I received this as part of a set from my husband, who knew I'd been drooling over the Le Creuset lineup for years now. I was initially concerned that with the usable space at roughly 5 1/2" wide by 4" deep, it might be too small to be really useful but was quickly proven wrong it's perfect for heating up a serving of soup or milk for hot chocolate. The lid fits snugly and the steam vent does what it's supposed to, no dripping water everywhere. Cleans up easily with soap and water, the handles are sturdy and stay cool, and the dual pour spouts are genius. Overall, this is a fantastic piece that should last approximately forever...I couldn't be more pleased.

This saucepan has been everything I hoped for. I cook oatmeal for breakfast almost every day, and I swear it tastes better cooked in this pan over my old stainless steel version! The saucepan cleans up well, and it's great for cooking small portions of rice, quinoa, oatmeal, etc.

Here's another great piece of cookware from Le Creuset. I love the size for a small pan, and the fact it has a steam vent in the lid. The Caribbean color is really pretty. I mix and match my Le Creuset colors. I also own a round French Oven in Flame , and a small soup pot in the Chestnut color. All look great together for a cool retro look. Amazon has the best prices, really unbeatable. You won't be sorry with paying more for this cookware.

Honest reviews on Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 1-1/4-Quart Precision Pour Saucepan

First, the color and appearance of this Caribbean blue pot is as beautiful as is shown in the accompanying photograph; its size is right for many purposes; its cast iron construction makes it very sturdy, albeit a tad heavy; and the interior lining of the pot--which is a shiny cream-colored tan that's a nice contrast to the blue--is very well made and usually easy to clean.

Second, I received this item on time, wrapped extremely well, and in perfect condition from the seller.

I have to admit that I have a LeCreuset pot exactly like this one, whose interior HAS chipped (which is why I was looking for another), but I wouldn't negatively judge LeCreuset on the basis of that alone since they generally make very good products, and once I accidentally left that pot on the stove much too long, which easily could have damaged the integrity of its interior.

Because of the weight of the pot, however, I DO wish they'd make a smaller version of it OR that they'd make one of either this size or smaller with a pour spout because there've been times when either pouring SMALL PORTIONS of hot liquid from the pot and/or pouring hot liquid from it into SMALL CONTAINERS without SPILLING was difficult.

Therefore, a word of CAUTION:

BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT OF THE POT AND ITS LACK OF A POUR SPOUT, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT OR ONE OF LECREUSET'S LARGER PANS

FOR SOMEONE WHOSE HAND, SHOULDER, or UPPER or LOWER ARM STRENGTH AND FINE MOTOR SKILLS ARE COMPROMISED. The person might have difficulty GUIDING the pot in the pouring process, and its hot contents could SPLASH on them rather than going into the intended container. The person might even DROP the pot and its hot contents on themselves. A PERSON COULD BE SEVERLY SCALDED --AND POSSIBLY EVEN BE HURT BY THE WEIGHT OF THE HEAVY POT LANDING ON HIS/HER FEET. These things would especially concern me re: an older person who is living alone, whose body is more fragile and harder-to-heal, and/or who might have difficulty getting help in the event of either of such injuries.

On the other hand, if only fine motor skills are a problem, and expense is not, LeCreuset DOES make a relatively light-weight large-mouthed ceramic mixing bowl with both a spout and a handle in this same color. I don't know if a person can cook over a BURNER with it, but a he/she COULD conceivably cook over the stove with this pot and then pour its contents into this large-mouthed mixing bowl with a spout. Thus, large motor movements could be used with this relatively heavy pot, while fine motor ones could be accomplished with the lighter, more easy-to-lift-and-guide bowl with the handle and pouring spout.

In summary, apart from the concerns mentioned above, this pot is a very well made and comes in a variety of beautiful colors-Caribbean blue being a color that OTHER makers rarely carry in their line of pots and pans. I've been impressed with both the quality and appearance of LeCreuset's products [epecially their little cocottes!!]. They seem to be well constructed, made of solid, sturdy materials, come in beautiful and sometimes hard-to-find colors, and are often made in unusually nice shapes and sizes. Thus, they are not only useful and well-crafted, but beautiful. Apart from the concerns that I already mentioned, I would recommend this product and most any LeCreuset product to anyone.

Bravo to everyone involved in this transaction: to LeCreuset for making a great product; to the seller for charging a fair price, packaging the product well, and shipping it quickly; and finally to Amazon for the "trust factor."

I would especially recommend buying through Amazon if you like the convenience of shopping on-line or it's hard to get what you're looking for in your area. For example, even in stores that carry LeCreuset, this particular color of blue is sometimes hard to come by since I think it may be partially discontinued.

If you've never done business with Amazon before, compare seller's prices for the same item since a few sellers greatly over-price their products. Also compare the ratings seller have received from their Amazon buyers, as well as the individual statements they've made about them re: customer satisfaction. Finally, carefully read the descriptions sellers give re: used items since they may allude to, but perhaps purposefully not be clear about their product's defects. Most sellers are reputable, however, and in the rare instance that you DO have a legitimate complaint about a purchase or a seller's "full and adequate disclosure" of their product's weak points, you can trust Amazon for "service after the sale," adequately looking into the situation, and making things right. That's what I meant by Amazon's "trust factor."
