I purchased this strainer for use in stock making where it performed quite well. I first used a regular mesh strainer to remove the larger bits and then proceeded with the extra fine strainer perched over a 12qt stock pot. I gave a final pass with this item laced with a good double-folded cheese cloth. The cheese cloth didn't actually catch much, that's how well this extra fine strainer performed. My stock was beautiful and, to my tired eyes, clear. Recommended.

This is a great strainer for a fraction of the cost of the more well known Matfer brand. When I use it to make chicken stock, I no longer need to use cheesecloth. In fact, I can usually do just 1 pass through this bouillon strainer and I'm good to go. Nothing escapes through the extra-fine mesh & with little to no sediment. I also use it to strain homemade yogurt to make a thicker Greek style texture. Just be sure to rinse/wash it immediately to be sure the mesh remains open, especially at the narrow bottom where it's harder to clean. It's a large size & odd shape so storage is a bit awkward. I have mine hanging on a hook over the sink. If you like to make stocks or broths from scratch, or homemade yogurt, you need this essential tool.

Tried cheese cloth and hated the mess. Bought this strainer to make greek yogurt. Works great. Be sure to refrigerate the yogurt for about 4 hours before using strainer. Love it!
