I love this pan and use it for EVERYTHING. I actually purchased this as an extra just in case. I have the whole line of T-Fal red pans/pots and love them

Best Deals for T-fal C1573364 Signature Nonstick Expert Interior Thermo-Spot Heat

T-fal 10-inch Nonstick Pan is a versatile Pan, I can Cook, Fry and Boil just about anything in it and the Food turns out Great. This 10 inch Pan is very Light made of Beautiful Hard Enamel outside and Non-Stick interior, the Pan comes with a Clear Glass Lid to see what's Cooking inside the Pan without having to lift it, the Lid has a Hole that works as a Vent to release Steam. It has the Thermo-Spot, Unique Heat Indicator, a Red Circle on the Center of the Pan that turns Bright Red and shows you when the Surface of the Pan is Perfectly Heated to Seal in the Flavor of the Food, it might be a Gimmick but I like That

The Pro-Metal Interior is Exceptionally Durable and Scratch Resistant, Safe to use with Metal Utensils, although I always use wooden ones. The exterior Enamel is Durable and Stain Resistant and easy to Clean, even though is Dishwasher Safe, I like to do it by hand, I want the Pan to look good for a long time. It has even Heat Distribution for Reliable Cooking Results, I also like the Comfortable Long Big Handle, it is very easy to hold and it keeps Cool. I like T-fal Cookware, it's very Light and it doesn't Weigh that much and if you take care of it, it can Lasts for Years! ...Thank You D.D.

This T-fal pan with glass cover was exactly what I was looking for. Not too big, not too small. Just right!! Arrived in perfect condition, and sooner than expected. I wanted it in blue instead of the red color, but the blue one was like $15.00 more. I can live with the red, and spend the $15.00 on FOOD!! hehe Great product. Highly recommend it. :)

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this pitcher. The price is rock-bottom, as are the replacement filters (I was able to get the pitcher and 1 years worth of filtration for less than the price of just a Brita or PUR pitcher alone).

The water tastes great, the pitcher fills pretty quickly, it's easy to clean and the filter changes easily. The LID is an issue, but a very small one for me personally. It does flip off easily, but that is solved by just pressing it with your thumb when you pour. A very minor inconvenience in an otherwise excellent product.

The lid is not only made of fragile plastic, but it also fits loosely on the pitcher. There really is no good grip to lift the lid. My first time, I dropped it, and the lid broke. Otherwise, it works well.

Best Deals for Culligan PIT-1 Water Filter Pitcher

Reviews complaining about the Culligan pitcher must be mistaken. We bought a Britta pitcher at a local store and were really disappointed. Black pieces kept coming out of the filter, even after over a dozen rinse-throughs, and the water tasted terrible. The lid barely stayed on even when we weren't pouring. We returned it hoping to exchange it for another brand. Every store in town carried only the Britta. Finally we searched online for a different brand and found the Culligan. Pours perfectly every time, lid stays on tight even when there's still water in the top, and the water tastes great. I would highly recommend it over the Britta and in general.

Honest reviews on Culligan PIT-1 Water Filter Pitcher

I'm not sure what's expected but I timed the filtering: To filter one full load took 7 and a half minutes. That fills aprox 2/3 of the pitcher which is plenty of water for the dinner table. But I wouldn't call this thing the speed deamon of pitchers.

Bottom Line: It's a good deal for the price, the plastic is somewhat cheap, the lid does have a poor design but totally a non-issue as it will never fall off. buy it.

This pitcher is good for purpose. My water was not that bad but still wanted to use some to get rid of Hg. I hope it is working as expected. Good thing is that it had good sturdy design. This does not include additional filter. There is only one filter in the box which you need to install right away.

