Like the first reviewer mentioned, this tray is small. It's pretty. The actual usable space (flat portion) is only 10" x 6 1/2". It would be perfect if the actual tray part was substantial enough to carry a full meal on it.

This is a quality, well-made piece. I thought it would be a little bigger but it's a decent "lap" size.Best Deals for Ironwood Gourmet Acacia Wood Norwegian Saddle Tray
I suppose for this price, one can't be too choosy, but the rough hewn quality of this tray wasn't quite what I expected for a "gourmet" tray. The shape and size of the tray are fine and true to the photo and written description. It can easily hold several small items (I used it for a glass of water, a condiment sized cup, and a salad plate and they fit comfortably). It would work well for display or for transporting a light meal or snack. However, the base of the tray and the sides are two separate pieces that on my tray, didn't fit together flushly and make me want to break out a piece of sandpaper. Also, the tray picked up water rings because I didn't realize one of the dishes I set on it (not the water glass; I used a coaster) was damp on the bottom. I may treat it with a wax finish to give it more protection in the future without affecting the finish too much. I feel like I could've gotten a tray of similar quality for less with a coupon or sale at a home goods store.Honest reviews on Ironwood Gourmet Acacia Wood Norwegian Saddle Tray
This is a very good and simple tray. The finish is not shiny but simple. The wood grain on the two I purchased was varied as shown in the picture. The construction is solid and well put together.I get client comments often on this. Good purchase!

Attractive, well built, good proportions. Purchased to act as a TV tray to carry dinner to another room or outside and to place on my lap as a dining surface. I had some old bamboo trays that came apart if you used the handles and were flimsy. I liked the idea of the lip on this saddle tray to keep everything in place, which it does very nicely.I only gave it 4 stars because of its size. It does not hold a dinner plate and really is too small for a lunch plate or at least my lunch plate, due to the sloping sides. I use a folded wash cloth underneath the lunch plate to lift the base up high enough to fit in the tray. Small plate with bowl (soup and salad) works great. Could see a couple of drinks and a pitcher for summer lemonade, etc. it is sturdy enough fo that weight.
I have a couple of steps and a storm door to navigate to go outside, so the raised sides are great for keeping everything on the tray.
I really like them and would order more if they came in a larger size.
