This is a very heavy attractive tea kettle. Really good for my purpose, which is to use it as a humidifier on top of my pellet stove. Thanks

If you like us on the river with a wood burning stove and need that extra moisture in the air this is you best bet! This is in no way to be used for anything consumable however... Within a week of water being inside and on the stove the inside rusted out.

Again, perfect for what it needs to be used for

I bought this as a gift for my girl friend who lives in the mountians and has been looking for one to put on her wood burning stove. I also bought the cast iron trivet 8 inch in diameter by old mountain that has the three prongs on it. It is for her Christmas gift this year. I know she is going to love it.

I have three lifters to compare. They are the traditional styled Lodge A5 Camp Dutch Oven Lid Lifter, this Lodge A5DLL Deluxe Lid Lifter, and the Camp Chef Professional Dutch Oven Lid Lifter (Black, 9-Inch). Here is my unbiased opinion of all three.

Lodge A5 Camp Dutch Oven Lid Lifter

Pros:

This is a multi-purpose item and it surprisingly has the best finish & has the least sloppily welded junctions of all three lifters.

I say this is a multi-purpose item because the two deluxe lifters are pretty much dedicated dutch oven table / charcoal cooking items. If you are cooking over a campfire I would go with the A5 because it can be used as a fire poker, and a coal rake as well as a lid lifter.

The A5 lifter is just as good as the Camp Chef when it comes to carrying a dutch oven by the bail handle over long distances because of the T-handle portion that is welded to the handle. The Deluxe Lodge A5DLL lifter is slightly worse because of the odd downward slope of the handle.

Cons:

The A5 does not have a cushioned handle like the other two.

There is more of a learning curve as far as balancing the lid is concerned.... But not as drastic as other reviewers would lead you to believe unless you are truly an uncoordinated klutz. Yes, the deluxe lifters are both more stable when it comes to controlling the lid, but as of right now, the only major thing I can do with the other lifters that I cannot do with the traditional A5 is grab the lid and turn it completely upside down. Unless you are a tricked out dutch oven stunt cooking artist, then there is really no need to do this. I'm still able to use the A5 to tilt the lid to either side to knock the ashes off and whatever else I need to do while cooking and transporting (by the bail handle) the ovens. The point, I am trying to make is that the A5 is not as bad as people try to make it out to be.

Lodge A5DLL Deluxe Lid Lifter

Pros:

This one has the best length for ground cooking. That is about the only good advantage that this one has over the rest of them, however, if you plan on doing deep bean hole type cooking, then I would go with the Camp Chef Professional Dutch Oven Lid Lifter, 22-Inch (which I do not own, but looks identical to the 9-inch which I do own).

Cons:

The finish on this model is the worst of the three. It is almost as if they baked on the finish and then tried to weld it together after the fact... as opposed to the Camp Chef which looks like it was welded first... then baked on the finished (which is how I would expect the process to be done). Then inner bar of the A5DLL Deluxe wiggles and turns inside the outer sleeve much more so than the Camp Chef, which is very annoying.

I am not sure I am all that sold on the downward slope of the A5DLL handle as opposed to the straight, parallel handle configuration of the Camp Chef.

To me, this is the worst lifter... and it cost the most. Looks like I paid more for the Lodge name, rather than any added or superior benefits over the Camp Chef version. However it's not really something that I would waste time trying to return through the mail because the advantages of the Camp Chef version over this one are minimal. If I had to do it all over again, knowing what I know now, I would probably have purchased the 14-inch Camp Chef version over the A5DLL, but then I would be giving up 2 inches in length which is better for ground cooking as opposed to table cooking.

Camp Chef Professional Dutch oven Lid Lifter (Black, 9-Inch)

Pros:

This one is the best for dutch oven table cooking because of its length. It keeps you from having the move the ovens around on the table in an awkward position because the length is just right.

