i have one requirement for a pot: it needs to fit my Aga stove. In other words, it should have a perfectly flat bottom and not be too tall to fit in the ovens. Since having the Aga installed several years ago, I had to replace the pots that didn't fit or work properly on the big flat plates that serve as burners.. All Sitram pots have a thick flat bottom which works perfectly on my stove. Since most of them are made for commercial use, they are extremely sturdy and come in many useful sizes. When I realized that one of my stockpots was too tall for my ovens, i got this pot, and it's perfect, since it's wide and low. This is a great pot for large batches of stew, soup, or stock. It cleans up nicely by hand or in the dishwasher, and a little stainless steel cleaner takes away any stains that do develop. My only (small) complaint is that the lids have to be purchased separately. As you may have guessed, I own several Sitram pots and pans and like them all. They're not expensive, either.

So far, I am very pleased with this purchase. The board is beautiful, the wood grain varies and looks just like the picture. It is a little thinner than the ones I'd had before but that is fine fits better in my smallish hands. I also appreciate the hole and loop of leather which allow me to hang it up to dry. Please be advised, one cannot lay these boards down to store, they accumulate mold from being wet. So, hanging them unencumbered is the best way to store them. This one is also a nice size. (All I use mine for is chopping vegetables and fruits).

Pan appeared new but was not in it's original packaging, which was awkward for a gift. Apparently the original lid was swapped by the 2nd party vendor for another Calphalon lid. The lid shipped with the pan it did not fit the pan, but luckily I have another Calphalon lid that will work. I'd rate the pan a 5 star and the lid a 0.

This is to second another review here. This item, while beautiful, is not up to the usual Le Creuset standards (and I own 8 or 9 other Le Creuset pieces, with which I am quite happy). The lid on this casserole is loose, and however arranged, is never even close to a snug fit. If I hadn't thrown away the box, I would return it.

How to make perfect roast chicken in the perfect little pot: I use kosher chickens because they taste yummier. I take the skin off the chicken, which is disgusting, but really worth it. Preheat the oven to 500F, Put a little olive oil in the bottom of the pot, and make a basting sauce of a couple tablespoons of olive oil and a couple of tablespoons of fino sherry wisked together with a couple of grinds from the pepper grinder. (You don't need salt because kosher chicken is salted.) Rinse the chicken in cold running water, especially in the cavity and pat it dry with clean paper towels, especially in the cavity. Put the chicken breast side up in the pot and grind some pepper over it. Dribble most of basting sauce over it and flip it so the breast meat is in contact with the bottom of the pot. Grind some pepper over the second side and dribble the remaining sauce over it. Roast in the oven for about 25 minutes until the breast starts to brown. Baste the chicken at 10 minutes, a baste and check for brownness at 20 minutes. When the breast looks crisp and brown, flip the chicken and turn the oven down to 325F. It won't need much longer in the oven until the thighs are about 160F. The pot is light and easy to handle while it's hot, and cleans up with a little scrubbing from a 3M scrubby sponge and a night in the dishwasher. Quite a perfect little pot!

This piece of stoneware cracked after about 12 months of normal use (and frankly it's happened to several of our recently purchased Le Creuset pieces) the quality doesn't seem to be there any longer not sure if they are cutting costs or what but it is really a disappointing. I take this unit on vacation with us I use it at home I take it to over nighters anywhere.

I see some reviews that say it has no temp adjustment well, it simply would be useless if it did.

Pour in the batter and set the timer for 3 min 45 seconds and two waffles are done to perfection each time and everytime. It has never failed after hundreds of waffles

I also see some noise about it being large and bulky well, if you want a heavy duty machine that will out last you, this is what you get. I have no trouble taking it everywhere.

The best unit ever!

PS: The very best waffle mix is the malted mix from Williams Sonoma wow! I am going to make some now . . .

KitchenAid Pro Line Series Waffle Baker

I recommend the purchase of this waffle baker.

I purchased the baker from Amazon.com using bonus points on 12/18/10. S&H was included which is one of the reasons I like using Amazon. Plus, the price was right.

I received the unit via UPS in three days after ordering. Even though it was Christmas time, Amazon was just as fast as I usually find them. The packaging was excellent and the package was received unscathed.

Cons.

The unit is made in China. I find that a little disappointing as the stainless steel and workmanship is good, but not the same quality as products made in the USA.

There were a few small scratches on various places to the unit. But, not to the extent that it is worth returning for a different unit.

