I had been wondering about silicone baking mats for some time but just got around to trying this one. I love the blue color and this SafeDine Silicone Baking Mat did a great job when I used it to bake some cookies. Even though the batter was pretty sticky, the cookies lifted easily off of this mat without any mess. They browned nicely as well. I think I may use it for nachos next because it's so easy to clean and nachos can get pretty messy. I bet it would be good for chicken wings too. All I had to do is wipe it off after backing the cookies. Clean up was much easier than trying to clean up a baking sheet. It's very flexible so while you could use it on it's own, you'll probably want to use a baking sheet underneath it for easier handling and because the weight of the food on the mat would probably make it sag when it's hot. What I'm going to do is replace my two baking sheets with nice shiny new ones and I think, using these mats, they will stay that way. My old ones look like they've been through a war. I've had them for years and the burnt-on stuff just won't come off anymore. It will be nice to have nice clean baking sheets. And I will look like I'm much neater than I really am!
The mat is a generous size, 16-1/8 x 11-3/4 inches and it has markings around the edges with measurements in inches and centimeters (Inches on one side and centimeters on the opposite..) That could come in handy if you want to drop batter in a certain size onto the mat or if you want to measure the size of crackers or breadsticks for any reason. You can heat them up to 446 F. One side is very smooth and the other has a slight texture to it. I'll have to try the other side as well, but the smooth side works just fine for sticky cookies. The mat is BPA free and is all silicone according to the manufacturer. I did the "twist test" where you twist the silicone and see if you can see any white which would indicate fillers. This passed the test with flying colors, only baby blue when I twisted it. It has no odor either out of the package or when it's in the oven. It's somewhat translucent and a beautiful shade of blue. Now how about making these for pizza pans?
I received a review sample of this product from the manufacturer.

(#1 REVIEWER)I love gadgets that make things easier and faster. Silicone baking mat is one of those things. I am attaching photos with the first batch of cookies I made with the silicone mat. They were browned perfectly and evenly. The clean up was absolutely easy, I just needed to run a sponge over the mat to remove the crumbs. And I did not need to use any oil to grease the baking sheet.
The mat is 16 1/8" x 11 3/4" in size, it has inch marking on two sides and centimeter marking on the other two sides to help you space out your goodies on the mat. The mat itself is very flexible, so it cannot be used without a cookie sheet. It is a liner, a replacement for the parchment paper. It fit my baking sheet very well as you see in the photos. The baking did take a little longer. Normally my oatmeal cookies take 13 minutes at 375 degrees, with the silicone mat it took 20 minutes at 375 degrees.
This mat is made out of 100% silicone, it is BPA free. It had no odor out of the package, as well as after baking. It can be used in the oven, as well as microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and freezer. It is heat resistant to 446 degrees Fahrenheit (230 degrees Celsius). It should not be use as a cutting surface as it is soft and can be damaged by the knife.
In addition to use it as a liner for baking, I use it on my counter top instead of a trivet. When I need to rest a hot pan on something it gives me a nice big target area.
I received this mat for evaluation and review from the manufacturer with a request for an honest review, but it positive or negative. I have found this mat easy to work with, it gave nice even results, and I plan to use it on regular basis. I recommend it to others.

Best Deals for SafeDine Silicone Baking Mat (Set of 2), Translucent Blue Nonstick
My wife and I received our baking mat a few weeks ago, and she tried it out by making some Brazilian-style cheese bread (Pão de Queijo). For comparison's sake, she baked two batches, one on the SafeDine baking mat and the other on a Silpat baking mat. Both batches turned out tasty, but she found that the batch baked on the SafeDine mat yielded better browning of the bread in less time. The SafeDine label has instructions to reduce baking times by 5 minutes, so it seems this speedier browning is likely due to better heat conduction. The SafeDine is a bit thinner than the Silpat (perhaps explaining the differences in heat conduction), but otherwise the two mats seem pretty comparable. They both have excellent non-stick properties, are easy to clean, and are easy to store. I'm not sure about the Silpat, but the SafeDine is BPA-free, too, which might be of interest to people who have infants or toddlers around.
Next, I'm going to try using the SafeDine as a surface for kneading bread dough. I like to work with wet, sticky doughs, so it'd be great if I can use it as a non-stick surface on which to work.
Overall, I would say the SafeDine mat is a great alternative to the Silpat . . . at less than half the price. It's eligible for Prime shipping, too!
Honest reviews on SafeDine Silicone Baking Mat (Set of 2), Translucent Blue Nonstick
I've tried a couple of silicone candy molds, but never entertained the thought of using a baking mat. Naturally, unless you want to get burned, you'll want to put a solid baking sheet beneath the mat. Silicone does have a slight odor, but the SafeDine didn't have an overwhelming one to turn me off. I washed it in "warm, soapy water" as directed. I didn't make cookies, but rather made some cinnamon buns. Very often they end up much darker than I'd like when I bake them on a cookie sheet. Not this time. They turned out a nice light, golden brown and every so slightly crispy on the bottom.PROS:
~ Made from food grade silicone, 100% BPA free
~ Easy to clean, dishwasher safe
~ Easy to store after use
~ The nonstick surface is perfect for things like dough
~ Even heat transfer when baking
~ Prevents that nasty baked on mess on baking sheets
~ Measurements along the mat edges
~ The heat resistance factor is high at 446°F (230°C)
There are several things about this mat that I like, including the fact that there are measuring guidelines along the edges. Mind you, this is not a pastry mat so you cannot roll your crust to the exact measurements, but if you're an experienced baker you can eye it. This mat would be ideal for rolling or kneading any kind of dough as it in nonstick and nonskid. When I baked the cinnamon buns I noticed that the heat transfer was excellent and done evenly. For example, the bottom of the buns were evenly browned, not dark on one side and light on the other. If you haven't tried one of these mats, you should. It makes baking and cleanup very, very easy.

I purchased these for help in crafting and cooking. Thought the price I paid was perfect for what I was supposed to be getting, 2 mats. Instead I received only one mat. Very upset about this. I have been trying every contact link I can find to get the other mat sent. I love the blue color and it fits my needs perfectly, I just need the second mat that I have already paid for to be shipped ASAP. This is the first issue of this nature I have ever had ordering from Amazon and I hope it is the last. I hope the right person reads this or one of the many other emails I have written about this and fixes it for other buyers.Aside from that, the mat I did receive is awesome. Soft, translucent silicone. I am using it for my crafts and it is perfect for that. I need my second mat to use in my kitchen for baking then I can edit this review to reflect that.
