Since the trip, these little sporks have become daily fixtures in my 1st grader's lunchbox. The convenience of packing a single utensil when both spoon and fork are required--or when you don't know which utensil his highness may prefer for a food like rice or macaroni!--is great for the harried mother. We aim for a trash-free lunch, so re-using real cutlery is perfect.
My only (small) complaint is that each color set (in the kids' line) includes white, and that is the spork I always fear will get accidentally tossed in the trash since it looks the most like disposable silverware. I deal with this by printing out a stick-on label with my Brother P-Touch label-maker (strong adhesive label survives the dishwasher!), hoping the clearly visible name will remind people that we expect to get this item back home again at the end of the day. Black and lime green are also more obviously visible inside the (white-lined) lunchbox. Sometimes I go so far as to rubberband the spork to the side of the Thermos to make sure my son notices it with all the distractions of a group of twenty 6-7 year olds eating together.
Make the "little spork" available individually in all the fun colors of the grown-up version and this will be a perfected product line. As it is, the product is functional, affordable, and attractive enough.

My Amazon history tells me I ordered my first pack of sporks in September 2010. I bought more in March 2011. I have two little boys, so have been sending these sporks primarily to 1st/2nd grade, but occasionally to lunch with a preschool age boy. I had two sporks break this past school year, and one got lost, so I'm down to three, and about to order another set. My son acknowledged being too rough with the spork for one breakage; the other, he claimed, was a mystery, just breaking inside his lunchbag for "no reason" (which probably means he threw it around, or someone sat on it... I'm realistic about these things!)
I didn't note which colors survived, but have not noticed an obvious difference between the blue-translucent blue-white set and the green-black-white set. I believe that the lost spork was white, and the translucent blue and solid green were the ones broken.
I'm going to order more when school starts in a few weeks, and I still heartily recommend these, even with occasional loss or breakage. I do not yet trust my son's careful guardianship of possessions enough to buy a titanium spork, so this is still the best option for our family lunches and travel.
I did purchase one of the larger Light My Fire XM Spork, Navy Blue this summer on a clearance website, not realizing until it arrived how enormous those are. The plastic on that version feels thicker, and would seem therefore less likely to break. I might try one adult-size Light My Fire spork this year in addition to more kid-size and see if my older son complains of personal injury using it. I wonder if the larger sporks are all slightly thicker in proportion to their size and therefore stronger?

....it's a spork, for little kids. Our 8 yo and 6 yo love them, because they're just like Mum and Dad's sporks only smaller. Actually they're better than that, because they don't have a knife blade like the full size ones. So even safer. Great product, seems like it will last well for years of camping.Best Deals for Light My Fire 3-Pack Spork Little
I have bought several sets of these sporks as I use them on a daily basis for packing my kids' school lunches. They are ideal for school lunches because they are dishwasher safe and do not have the serrated knife edge like the adult-sized sporks. Periodically I need to order more because they get lost I think sometimes they get tossed accidentally. However, this week two of the white sporks have snapped in half in the lunchboxes. They do undoubtedly get swung around but I'm wondering if perhaps the white ones are more brittle than the other colors. I wish I could select the colors in the 3-pack I would choose the translucent ones. I am back to order another set, but considering this loss rate, I am looking for other options.update May 2012
We haven't had any more spork breakeage this school year, and we rely on these every day. I think my previous review may have been unfair just think how many plain plastic forks we would have used in that same time (I pack 3 lunches almost every weekday). These are really a workhorse in our lunch boxes, and they come through the dishwasher perfectly no need to handwash like with the expensive bamboo sets.
Honest reviews on Light My Fire 3-Pack Spork Little
I bought these sporks for my husband for Christmas. He was using one for work, but it snapped. We were really disappointed in the quality. Granted, he did have the spork in a backpack full of clothing, but it's supposed to be a camping spork. We haven't used the other two yet, we're saving them for camping. One note, these are very small and intended for kids. They were a little smaller than I was expecting. Adults can use them, though. I wouldn't buy this product again or similar products from the manufacturer. When I buy things, I like them to last at least 5-10 years, not 1 month.
