While this is larger than it looks (though so far it has fit every banana I've put in it beautifully), which makes it look rather like a contestant for "Dog toy or marital aid?" it works really well. Bananas aren't squished, it's ventilated so they don't over-ripen, and generally it does the job.

That the ventilation holes are little hearts? Well, just say that my roommate is trying to talk me into taking this through a TSA screening.

Spent a little time researching banana savers wanted something to fit in the diaper bag for on plane trips, etc. This didn't have a length measurement on the listing, and holy cow, is it big. I also tried to fit five different bananas in it, all normal sized, and only one fit. Going to return it and try a different style banana saver. I don't think this is a very practical size for lunchboxes or even backpacks but it could work if you don't mind how giant it is and have the room. So, three stars from me for bulkiness and impracticality. Would give if four or five for general function, though it shut tight and having the vents was good.

I have never seen a banana shaped like this. It's like a cross between a gun and a sea cucumber. I bought a banana protector (for laughs) that looks a lot less... like this and a little more like a banana. It has a little nubbin for the top that the stick part goes into. It only fits bananas that are perfectly shaped for the holder, but that makes it that much more silly. The perfect bananas that fit are always very well protected! So I guess it serves it's silly purpose.

The ambiguous shape of the banana holder listed would be good for laughs. :) Pull it out of your bag all nonchalant and open it up, revealing your banana! Dirty dirty people, what did they think it was!

This does fulfill its purpose. It holds bananas. ANY SIZE BANANA that you could imagine. The downside is that it's comically large. Every person who has seen me use this has been taken aback by size. I found myself being discreet about removing a banana from my bag, which is hardly an ideal snacking situation. It would also be pretty impractical to transport if you didn't have a large-ish (at least messenger or tote-sized) bag or carried it awkwardly in your hand. Additionally--I didn't notice this before ordering, nor did I care, but--the (breathing?) holes in the case are heart-shaped. If for some reason you oppose cutesy items, it probably wouldn't be your style. This would also be a terrific gag gift.
