I was using a corning ware soup mug that also had a vented lid but when you used a big can of soup it was too full for the vent to work and it would erupt like a volcano sometimes. the lid was also filmy and would come unsealed. THis product fixes both of these issues. Even with the large cans of chunky type soup there is a little room to spare to neatly stir and for the vent to let steam escape. I think it must boil over a little in the microwave because soup ends up around the vent clip but it does not make a mess in the microwave which is what matters. The vent snaps on and off completely for cleaning.
the only thing I would prefer is that it were a bit heavier plastic. It is very light weight and feels like I am camping rather than sitting down for a meal. Probably just me. I am not sure if this is microwave save or not but I have learned that these o-ring type containers and the softer plastic of the lid do not hold up in the microwave so I wash it by had.
For what it is, this is an excellent option to heating up a big can of soup.

Full Progresso can... no problem. Full Kirkland/Campbell's soup can (18.6oz), no problem! This cup holds the biggest soup cans in one shot and heats perfectly. The locking clasps just adds that extra level of security that your vegetables and ingredients won't explode all over the microwave while heating. Make sure the top vent hole is open while heating or you will have a huge explosion... BPA free and works like a champ. Very pleased!

I received the soup cup in a speedy fashion. I liked that the cup top has the snap tabs. The other snap containers that I own are great and leak proof. I made a nice hot mug of cocoa. I was not happy to notice that the top leaks through the steam vent at the top of the cup. I thought maybe I didn't seal it good. So I unsnapped the top and re-snapped it. Sure enough it leaks. I will still use this mug at work for tea and such. I just know now that I can't make soup and put it in my bag.

I had surgery on my right arm and I am right handed so I needed something that wouldn't take much effort to use. This was perfect! Of course I made a lot of soup. But I also made hot tea and coco in it. It is perfect. I am also a teacher so I cannot wait to use it for hot lunches at school. Because it will allow me to carry it around by the handle. THE VENTED top is awesome, no splatters, so no mess. I highly recommended it.
