Just the usual absent-minded type of person which, of course, is bad in the kitchen. But now I can be sure of not burning down the house or at least not ruining any more pots. I can't abide whistling tea kettles, so this was a great find. And if there is a simple design, tell me, because the simpler is always better. Thanks.

The ceramic pot minder definitely does its indicated job, yet makes a whole lot of ruckus banging around in the pot while doing so.

I used to have a Brazilian ceramic tool to place in pans to avoid that boiling water overflows when you are not paying attention, but I lost it. I tried this Canadian one it helps a little, but does not really stop the overflow. If my memory does not fail me, it is smaller and thinner than the Brazilian, and the high boil makes it shake, make noise, but this is it, it needed to be heavier and wider.