Cheap Emile Henry 9" x 9" Square Baking Dish

Emile Henry Square Baking Dish, Cerise Red

Emile Henry ceramic style cookware has been one of those kitchen items that really "changes" things. Before, we were using various types of baking dishes glass, other ceramics, etc. that we bought mainly because of the price. What we have found using Emile Henry "bakeware" is that the same dishes we made in other less quality bakeware comes out significantly better using Emile Henry. So much so that I would say it is not even a comparison. The lasagnes, casseroles, and things as simple as mac & cheese are so much better it is kind of hard to believe really. Emile Henry provides even heating, avoid all the issues with burnt bottoms/tops, cooked on the outside but not the inside, overdoing noodles, etc. I would highly recommend this line of products. Another item that was so much better were the homemade pies and breads. What a difference and well worth th money. The only downside is they are ceramis and somewhat fragile if not handled properly so can chip if dropped or banged hard against something but only to be expected.

There's a good reason why the New York times reviewed this product and tagged it "The Mercedes of Pressure Cookers". This efficient piece of cookware is precision engineered and made in a modern Swiss factory where the best cookers have been made since the safe Durotherm was first developed here. On a visit to the factory we saw a clean, efficient facility which employs re-settled Tibetan refugees and uses robotics to shape these precision pots. The Duromatic factory adheres to high standards of European green manufacturing methods while producing a product as precision made as a Swiss watch.

The proof is in the cooking. We love our Duromatics, and have several in our home. For one thing it is quiet compared to older versions of pressure cookers, and safer due to several safety-release valves. When we cook things like split pea soup and roasted chicken we get perfect results with much less energy, heat, and cooking time than any other method of cookery. Once you cook artichokes this way you will never go back to your old method.

This particular size is ideal for most households and produces a family size meal in minutes. At the end it is all dishwasher safe.

WOW! have been using our Kuhn Rikon for about 5 years & can't imagine life without being able to make bean dishes anytime I want after work. Goodbye soaking, goodbye planning ahead. Hello spontaneous & speedy black-eyed peas, split pea soup & hummous from scratch.

Had been scared of pressure cookers. Lived in France in high school & remember ours exploding every couple of months spewing soup everywhere. Heard they'd "modernized" the cookers & then researched the heck out of all the ones on the market. Took the leap w/ this one because of the redundant safety features. Was terrified to try it the first time, but have never ever ever had it explode even when I've forgotten to turn it down after it got up to pressure (thanks to the automatic safety pressure-release).

And when you first taste how deeply spices penetrate curry dishes, soups and beans -you'll be hooked. Not one ounce of regret for spending the extra $$ for this ultra-safe "BMW-quality" cooker.

Best Deals for Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Top Model 3916 5 Quart Stainless Steel

So, I've never used a pressure cooker (PC) and was a bit afraid. I read about the electric PC's and decided the stovetop model was better because 1) gas is cheaper than electricity 2) no circuit board to break one week out of warranty and 3) I can brown meats in this monster before sealing the top. This is the Rolls Royce of pressure cookers from everything I read so I splurged and spent the money. Over 10+ years, what does $80 mean in all honesty?

Regarding the electric PC's. I read all the reviews and continually found people complaining about sealing problems, faulty buttons, the machine switching from pressure to warming mode, etc. Kuhn Ricon (KR) models have consistently received the most positive reviews, which sealed my decision. I've got enough electric appliances anyway.

As for safety, there is no way this thing is going to blow up unless you are clueless and don't follow simple instructions. If the pressure builds up too much, it automatically releases some steam through the spring-valve, the top of the line technology for PC's. Further, if it gets REALLY high, the rubber gasket is designed to bow outward and allow steam to escape through the side of the lid. In all, KR has five (5) safety features to protect you. Plus, you can't open it when even the slightest pressure remains. I tried to open it early, and no matter how hard I turned the lid, it wouldn't budge. This made me feel safe.

