Just received this set as a housewarming gift from my (supremely generous!) parents, who clearly wanted me to get the best use of the kitchen in my newly purchased home. Mauviel is, to many, the finest name in cookware, and often synonymous with copper pots and pans. Rest assured their 5-ply stainless steel items are of the same quality for which they've become famous. This is the perfect starter set, with a small sauce pot, frying pan and sauté pan. They are sturdy and quite heavy; they feel good in the hands. The handles curve upward where they are riveted to the pot, which is a nice feature and keeps your hands a bit further from the flame. The lids are nice and heavy as well, and fit perfectly the same lid fits both the sauté pan and the frying pan. Although they could probably be considered somewhat "pricey," they seem to be built to last for years decades, even. This makes them a very good buy; instead of spending $100 every five years or so, spend $500 and never have to buy cookware again.