The waffle make unit does not sit level in the cradle and has to be adjusted to insure that it is level. When turning the unit it will go just a little beyond level.

Although most of the unit is metal there are still plastic components. The plastic around the hinges causes me some concern. I'll just hope for the best.

Pros.

The unit is larger than most waffle makers for home use but, it doesn't take up much room on the counter and looks good. It is the size unit that you'll find in most hotels/motels. Be aware that it is, also, heavier than most waffle bakers.

It took about three minutes to get hot from the time I plugged it in until ready to cook. After that, the unit was ready to cook within seconds of removing the waffles.

The ready light and thermometer work well and leave no doubt of the unit's ready status.

I find the alarms helpful in reminding me of the unit being ready to cook or the when waffles are finished.

It is easy to clean after use. Just a damp rag for washing and a drying rag is all that is needed.

If you read the instruction booklet and follow the instructions, the waffles turn out great with a couple of minor exceptions listed below.

The waffles are a good size. I doubt if you'll want more than one as the waffles are that big.

It is easy to use. Just set the timer and wait. The controls are clearly marked and easily operated.

I found when pouring the batter that it took only about ¾ cup to make a waffle and not the full cup recommended in the instruction booklet.

I also found that 4 minutes is a good time to cook the waffles to the doneness that my wife and I like.

I am looking forward to getting a lot of use out of the unit. If you're looking for a unit that makes really good Belgian waffles than this unit is a winner. I would get this unit again.

I gave it a four stars instead of five primarily due to having to insure the unit is sitting level in the cradle.

We have a couple of other Kitchenaid products, so I knew this waffle baker would be built like a tank. The instructions were well written and pretty straightforward. It is simple to operate and the waffles I made this morning came out great. I used a basic waffle recipe (you can get mixes, but it only take a few minutes to make it from scratch). I started out with the timer (which is very simple to operate) set to 4 minutes; this was good but the waffles wanted to stick just a tiny bit, so I tried setting at 4.5 minutes, which was perfect.

The waffles were delicious, and HUGE. Yes, you can make a lot of waffles very quickly, but really, you only need to make a few of these waffles to feed a crowd. I made 5 waffles this morning for six people (four young kids, two adults), and had one whole waffle left over. The waffles separate into quarters very easily, and one quarter is definitely a good bit for one plate. If I could give it 6 stars, i would.

Like others, I read and was blown away by the numerous highly rated reviews of this waffle maker. Our UNO had finally given up the ghost after many moons of Daddy breakfast waffles. We decided to take the plunge ($200 for a residential waffle maker is a plunge by our standards) and buy the Kitchenaid. From the opening of the box until the first set of waffles, we were VERY pleased. This machine is really well suited for mass waffleage! It is big and you need to consider that before purchasing. It is also heavy, so consider that as well. I liked the timer, build, two waffles at a time and theoretically, the auto shutoff. Herein lies the reason for three stars. We made our batch of waffles and left for the day. The waffle maker was turned off. No lights were on. When we returned, the house smelled odd and I realized the waffle machine was on and burning full power. Still, no lights on the machine. I heard a little hum, so I knew current was flowing. Of course, the machine was hotter than blazes which was a better indicator it was on after 12 hours of no one at home. I have since tried some experiments and essentially, the off button does not turn it off, nor does the auto shutoff circuit work. You must unplug our machine for it to turn off. Although this is how we usually work our waffle makers, we have never had one with an on-off button so I expect it to perform as stated in the manual. I have now seen other reviews with the same problem, so this is not isolated. Other than this, this machine works great. I will also point out the waffles are huge. Get ready to overfill yourself or split them with a neighbor! We did not buy another since it seemed that others were having the same problem. I bought the Calphalon and been really happy with it.

OK, first of all, I have owned a much smaller Cuisenart Waffle Maker (Model WMR-C) for several years. Although it worked OK and made decent waffles, I always craved the big thick, crusty on the outside, fluffy on the inside waffles I would get in various restaurants. My older waffle maker would also stick a lot more (even with various non stick products used) and was also dificult to clean.

Anyway, I saw this waffle baker advertised on one of the "deal" websites I visit often. After researching it, and reading all the rave reviews, I was convinced and wanted to buy one. I shopped around and found the best price (with 5% off for joining their email list and free shipping) at ABT Electronics. Final price $142, which I think was a good deal and well worth it. I'm not sure if they're still running this deal.

