These are only necessary if you have large pots, ie; more than eight quarts. They allow the pot to hang sideways and thereby allow more use of the space on a pot rack. Sideways means that you either look into the pot or see its bottom. You do not need these for skillets. In fact, if you use these for skillets you greatly reduce the amount of space gained by buying a pot rack in the first place.

I bought these for use with my Enclume MPB-06 RACK IT UP Bookshelf Pot Rack and am pleased with them. They were as easily painted as the pot rack itself, and work well to hold the heavy stainless steal pots and pans that I am using the rack for. These hooks matched out Enclume pot rack perfectly. They are styled a little differently than the hooks that came with our pot rack, but the longer length allowed us to hang our pots and pans at different levels allowing us to fit more pots on the rack. And the price was very good compared to other sites.
