This is decidedly THE most beautiful thing I've ever had on my stove ~

Now, to the complaints folks have had in other reviews as well as my personal observations...

First of all, no tea kettle has ever claimed it won't rust. Any of them will rust eventually if you leave water in it.

The whistle: Nice mellow whistle with a pleasant sound to it. Not the ear piercing shriek of my last kettle that I couldn't possibly miss in a million years. This is the perfect kettle for me but I do have very sensitive ears and anything louder or more shrill would offend me deeply.

My last one (same bottom and interior as this one) lasted 10 years before it started to show signs of rust and I abused the crap out of it. I finally threw it out because the handle melted and gave at the bottom (no longer attached to the kettle) ~ it sat closer to the flame than this one does, I'm sure it was my fault as I've always put them on high heat (gas). I want my TEA ~ lol

There are instructions as to what to do if rust does start to appear: add 2 Tbsp of baking soda, a little lemon juice and water, then boil. Never use anything abrasive (and since I'm using this water for my tea I personally wouldn't use anything chemical for fear of it leaving residue that would wind up in ME). They do recommend you don't leave water in it but let's be realistic, that's not gonna happen.

The finish on this thing is SO gorgeous... And quite by accident it matches the readout on my stove :o)

Recommended to use a pot holder but really not necessary. It doesn't get that hot.

It pours nicely too. Good balance to it.

As for protecting the finish, it's probably best to use a medium flame... It's really beautiful and probably would have issues if the flame lapped over the side, but that's what the instructions tell you to use anyway, medium flame. I've managed to live with that since I bought it and it hasn't killed me yet so I suppose it's a small sacrifice...

Love the free shipping with Amazon Prime too ~ got it in 2 days. Ordered a different one by Copco the same day (sentimental reasons ~ see review of Copco Holsteam kettle) and it still hasn't gotten here a week later... That was shipped by an outside source.

Bought this to replace a forgotten-and-ruined "Livestrong" kettle (bought it for the cheerful yellow enamel, didn't realize it was a Cancer Awareness kettle till I got it home). The whistle had broken on that one after about a year of use, anyway.

As others have said, the finish on this one is truly beautiful. It's really light in weight, which is pleasant for use but makes me wonder how long it will be with us. A very nice feature is the latch for the spout lid keeps it either open or closed---you don't have to keep pulling the trigger to pour, like some other kettles. Standard kettle whistle, starts out low and gets shrill. No spattering when you pour, and I think you could get away without a pot holder if it hadn't been on the stove long. Will try to develop the habit of emptying it after use to avoid the possibility of rust---I want to keep this pretty thing on the stove as long as I can.

Update, 11/28: Apparently I don't have the patience, while waiting for my morning caffeine, to gently coax water to a boil with a flame low enough to prevent this kettle from scorching. I didn't have the flame lapping up around the kettle but it did extend almost to the edge, and after only a handful of uses, brown scorch marks appeared on the front and back. They are now almost two inches high and about six inches wide. There is a demarcation line about an inch up from the bottom that is undamaged, which leads me to believe that the bottom of the kettle sides are reinforced with something that stops an inch up. I finally found a polish that will clean off the scorch marks (Hagerty) but it takes the color off too. Will be looking to replace this with something more durable. It's a shame, because it really was pretty right out of the box.

It is a shame that quality control fell short on this very lovely kettle. It is light weight and has a nice, large capacity (nearly 90 ounces.) The whistle is loud enough and it does a good job boiling water. However, the edges (where the lid attaches, especially) are prone to rust. The handle and knob are phenolic plastic and, unfortunately shoddy. The two halves of the handle were not smoothed when assembled so there are bits of plastic all over the handle. Also, the knob is rather weak and can easily break off, since the lid is friction fitted and a tight fit. This would be a great kettle if the plastic pieces were of better quality.

I bought this because our old kettle had a habit of leaking steam from the lid and spout whenever you poured it, burning both my husband and I, and if you didn't wait a good 30 seconds or longer after it stopped boiling water would bubble and spatter out of the spout in all directions. To top it off, the handle was difficult to use and often so hot (from the various steam leakages) you had to use an oven mit or towel. The thing was a health hazard.

This one looks good, holds a decent amount of water for our purposes (two BIG cups of coffee in the mornings) and I have yet to have any steam leak out of the lid or spout. I can hear the water bubbling inside and because of the previous kettle tend to wait for that to stop before I pour, but the spout design on this one does seem to prevent it from spattering out the way it did on the old kettle. The handle is also very easy to use. From a health and safety point of view it's a huge improvement, and I like the color choices too.

This is the second Creative Home Satin Tea kettle I've purchased. I owned the first for almost a year. NO hot handle after boiling water. I kept water in it 24/7 with NO rusting or problems with the metal. Cleaned about once a week. Problem with the first, I put it in the dishwasher(instead of hand scrubbing) after it got some grease on it, and the detergent took the wonderful blue paint off. Still worked great. Then, I decided to treat myself to new green one, and won't make the mistake of putting it into the dishwasher. Cleans wonderfully with a Magic Eraser. Whistles well enough to hear if in a different room. A great product.
