I used this for the first time, a few weeks after receiving it. Can't return it anymore, but I would never buy this again. I was making all of 10 jars of jelly, and the magnet came loose halfway through. How hard can it possibly be to produce a lid lifter/wand??? Gluing in the magnet with heat-proof glue is pretty much the only relevant manufacturing step, and yet, the magnet stuck to the lids, and the stick came up empty.

I wish I hadn't burnt off half the handle of my old $.99 lid lifter...

The ring was broken off in the package. Overall, it is not long enough to reach the lids in the bottom of the canning pot. At least I'm able to use it to keep track of my sewing needles while embroidering.

This is a very simple and straightforward tool for canning... and it is SO useful! I've tried small racks to hold the canning tops, but then one still has to mess with them with one's fingers to get them situated on the jars. This is a big help. It pulls the lids individually, and allows one to position them with no fingers involved. I am a realatively new canner, so the more I can to to keep things sterile, the better! This is very convenient.

Pretty standard quality worked as expected. Nothing fancy but it does lift lids out of the pot keeping my hands safe and my lids clean.
