In the past two years I have had to throw out a Le Creuset kettle (which simply fell to pieces after a year's use literally, nuts and bolts just started to fall off) and a Chantal copper kettle (not exactly the kettle's fault: my husband offered to make me a cup of tea and then went to the end of the back yard and forgot about it).
But this All Clad, which he bought me to make amends, is just so darn gorgeous! I love the way it looks. I love the way the lid gently slides on, instead of having to be rammed in, as with the other two brands. What is more, because the base is of a wider diameter, water heats in half the time.
I honestly don't know why other reviewers complain so about the handle heating up. Have you tried the Chantal? You virtually need to wear an asbestos suit before you can touch its handle. The All Clad does heat up a little, but I would always suggest using a pot holder to handle any kettle or hot pan handle. It just makes sense.
Lastly, I don't know much about other brands of oven, but we have a Wolf, and the burners are so large that the flames would fly up the sides of my copper Chantal kettle and burn the patina. The All Clad has the same diameter as our Wolf burners, so no chance of that happening; although I suspect if it did, no harm would come to it.
So thank you, Steve, for burning out my Chantal kettle!

The handle gets too hot to touch. Poorly designed, after 4 weeks of use the whistle no longer works. All Clad usually makes a great product, but not this time.Best Deals for All-Clad E8619964 Stainless Steel Specialty Cookware Tea Kettle
I needed a new kettle and this one matched my other All-Clad cookware. Unfortunately, the handle gets so hot when you use it, that you can't pick it up without a towel or mitt. Not practical for me...so I ended up returning it.Honest reviews on All-Clad E8619964 Stainless Steel Specialty Cookware Tea Kettle
I went kettle browsing recently when my old kettle began to fall apart. This would be the third kettle I have purchased in eleven years. I wanted stainless steel (no rusting), quality, something easy to clean, a kettle that looked good sitting on my stove (I leave it out), and one that would LAST. I'm tired of buying replacements! Enter All-Clad. I knew when I saw it that it was exactly what I was looking for. It meets all my criteria. Yes, it is more expensive, but not when you consider it comes with a lifetime guarantee (provided you do not abuse it). I am very happy with my new kettle. It is worth every cent I paid for it.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for All-Clad E8619964 Stainless Steel Specialty Cookware Tea Kettle
Hi,I just got this kettle today. I had read the reviews from some who said that the handle gets hot....they speak the truth. That being said, the thing is SO darn pretty and I love the size too. If this makes sense, it has a great "pour feel" to it.
I may feel differently about it after the first time I burn myself on the handle, but for now, I love it.