The handle on the Camp Chef has more of a solid feel than the Lodge Deluxe A5DLL version. The parallel bar configuration works the best for me.

The weld junctions on the Camp Chef are better and it has a slightly more beefier construction than the Lodge Deluxe A5DLL. However, the lodge A5 has the best welds (read: more durability) of all three lifters that I own.

Cons:

The only con I can see at this point is that the metal is exposed under the outer sleeve of the t-handle (I assume to make it slide better inside the sleeve) on the Camp Chef. There could be a rusting issue somewhere down the line... then again maybe not because it looks like that part is galvanized. Only time will tell. There really is no need for this portion to be unfinished, because part of the bar that slides within the tube is finished and it does not hinder the way the bar functions at all.

Final thoughts:

Overall I like the traditional A5 the best but that is just my personal preference because of its multi-functional versatility. It's just a jack of all trades. I can do almost everything the deluxe lifters can do, plus I can use it as a fire poker and a coal raker.

If you are cooking over a campfire, go with the A-5. If your cooking is limited only to cooking on a dutch oven table, then I would go with the 9-inch Camp Chef lifter. If you are ground or bean-hole cooking then I would take a long look at both the Camp Chef 14-inch and 22-inch lid lifters before deciding to buy this Lodge A5DLL Deluxe Lid Lifter.

I purchased this pan along with a lid from a different website than Amazon, and have had it for about three months. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

This pan has a great heft to it, which means that you can stir or manipulate the food inside one-handed without the whole thing sliding around.

The interior stainless, while a little bit stickier (because its slightly less finished) than other clad cookware, performs great and cleans up wonderfully. I always hand wash my cookware, and this item looks brand new on the outside. The inside shows use from metal utensils, but that's part of the life of a stainless pan.

The cast iron handle will (slowly) heat up as the pan is left on a burner, but I actually find it to be a good indicator of the pan's heat. Also, I find the handle super comfortable and easy to maneuver when pouring. The only disadvantage is that it's important to dry the area around the handle well to completely avoid rust. You can also season it like a cast iron pan to help the issue, though it'd be best to remove the protective coating on it first.

The pouring lip is a wonderful touch. So much of what I cook in a saute pan has a liquid component, and it's great to be able to avoid dribbles.

Aside from the slight tendency toward rust around the handle (which is more of a cosmetic issue than structural, really), the only other thing I find a little annoying about this pan is how it is prone to heat discoloration. Almost everything I cook in it seems to leave heat rings inside, and any heat above medium slightly discolors the bottom of the pan. A little vinegar after washing cleans it up to sparkling again, but it's a step that I don't have to do with all of my cookware. Oh, and though not related to the pan itself, the sticker that comes on the inside is really tough to get off. I soaked it in hot water and then used some vodka to get it loose, but I don't think such steps should be a prerequisite to even cleaning a pan.

Essentially, this is a high-performance pan with great aesthetics. When you've decided to enter this price range while buying cookware, I think the biggest differences are in appearance and feel, whereas performance will be pretty reliable no matter what the brand. I chose this brand mainly because of its great history, awesome style, and induction compatibility, though I'm equally happy with some of my pans that were half the price. Other brands that I considered were All-Clad, Demeyere, Fissler, Sitram, and Viking. I recommend holding a pan before you buy it; no amount of research can replace that.

Very Classy! Glam all the way. Very durable. Drawstring bags have a sleek finish. Keeps my pans from getting damaged as they are stacked. Yes you can't see through them because they are all black, but since I always put my pans away in the same order, I have yet to have an issue. Plus, you can feel which pan it is right through the bag. You won't regret getting these. If you value your pots and pans like I do, after all they are an investment, then you need these.

