This box is very heavy so they are heavy duty BUT mine came damaged with one handle shattered and a lid with a bent metal edge around the glass. The handle knobs are nice but they come loose in the box and need to be screwed into each lid in just a hole in the center of the glass. They have a nice look to them but some of the black plastic edges are rough and raw looking. I was happy with my purchase for about six months. Very good price, looked nice. Then the scratches started appearing and I had to replace the set within the first year. I did use them almost every other day. I guess like one reviewer mentioned, it can last longer if only hand-washed. I would at times put them in the dish washer. This set is certainly a good value for the money. However, I must caution users: do NOT put them in the automatic dishwasher because it removes the protective coating and rust is the immediate result. (The photos were too graphic to print.) The pots, pans, & lids are well maintained with hand washing only. I bought these for my mother because she burned up her old set. I would definitely not give these as a gift. I guess you get what you pay for.
