We received these Skookie Pans for a Christmas gift and absolutely love them! We used up the mix pretty quick and the pans seem to work with just normal cookie dough recipes. We're super sad that the four pack isn't as readily available, as they would make great reasons to gather socially.

These pans are perfect for a fun dessert. We gave these away as neighborhood gifts for Christmas last year and we were the talk of the neighborhood. Our kids love doing their own pizzas in the pans. Buy the "pop and serve" pizza crusts. Spread the dough onto the pans and bake it for 2-4 minutes. Then let the kids add their own fixin's...they love it! Only complaint: The included cookie mix is better with a little butter in it.

The skookie pans are a hit with my four teens and their friends. We use them around the firepit in our backyard. It took just a couple tries to master the process. The kids use refrigerator cookie dough and press it into the bottom of the skookie so the pan is about half full. The pans arrived pre-seasoned, and we used them without seasoning them ourselves. The first batch of cookies that we tried stuck just a little bit in the bottom edge of the pans. We used a nylon spoon to "buff" the crusty cookie off, sprayed the pan moderately with butter flavored Pam cooking oil, and gave it another try. The next cookie did not stick, so I think the pan just needed to finish seasoning. We do not spray them anymore (we did for maybe 2 or 3 cookies). It takes anywhere from 8-15 minutes or so to "bake" a skookie. It depends on where the pan sits in relation to the coals and I even think the type of wood we are burning makes a difference--we have been burning small slabs of hardwood and it seems to get very hot compared to popple or pine. If we burn the fire down so the coals are big and hot and the flames are very low, then set our tripod so it is nearly touching a bed of coals, they are done in about 8 minutes. You can only do this if your fire is not flaming and there are lots of bright red coals. I am guessing these pans would work great over charcoal, like a dutch oven, but we have not tried that. We have also set them right on the edge of the fire when the flames are high (and they usually are when we have friends over for a night around the fire). We use a flame resistant leather glove (they're actually Caiman high heat welding gloves) to pick up the pan and move it around. When you cook these in a regular campfire, the trick is to keep the pan away from the and move it so it is sitting on top of hot coals, but out of flames.
Honest reviews on Camp Chef CICS7C Skookie Cast-Iron Skillet Set, Chocolate Chip
I have no complaints about the pans or the recipe book. I just didn't like how they give us a bag of cookie mix then don't say how to prepare it. Its a waste of cookie mix. There's nowhere on the internet that says what it needs either. Just put the directions for the cookie mix on the box and then I have no complaints.

My Skookie kit came with the Blue Cattle Truck Co Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, but no recipe for how to make the mix!!! I was planning to make it tonight for a special occasion... If you remember what goes in the mix, please help me!! I appreciate any info you can provide. I may have to search my pantry for other cookie mixes as I don't have all the ingredients on hand to make from scratch...