Best Farberware Insulated Bakeware Cookie Sheet Deals

Farberware Insulated Bakeware 14' x 16' Cookie Sheet
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
Having recently used this as part of the holiday baking equipment, I got a full run test to base the review on. This is a heavy weight cookie sheet, nothing cheap about it, it does cover a full rack in the oven and it's non-stick coating so far appears to be quite durable. Cookies did come off quite easily, even sliding off in many cases, handy if you are at the right location and time to remove them, that is. This would be great to cook a large pizza on, as it has the size to do the job. It has been very easy to clean as well, as you would expect from non-stick coated bakeware. You do have to keep a good grip on the this rather slippery sheet though, as it wants to slide all over the place. To resolve the sliding issue, make sure to place ONLY on a flat surface and use a silicone baking glove or mitt to move it while the sheet is too hot to handle. This sheet is ultra-efficient for the busy cook in the way of baking so many things at once, just about double the normal size cookie sheet capacity. The big problem with this sheet being it's tendency to develop hot spots, which means the full sheet of cookies is likely to be baked unevenly, especially those that are closer to the edge burn a bit, meanwhile those in the center are far less done. Trying to rotate this sheet half way through baking time doesn't entirely resolve this issue either, as well as that being no small task, given the sheet must be pulled all the way out to be turned around, given it's size. If you are baking cookies or similar, this sheet is probably best suited to those with convection ovens, as they have less tendency to produce those hot spots. For the rest of us, this sheet provides a great tool for supporting large disposal aluminum baking pans, items that are very large, such as french bread and also to use as a drip pan underneath the messy and drippy bakers like pies. Given this is an insulated baking sheet, I really was so disappointed with the burning issue, but all in all, with the tasks it is suited for in mind, I could definitely recommend it.

I got into a baking mood for the holidays, and my little cookie sheets just weren't going to cut it for holiday cookies. So I decided to try a larger sheet to be more efficient. The size is perfect for my oven. I got two pans so I could bake twice as many cookies at the same time (rotating and alternating positions half-way through).

However, there are some issues that prevent me from giving this product 5 stars:

Since it's a non-stick surface with just 1 raised edge, cookies have a tendency to slip/slid. at one point, about 6 Snickerdoodles slid off the pan while I was trying to insert the sheet into the oven.

Be careful with the non-stick surface, it's easily scratched. I made the mistake of putting these cookie sheets on the edge of a metal pan, and part of the coating from the cookie sheet got scratched off. Thankfully, the parts that got scratched off were on the bottom of the sheet, so it doesn't affect the baking surface. I only have a silicone spatula, so I used that to remove my cookies, but I could see if you had a metal spatula, it could potentially scratch the baking surface.

Since this is an insulated baking sheet, there are little holes on the bottom corners of the sheet, which water can get into when washing, so make sure you properly dry the sheets before storing them.

This wasn't an issue for me since it fit my oven perfectly, but you might want to measure the inside of your oven to verify these baking sheets will fit.

Overall, I thought this was a great product, and I would recommend it to others.

Best Deals for Farberware Insulated Bakeware Cookie Sheet

For years I have used another brand of cookie sheet, one that offered an insulated baking sheet much like this one, but I switched to this brand as that what was available through Amazon Prime. I'm pleased that I made the switch. While the Farberware baking sheet is designed and built slightly differently than my other baking sheets, the Farberware Insulted baking sheet works as advertised. It's also very sturdy, has some weight to it, and so far no warping.

Also, the baked goods come out of the oven with no scorched or burned bottoms. They are perfectly baked.

Keep in mind this is a large, open rim baking sheet, so make sure your oven is large enough to accommodate the baking sheet.

Highly recommend.

