I've used anodized aluminum pans like Calphalon and others for years. It's next to impossible to know what grade of non-stick coating you are getting but, none of them last forever. I wanted to try a stainless non-stick pan and found this one. I've had this pan for several months now and I use it primarily for eggs. It heats very quickly and a very low flame cooks eggs perfectly. The pan has excellent balance and a comfortable handle. It's very stable while setting on the burner. Like any non-stick you don't count as a throw-away, take care of it (don't plunge a hot pan into to water, use plastic/silicon/wooden implements, etc...) and it should last a long time and serve you well.

*Update (5/6/2012) I've had the 8" pro clad pan for awhile now and used it on both gas and electric ranges. I still love it and it works great. I use it daily. Like another reviewer said, learning to cook with stainless steel versus anodized aluminum makes a difference. You don't need to crank things up to get a good seer. Medium will do when you allow the pan to heat up first. I don't bother with the dishwasher because it a simple clean and rinse. Personally, I wouldn't put any pan I cared about in a dishwasher whether they say it's dishwasher safe or not. The cleaning materials are just too harsh and things bang around inside.

One other point, read these reviews carefully. Several are about other Emeril cookware, not the 8" Pro Clad. There is a huge difference between the emerilware stainless and the pro clad lines. The main difference between All Clad stainless and Emeril Pro Clad is where it's made (AC in the US and PC in China). I highly recommend this pan

I wanted a non-stick pan... and the low price and the pro-clad status were influential in my choice. I considered "Emeril" a drawback.

The pan arrived in perfect condition. The instructions clearly stated that it did not need to be conditioned in order to function as non-stick. I cleaned it as directed, put in a couple of eggs, and they stuck....like glue.

Next time I go with the higher price and hope for better quality.

Emeril pans are made by All-Clad. Best pans around, but the non-stick surface didn't stick to the pan. After nothing but eggs in the morning and a run thru the dishwasher after each day the edges are starting to peal. I think it's guaranteed, but what a hassle. Really expected more.
