My wife and I love making homemade pizza from scratch. We make the dough and the sauce from fresh ingredients. We normally use a large version of these pans that you can find just about everywhere but we always had several pieces leftover. I saw these pans in time for Valentines day and bought them to make a stay at home pizza date night for us. The pans are the perfect size for individual servings and are just enough to eat for us. The non stick coating on them is one of the best I have cooked on and the perforations cook the bottom evenly to make a light crispy crust. They cleaned up in a matter of minutes by hand and stack/store out of the way due to their size. The beautifully browned mini pizzas just slid off of them onto the plate. I cannot recommend this pizza pan set highly enough! One note: because of the wonderful non stick coating PLEASE wait till you get the pizzas on the plate to slice them. Make that coating last!

We like to make personal pizzas with the kids and until now we've just cooked them on aluminum foil on a cookie sheet. That worked fine, but one day Amazon recommended these pans and I took a flyer on them. So glad I did. The difference in the crust is night and day. Now our pizzas come out with a perfect golden, crispy crust. We were all amazed at what we'd been missing.

These pans are wonderful. I make pizzas in them and put them in the freezer and when I am ready to eat pizza I just take one out of the freezer and put it in my toaster oven. The directions that I received with the pans indicated that the pans shoud not be oiled but the first set that I made stuck to the pan so now I just spray the pans with Pam and the pizzas just roll right off when I am ready to eat them. I also use these in my Secura Halogen oven rather than using the toaster oven. This is a wonderful product and well worth the price.

So far these pans are great! Just the right size for everyone to make theirs just how they want. Pizza does not stick and crusts come out great! They wash up very nice as well.

I absolutely adore this griddle, and I use it almost every day.

At first, I wasn't sure that I wanted a cast iron griddle. They are HEAVY and not dishwasher safe . . . so I tried a few nonstick brands first --top dollar brands with high ratings.

I hated them. The nonstick surface was inferior. On a reversible griddle, the underside became sticky and difficult to clean. The heat was distributed unevenly. One claimed to be dishwasher safe, yet when I put it in the dishwasher, some of the nonstick surface came off.

I am extremely health conscious, and I use very little oil when I cook. Food often stuck to the "non-stick" surface -go figure.

I wanted to find a great griddle that I could use for many things, including cooking like the chefs in Japanese Steak Houses -I dreamed of using a small dash of my favorite oil and flinging shrimp, chicken and veggies on the griddle like a pro. No, I didn't think I could toss my tools in the air or catch the shrimp in my pocket . . . I just wanted the flavor and the ease of cooking.

By this time, I was on a quest, and the non-stick stuff just wasn't cutting it. I did a little research, and I learned that pros recommend the Lodge griddle, so despite my apprehension, I thought I'd give it a try.

Wow! The pre-seasoned surface is perfect and better than any non-stick surface I have ever used. Just a tiny bit of non-stick spray is all I need, and everything from pancakes to eggs flip with ease. Grilling Japanese style works perfectly.

On the grill side: whole steaks, chicken, fish -fabulous, fast, and everything has those beautiful grill lines. Nice for grilled vegetables, too.

The griddle is indeed heavy, but it's okay. I wouldn't recommend lifting it if you have serious muscle or joint problems, and I wouldn't want to drop it on my foot, but otherwise, go for it. I'm a softie, and if I can handle it, so can you.

As for not being able to put the griddle in the dishwasher: I don't believe I'm going to say this, but I don't care about having to handwash it. The griddle cleans so easily, a few swipes and I'm done. If I forget to clean it and wake up to it the next morning (okay, so I'm not Suzy Homemaker), I just lay it straight across the top of my sink -not IN the sink, but rather, balanced from edge to edge, on top . . . and I run a little water over it, let it set for a few minutes, and it's easy to clean.

A word of advice: Just as it says in the instructions, you need to clean the griddle without soap (water only) to preserve the pre-seasoned finish. However, should you want to use soap, you can. There are instructions included in how to re-season the griddle -it's easy.