Honest reviews on Farberware Insulated Bakeware Cookie Sheet

I finally found a great cookie sheet! The cookies slide right off the cookie sheet. You actually have to be careful not to tip them off the sheet. No sticking at all. Be sure to face the tip of the sheet towards the oven opening in order to get them out of the oven safely. The other amazing thing is the cleanup. Just a little soap and water. No scraping. It is necessary to bake a little longer than your recipe calls for, but there is no burning cookies on these sheets. My sister-in-law has Rema cookie sheets which I just love but hadn't been able to find. These are just as good. I tried several other brands (Wearever was one) and ended up returning them. They stuck terribly. I have the very large 20" ,Farberware 52152 Insulated Bakeware 15-1/2-by-20-Inch Jumbo Cookie Sheet The size is perfect. It fits the entire shelf of my oven. I also have the two-piece set with the smaller cookie sheet and pizza crisper. Farberware Insulated Bakeware Value Pack The pizza crisper does a really nice job on frozen pizzas. No soggy crust. I reheated part of a pizza on it, and some cheese baked on. It rinsed off with hot water and no scraping. Farberware has done a great job again!

Just before the holidays, I ordered two of these. They were sent in separate boxes, with appropriate packaging, but while one arrived unscathed, the other had one of its corners slightly bashed in. At first I thought I could work with it anyway, but the corner was crunched in such a way that it would always catch the oven rack when pulling the cookies out of the oven. In a nonstick pan, this is no good! I can just imagine the cookies would go everywhere, not just (if I were lucky) back into the oven!

So asked for a replacement, which arrived a few days later and was in perfect condition, or so I thought. I put it in the tray-cupboard with the other pan being careful to stack them so that they would not scratch each other's nonstick surfaces. A week later, Christmas Eve, I went to cook with them for the first time, and when I got them out to wash them (prior to cooking with them for the first time) I discovered that one of them was slightly warped -a defect I had not seen before, and which may have occurred at any time between the time I ordered the item and when I pulled it out to cook with. Upon further examination, I discovered that there was a small dent in the back which was causing the convex warp in the top. It was enough of a warp that the sheet would not lie flat on the countertop.

So, very gently -with wet, soapy hands -I tried to undo the damage and found that it bent in the other direction, far too easily. And it did so AT A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT PLACE from the original dent: about a quarter inch away. There is NO WAY these cookie sheets were "crafted from HEAVY-weight carbon steel" (as described above). Now I understood how easily the first one -the one with the dent in the corner -had been damaged, and how easily anyone could damage these right away with ordinary use. I wouldn't have bought them, if I'd known what I know now. They are way too flimsy, so I'm sending them back and I'll just have to save up for stronger ones made by another company.

I purchased this based on the photo and description of product. You cannot tell on the photo but there is a sizable handle on one side. The description states it is 12" so it should have fit in my Convection oven but it does not. The label says it is 12.25" and when I measured it actually comes up to 13" which will not fit in my convection oven. A little tired with Amazon telling me to drop off another box at a ups drop off box which is in a completely different town because of incorrect descriptions. The size should have been better noted so it wouldn't have been ordered in the first place.

Just in case you were wondering if All-Clad was outsourcing its merchandise, it is. These measuring spoons are made in China. Now that's some expensive stainless steel.

I admit I didn't need any more measuring spoons, but the old aluminum ones were all bent and the mismatched plastic ones from different sets broke. The All-Clad spoon handles feel great in the hand and the balance is perfect. However, being made overseas for the amount All-Clad over-charges is gouging. (For the count, if All-Clad is paying attention, I too am sorry to see that these were made in other than the U.S.) There are other measuring spoons just as nice, for less, although also made overseas. I would have been fine with the price had they been manufactured in the U.S.

I had a granite 16 qt kettle, that I really liked, but after a year of use, the granite all chipped off, so I needed another pan. Even though this pan is only 2 gallon, I really liked the shape and decided to give it a try. It is the perfect size for a single batch of jelly, it is very easy to scoop out of and the last little bit you can pour out, because it has a pour spout. I ordered this thinking I would probably send it back, that it would probably be the strength of a pie pan, boy was I surprized. It is made out of 18/10 stainless steel and is a good quality pan. I used it all day and found it very easy to work with, it has a bail and a helper handle and a pour spout. At $34 it was a very good buy.