I prepared my first meal last night, lamb, and it turned out perfectly in just 12 minutes. Of course, you have to include 1) prep time (which is true no matter what method you use to cook a meal); 2) time to get to 15psi (about 5 minutes with 1/2 cup of water) and 3) natural depressurization (take it off the heat and let the pressure fall naturally) (this recipe warned against quick or even slow release) which took about 10 minutes. Still, given all this, it still was quicker than a slow cooker, range top, or regular oven (which I don't think would have worked for this recipe anyway).

Once I had the ingredients prepared, I browned the veal on the bottom with a little oil, dumped in the rest of the ingredients, added 1/2 cup of water (mandatory to build up the steam) and sealed it. Sealing is EASY, just line up the arrows, twist, and you're done. Now, I know KR makes models without the long handle and replaces it with two smaller grab handles at either side (model 3403 for example), but the long handle (it has a small grab handle on the other side) provides leverage to help in closing the top. This long handle also helps lift the cooker, as it is quite heavy (this is one solid sucker to be sure) and lifting it takes some effort, especially when full of food. It takes a little extra space to store, but believe me, it's well worth it. I've got plenty of pots with small grab handles, and they always get very hot and provide no leverage for lifting or closing.

This model (3916) has the Duromatic twist top vs. the pop-up type (model 3342 for example). I chose the 3916 because it is designed for people like me, who know nothing and want a little more flexibility in pressure release and pressure monitoring. It is super easy to see when one, then two, lines appear, even from across the kitchen. One line is 8 psi, two lines 15 psi, and if it goes over that, you can easily see that, too, and you know it's time to turn down the heat or remove it altogether until the two lines are exactly even with the top of the lid. Then, place it back. I'm sure with experience I'll learn exactly how low to turn my flame so I don't have to fuss with it. Until then, it's fun experimenting.

It is not Teflon, which is not a big deal to me because 1) Teflon always wears off and 2) it seems to flake when suffering at the higher pressure/temps a PC thrives on. So, it's probably better that it NOT be present. Read reviews of the electric PC's and you'll read a lot of "...the Teflon flakes and is worthless..." comments. Well, as stated, that's because at the temp/pressures achieved, Teflon seems not to hold up very well.

I just soaked mine overnight with soapy water and it cleaned up with a plain sponge.

The instruction manual is very good, with cooking times (general), how to use, and contact information. It has a cookbook with limited recipes, so if you're in this for the long haul, I would suggest Lorna Sass' books, or Miss Vickie's, although something about her irritates me (personal opinion obviously). But strangely, MV did recommend the KR or Fagor brands, so maybe I'll learn to love her.

In summary, this is a quality PC that is easy to use, that you can start cooking/browning/sautéing in (can't do that with an electric model, no matter which brand you get), and that is so safe NASA could take a lesson from KR.

Is it more expensive? Yes, it is. Is my health and safety worth the extra cost? Yes, they are. When you get right down to it, KR makes the best PC in the world (not me speaking, that's the NY Times, Miss Vickie, two independent websites, and even cookware stores I called to discuss different brands). If you want a quality piece of cookware, this is it. If you want to worry about buttons breaking, plugs to trip on, warming cycles when you should be in cooking mode, then spend $100 less and get the Cuisinart 600 series (lousy customer service from personal experience). The choice is yours.

Tonight it's lentil soup. Why not join me?

Honest reviews on Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Top Model 3916 5 Quart Stainless Steel

OK maybe not "life altering," but "diet altering," for sure. I purchased a Kuhn Rikon 3916 Duromatic Top Pressure Cooker, 5-Quart, on December 31, 2011, and have intended to write a review of the thing since the 2nd week that I owned it; the additional experience I've had with this pressure cooker (PC) since then has only reinforced the positive nature of my initial impressions.

