I ordered both the covered 12" skillet and the smaller 8" skillet from the Anolon Advanced Bronze Collection and was delighted to see they are even better than I expected. The weight is ideal--impressive but not too heavy for my older hands, The finish shouts quality inside and out. Cooking with them is a step-up in ease of cooking and cleaning. Meat browns nicely with only a tiny drop of oil in the pan. Instructions say no oil is needed, and I may get brave and try that, but in the meantime, can report that both skillets are a pleasure to use for a variety of food I've cooked on my gas range, including eggs, steak, chicken, fish, grilled veggies, e.g. onions, potatoes, stir-fry, etc. Pancakes and French Toast browned without using oil. I particularly appreciate that the exterior finish is also non-stick and wipes clean as easily as the interior, This should extend the attractiveness of the pans for a long, long time. The bronze color is nice, but I would have ordered the stainless finish if the sizes I wanted had been on sale at the time. Note: I forgot just how large a 12" skillet is, and will be ordering a 10" soon, as I'm usually cooking for two.

18 MONTH UPDATE: These pans were everything we wanted for about 12 months

before the exterior non-stick finish began to break down and I was unable to

find anyway to keep them looking good. Another 6 months, and the inside of

the 12" skillet had lost most of it's non-stick qualities, and was impossible

to clean. In all, these "better" quality" non-stick lasted just barely longer

than the less expensive ones and price considered, were not as economical.

BTW: We are a 2 person household and we both love to cook and know how to

care for our equipment. These pans were never over-heated of abused, and were

cleaned as instructed. In the 18 months of almost daily use of one or the other,

I could count on one hand the times the pan was NOT hand-washed and put away after use

and not just rinsed and wiped out. Only the small pan is still usable--but unsightly!

Question: Should I now order "best" non-stick, and hope they're worth it, or just

plan on replacement every year or so?

Analon advance pans are the best pans I have used. I have been cooking for 20 years and these are by far the best. Even heat distribution, and nonstick that works. These pans are quality! Heavy, built to survive, well, me. Handles are riveted on with over sized rivets and are super strong. I would bet if you filled these with lead it would probably hold (sorry i didn't try). I have cooked eggs, potatoes, gravy, meat, pancakes & tomato sauce in these pans, with no oil or spray, and have had success with all. Cleaning has been done with hot tap water from sink sprayer and they always came clean. Soap and sponge for safety but the food came out without them. I have several sizes and like them all. Some of the pans come with glass lids. Glass lids are nice and have wonderful handles, but lack a vent hole (the only downfall). I have used wooden and plastic utensils without any issues. At this time i have used the pans approx 20 times and they look and work like new.

I've been searching for a deep skillet for a while now and found this Anolon on Amazon. The non-stick is SO amazing that my husband (who hates cleaning dishes by hand) automatically washes this pan whenever he or I use it! You just need mild soap and a sponge and off comes everything! If this keeps up, I will be purchasing more items form Anolon.

You could save a little money by buying a cheap pan at the grocery store…they work about the same as this one does for me.

I bought this pan as a small sampler before I splurged on the 11-piece set. I am so glad I did! This pan does not live up to the expectations of quality cookware. I have only had it 2-3 weeks but use it at least daily (sometimes several times a day) and it already has a very definitive hot spot in the center of the pan. Most hard anodized aluminum pans boast even heat distribution, but this one falls FAR short of that. It also does not cook things as fast or efficiently as several other HAA pans I have. I will NOT be buying the full set, and am going to try to return this pan.

I purchased this Analon Advanced Bronze skillet to replace an older version of the same thing as I cannot function without this piece of cookware in my kitchen. Even better, it was still an "Open Stock" item no need to have to buy a complete set of cookware to get one pan. The price was also right not having gone up that much over the years.

My old skillet gave me many years of use and was well traveled, having cooked successfully on all types of heating surfaces and fuels here in the U.S. and overseas. I was delighted to find that I could replace it.

The size is wonderful when preparing recipes that make a larger amount, and the higher sides prevent messy splashes and spatters that occur when cooking in a more open skillet. I love it for frying meats, and especially for spaghetti sauce. The fact that it now comes with a lid is another plus. My old one did not. This skillet is not only versatile, it also has an attractive design, and the bronze tone is a nice change from the old gunmetal gray.

I have tried all varieties of "non stick" cookware over time, and find the Hard Anondized the best performer of all. It cleans easily, resists staining, has even heat distribution. and has yet to cook a disappointing meal for me.

I plan to purchase the entire set of cookware to go with my new skillet.
