Mine has a loud whistle. The glass top has a SS ring around the edge, so it would be very hard to break. the bottom is thin, but does that really matter in a kettle? Another reviewer said it was hard to fill, but I can't imagine why there is plenty of room for a faucet to fit in there. It looks great, but you will absolutely have to use a hot pad or glove to pick it up from the stove.

Wow, I just noticed the price is now $49 I paid $23 2 weeks ago, which is about right I would have never bought it for 49 bucks!

I like the fact that it's all stainless steel and sleek looking--however, it would need one tweek to get 5 stars.

It would be much better if the handle could move out of the way when filling the kettle (the handle is in the way of pouring water into the kettle).

The price, though is right and it looks like it will last forever; I've dropped the glass lid a few times and it has survived every fall so all in all, this is a very good product.

I use it to heat water up. Looks elegant. Water heat level can be viewed from the see-through glass lid, although at times the steam that collects hinders view. The spout cover whistles appropriately but sometimes it gets spewed out by the force of the steam.

This kettle is made entirely out of metal with a bit of glass for the lid. The handle, however, stays cool enough to grip and sits high enough over the lid that you can still get a mittened hand on it just to be safe.

The capacity and heat retention of this kettle is such that I can blow on my first cup of very hot tea and still make a few more cups before needing to reheat it.
