First of all Simax Glassware is made of Borosilicate glass (like chemistry beakers). Pyrex bakeware is soda lime glass which is more susceptible to breaking (actually explosively) with sudden temperature changes. Soda lime is supposed to be less likely to break on impact, but it is more susceptible to breaking from thermal shock.
After a scary experience with a new Pyrex casserole dish exploding when set out to cool, I have been replacing my glassware with only borosilicate glass. Simax is not the only brand using borosilicate glass, Amazon sells several brands.
This dish has a length of just shy of 14 inches (34cm) for the top and is 7.3 inches (20 cm) wide. The bottom is (3.3 in) 8.5 cm deep and the top is about (2.3) 6 cm deep .
I love this pan for deep dish lasagna, other casseroles and small chickens. I sometimes use the top and bottom separately as well. I also use it in my microwave for heating up liquids (soup, broth) as the lid allows the liquid to drip back into the bottom as it heats.