I frankly didn't like the idea of not cleaning with soap. I didn't feel as though the germs were destroyed . . . but soap doesn't really kill germs, it merely works as a surfactant that makes water wetter so things become easier to clean.

If you want to kill germs, heat is one of the best ways to do it. Every time you use the griddle, you preheat it on the range for about five minutes or so -you're killing far more germs than if you had used soap!

You can also rub your griddle with a very light coating of oil, stick it in a hot oven and disinfect it that way (this is also similar to how you reseason it).

This is one of the easiest, most wonderful kitchen tools I own. It is a breeze to use, I feel like a pro flipping all that food around. Everything comes out great, and it is very easy to use, and food does not stick.

I have since added six more pieces of cast iron to my collection, one triangle cornbread/scone, a round muffin/biscuit, and four cast iron skillets. Two of the skillets are antique -talk about well-seasoned! I do not use the bread/muffin bakers as much as I thought I would, but I use the skillets almost every day. I love them.

PS: I remember reading somewhere that using cast iron also adds iron to your diet -not sure how true or how much, but if it does, it is a nice extra, yes?

Goodness I see two chief complaints posted here: First, some people say it's heavy. Well, yes, it is. It's over 200 square inches of iron, folks. The weight is clearly advertised, so I'm having a hard time understanding this complaint. The second complaint some have is uneven heating. Lodge could fix that all they have to do is make it thicker and much heavier, and even more people would be unhappy about the weight.

Since the number of comments about the weight and the uneven heating seem about equal, I'd say Lodge did a great job of hitting a happy middle ground. Personally, I count on a little uneven heating, I'll sear breakfast chops on one end over a high burner and flip eggs on the other over a lower burner I've even been known to run mine on just one burner, cooking on one end and warming on the other. When I was a grill cook, that's how I ran my grill, hotter at one end. You also have to allow for some "settle time" for cast iron compared to aluminum, it's a fairly slow heat conductor, which gives cast iron it's wonderful thermal stability. But it takes time for the heat to distribute, so give it a few minutes.

I can't comment on the factory coating I strip and season the cooking surfaces on all my iron, new or used. I made one modification to mine, which Andrew pointed out I took a dremel and ground a shallow notch in the outer lip of one end of the grease gutter to help pouring the grease out if you do this, be sure to smooth the edges of the notch to avoid heat stress cracks they love to start at sharp corners and don't make it too deep just a small notch makes a big difference when dumping grease.

While I'm at it I'm a heretic a blasphemer an apostate. My confession? I sometimes clean mine with soap to be more precise, detergent, which most modern dish soaps actually are. I think the "no soap" thing is a bit of mythology that's come down to us from Great-Grandma, whose dish soap was basically lye and some type of animal fat (my grandma used bacon grease for her soap). So yeah, maybe lye soap was a bad idea, but it had a very different chemistry from today's dish detergents, and as far as I can tell, modern detergent won't touch the baked-on grundge on the bottom of my aluminum and enamel cookware, and they don't touch my properly seasoned iron either. I do always make sure to rinse very thoroughly, and re-oil after cleaning, however, as that thin film of oil is life to cast iron.

I love this grill on the cooktop, but if you want to see this beauty at it's best, and you have at least a 20" charcoal grill, set it on your charcoal grate and have some fun. I don't think mine ever cooled off during the week or so after hurricane Charley, while we had no electricity. I had stocked up on hardwood charcoal before the storm, and as my neighbor's fridges warmed, and their freezers thawed, they kept bringing me food to cook before it spoiled and of course, they shared with the cook. The neighbors saved some of their food, the Lodge grill got quite a workout, and my family ate very well!

It's a well-made product. It's American. And it's a great value. What's not to love? Just don't drop it on your foot did I mention it's heavy?