I ordered this pan in the midst of a jelly/jam making (and other assorted food in jars) frenzy. One of the old school make do or do without crowd, I had been using a big Calphalon Dutch oven to make jam because it is heavy enough not to burn the sugar at high temps. But after the millionth time of cleaning jam spatters off the walls, floor, and stovetop, I did some research and ordered this CucinaPro. It is simply beautiful...deep, heavy bottom, but light to lift and handle, and cooks jams perfectly. The smaller base boils quickly and the wider top provides lots of surface for evaporation. And it cleans up like a dream. As for the size...two gallons is huge for a home cook. That means no spattering of hot sugary mess. That means double batches of salsa. It will also mean clam chowder for a big crowd, I suppose, but I can't get by the beauty of the thing for jam making and canning right now. There aren't a lot of tools you REALLY need for canning...but this one has joined my list. Oh, and did I mention that the Amazon price is less than half other vendors?

Very big pot, conducts heat well. Have used it for making jam, blanching beans and other harvest, and making pears in syrup for canning. Found it just right for my needs and very useful. The pouring handle, carrying handle, and pouring lip are useful too.

I love this pan! I have started cooking jams and preserves (following in my mother's footsteps!) and this is the ideal pan to use. I just have a normal stove, and this fits on one ring just fine. We got one as a wedding present ten years ago. The quality is superb. With a twice-a-year honing, this knife remains incredibly sharp, is well balanced in your hand, and slices with ease even the toughest meats. With careful handling, the blade and handle have not worn at all, and will probably outlive me. One caveat for those who do not have high-carbon steel knives: they do require more care (ex. don't put in dishwasher, don't let blade touch other metal, don't use crude electric sharpener). Don't let the babysitter try to pry-off bottle caps (sadly, the matching 3" paring knife met its end this way). If you appreciate fine quality in this age of throw-away, this is a knife one could be happy with forever.

I bought this one today, my first high-end cutlery purchase. It's so worth the price. I spent a lot of time in the store handling the different brands of knives, getting a feel for their construction and how they sit in the hand, and this one was definitely the best. The blade is a thing of beauty, and the handle is incredibly comfortable, not likely to hurt your hand a bit after long periods of continuous cutting. When I got it home, it performed just as beautifully as I expected. I'll definitely be saving up for more Henckels Four-Star knives.

Best Deals for Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 6-Inch High Carbon

This has been my favorite knife for years -I had it so long I can't recall when I got it. I already had an excellent set of Sabatier knives, but the handles were a bit thin and had somewhat sharp corners. One day I had occasion to use a Hencklels Four-star, and instantly fell in love with the voluptuous handle. It felt soooo good in my hand. Note that I have largeish hands, if you have smaller hands this might not be the knife for you.

I already had a 10" chef's knife, so I chose this 6" "sandwich" knife (that's what they called it back then). It has been my workhorse for years. I can put an edge on it that will shave hairs off my arm (but not quite off my face :-). Alas yesterday the blade snapped while cutting a sweet potato. No bending or twisting, just pressing down pretty hard, and bing! Mind you it had received daily use for well over a decade, if not two.

Now that I have to replace it, I think I'll go with an 8" blade. This 6" size was just a tad small for general purpose use, and I have plenty of other smaller knifes. I may get the 8" equivalent of exactly this knife, but am also considering the W'sthof Grand Prix II 7-Inch Fine Edge Santoku Knife. I'm hoping that design will keep my knuckles from bumping into the cutting board.

Here's a free tip: when pushing food around on the cutting board, use the BACK side of the knife. Don't drag the sharp edge across the board.

