I use this pan 2-3 times a week and I'm quite happy with it. It heats very evenly on my induction burner, better than some other pans I've used. The pan is very sturdy as is the lid which fits well. It also pours nicely when draining the pan. The pan handles stay cool after 15 min of boiling, but the lid handle does heat up. I also like the dimensions of the 8qt pot. I use a hand mixer to mash potatoes in it and it fits into the pan quite well. The inside of the pan is smooth and easy to scrape out. I think it performs well especially considering it costs much less than comparable pans. I'm very happy I bought it.

In fairness, I did *not* purchase this item through Amazon. It was available through my local restaurant store, but if you don't have one of those, or if they don't carry Update International, I would certainly order here. That being said, this is a solid pot, non-glass lid with a clad bottom. It works very well and cleans up well.
You can certainly spend more money, but unless you have to complete your set of AllClad or EmerilWare you'll save a bunch of bucks. You could also spend less, but you'll get a much less durable pot.
I'm told this works well on induction, but I use mine on a ceramic top electric stove. I've liked every piece of Update International cookware I've purchased.
If you're unpersuaded with only seeing a couple of reviews on this item, check the listings for other sizes for this brand. You'll find that most folks like them a lot. By the way, I also have several pieces of AllClad and while these don't have the same fit and finish as AllClad, I don't feel that these are second rate pots by any means.

This pot looks ok, although the base is not as thick as I wanted. The handles are soldered on, not screwed. The handle on the lid was only attached at one end. The other was "floating." There was no way to attach it DIY, so I had to return it.

I've used this pot almost every day for about a month and a half. It heats very quickly and evenly. The tall sides and lid make it easy to cook without making a mess. The handles will eventually get hot, but I haven't had any issue with that. The current price is a bit high: I got this pot here on Amazon in July 2012 for $30.

Lid and pot were one unit and the lid shipped with a ding in it. The edge was damaged in shipping and I hoped we could return just the lid for another but we had to return the whole thing. No options to exchange just return the whole set. It was easy return via a terrific Amazon return program...just wished I could have exchanged the item without having to return and rebuy. Likely will buy or consider brand again.