Prior to my purchase, I'd developed a fairly long-standing taste for rice and bean dishes of different sorts, and always seemed to be opening [BPA-lined, it turns out] cans of heavily salted, precooked beans. As for the rice, I always seemed to be tearing open boxes of the rapid-cooking stove-top variety (seasoning packet included). I'd also depend on frozen meals for ready-made suppers after a particularly long day. Sure, I tried to pick the healthier brands, but have you seen how much salt those things contain? Eventually, I decided to look into a rice cooker, or slow-cooker for one-pot meals, and accidentally came upon a pressure cooker website. Turns out they're not used solely for canning jams and jellies!

After enthusiastically researching the subject, I ordered this item, and was pleased with the speed and condition it was delivered in very well and securely packaged. I immediately rinsed it off/out, and dove into the instruction manual in preparation for cooking a small roast with the usual vegetable suspects, to be cooked in two stages (roast first, then the vegetables). Please note that PCs hiss, spit, and whistle a little bit as small amounts of steam are released in order to maintain the correct pressure, but I didn't know that and thought something was wrong with the unit. I immediately called the manufacturer using the US-based "help" number provided in the manual, and had a very pleasant and humorous conversation with a Kuhn Rikon representative, who patiently answered all my questions. Thirty minutes or-so later, I was having a relatively decent meal.

I overcooked the roast; the vegetables were perfect.

Approximately 6 months later, and I can report that I've neither purchased nor consumed a frozen meal, or opened more than a few cans since I began using the KR Duromatic Top PC; on average, I probably cook with it at least 3 times/week, if not more so. It takes me longer to chop up a cabbage than it does to cook it same w/ various types of squash and root vegetables. I do still get carryout Thai food from time to time don't get me wrong but for quick meals/meal components comprised of various vegetables and/or legumes, this pot cannot be beat in terms of ease-of-use, speed, and convenience, and I'm probably eating healthier. More often than not, I'll cook-up enough of everything for several meals; I will say that folks at work have been impressed with the quality of my leftovers.

I have a ceramic-topped electric range, and though it takes a little experimentation to find the proper temperature settings and control response times, I can comfortably walk away from the kitchen once I've reached pressure, though I do set a loud timer and am always within hearing of the stove-top. So far, the seals and everything else are holding up fine, and about the only maintenance I've had to perform to date has been regular washing, the occasional oiling of the main gasket, and a light scrubbing on the inside of the pot with a steel-safe cleaner to remove mineral deposits. The item itself seems just as solidly constructed as the day I received it, and I view it as one of my better purchases; in fact, I'm sometimes a little embarrassed at how enthusiastically I recommend this product and method of cooking to my friends, family, and colleagues.

A couple of quick words of advice to any first-time PC users, if I might humbly offer them: since you're usually dealing w/ short cooking times, especially for vegetables, it's far better to err on the side of cooking something for too short a time rather than too long, and it helps to take notes once you've discovered the right times/settings. Also, there are lots of helpful websites out there offering preparation guidelines just execute a search for "pressure cooker timing" and you'll be led to some quality resources. I'll sometime cross-check the food I'm preparing from one site to another, then start with the shortest cooking time listed, if there's any variation. Finally, I find that the 5-quart size is perfectly fine for a good meal for 2-3 people, or for several meals for one person. It seems that it's far easier (and safer) to cook a small amount in a large pressure cooker than to cook a large amount in a small one, so it's best to "size up" rather than to purchase one that's too small.

Alright enough. I apologize for the interminable blathering on my part, but as I mention above, my enthusiasm for this PC and the method of cooking in general sometimes makes me carry on a bit.

Bottom line: for what it's worth coming from me, I wholeheartedly recommend the Kuhn Rikon 3916 Duromatic Top Pressure Cooker, 5-Quart size.

I came back from a trip to Italy in which I saw a chef on TV using fine tipped tongs and decided I had to have them.

I found these at a local kitchen shop that carries Rosle utensils.

These are in use daily in my home. They are by far the best for flipping bacon,

scallops, prawns, getting olives from jars, and that piece of shell out of the frying egg, etc. etc.

