I have never written a review before. However, after the glass lid of this Kitchen Aid Gourment stainless Steel 12-piece set exploded in our kitchen. I felt it was important for the safety of those who also have this set. I have had pans with glass lids before and never experienced anything like this. However this tight seal had created a vacuum seal is what the customer service department told me. The liability department said to read the instructions and to never put a lid on a pot after you take it off the burner without prying it open first. When we used it to cook some meat, and took it off the burner to wait for the other items, it was then that it vacuumed sealed on. I tried to get it off and so did my husband, in the mean time I went to the KitchenAid website and it had nothing on the site regarding what to do. In the meantime, the lid exploded and there was glass embedded in the surface of the cupboards and in the microwave vent as well as everywhere else. The only reason that we did not have glass in our eyes is that I had just stepped aside to look up the KitchenAid site for information on what to do, and my spouse had glasses on. We do not want anyone to loose their eyesight over such an ordeal. Their response was read the directions; we will send you a new lid, and 15% off without a deadline on any KitchenAid item. Please read the directions before using this cookware set, with the super silicone seals that keep things from boiling over. It does too good of a job at that, now if you can figure out how to look in, not have anything boil over and then get the lid off you can then eat.

I've had the same QVC pots and pans my mom bought me for the last 7 years or so, wow was I missing out. I did extensive research, reading product reviews and weighing my options for a nice set of pots and pans and these were everything I'd hoped they'd be. They hold the heat incredibly well, very sturdy, the glass covers are awesome, I can and have washed them in the dishwasher repeatedly (according to the kitchenaid website this is fine), the handles stay nice and cool on the ends, but don't grab too close to the pan because it does abruptly become very hot. Great set for the price in my opinion. Kitchenaid has not let me down yet.Best Deals for KitchenAid Gourmet Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set
We registered for this set as a wedding gift based on the reviews here. Obviously, I'm in disagreement with the other reviewers on the quality. The pots and pans look nice out of the box and you can keep them that way if you towel dry and don't scorch. But I quickly noticed that the small saucepan is a bit tipsy. If it's empty and not on a totally flat surface the handle is too heavy and it will tip over. This is annoying with the grates on my stove.Next I noticed that the lids don't have steam vents. So I'm constantly cleaning water spills off the range from when things boil the lid off.
Worst of all, I was using the large skillet and lid to steam some veggies. When I got ready to serve I couldn't get the lid off. We tried heating the pan up again, we tried cooling it off, we tried prying it off, we tried letting it sit overnight. Nada. I still have a skillet and lid sealed together with my veggies inside. Not good. I'm glad I kept one of my old Teflon skillets (stainless is fairly non-stick, but I wouldn't cook eggs on it).

I got this set to replace some old Revere Ware I'd had for years. There was nothing wrong with the old set; I just wanted to upgrade. These KitchenAid pans and skillets are really good quality the handles have a nice feel to them, the pans have a nice weight and the lids are also good quality. I especially like the silicone rims on the lids to keep them quiet.UPDATE: after using this cookware for about 2 weeks, I have one thing to add. Be sure you understand about the silicone on the handles. Look closely at the pictures there is silicone on the underside of all the handles, but not on the top. So...if you want to lift a lid, you can do that by putting your fingers under the lid handle and touching only the silicone area. But the top of that same lid handle, where it says KitchenAid, is HOT. You will most likely need a potholder if you intent to put your hands on that metal part.
Same for the pot handles. The bottom part is silicone, and not too hot to touch. But it's not possible to pick up that pot without grasping the entire handle, and you will find the top side to be too hot to touch. I cannot pick up these pots without a potholder.
This issue about the handles does not change my mind about my rating they are excellent quality, clean up great and seem to heat evenly. I'd buy them again.
