I bought this because I bought 2 Cuisinart skillets and wanted lids for them. While I was pricing lids to fit 7 and 11 inch skillets, an expensive proposition, I saw Rachael Ray using one of these lids on one of her cooking shows and thought "now that looks like something useful" and looked here on Amazon and at Chef's Catalog and found this lid on both sites. Amazon's price was $5.00 less than Chef's so I bought my lid here. Received it in 2 days and used the lid the very day it arrived. It works great. The steam vent works really well, set it on "auto" and it does open automatically and prevents boil overs when cooking foods like rice--which made me really happy, no stove top mess to clean up. Not oven safe, but works on pans and skillets from 7" to 12". My 12 inch does not have that helper handle on one side so I can't say for sure if this lid will work on pans with those but maybe someone else can give us an update on that. It is not inexpensive but since it works on different size pots and pans it is worth the $35 or so that it sells for.

This is my third or fourth universal lid and it may be the last. It works exactly as it should: there is a vent where handle meets lid and it opens at just the right time to release steam. My favorite meal is a big pile of chopped vegetable, a few spoons of orzo, a good vegetable stock and my favorite seasonings. With this lid, throw everything into the pot, shake/slide now and then and watch. It works.

I bought this lid to use with a 10-inch ceramic-lined frypan that I was given as a Christmas present. I cook mostly on my stovetop, and almost always use covers on my frypans. I want glass lids for my frypans so that I can keep an eye on things. Standard glass lids are designed for straight-sided pots and pans; as a result, the drip ring on a 10-inch glass lid rests on the ceramic lining on lip of the new frypan, which does not seem like a good idea to me. The reviews of less expensive metal and glass universal lids often mentioned glass-metal separation problems. So I bought this more expensive lid in the hope that it would be durable. After about a month of use, no problems whatever. Works great, and is lighter than my all-glass lids. The knob of the lid provides a stable surface I can use to support dinner and salad plates, providing me with a useful plate warmer while things are cooking. A bit expensive, but it works perfectly and seems like it will hold up for a long time. No regrets about the price.

Is a universal fit to many sizes of frying pans, which is why I chose it. Works perfectly, easy to use, easy to clean, and has a nice steam venting feature. Perfect.

Fits our saute pan. The steam vent works as advertised. I chose this lid because I couldn't fine an OEM lid.
