We just purchased the Krups KT720D50 coffeemaker to replace a Zojirushi coffeemaker we have used for several years. After less than a week, the verdict is that the Krups makes a mighty fine cup of coffee both the "aroma" and the "classic" settings deliver a rich and flavorful cup of coffee; and the stainless steel carafe keeps it hot. An added plus is the glass lined carafe which gives you the best of both worlds no metallic taste infusing into the coffee and all the stay-hot benefits of a stainless steel carafe. The only negative is the water-filling system there is a small opening on top which could be a bit larger, or the entire water reservoir comes out. The latter is great for cleaning but impractical for filling. I also wish Krups had included a floating ball in the reservoir to make it easier to line up the water level with the number of cups being made. The brewing process also takes a little longer than with some other coffeemakers, but it is well worth the wait. This is a mighty fine coffeemaker.

Krups KT720D50 10-cup Thermal Coffee MachineFeatures I Wanted
* Automatic drip machine that only brews coffee
* Brand known for coffee makers
* Thermal carafe
* Ability to control brew cycle
* Looks nice on the kitchen counter
* Excellent value
* Makes great coffee
Features I Did Not Want
* Integrated grinder
* Programmability
* Clock
This coffee maker is everything I look for in an automatic drip coffee maker. Although Krups makes several types of appliances, they are probably best known for their coffee makers. From an engineering perspective, I prefer products that are dedicated to a single process rather than trying to combine tasks (e.g., grind and brew) because there will almost always be compromises in the design that degrade overall performance and lifetime. Other than the ability to make great tasting coffee, the only features I wanted was an automatic shut-off and a thermal carafe. I did not need programmability because I want to turn it on right after I grind the beans. I also did not want a digital clock, which is really not necessary in today's world and just becomes another thing to set or correct. The KT720D is tall, so make sure the distance between your counter and cabinets is adequate. Making coffee is fast and very easy. Some reviewers are frustrated with the water filling process. Perhaps this is because they do not want to remove the water reservoir, which is designed to detach for easy filling.
Bottom Line: If you want a good-looking machine that simply makes fresh delicious coffee that stays piping hot, this model is a great choice and an excellent value.

Our old Krups drip type died after 8 years, and I decided an upgrade was in order. After lots of review reading of the other models out there they all had over-flow issues, leaks while pouring, lid alignment issues and the like. Cuisinart had too many overflow issues for me to be comfortable with, zojirushi had water temp issues, bunn had some carafe drip issues and the heated reservoir didn't appeal to me, bonavita was too small and too expensive. I was about to pull the trigger on the Cuisinart, reluctantly, when I stumbled onto this Krups version. Not as many reviews, and the negative ones were out of box failures of some sort. I liked the looks and the minimalist features. I neither use, nor desire a clock, timer, or anything else.I also liked that it had a glass lined carafe, and a simple thumb actuated pour button rather than a 'turn to align the dots' type.
Made the first cup this morning, and it was excellent. At first I thought the coffee was a bit weak, but then I realized it was just much less bitter than before so it seemed weaker than usual. It actually was stronger than normal using the Aroma setting, as verified by more of a buzz than normal.
No drips while pouring, no issues with the carafe in general.
The only issue, if there is one, is that the number 4 filters are a tight fit, so some care is needed to make sure it doesn't get folded over when you close the filter holder.
Very satisfied so far.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a nice electric drip machine that has some positives going for it. It brews a nice pot of coffee within 5 minutes and can keep it warm for several hours because it has a thermal carafe. Because it does not depend on an external heat source to keep it warm the coffee doesn't get stale or bitter tasting and does not have an acrid aroma. I like the capacity of the carafe; it can yield 10 4oz. cups which makes it really convenient when entertaining. The steel and black finish works well with most kitchens; we have stainless appliances so it looks really good. While I did not have a problem fitting this on the countertop under a cabinet, the dimensions might be problematic for some since it has a tall profile. Additional features include a stop and serve option during the brewing process if you need coffee immediately, a shut off switch, and a swing out cone shaped coffee filter basket, and a well made stainless carafe.The primary negative that I perceive as a problem is the small opening for water. It is easy to spill out water while filling the water reservoir. My work around is to remove the reservoir and fill it in the sink. Again this might be a problem for some; I have a deep double sink with a high faucet with a spray attachment so this is convenient and a good way to avoid spillage. My only advice is to make sure that the reservoir is inserted in the unit properly.
Overall, this is a nice coffee maker. I gave it 4* because the small water opening is an obvious design flaw. I've owned a couple of Krups coffee makers and think they are dependable, well made, and brew a flavorful pot of coffee.

We replaced a Mr. Coffee thermal carafe coffee maker that I hated with this coffee maker when Mr. Coffee died. My husband thinks the pieces are a bit flimsy like the other reviewers, but I don't think they are any more flimsy than the Mr. Coffee parts that held up for a few years. Reviewers talked about the difficulty of filling the water, but I don't think that is a problem. It is a little different than the ones where you pour water into a fixed area from above the coffee maker, but I like that I can remove the container, fill it at the sink and pop it back in. My husband prefers to fill the carafe and pour it in the hole in top. This wasn't a problem at all despite what other reviewers wrote. I also like that you can easily clean every part of the inside of this coffee maker that comes in contact with coffee. I worried about my Mr. Coffee because I know there had to be gunk inside where I couldn't clean. The coffee tastes great and brews fast, and the coffee maker looks stylish on the counter. This doesn't have a timer, but that isn't a problem for me. Overall, we are very happy with this coffee maker in the few days that we have had it.UPDATE: We have had this coffee maker for six months and it is holding up well. It still looks shiny and new and even the inside of the carafe isn't stained even though we have done nothing special to clean it and even leave coffee sitting in it sometimes. After having some problems filling the water container, I filled it carefully based on the marks on the side and then drew a marker line that is really easy to see on the front of the container. It looks a little homespun, but you can't see it unless you are filling it up! It makes it very easy to just use my sprayer attachment to fill it fast. We are still happy with this coffee maker and recommend it!
