If my husband is available and can use his strength to push it down it chops the onion perfect but if you don't have a lot of strength then it will not work and once I get the onion in it I cannot get it back out to finish it by hand. Oh my goodness! I used this for the first time tonight, it was awesome! I took the skin off, cut in quarters and went to town...then decided to challenge it with a tomato and it again surprised me. My only concern is regarding the blades....what to do if they get dull. Regardless, it's a great product!!
