We received a variety of these Calphalon nylon utensils as a gift about ten months ago. So far none of them have melted like "cheap" plastic utensils, but they have not proven to be very durable in other regards. I am looking to replace several of the pieces and won't be buying this "model" again for a couple of reasons:
First, the edges have "flaked". I am not sure how else to put it, they aren't exactly cracked but layers of the material have peeled away and this caused little bits of the utensil to break free and add unwanted "seasoning" to my dishes.
Second, they DO bend pretty easily and the silicon surface peeled up at the stress point within weeks. It appears that the silicon section just isn't mounted well.
Third, though they claim to be dishwasher safe, one pass through the washer left them with permanent light spots/stainsthey look like bleach stains.
Overall I am not completely dissatisfied, after all the ones that haven't begun "flaking" still do the job with mediocre performance. I don't feel like the purchase price of these would be a waste by any means, I have just used better and would recommend purchasing an alternative.

I got this set to go with my new Calphalon Contemporary Non-Stick pans I bought on Amazon, to protect my investment. These utensils are very heavy duty, but they're made from Nylon so that they do not scratch the non-stick surfaces of your skillets and pots. I've gotten other nylon utensils in the past and they were flimsy. But these are really solid and sturdy and work excellent. The handles do not bend or flex under pressure.I highly recommend these to anyone that has non-stick cookware. You will nt be disapointed!

I was very excited to get my new non-stick Calphalon cookware and 4 piece nylon utensil set. The first time I cooked with high heat on my Calphalon non-stick skillet the nylon Calphalon spatula melted. The front edged flaked or melted, whatever you want to call it. It's now peeling into my food. Also, the solid spoon now has a white-ish tint to the front portion of the spoon after using it in boiling water. I have never put any utensils in the dishwasher or used them in a way other than what the manufacture recommends. I am deeply disappointed in this set. I will take it back for a refund as soon as I can find a superior replacement.Note: The box says silicone and nylon heat resistant to 500 and 400 degrees, respectively.