Honest reviews on Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 6-Inch High Carbon

I used one of these for ten or fifteen years. The steel is OK. German stainless steel from the big makers is pretty much all the same stuff. The handle is durable, but I don't find it particularly comfortable. The size is a weird in-between size. Too big for little stuff, and too small to be my main knife. Knuckle clearance is limited. I found the edge-holding properties just OK, not great. The real revelation for me was getting a cheap Chinese cleaver in carbon (i.e. non-stainless steel). It was all beat to heck, but guess what? It sharpened easier and got sharpen than any of my Henckels knives! After I did a little research, I found out why: the elements that are added to the steel for stainless knives to make them resist rust also tend to increase the size of the carbides, and this combined with the fact that the heat treatment of this steel provides for relatively low hardness, limits how sharp the knife can get and how long it will hold that edge. Carbon steel generally has a finer grain structure and smaller carbides, thus it gets sharper and is easier to sharpen. Yes, carbon steel will rust if you leave it sitting in water. And yes, there are some higher-tech stainless alloys that mostly get around these problems of grain size, and are tempered to a higher hardness. But this German steel isn't that. It's made to be durable under abuse, and made to get "kind of sharp" compared to the better options. So, for what it is, this knife works well enough. But, there are better options out there. I'd take a Sabatier carbon steel knife over this one, any day. And there are a number of Japanese knives at similar prices that will get sharper and stay sharperFujiwara FKM, for one. Heckthe Fujiwara's even stainless, tooit's just tempered to a higher hardness and alloyed with a higher carbon content (.70-.75 percent carbon for the Fujiwara versus .45 percent carbon for the Henckelsso much for "high carbon"). In sum, not a bad knife, but there are better choices out there.

Hencklels are the best knives.

I pride myself on the sharpness and the quality of my kitchen (and pocket) knives, and Henckels cannot be beaten by anyone.

They also sell a knife sharpener that has 2 settings, a courser one and a finer one.

All you have to do is drag the blade through it, no pressure on the knife, and it will make old knives new, sharp enough to shave the hair off your arm.

This 6" chefs knife is the best for everything, and I do a LOT of cooking and cutting, I know my knives.

Out of 5 stars, I give this one a 10.

Thank you,

Cindy

There are multiple peelers around and the difference in quality will astound you. I have tried a peeler from s local store, which did not work, and also tried the following from Amazon: the Nogent peeler, Wusthoff peeler, and two by Messermeister. Of the 3 the Wusthof was clearly the better one and worked well (the others would either get stuck in the vegetable, peel unevenly or inconsistently or not peel at all).

Yet, the Cuisineart took peeling to a whole new level. Peeling with the CTG-02-P2 was the EASIEST and SMOOTHEST. Gone were the repeated attempts and the struggles.

I am an away peeler, and use it mostly for cucumbers, potatoes, yams etc. Based on my experience, the Cuisinart CTG-02-P2 is the unrivaled king of peelers.

I loved this peeler and used it every day in the kitchen I work in...until it mysteriously "grew legs and walked away". I'm not sure who has it now, but I bet they love it too. I like the blade design of this peeler over other similar ones because it was easier to adjust the thickness of the shavings. It was also comfortable to use, and quite sturdy.

Wasn't even sharp enough to peel an apple. I returned it. Either not sharp enough or it is the fact that the grooves in the cutting surface aren't spaced properly. Didn't work for me.

I got this because my other peeler feel apart. It was not expensive but this peeler is very dull and much harder to to work with.

The blade section is very small and it doesn't peel well at all. Have to admit that the end does get out bad spots better than the Oxo though so I'll keep it for that purpose.

I am use to using cast iron in the past and it always performs as it should heating evenly, not burning the oil and doubles as a dutch oven.

The fryer I purchased was sent with a damaged fryer insert

The shipper replaced the insert with a new insert but a different type than originally came with the unit .i actually like the new insert better than the original.Thank you for responding and taking care of the issue.

This is great! Large capacity, basket fits inside to pull fried food back out and basket has a hook to hang on the edge of the pot. Works great and comes with a lid for storing cooking oil in the pot when cool. Makes it easy to cook up Grandma's fried chicken recipe!
