In the several weeks I've owned this basting brush, I've used it for brushing dough with butter, spreading a hot waffle iron with oil, and for applying mustard to a quiche crust. In every situation, it works well. I don't find a need for multiple sizes of brushes. This big one serves all my needs. The wooden handle feels comfortably substantial in the hand. It washes well with a swish in the dishwater. (I've not put mine in the dishwasher.)

For many years, I have been using cheap basting brushes for such tasks as basting, barbeque, and other cooking tasks that require a brush. Frankly, I was hesitant to spend the money on this brush because I thought it was expensive compared to the old brushes, which sell for about $6 for a box of 20.

Well, I sure am glad I took the chance. The quality of this, and other, La Creuset silicon brushes and spatulas is excellent. I use this one mainly for barbeque, and the wife uses it for cooking as well. We love it. It spreads sauce evenly, the 'bristles' are soft, and it just works great. There isn't an easy way to speak elegantly about a barbeque basting brush, so it will have to suffice to say that all of our kitchen utensils are being replaced with La Creuset silicon if it's available.

Buy one of these and a silicon spatula. You will be thrilled with how well they work and how easily they clean up.

I looked any looked for one that was made in america and the blue one ( Marseille) Was made in the USA. The other colors and other basting brushes on Amazon are all made in china. I watched a documentary on things made in china and how they were putting lead and mercury in their silicones and plastics. The guy was invited to tour a blow up earth ball makers that makes toys for kids. When he started to ask them how it was made and what was in it they kicked him out. He had it tested and it came back that it had high amounts of Lead and mercury in it.

I replaced a bristle brush with this silicone basting brush after being frustrated with cleaning the bristle brush and constantly dealing with stray hairs coming off of the brush. Guess what?! This brush doesn't do that (obviously). It is easy to clean, spreads well, and my only complaint is that I use a bit more than necessary because the silicone bristles are not as fine as the ones on a brush. This was a great price, as well. I'd highly recommend it.