Anyway, when you first start using this waffle baker, it does give off a strong chemical odor which they mention will happen and happens with most items like this at first. However, I just about wasted a full batch of waffles using this the first time because of the odor and an aftertaste even after throwing out the first 4 waffles (I was using both sides). So after using it the first time, I left it on and partially filled (carefully) both sides, one at a time with water and tried to "boil" out the smell and aftertaste effect. Then I thouroughly wiped it clean. The next time I used it, I didn't have that problem.

The waffles came out nice and golden brown. Slightly crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside. This waffle baker (when using both sides) also does the job very quickly. I made about 7 huge waffles in about 10 minutes. It is also very non stick. I used no spray or anything. I just put the batter in, turned it over and did the other side. I gave each waffle about 3 minutes, and used a plasctic serving fork to pop the waffles out, with very little or no sticking.

After using it, I let it cool a little, and wiped it out easily with a damp paper towel.

Just a note: This waffle baker seems to be very well made and would even be good for professionals. Because of this, it is also pretty big and heavy. So keep that in mind, if space and weight are an issue for you. I have reserved a spot in my pantry closet for it, so I move it from my counter after using it, but I guess it would be fine to leave out, if you have the space.

Bottom line; if you would like professional, restaurant syle waffles, this waffle baker is for you. Of course, it has a hefty price, but for me it seems worth it. Especially if you shop around and get a deal. I think I shall probably have this one for the rest of my life, because it seems like it will hold up that long.

I have been searching for and researching ceramic cookware for months. I came across these and, even though there are vey few reviews, I decided to give them a try. I got the 2qt saucepan, the 10 1/4" frying pan and the 8" frying pan. So far they are all wonderful! The heat is very evenly distributed. I have used the saucepan to brown ground turkey & onions, for spaghetti sauce, heating up vegetables, and other things, and so far everything cleans up easily. I am very happy with the Bialetti Aeturnum pans! I just wish they had a few more sizes!

When I first bought this in Oct 2011 I was so thrilled. The ceramic coating is way easy to clean. I love the red, which spices up my kitchen.

Unfortunately, the coating has started to chip badly around the top, and even on the bottom now I've discovered a chip within the past week.

I don't abuse my pans. I use nylon or wood cooking utensils. I wash by hand.

It's really too bad that it's started to chip like this. I was going to buy a cast iron pan (there are two brands here on Amazon) but was not pleased with the reviews. I use this pan almost every day for soup at lunchtime and veggies at dinner. It has to be sturdy but light enough for me to handle.

Well, the time limit has expired for return, so today I bought a nice stainless steel pan to replace this pan. Wish it could have lasted longer. :(

I purchased a Bialetti Aeternum skillet and absolutely fell in love with it. So we purchased the 2 qt covered sauce pan and love it too.

Tonight whilst washing dishes (no dishwasher here except the 2-legged variety) we noticed that one of our Paula Deen skillets had teflon peeling off the bottom of it. I immediately threw in the garbage can without hesitation. I had 2 of the Paula Deen stockpots and finally returned them to the store.

Anyway here I am tonight ordering another Bialetti Aeternum skillet. Now we have 2 of the skillets and the 2 qt sauce pan.

What is even more wonderful is that they are red...............all our cookware and dishes are red!

Husband will be in trouble if he tries to ferret this Bialetti Aeternum cookware out of the house to the hunting camp!!!!

It could actually be an elegant piece of engineering, but in person it looks like a pair of chinese-knockoff-$5-sunglasses.

Cons:

1. The finish does wear off on the inside, and chips on the edges.

2. It got slightly mishapen during shipping.

3. The metallic finish looks cheap. It is cheap, plastic coated metallic paint. It ruins what would basically be an elegant design. Really not classy, gross in fact. To be clear, I keep this hidden from view with guests around.

4. The handle is made of cheap bakelite plastic. If you heat it up, it will begin to smoke it will smell like, burnt plastic and death.

Pro

1. Stuff really does not stick to the sides. And I guess it is not toxic.

2. having a white backdrop to your cooking is interesting.

3. there are no Rivets connecting the handle to the inside of the cooking.

3. There are few other options on the market.

Bialetti, please put a bit more effort into using higher quality materials for the handle, edges and finishes.

I dislike ordering sizzling Fajitas at a restaurant when they come out not sizzleing. I decided to order two of these pans and make my own. I use one for beef and one for chicken. I prepare the peppers and onions in a seperate pan and place them in the oven to keep hot. Meanwhile, I place the iron pans in the oven, top shelf under low broil, just to get the pans nice and hot. I prepare the meat. Once I am ready, I test the pans with a drip of water to see if they sizzle. At that point, I remove the pans, use a light spray of Pam on each and place the meat, chicken, peppers and onions on each pan and serve "sizzleing" right away. They taste better then the restaurant because they are prepared with TLC. You can make up your own sauce or use the packets. I use Baja Chipotle by Lawry's Serve with all the usual fixings.

