handles are put on sturdier with 2 rivets as opposed to most pans that have one screw that comes lose. I would definitely buy this professional line again. I've tried many brands of cookware and I love T-fal the best. I'm hard on my cookware because I cook and bake and can continually, T-fal holds up. I buy T-fal singly and in sets to add to what I have... I love it!

10/16/11 I am continuing to use my professional T-fal set and as much as I have used them, they continue to look new! They cook evenly and they clean up wonderfully. I love, love, love them!! I wouldn't trade them for anything else.

For less than $100 this set is very good value for money. If you have an induction cooktop, this is certainly one of the cheapest sets you can buy.

Pro's:

1/ Very good non-stick. I have had my set for over a year and they just wipe out with a dishcloth. They are dishwasher safe, although I rarely bother as it's so easy to do them by hand.

2/ Value for money with two frying pans, three saucepans plus dutch oven.

Con's:

1/ The pan's are small, which I mostly find useful, but you may find yourself wishing for a 12" frying pan and a 4 quart saucepan on occasion.

2/ The bases have warped on the 3 quart pan and the 10" fry pan. This is a minor annoyance on my induction cooktop, as perfect contact is unnecessary. My guess is that the same would be true for gas, but this would be an issue for those with regular electric cooktops.

I would probably buy t-fal again, but I would be tempted to upgrade to Circulon Infinite, which has much heavier bases not subject to warping. Basically you get what you pay for, as Circulon is considerably more expensive than t-fal.

We purchased this cookware after reading the above review stating that it works on induction cooktops AND after it came up under a search for "induction cookware". Well, after waiting way too long for this to arrive (it took acehardware outlet over a week to ship it out) we found that it does not, in fact, work on induction. The box itself states that it is "suitable for all heat sources except induction." They are hard anodized aluminum.

Overall, the cookware seemed nice enough nice comfy grips, not-too-heavy, and glass lids. They just aren't what we were hoping for.

We have used T-fal cookware for many years. Our last set lasted 10 years and we donated it to charity and purchased a new set. What we like about T-fal is the quality and it seems to last forever. We love the glass lids so you can see what is in the different pots and what is going on in the pot. The venting system built into the lids for the steam outlet is perfect. The glass lids are rugged and sturdy and we have never broken one. The lids are made of tempered glass.

We always make sure to use nonmetal cooking utensils and this protects the finish in the cookware. The non-stick surface is just great and clean-up is easy on the inside and outside of the cookware. The cookware is rated dishwasher safe but we always hand wash ours and it looks new for years. The professional series of cookware features riveted silicone handles that are even oven safe up to 350° F.

I have seen several comments that this cookware can be used on induction stoves and this is not true. The bases of the pans are made of a stainless steel disc base over a heavy gauge aluminum base that provides even heating and cooking. This combination of materials is not magnetic and induction heating will not work with these pans. The combination of the stainless steel disc and the aluminum base provides anti-warping protection for your cookware.

The red thermo spot on the base of the pan is ideal to tell when the surface of the pan has been preheated to allow you to begin cooking to help seal in the flavor of your food. We just love these pans and would not use another brand as we have had such satisfactory results with this brand. It is a great set of cookware and I recommend it to you as a 5 star product.
