I have no problem with items made in China, practically everything is, however, I was looking
for a genuine Oke from Japan.
I ordered this item because it had copper bands, which by the way, are used to hold the
Oke together because you they don't use glue on a genuine Oke. I even took the time to
email Amazon and have them verify that is was copper bands and not the cheap plastic bands used
in the twenty dollar Okes. The picture shows the the thick bands as used in a genuine Oke.
What you actaullay get are loosely fitting, non-functional, super thin copper band. These are nailed on one side.
I can fit both blades of a scissor on the other side (see pics). I can only conclude that because they are non-functional
the sides are glued. With what? Who knows, but I don't want my food touching it.
If you are looking for a genuine Oke to make Sushi, this isn't it. I am definitely returning this item
and spending twice the price for a real one.

I haven't used it yet and didn't see anywhere on the item stating the material it was made from. I specifically ordered this bowl because it descripbed as being made of spruce and not of pine, I hope that's the case. I was hoping it would be a genuine Japanese made bowl, but I'm not sure of that either.I would recommend shopping around and reading more about the product if you're looking for a more specific bowl.