I like to cook fajitas and carnitas on the grill but the restaurant experience of having them served on a sizzling platter has always been missing...not any more. I still prepare the food in the same manner as always and a few minutes before taking the meat and vegetables off the grill I throw these pans on the grill to get them nice and hot. When the food is ready so are the platters. With the aid of a good grill mitt and the wooden bases the rest is easy...just dish up the servings on the platter and take them to the table. I am a loyal Kitchen Aid fan, and have almost all of their countertop appliances. I have always been impressed with their customer service. However, I bought this immersion blender a little over a year ago, and TWICE the part that attaches the blender section to the motor section has cracked. They replaced it the first time, but this time, because it's out of warranty I would have to buy the replacement part at the same cost as buying this entire one new. Prior to this safety issue, it worked well and I really liked it. This is my first disappointment with a Kitchen Aid product, but this particular blender does not warrant anything more than 2 stars.

I love this immersion blender! I had a small HB plastic blender to mix protein drinks rather than haul out the big blender. It did the job, but was flimsy. This KitchenAid immersion blender comes with a large cup with rubber on the botton to prevent slipping on the counter, and is large enough for mixing the protein drinks, and wide enough that the immersion blender does not toss any of the contents. I highly recommend it!

I was making sweet potatoes and I had to use both hands to hold the mixer together while I was mixing because it kept detaching and I had to hold the button to blend. I wish the lock feature was better ( not just magnetic with a little twist)and you didn't have to hold the button down while you blended. I am bummed :(

This is a great item, very solid, well made and strong. We have been cooking two chickens at a time, with four ears on corn on one side and four potatoes on the other side. Using two charcoal fires, one at each end of the grill. The heat stays at about 300 degrees and in two hours everything is perfectly cooked! this is a heavy duty well made beer can chicken/potato/corn cooking rack. this rack seems to welded good and is easy to clean but be very careful the part that holds the potatoes/corn are VERY sharp. there are plastic protectors over the points for safety that can be removed and should be removed before placing rack in the oven/smoker/grill because they will melt. the part that holds the cans works great the chickens stay standing upright. this rack works very well and was worth what I payed for it.

We love this. No, really. We love it. It's so much easier than how we used to prop up the chicken during cooking and hope we didn't bump the grill and knock it over. We probably use this once a week.

It fits two regular sized full chickens perfectly with the can underneath. It's 100% stable. It's easy to remove the chickens from the cooker as well, leaving the can behind so it can cool before being thrown away.

We've used the metal skewers on the side for potato or veggies and it's great to have it all cook in one place at one time.

Can't recommend this one enough if you are looking to make beer bum chicken cooking easier.

This rack does a great job keeping the beer can & the chicken upright. There is enough space to fit 2 birds on it at a time. My DH forgot to remove the black caps that protect errant fingers from getting poked on the potato spears, so they did get melted during the first use. Now we just have to be careful.

I am pretty particular about coffee. I like to gind my own beans and have never used a perc coffee pot in the past. But we were having a huge family gathering and I needed a lot of coffee.

I ordered this Party Perk machine and when it came in I almost returned it because it seemed so flimsy, but I figured I'd give it a chance.

I'm glad I did. All the information I read on the Internet about coffee said that perc'd coffee is not very good because the water is boiled and constantly recirculated through the grounds and this does not equate to how to achieve the best tasting coffee.

Well, while this was not the BEST coffee I have ever had, the coffee was none-the-less very good. I used Berkley and Jensen ground coffee (available at BJ's Wholesale club)and I could not have been more pleased with the results from this Party Perk. I used a little more than 2-1/2 cups of ground coffee for the full 42 cups and the information I read about expecting the pot to brew the coffee at one cup per minute seemed pretty accurate.

There were a lot of compliments on how good the coffee tasted. It did not taste burned, even after being kept warmed in the pot for a few hours.

I cannot comment on the durability of the machine as I haven't had it that long. My parents saw this pot and remarked that they had the same one for many many years before they gave it away and never had the first bit of trouble with it.

I needed two coffee urns for a large gathering and found two that seemed to fit my needs the West Bend and the Hamilton Beach 40515 42-Cup Coffee Urn, Silver. I decided to purchase one of each.