My husband now wants a pair of his own. We have also used them on several occasions in non-kitchen applications. i would recommend them to everyone, and have given them as gifts several times now.

I've found this very useful for turning food on the skillet --the small size of the tip makes for very good grip on small items of food.

Best Deals for Rösle 12925 Fine Tongs

Simple, effective, easy to clean, and grips thin food very securely. I like the lack of a lock. The good part is it doesn't lock when I least expect it. For storage I use a rubber band to keep it closed.

Honest reviews on Rösle 12925 Fine Tongs

These are nice tongs and they seem to be well made, but I chose to buy them instead of a cheaper pair because these ones are "Designed and engineered in Germany". I took that to mean that they were made in Germany. These are in fact made in China. That shouldn't be too surprising, since almost everything is, but I think it's rather misleading for them to point out that they're "engineered in Germany" and not mention that they're made in China. So while these are nice tongs, there are cheaper alternatives which should work just as well.

A most useful tool for working with any kind of poultry. Very handy for cutting away the backbone. Goes quickly through poultry skin and soft bones ... cuts easily and better than a knife. Great product. After washing it, make sure it's thoroughly clean and dry before closing and storing away to avoid any rusty parts.

I'm fairly certain that most positive reviews for these shears were written shortly after purchase/first use. The steal spring rusts quickly, affecting the ability of the shears to open and close and making them ineffective and even unsafe to operate. On top of this problem, the locking mechanism on the shears becomes "sloppy" after some use, frequently locking the blades without the user touching the locking mechanism. Overall a poor set of shears and a disappointing set given how well Henckels' knives perform.

Cheap Fox Run Fox Run Aluminum Pierogi Maker

Fox Run Fox Run Aluminum Pierogi Maker
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

We've had one of these forms for several years along with 1 other form without the plastic insert. This is the very best!!! The plastic insert makes perfect depth pockets in the dough after you roll it out. This eliminates accidental rips in the dough when you just press the filling into a plain mold. We loved this so much we purchased a spare for ourselves and one for each of our adult children. Makes beautiful sized and crimped pierogis no matter the filling used.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This maker/press is one of the coolest inventions!! It makes making pierogies a breeze. If you use this press along with a dough roller such as a KitchenAid Mixer attachment it's even easier to make pierogies!!! I posted pictures of different stages in the process of making them with this maker (Amazon did not upload them in order, I re-did it like 3 times and gave up. If you read my caption on the photos it shows which step is which.)

Growing up in a very Polish family I have made pierogies a bunch of times and use my Grandmother's recipe. Making them in years past it was really time consuming having to cut out each Pierogi, fill and seal the Pierogi by hand. I know this is how they did it for generations, but this maker makes the process so much easier!! I can also say that as long as your dough isn't too thin, not one Pierogi will burst open when you put them into the boiling water. This thing SEALS them!! We bought two of these and this is our second year using them. They are awesome. If you roll your dough properly and use this maker properly they will come out PERFECT and it will be less time intensive.

One last note: If you like your pierogies with a lot of filling, this can accommodate that! You just need to be gentle pulling them out of the maker. You basically need to turn the maker upside down and wiggle them out from underneath.

Oh and another side note: The person that rated this product 1 star stating you need to wait until it 'dries' to remove them... since when do you wet the dough?! We used freshly made dough (even sometime sticky dough)and it worked great. They are apparently not using the product correctly!!

Happy Pierogi Making!!

Best Deals for Fox Run Fox Run Aluminum Pierogi Maker

I think this thing is pretty good except the pierogies end up having a lot of extra dough on the sides (still better than ravioli makers). I am from Russia and our pierogies are much smaller when not hand made, but similar in shape. This maker, however, is the closest I could find in the American market for a reasonable price.

The specific model that I received from Amazon, however, isn't entirely straight, meaning when I use my dough roller to put the final pierogies together, the middle part tends to still be slightly mushy, so I end up having to seal the edges in the middle together with my fingers. Not a major ordeal, but kind of defeats the purpose of this instrument. Hence the 4 stars.