Best Deals for Lodge LPGI3 Pro Grid Cast Iron Grill/Griddle

With all the reviews raving about this griddle, I was quite excited about my purchase. I had planned on using this on my gas range over two burners for cooking pancakes and such. The dimensions of my burners seemed to be a great match for the size of the griddle, but it turned out to be unusable. I returned it.

On many gas ranges this griddle will not lay flat, but will be tippy and unstable. The reason for this is the handle cutouts on the griddle. It is a little hard to explain so I have uploaded a video to illustrate.

If it weren't for the cutout handles, this griddle would be perfect and would work on a much larger set of stove top ranges. However, the current design limits its use for many potential users.

Other than that, the quality appears good. I have several other Lodge products and have been happy with them.

Update: I didn't measure the dimensions between the inside edges of the handles before I returned it. This would be helpful those considering this griddle. If anyone has this griddle, if they could post this measurement in the comments, that would be great.

Honest reviews on Lodge LPGI3 Pro Grid Cast Iron Grill/Griddle

I just received my griddle last week and I've been using it daily with excelent results every time. Mine arrived with a few minor scratches on the preseasoning but all of them seem to be disappearing quite soon (I spray a little pam all over the griddle before using it). I cooked some hamburgers on the grill side which turned out delicious and they got those great grill marks on them also. I've had no sticking problems at all with this thing so far. Cleanup is easy providing you have a stiff brush, a large sink and the strong arms required to carry it from the stove to the sink every time you wash it (this thing weighs 15 pounds). I highly recommend this griddle to anyone, it's very well constructed and looks like it will last a lifetime with proper care.

When I received my Lodge grill/griddle a few days ago, I was stunned with how just plain beautiful it is. It is going to sit on my stove all the time, across the burners on one side, probably with the grilling side up to remind me that I can grill anything any time I want to.

I've never had a double-burner grill before, so I've experimented with turning on one or both burners; setting the burners on different settings; and cooking foods one normally would not cook on a grill on the grill side (eggs this morning, along with the bacon).

There is no better way to get the hang of cast iron cooking than to cook eggs. If you've got the seasoning right and the temperature right, you've got the best non-stick egg-cooking surface in the world. If you don't have it right and the eggs stick, just scour the pan with one of those dark green pot-scrubber pads (no soap!), rinse well, rub in some oil with your fingers or a napkin, and try again. If you don't cook something very acidic like tomato sauce in/on your cast iron, it will get so splendidly non-stick you will think you died and went to heaven.

I used my eggs-on-the-grill experiment to get a feel for the best temperature for the piece with only one burner on. The first time I did it, the eggs hardly stuck at all...so that's a great testament to the pre-seasoning.

What's nice is that, even when using only one burner, the entire piece heats up, so when you've finished cooking something on the side with the hot burner, you can move it over to the other side (the one with the burner off) and the food stays beautifully warm while you cook something else. I haven't tried pancakes on the griddle side yet (because I'm in the early stages of Atkins' diet), but I can tell this would be super for cooking up stacks of nice, warm, perfectly cooked pancakes.

When I first got it, it did smoke a good bit; I think this is because I had the heat too high...or maybe it just needed to smoke a little to settle it down. It's not smoking now.

I know this is a rambling review...I really just wanted to say this is a beautiful piece and I'm very happy to have it in my kitchen.

This is one sturdy pan--be ready for a bit of heavy lifting if you're going from stove to oven, because it takes two hands. I knew I wanted a cast iron skillet for frying and other things, and knew I wanted it to be a heavyweight (because that's how good cast iron skillets should be), and decided on this one because I liked the looks and the pouring lip, and Cuisinart tends to be reliable. It has a sorta high price tag, but from what my grandmother told me, a good cast-iron skillet will last forever, so I dove in. And so far, it's been more than worth it. Not just for chicken frying, though the straight tall sides make it great for frying (I've tried a couple things, chicken, hushpuppies, and zucchini and all have come out nice an hot and crisp), but also for making things from browning a ton of onions, to simmering a sauce, to making a big curry for about 10 people. It's just a workhorse of a pan, and the ability to drop it in the oven (using both hands, don't forget) to finish off a dish is very helpful. Oh, and it does look great (I have red) on the stove, too, which is a bonus. Overall, I'd suggest this pan to anyone, whether they want to use it to fry chicken or not. It's an investment that you'll be using for many years.