The Hamilton Beach blows the West Bend out of the water. It is much larger and better built.

Though they both are advertised as 42-cup, the Hamilton has a 10.5 liter capacity, while the West Bend only has a 7 liter capacity. That's 3.5 liters more (1.5x larger) than the West Bend that's a huge difference!

And finally, the West Bend just feels really cheap and flimsy. The Hamilton feels much more sturdy.

Hamilton wins this one hands down.

We've been using this model for years, mostly because it's cheap. A bit flimsy in construction, strainer allows too many grounds to settle in bottom. Good enough for the price; we'll buy another one.

Very good coffee maker,great for parties. The only thing that is a little problem is getting the last cup to pour,a little tilting is necessary to get that last drop.Coffee is done very quickly, even making the full 42 cups. coffee stays hot as long as unit is plugged in.Very good buy.

We got this coffee maker to replace our thirty year old 20 cup maker. After 2 months of constant use, it's still going strong. Unlike most people, we use this as our main coffee maker. It take us about 2 days to empty it. My husband fills his thermos when going to work and I still have coffee left over for the day.

The coffee maker makes a decent cup of coffee. Our only problem was we had 4 large cans of coffee in the cupboard that we could no longer use. We wound up wrapping them for Christmas presents. This coffee maker uses a courser ground coffee than the ADC makers. Luckily our grocery store has whole beans that you can grind to your specs.

My husband says he only wishes that it would come with a timer. I mentioned to him that this is normally used at a social function. We solved the problem with a timer that plugs into the outlet that we plug the maker into.

Eventually when this one goes out, we'll buy another one like this. The size and style fits well on our counter under the cupboard. It takes about 40-45 mins for a full pot to brew.

This unit has some nice features and accessories like the scoop and the easy removable bin. However, the ice cuttings are not consistent and definitely not very fine; the ice is pretty chunky after being cut. The Victorio unit, which is nearly half the price, does a much better job of shaving the ice. In this price range there are a couple of better options (like the one from Great Northern Popcorn). The unit also looks like it is made out of metal, but everything is plastic, and pretty flimsy plastic at that.

I bought this maker for home use and have used it several times. It does have a plastic handle and does not look as well built as the picture leads you to think, but it is working fine for me. I make sure I do not put a lot of pressure on the handle when using it. It chops the ice fast and the storage bin holds enought ice for my family of 4 to get a snow cone each in large to medium size cup. We do not use the snow cone holders. I would recommend this product for any one who would like to enjoy a snow cone every so often, but not for any comercial use.

This machine is overall not very good. The video tutorial claimed it could make 3-4 snowcones per ice load. We filled the machine to the top with ice and barely made two. The ice is not like snow at all, but rather like chunky bits of ice. When we tried to pack it down, the ice wouldn't go into a respectable dome shape. The ice was hard to chew and wouldn't hold the flavor well at all. I wouldn't recommend this machine to anyone who wants a serious snowcone experience. It is of too low quality and performance to be priced this high also.

Okay, I'll admit I'm old. I can remember getting a manual grinder sno cone maker when I was around 10. It was the most god awful thing I ever got, as it took half an hour or more to fill up half a cup. Those memories influenced me when my wife said we should get a snow cone maker for our grandson's birthyday party.

I did my research and found most of them had some negative reviews, unless you were paying over $400. The Waring Pro had a reasonable price, and appeared to be well built. Most of the reviews were postive. So, it was the one we chose.

It arrived packaged nicely, as you would expect from Amazon and its vendors. It was very easy to set up and connect the parts. It was, indeed, very sturdy and well put together. It did not have the 'cheap' feeling that you get with low end purchases of this nature.

Of course the most important issue: Does it Make Sno Cones?

Yes! Amazingly fast. It blew by my memories and showed me what is going on in athe 21st century of sno-cone makers! We had a bag of the 'big cube' ice. I was skeptical that it would be able to do anything with it, and was ready with a hammer to start breaking it into smaller pieces. However, the Waring Pro digested the ice as if it was slush. Two cubes and we had enough for one cone and it took about 10-15 seconds. That's right, seconds! We gave it the acid test at the birthday party with 30 or so 4 year olds lined up and hungry for their treat. It worked perfectly. No stalls, no ice cube stuck, and as quick as we put the cubes in they came out the other end as crushed ice for the cones. I was impressed with its overall manufacturing and the result. I would definitely recommend this product. The only caveat is that we've only had it since May, so we'll have to update the review after a year and see if it's still churning out the cones.
