I bought this rack to accomodate some of the pots that were overcrowding my ceiling mounted gourmet rack. This rack is very nice... it looks cute in my small kitchen.. it's well constructed and sturdy. As another reviewer noted, mine also came with the back bar assembled upside down... so in order to complete the assembly required at home I needed to unscrew the thing completely and put it together again...no big deal... it just took me a few minutes. I also agree with the reviewer who said that you cannot hang twelve pots on this rack. It comes with twelve hooks but I see no way in which that amount of pots can fit in this one. It's just too small for that. At the moment I have only 5 items hanging from the rack, all of them shallow items such as a griddle, some skillets and the like.

I think it can accomodate one or two more items... nothing more than that. In terms of sturdiness I really believe the rack can hold the 12 items it is intended for... in terms of space no more than 7. Also be careful when balancing the items on the grid since it's not secured to the rack in any way so if you place a heavy item on one side, it might pull the grid down to the floor. I'd recommend that you keep a heavy pan on the center of the grid to avoid this problem. In a few words, the Half Round Pot Rack is a good buy... just don't expect it to solve your cabinet space problems.

I bought this item to replace a round ceiling-mounted pot rack. I couldn't be more pleased with this wall rack. It is much more stable than my previous rack and it takes up less space. I'm confused by the reviewer's statement that the rack only holds 3-4 pans. I have around 2 dozen pots hanging on mine! I am using all the hooks included with this rack as well as some from my previous pot rack. I could actually hang a couple more, but I'm concerned that the wall may not be able to hold too much more weight. The only problem I had with this rack is assembly. I assembled it alone but I recommend having a helper as it's nearly impossible to hold all the slats in the correct curved position without assistance.

This has to be about the least expensive pot rack. It does sort of look inexpensive and it is really small. I was able to fit only 12 items on it; yes...there are only 12 hooks, not 16 as stated above. Even if there were 16 hooks, I don't know where the extra 4 items would have gone. You get 6 hooks that are sharply angled and 6 that are like cup hooks (curved). I put a 13" heavy grill pan, a wok, 2x 7" omlet pans, 2 x 9" omlets, 2 x 11" omlets, 1 x 1QT revere saucepan, 1 x 2 QT revere suacepan, 1 x 2.1 QT Tfal saucepan and 1 x 3.1 QT Tfal saucepan. The Tfal handles were large and the angled hooks had to be reversed to make it work for me. The whole lot looks pretty crowded, but nice. As for installation, there are absolutely no instructions covering the attachment of the rack to the wall. I got (3) 1.5" screws which I had doubts about, so I used longer screws and anchors on the lower two holes. By the way, if your studs are like mine, they are 16" apart; the lower holes are not 16", but much further, so only the top screw went into a stud and lined up over my window nicely. I would suggest using longer screws since 1 1/2" really means 7/8" if going into a stud through 5/8" drywall. Like I said, it is really packed, so if you have more than I did, get a bigger one, not this one.

UPDATE: I've had this rack for 9 years and still like having it despite the size. I keep a pair of BBQ tongs around just in case I manage to knock a hook off it's normal spot, which does happen a few times a year. I had to mount it pretty high up, so I don't use the shelf for anything since I can't reach it without a ladder. I don't regret getting this item and if the decor calls for a change in the color/finish, I am certain I would be able to find a good spray paint and make the change myself, easily.

Honest reviews on Old Dutch Half Round Pot Rack

I have lots of cast iron, and it was always stacked in a cupboard difficult to maneuver when you wanted the one on the bottom! My husband mounted this rack on the stud over my sink last year and it has since held 6 hefty cast iron skillets and pans, three revereware pans, and a huge nonstick skillet, plus the lids on top of the grid. Bravo!

I have a small kitchen and wanted a way to conserve space. The reason for only 4 out of 5 stars is that it was a bit trickier to put it together and mount on the wall than expected. The metal pieces didn't align perfectly and it took some effort to get everything assembled in a satisfactory manner. When it came to mounting it on the wall, I was able to enlist the aid of a friend who is a carpenter. He knew exactly the best way to attach it to the wall, which is a good thing since the instructions didn't offer any advice on that subject. Other than these difficulties, the rack looks very nice and does exactly what I wanted it to do. I have quite a few pots and pans hanging from it, several of which are heavy stainless steel, and the rack has been holding up perfectly.