I picked up one of these babies about a year ago and the previous reviewer is right she's a workhorse. I make big stews and meat/rice dishes in this and its great. Sautée the chicken for Arroz Con Pollo and then throw in the chicken stock and rice and toss the chicken back in and simmer for 40 minutes perfection. Very even distribution of heat it takes a few minutes to heat up but its nice and DEEEEEEEP. You can really fill it with food. It practically acts as a second Dutch oven. Want some amazing roasted root vegetables? Skin 'em, chop 'em, and throw them in this baby in the oven at 300 degrees (with that nice heavy cover on) for 1 hour. Absolutely delicious. Sweet and rich and flavorful. The heavy iron nature of the cover and pan ensure the inside turns into a sauna and stays that way. You almost have to be careful not to overcook food with the top on. Once this baby warms up, turn the heat down to medium low and let her do the rest. Its like a mini-stove all to itself. But you better workout. This sucker tips the scales at close to 35-40 pounds with the cover on, I'm guessing. Its ROBUST. I'll die before this thing does. Ever dent a pan by dropping it? Not this daddy. You'll dent your floor first. Mind your feet, this thing would shatter them. Built to LAST. One of the best things I've ever spent my money on. I have an 8 inch too. That's just as bulletproof, but it didn't come with an iron lid. Not cheap but worth every penny.

One tip heat it up a little and use a nylon scrub brush to clean it. Otherwise it'll be a pain to clean.... And mind the temp! No high heat required here!

I am not certain if Amazon is getting second-hand or reconditioned products, but both the Cuisinart pieces I received have been flawed--chipped or dented in places. I kept this piece because it was only slightly dented/flawed but I returned the 7 quart Cuisinart pot because the enamel was peeled off on the outside. I have reordered the 7 quart pot hoping that I can receive one in good condition. I prefer Le Creuset but the margin for the brand name is outrageous. I have two Le Creuset pieces and they have lasted for five years without damage though.

I had a good experience with the order. I have always wanted a set of cast iron enamel cookware. I personally like the Cuisinart products. All my small appliances are Cuisinart and I have always liked them. I have used this brand for at least ten years.

This is a very smart design. It folds up flat and takes up a lot less space than the traditional circular toaster. The cooking grid heats up rapidly, much like a camp heater. Your toast will be done in no time with this gadget. And the plastic bag insert and little carry pouch make using this a breeze. I highly recommend this product.

This toaster is quite practical, easy to store and fast at toasting. It's convenient for toasting one piece at a time.

The design is nice, somewhat slick. Also, it comes with a convenient case to store it.

However, the one that I've got looks like a return... the cut on the grid is badly done, and the structure is too loose ...it doesn't quite stay 'unfolded'.

Best Deals for GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Toaster

We've gone through a number of other camp toasters -the kind that hold multiple pieces of toast at angle -and always been disappointed; they took forever to toast and we actually had problems with heat reflections warping our (cheap) camping stove. I bought this on a lark and was amazed.

The GSI toaster holds a single slice but can toast 4 pieces faster than the competition holding 4 slices at once -we've compared on the same stove. It does a better job diffusing heat, so no stove parts warping and paint peeling. It's just better. The one downside is you have to watch your toast carefully to avoid burning it.

Also, we've noticed that the steel mesh on the bottom appears to be hand-cut and might not be perfectly smooth along the side.

This is a great device. We've bought 2.