Honest reviews on Fox Run Fox Run Aluminum Pierogi Maker

I wondered if the molds would be too large, but they are the right size for Polish pierogi. I added "Polish" even though using the word along with pierogi is a bit redundant. But I had seen another review that commented on "Russian pierogi" and wanted to differentiate. Russian filled dumplings are much smaller than what you get in this six piece mold.

I wondered if the crimped edges would be too thick or wide. No, they are fairly delicate and minimal crimps. I was a bit afraid that having the extra crimp on the long side (the side that is just a fold-over in hand-formed pierogi) would be too obvious. I found the extra crimp to be a non-issue.

One major plus: I found that I could get more filling into a pierog with this mold.

I must say that--as is true with any pierogi-making effort--if your dough is working with you, this is a great product. If your dough is working against you, well, this product will not make the effort any easier. If you've made pierogi before, you know what I mean. I've used this product twice now and thank goodness, (for the sake of this review), the first time I used this mold my dough was cooperating and the experience was a pleasant. The second time I used this mold was more of a struggle. But it wasn't the fault of the mold--it was me and the dough doing battle.

If you make traditional pierogi dough (delicate, soft, thin), you won't need more than one of these molds. It would be hard to roll out enough dough to use two molds at once. (Just multiply the size of this form by four (top and bottom plus another top and bottom) and picture that size rolled out on your counter top.) Personally, I can't keep that much dough stretched out without it drying too much.

Also, if you use a very delicate and moist dough, you might have to use some finesse to nudge the finished pierogi out of the mold. Leaving the mold set for a minute with the pierogi still in it does the trick: After a minute, up-end the mold and the pierogi will fall out.

FYI: To give you an idea of the dough I use: It is too soft to run through a pasta maker.

I'm very glad I finally bought one of these molds; wished I would have done so much sooner.

I bought this steamer for my mother. She bought a cheaper quality steamer that ended up getting little pin holes in the pan itself. What a mess. My mother loves her prize from me. It's good quality & a great size. I totally trust faberware.

I Loved the color of the pans. I love that they all had lids. The only reason I did not give these pans a 5 star is because I do not know what happened to my medium sized pot, but it bent, my lid does not fit on it now, I didn't drop the pan, It was fine when I first cooked with it, my second use of the item I noticed it was bent, maybe it was during my cleaning, but it is very sad because now the lid does not fit on correctly. It would also be awesome if there was a lid for the smaller cooking pan. Other than that, I love this set! But I did notice it was alot cheaper at Wal-Mart after I purchased them online, and that was also disappointing, and I mean almost $30 cheaper. But the set, I like it alot.

It's been 6 months and I LOVE LOVE LOVE these pans. I read reviews that they can't handle the dishwasher and I can't say if they do since I hand wash all my pans and plastic. I also read reviews that the color wipes off even when had washed but I wanted the color so much I took the risk and the color has lasted easily. In fact one time I need to use soft scrub on the outside of the pan from an over flow that cooked on and I was careful at first but quickly realized the color doesn't come as easily as some reviews I read. The non stick has lasted too but I do put a cloth between the pans so when stacked the metal doesn't harm the non-stick. They're a joy to cook in.

At first I was very impressed with this set. They were very pretty. I have had them about 2 months now. Even though I hand washed them like the directions said and I didn't put them in the dishwasher, the copper plated accents have peeled off! As far as function they work OK but they should hold up better than that. I will save up and buy a fancier set next time. If you want something that will hold up, Don't get this set.

I'm not kidding. The 4 qt pot was filled with water and put on to boil. The metal bottom of the pan melted through and dripped onto the electric element, causing flame and sparks. The element cracked and broke in two pieces, the stovetop has little explosion marks all over it. The whole experience was terrifying.
