I had serious reservations about getting this pan, given the limited reviews and the initial investment. But his pan is perfect. Heats evenly. Heavy enough to feel solid, but not enough to wear out your arm! Solid workmanship on the handle as well. Could double as an intruder weapon, it is that nice. Highly recommend.

UPDATE: 11/30/2012 I have been using the saucepan for quite some time now, and am happy to report I love it as much as when I first got it. Very durable, heats evenly. Just love it. You won't be disappointed.

This is the most used pan in the kitchen being used several times a day. With stainless steel construction if you wash this in the dishwasher (which is perfectly safe) it will probably look dingy. To get an optima wash job I recommend washing by hand and using a stainless steel cleaner which gets rid of the pitting from cooking and polishes it back to its new look.

Very nice 2Qt pot with insulated handle and glass cover. Has aluminum sandwhich bottom. Great value when compared to Calphlon ot Cusinart

Honest reviews on Oneida Gourmet Pro Stainless Steel 2-Quart Covered Sauce Pan

The pan is constructed well, has a very study feel to it, without being too heavy or awkward. The bottom is thick and nice and flat. I especially like the handle, it insulates nicely, keeping the heat from traveling up from the pot container. The lid and handle fit nicely, all are well constructed. This is a great pan for a fair price.

First off, this is a superior sauce pan, and one of the few quality sauce pans I located that doesn't have a non-stick coating and does have an insulated handle. Its price point is excellent compared to the competition. I couldn't be more pleased with it, both from a cooking standpoint and from an appearance standpoint.

The most used sauce pans in my kitchen are of the 2 quart variety, which seems to be the perfect size for things like cooking rice, steaming veggies or boiling eggs. I found myself in the market for a new one because the handle on my beloved 45 year old mainstay simply came off its moorings.

It took a surprising amount of persistence to find a sauce pan meeting my search specs of being in the 1 to 2 quart range and being one that (in order of importance)

(a) doesn't use non-stick coating

(b) is substantial enough to not be easily dinged.

(c) has an insulated handle

(d) has a glass lid

From among the ones without a non-stick coating (all stainless steel), my Amazon wish list grew to no less than 5 pans from the likes of Cuisinart, et al, all of which missed the mark for an insulated handle and a couple of which had metal lids. I had just about decided on a highly rated Cuisinart (which had neither an insulated handle nor a glass lid) when one more search brought up this one, which I immediately jumped on because it actually met my specs as well as having positive reviews.

I can't speak to the virtues of the others I scoped out, but I couldn't be happier with this one. The size is perfect. The design is gorgeous. The construction is substantial with a bottom that has an extra layer of steel to jacket a layer of aluminum for heat distribution, and which also protects it from corner dings and adds balance to the pan. I won't last another 45 years, but I suspect this pan will.