Honest reviews on GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Toaster

Clever design, folds flat for storage. Takes some practice to get even browning of the bread. It's kinda like popping popcorn ya gotta keep things moving. Definitely for standard sized bread slices or poptarts.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Toaster

I have a 2 burner propane range in the galley of my sailboat. This little toaster is the latest add, and perfect. It folds absolutely flat and stows away in the smallest of spaces.

The bottom of the toaster is draped with a fine metal screen which dissipates the direct heat of the propane flame. The bread actually is toasted by the heat from the glowing red metal screen. The toaster holds 1 slice at a time, no more, no less. The flip out handle didn't get hot and allows for easy repositioning of the toaster.

You have to flip the slice of bread, obviously, but it doesn't take too long. I tried it the other day for the first time and it worked really well. I love the smell of toast in the morning :)

The edge of metal screen on the toaster has some sharp edges that could catch on things, so I make sure to put it back in the little canvas pouch that came with it, to hopefully prevent it from tearing.

I just moved to a new place and needed a set that wasn't very expensive. This definitely fit that criteria. It's pretty thin but serves the purpose well in most scenarios. I went and bought a non-stick skillet as no amount of oil or pam could keep things from getting stuck to the skillet included in this set... I use all the other pieces though and they work perfectly fine.

I only own the pots that you see in the pic here. I use them mainly to make spaghetti and soups and only once have I had my pasta stick to the bottom but that was due to my error. There was a layer of charred food on the bottom but I let it soak for 15 min in warm soapy water and I was able to easily clean it. I have owned it for a year now and the pots have no stains or burn marks whatsoever. The food stays warm for a long while after you have turned off the heat and frankly, I haven't experienced something negative with this brand.

Yes it is just a large block of wood with slots cut in, but if you have a large collection of Henckel knives and outgrew your block or have a few random knives you would like to store together with your set, then this block is the way to go. Looks good on the counter, knives go in on their side, room for a medium cleaver, steel, and shears, as well as 8 steak knives.

I love my new knife block. I read many reviews and looked a different types for a long time before I decided on this particular model. I have a wonderful collection of Cutco knives (the best, in my opinion) and wanted to get all of them in one block. This fits the bill. The slots are large enough to accommodate my largest butcher knives and the Santoku knives and I have room for all my steak knives in the lower section. The block is well-finished and not so large that it takes up too much counter space.

Best Deals for Zwilling J.A. Henckels Extra Large 22 Slot Design Hardwood Knife

Finally a knife block the holds all my knives. This block is sturdy and holds all knives from a set plus the few extras all cooks have laying around.

Honest reviews on Zwilling J.A. Henckels Extra Large 22 Slot Design Hardwood Knife

After moving in with my fiancee, we went through the arduous process of melding two households into one. One of the things both of us had were high end J.A. Henckels knives that both of us purchased while stationed in Germany. I also had a cheapo set of everyday knives that were ultimately donated. So, we had all these knives, but only a knife block for 8 knives.... So what do we do? Luckily, Amazon sells the Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin 22-Slot Knife Storage Block for a really good price! We originally debated between this block and the Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin 26 slot Bamboo Swivel Blockbut the swivel was the deal breaker. When I received the package, I was thankful we didn't go with the 26 slot block because this thing is absolutely HUGE! I just really hadn't expected it to be that big. That's not a negative, just stating that it's a lot larger than I thought it would be.

Other than that, the block has all of the slots I need, and I even bought the matching steak knives for my set to go along with the new knife block. It's very sturdy and holds everything nicely. If I had to give a con for the knife block, the only thing I could come up with is that it does not cook, chop, or cut for you... But it sure does look pretty sitting on the counter!

I own 12 pieces of Demeyere cookware and love every piece. They clean up beautifully. You can run a hot pan under cold water immediatly after use. You can cook a steak or chop oil free and the pan releases it when its seared perfectly. I sold the stuff years ago and won or bought pieces at cost. I also own All-Clad, Calaphon, and Le Creuset. Demeyere blows it all away. The heat conductivity is even all across the pan. Wonderful stuff.

