I'm glad we went with this model and not the fancier $100 model Chantal Stainless 1-4/5-Quart Classic Teakettle. From what I can tell, the only thing the other model has going for it is the multi-tone whistle. The whistle on this one is not particularly irritating, though it is a typical high-pitched tea whistle (anyway, it's -supposedto grab your attention).

The design is also better--a common complaint on the Classic is that the handle gets too hot (it comes with a custom mitt, but reviews say it is a nuissance to use/store, and also ruins the aesthetics). So unless you have to have a pretty sounding whistle, get this model instead. It works fine, looks just as good, is more functional, and is half the price.

It's good quality construction and a good design. All parts and joints are metal except for the handle and the knob on the lid which are both plastic so they don't burn you. The spout is on a hinge which is spring-loaded so it stays either fully shut or fully open. (It opens manually with the tab; the tab can be warm but if you touch it momentarily to pop it open, you'll be fine.) The lid "pops" onto the body by compression. Be careful opening the lid just after heating--steam can escape and also the non-plastic part of the lid can be very hot.

Who knew that figuring out how to boil water was so complicated... We're happy with our kettle, and I hope this review helps!

Fantastic design and materials for this price point. Timeless design and potentially a lifetime of use with stainless steel. A strong magnet revealed all parts are stainless steel except for the lever/spring/bracket that holds the spout cover in place I'd suggest making sure this area dries out completely to avoid potential rust, though I have no idea what kind of steel this section is made of (it may be rust resistant). This pot does not have a thick/heavy base that many have, FYI. From my testing, I'm convinced this is the best under-$100 tea kettle on Amazon.

Don't get the stainless steel, it gets cloudy and dingy looking on the first use and worse with subsequent use. My stainless steel Cuisinart cookware looks brand new after 10 years of heavy use and neglect, not sure why this tea kettle should look 10 years old after one use.

The design is OK, but it is clearly not of the same quality and heft as the Chantal Kettle my Mom has had for 20 years.

Other than that, it holds water and the handle and the lever for the spout lid stay cool enough to handle.

This is a beautiful kettle that stays shiny and fresh without much ado. Pouring it feels great, special even. Opening the spout when it whistles is safe for the naked hand. I've had it a while now and love it.

This is not a stainless steel teapot, I have rust inside it after 2 weeks of using it! Handle is not comfy! What's good about it, it's light.

The whistle did not make load sound ,it's too quiet.
