So the KitchenAid motor isn't as finely tuned as a Lexus or Acura as it's more than a little noisy; however, the KitchenAid uses less gasoline and puts out fewer fumes.
The relative light weight of the polycarbonate pitcher and large mixing area at the bottom of the blending chamber seem to make for fewer hotspots and less clumping in mixing & blending pastes and solids. The pitcher is very well constructed and forms an effective shield to prevent leaks from getting onto the metal couplings on the main unit. With a nicely designed spout it also enables pouring of its contents much more easily than some of the expensive glass pitchers. The polycarbonate pitcher is so much lighter than the heavy glass and since it is better balanced over a wider base it is less likely to be knocked over.
My two complaints about this unit are:
1) noisy
2) the removable insert within the lid doesn't lock into place very well and pops out a little too easily during handling
It appears to be a very solid machine and is a great replacement for our heavy glass

Had this blender for about a year but only used it about 10 times. Yesterday my daughter was using it to mix batter for a new crepe maker. After about 2 minutes all the lights started blinking and it stopped working. I let it cool down for a few hours thinking it might work again but no luck. I bought this more expensive blender because the cheaper Oster we had before burned out trying to make waffle batter. This blender is probably great for mixing drinks and other light liquids but it can't handle the heavier stuff.Best Deals for KitchenAid Silver Blender (KSB560CU)
I will agree with other reviews that this blender is loud. I would hold that against this blender if it wasn't so good at what it does. I was looking for a blender that would make great frozen drinks and this fits the bill. The "Crush Ice" button will reduce the largest cubes into a smooth sweet sipper. The base is very substantial and keeps everything in place.I would've preferred one of the other finishes, but price drove me to this model. You won't find a better performing blender in this price range.