This is a fine piece of cookware and also a great way to display your prepared meal for a party or nice dinner with friends/family. It is nice and thick and heavy so that you can evenly cook a large portion of food. We have used it both for cooking and just as a display platter so in some ways we get double-use out of it.

My biggest complaint is that we don't have enough excuses to use it all the time because we only have 2 small children and 2 adults so it is sometimes too large to use for an everyday meal. I've done eggs, pancakes, bacon and hashbrowns on this although I prefer a carbon steel griddle for these items.

This is so good for a large fresh fish filet to cook it on the stove top or to use this kind of like a paella pan for rice/stir fry types of meals. I love it. 1-star off for being a little thin on the very outside edge surface which dented when I banged it in to the side of my stove, but the cooking surface is very thick and heavy so it cooks evenly.

Best Deals for Demeyere Apollo 13.4- Inch Round Maxigrill

I purchased the Demeyere Apollo Maxigrill for our new induction stove. I carefully seasoned it as advised.Pancakes and French toast stick to it horribly. I don't usually use much oil but even with oil the same results. I called Zwilling who handles Demeyere. It took great patience and effort to finally get a human and he didn't seem very interested. Just told me the heat was too high and that if the food stuck it meant it wasn't cooked!!!! Nevertheless, I tried again, at lower heat, with the same sad results. It took me three days of leaving messages to get a call back. He said that they had so many people calling that it always took a while to return calls!!!! Hmmmm. Then I learned that though they will pay to have the griddle sent back and checked...they NEVER do refunds. SO! I am pretty unhappy. Maybe a meat-eater will be happy with this product but I, as a vegan, am most unhappy and disappointed in what should be a top-of-the-line piece of cookware.

They should have said it was for cooking meat.

OXO Good Grips Rolling Pin
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I have to admit that I was surprised when the rolling pin arrived. I'm used to OXO quality, but this is over the top. It is a big rolling pin, with an ideal diameter. It is also heavy. It's heft helps keep it where it belongs, instead of bouncing around on the dough and making you work harder. It has a strong axle, which glides remarkably smoothly, even when the pressure is on. The hard non stick surface works very well, and does not pick up butter grease like some other coatings. The handles are simply the best I have have encountered. This is a very well designed kitchen tool that fully lives up to the "Good Grips" promise of quality.

This is a good, solid rolling pin. Everyone loves a heavy rolling pin, but I find this one to be TOO smooth. Dough sticks to it like crazy, and you'd be better served by getting a simple (and cheaper!) wooden rolling pin that lets you spend more time rolling out dough and things instead of trying to peel off the huge pieces that are sticking to it.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)This smooth rolling, hefty, nonstick rolling pin is perfect for the avid baker. I've been coveting a ball-bearing rolling pin for years, but the expense has always stopped me. Now OXO has introduced a more reasonably priced nylon-bearing pin that does not adhere to dough the way wood does and is not as heavy as a marble one. The result is an ease of rolling that will make you wonder why you didn't get this sooner. It is easy to clean by hand, or, if you have room, in the dishwasher.

Highly recommended for serious bakers.

Honest reviews on OXO Good Grips Rolling Pin

As mentioned above, I wavered back and forth on this item because the Amazon reviews were all over the place.

I needed a rolling pin right away and I needed it to work. I wasn't going to have time for a practice run. I grew up on a wooden rolling pin so I had my heart set on a JK Adams. Bed, Bath, and Beyond assured me that they had the JK Adams line in stock. That proved to be a lie, so with much apprehension I selected the Oxo pin.

My experience with the Oxo rolling pin:

The dough I was using was a very moist gingerbread cookie dough. It makes very soft cookies but my friend warned me that rolling it was tricky due to its sticky nature.

I floured the dough on both sides and rolled it out without a problem. This pin takes a light touch. The person who assisted me had trouble with the last round of "scrap" dough. Since the dough had more flour in it by this time, she should have had an easier time, but she was very rough and heavy with the pin. So it is my guess that it was how she rolled the dough out. I think any rolling pin would have given her the same issue with that approach to that particular dough.

