This Chef's pan is identical to the Cooks Standard Multi-Ply Clad Stainless-Steel 13-Inch Wok with Dome Lid except the Chef's pan has two short handles instead of one short and one long handle; the Chef's pan is 5 ply instead of 3 ply like the wok, and the Chef's pan weighs 13 ounces more than the WOK.

This Chef's pan weighs 4 lbs and 14 ounces. The Wok weighs 4 lbs and 1 ounce.

In short,

Chef pan = 5 ply, 2 short handles, weighs 4 lbs 14 oz.

Wok = 3 ply, 1 short handle, 1 long handle, weighs 4 lbs 1 oz.

I own both the wok and the chef's pan. If I had it to do over I would have bought another wok instead because it is lighter in weight. The advantage of the Chef's pan is that there is no long handle to get in your way. I really wish the company made a Chef's pan in 3 ply instead of the heaver 5 ply.

Both pans are nice and at this price point well worth the investment.

I use this as a wok and it works great with my induction range. It heats up fast. As some reviewers say, it is a little on the heavy side. I have stir-fried tofu in it and some of it does get stuck on the bottom (but they stick to non-stick pans too). So far, (I've been using it for only two weeks) cleaning up is not a problem. Soaking, boiling some water in it, scraping with a non-abrasive sponge, using non-chlorine cleaners like Bar Keeper's Friend products all do a good job. I am happy with my choice.

The packing, delivery of the product were all impeccable.

heavy, solid, quality pan that works on my induction cooktop!. Also ordered two of the 13 inch steamer basket that fit perfectly. I steamed a complete meal for 6 people composed of veges and diced potatoes around a center bowl of rice with water on the bottom steamer and salmon steak with a olive oil rub, s/p, chopped scallions and thin lemon slices on the top steamer. Perfection!! have also steamed homemade tamales and embutido! So glad I ordered these!

Bought this for stir fry but it has so many uses and I find it is the first pan I reach for most nights. It has deep sides to prevent getting "popped" when cooking at the high temps required for stir fry or deep frying. It's 5-ply stainless perfectly conducts the heat, and doesn't make the pan too heavy to lift. It has a flat bottom, and I love the well fitting domed lid. It truly is an all-purpose pan, and makes the perfect wok for use on my ceramic top range. I hand wash all my pots and pans because i want to keep the finish shiny, but it is listed as dishwasher safe. The handles are sturdily riveted and secure. I owe several other Cook's Standard pans and you can't beat them for value and longevity. I highly recommend this pan to anyone wanting a wok or very versatile chef's pan. It would make the perfect wedding gift or housewarming present.

A pan to love.

I love to just look at it and I love to use it. It sits solidly on my stove top as kitchen decor yes, it is that pretty.

I read the other reviews before I bought it, yet I didn't realise that it would be too large for a one to two-person meal. Silly me.

Although it is a big pan, for me, it is a plus that there is no long handle to encumber the rest of the stove-top space.

Wish they would make a smaller version of it though.