So in spite of the spotty reviews on Amazon, the pin I purchased locally worked like a charm. Maybe it is technique and approach to rolling that makes the difference with this pin. I also had the advantage of reading all the reviews before using the product, so automatically knew I might need to alter my "rolling skills".

I noticed that the one star reviewers were using the pin on dense sticky dough (pie crust) and dense, elastic dough (pasta). After using the pin on a soft but sticky dough, I can imagine that this pin might not be suitable for these types of dough because 1) the pin has very little friction and 2)these types of dough require some force but cannot take too much flour for rolling or they get tough.

I'll update my review when I use the rolling pin with pasta and with pie crusts.

I own many Oxo kitchen products and this rolling pin is a great example of why I do. It lives up to the name of good grips in two different ways. First, the handles fit perfectly in your hands and are easy to hold onto, even if your hands are floured or covered in dough. Second, the pin itself seems to do a good job of gripping the dough. The heft of it makes it easy to roll out even stubborn doughs to the desired thickness without tearing the dough. Best of all, I have no problems with sticking. Even if I do not grease my pin (though I do flour it lightly) even the trickiest doughs slide off easily. I've used it for everything from pizza dough to sugar cookie dough to dog biscuit dough. It's great for everything.

It's also noting that even though there is a little heft to it, it's still not unbareably heavy. I have no problem working with it or cleaning it. The only thing I have noticed is that if I wash it in the dishwasher it seems to take on water so I have to be careful when removing it otherwise it leaks a significant amount of water on the floor.

Overall this is an excellent all purpose rolling pin and one I would recommend to anyone who enjoys cooking and baking and wants high quality kitchen tools.

I just received this skillet this afternoon. It's a hefty little pan, with an excellent non-stick cooking surface. The pan is about an eight of an inch thick.

The product dimensions are way off, however. The pan itself is actually 6" x 9", and the handle is 7" long. The height of the pan is approximately 1-3/4 inches.

If you were to go by the product dimensions that are given, then you would be looking for a larger pan. This is not a large pan.

Exception is no lid, otherwise this pan fits perfectly on top of the stove with a much larger pan on adjacent burner because of its oval shape. Depth of pan makes it useful for 99% of items cooked. Clean up is a breeze, just wipe clean with paper towel or rinse in soap and water. Size stores easily.

Got them for less than $50 for the set, so I wasn't really expecting much from them. Just wanted something to cook with for 2 people for the first 2-3 years as a newly wed. I couldn't be more wrong. These babies survived an overseas move, are double-clad underneath so they don't warp even at high settings on a glass-top stove, totally oven safe (the pans double as baking dish for dinner rolls or monkey bread,)sear meats without burning it, and resist rusting ( I often cook late in the night so clean up is usually for the day after.) If it does start showing some stains or rust, I just clean it up with vinegar and baking soda paste, and presto, it's like new again. I wish they make wider and bigger pots, too, to add to my set. Could have paid more with this quality.

I was expecting them to stick, but to my surprise they did not. I am so impressed I am going to purchase a second set.

I have had my Berndes Dutch Oven since 1995 and I wouldn't know what to do without it. I use it for everything, from making Spaghetti Sauce to home-made jam. Never have I burned any types of sauce and cleanup is a cinch. You can't forget that they honor their Lifetime warranty. All you do is send the pot back with a $10 shipping and handling fee and a new one is in the mail.

My parents got one as a Christmas present, and the first time they used it, the lid shattered in the oven afer 20 minutes. Our UK supplier, ICTC, say that Berndes don't insure the lids, only the pan. They also say it would ONLY explode if the screw in the top was overtightened, and went on to imply that this could only have happened after it left the factory. No consideration that it might have been faulty, and basically implying "they're fine, you must have broken it". Poor customer service on a potentially dangerous product.
